MANCHESTER CITY'S HISTORIC SEASON
The 2022/23 season was a historic one for Manchester City, as they became just the second English club, after Sir Alex Ferguson's 1999 Manchester United side, to win the treble. The team, led by Pep Guardiola, secured their third consecutive Premier League title in May, with three matches to spare, after second-placed Arsenal lost 1-0 away at Nottingham Forest.
However, the crowning glory of the season came on June 10 when Manchester City faced Inter Milan in the UEFA Champions League final. The team ended a 53-year European trophy drought with a 1-0 win, securing the continental treble for the first time in the club's history. Rodri, who scored the lone goal, was named man of the match by UEFA.

Kochi: A special treat awaits football lovers in Kerala as Manchester City Football Club prepares to showcase their prestigious trophies from the triple crown triumph of last season. The trophy tour will arrive in India on September 21 and continue until 27, with Kochi chosen as one of the host cities. Mumbai will also be part of the trophy tour, as the club has selected only two cities in the country for this special event.
The tour will commence its journey in Japan on July 19, where the trophies will be exhibited in Tokyo until July 26. Afterward, the tour will proceed to Seoul, South Korea, and make its way through various cities in Greece, the UK, and China, before reaching India. The City's trophy tour will visit several other countries, including the UAE, Australia, Norway, Argentina, the US, and Brazil. The trophies will also make appearances in the cities of Abu Dhabi and Dubai in the UAE. The exact dates of arrival in each city will be announced by the club at a later time.
Last season, Manchester City clinched the titles of the Champions League, Premier League, and FA Cup, achieving an impressive treble. Manchester City kicks off Treble Trophy Tour in India, four trophies displayed in Kochi
Manchester City kicked off their Treble Trophy Tour in India on Thursday at Kochi. The four highly coveted trophies – the Premier League trophy, the FA Cup, and the UEFA Champions League trophy – along with the UEFA Super Cup made their way to the football-crazy city of Kochi. These were accompanied by Manchester City Legend Nedum Onouha.
The four trophies that constitute the Cityzens’ first-ever treble success were displayed on the scenic banks of the Vembanad Lake in Kochi, which is the longest lake in India and is well-renowned for hosting the Nehru Trophy Boat Race.

The trophies will now make their way to Mumbai, which is the home of Manchester City’s sister club from the City Football Group (CFG) club, Mumbai City FC. Last season, Manchester City became the first English team since 1999 after their arch-rival Manchester United to complete a treble.
The Blues came from behind to beat Arsenal and lift their third consecutive Premier League. In the FA Cup final, City secured a 2-1 victory against local rival Manchester United to clinch the second trophy of the season.
Finally, Rodri’s curving shot in the UEFA Champions League final against Inter Milan completed the historic treble.

‘Cityzens’ in Kerala on cloud nine as Manchester City Treble Trophy Tour’s India leg begins in Kochi on Saturday
The Trophy tour, which started in Japan makes its way to India; ecstatic fans head to Kochi from all over the state.

It rained as Manchester City celebrated winning the treble of major trophies — Premier League, FA Cup, and Champions League — on 12 June. The newest addition, the Super Cup Trophy, too, will be on display.
“It had to be the best parade with this rain, otherwise this is not Manchester,” manager Pep Guardiola said after the open-top blue bus reached the stage on St Peter’s Square in Manchester,
The weathermen have predicted thunderstorms for Kochi on Saturday, 23 September, evening, even as the Manchester City’s Treble Trophy Tour keeps its date with the Queen of the Arabian Sea. The adverse weather, however, will remain helpless — as it did as Kerala Blasters pipped Bengaluru FC 2-1 in Kochi on Thursday, 21 September.
Football is in the DNA of the average Malayali, which even FIFA acknowledged during the World Cup last year. Keralites have been awaiting the Manchester City Treble Trophy Tour ever since the premier English football club announced its itinerary on 6 July.
“After Kochi, the tour will travel to Mumbai,” the club announced on its website. The tour is part of “taking our trophies closer to fans in Manchester and around the world”, it added.
The trophies have visited Japan, South Korea, Greece, the UK, and China. From India, the touring party will head to Indonesia, the UAE, Australia, Norway, Argentina, and the US before winding up at Salvador in Brazil on 14 January.
This visit will offer fans in Kerala a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to get up close and personal with some of the most prestigious trophies in football.
The event, to be hosted in the bustling Atrium of LuLu Mall at Edappally, promises a day filled with excitement and football fervor. Football fans from across the region are eagerly anticipating the chance to see and photograph the iconic silverware.
The team released an image on the social media platform, X , announcing their arrival.

Lulu to screen nottingham match.
As part of the festivities, LuLu Mall is also offering a screening of Manchester City’s game against Nottingham Forest. Although registration for the ground floor space has closed, football enthusiasts can still secure additional viewing spaces on other levels of the mall.
Adding to the excitement are special guests who will be present at the event. Moonchester , the team mascot, is set to delight fans of all ages with his antics. Renowned City legend Nedum Onuoha, who holds a special place in the hearts of Manchester City supporters, will also be in attendance.
According to the official statement released by the team, Manchester City coaches will be conducting free training sessions for children, providing young football enthusiasts with a unique opportunity to learn from the best in the business.
One of the most appealing aspects of the event is that most activities are open on a first-come, first-served basis, eliminating the need for pre-registration. Attendees can simply show up and immerse themselves in the world of football glory.
Football fans in Kochi are counting down the hours until they can witness history as the Treble Trophies come to their city. The event promises to be a day of joy, celebration, and football. The event is from 10 am to 5 pm.

All roads lead to kochi.
“What was missing in our trophy cabinet was a Champions League trophy, I remember the sleepless night when the Rodri goal made history for the club, a retort to everyone who made snide remarks at Man City for not having a Champions Trophy, Well, we now have the whole European set and it is coming to Kochi,” City fan Steffin Jose could not hide his excitement.
“Many City fans are gathering at Kochi, A group from Malappuram is coming to witness the trophies,” Fawaz M, an active member of Cityzens, the fan club of Manchester City FC, said.
“The fan participation has increased great loads after Guardiola took over as the coach of Man City, bringing his expertise to the team. It also drew many young fans to the club who started to view the matches,” he added.
In terms of the quality of football, The English Premier League is a notch above the rest, according to the fans.
“The EPL is by far the most engaging professional football league, in terms of competition, multiple teams fight for the top slot, instead of just two or three like in other leagues, It is highly competitive and engaging,” another Cityzen, Kevin, said.
“My profile picture on social media for the next 2 months will be the treble trophies,” Jose added.

Manchester City kicks off Treble Trophy tour in India from Kochi
Kochi, Sep 22 (PTI) English professional football club Manchester City FC on Friday kicked off their Treble Trophy Tour in India at Kochi. The four coveted trophies -- the Premier League trophy, the FA Cup, the UEFA Champions League trophy and the UEFA Super Cup -- were brought to Kochi and was accompanied by Manchester City legend Nedum Onuoha. The trophies will now make their way to Mumbai, which is the home of Manchester City’s sister Mumbai City FC, which is owned by City Football Group (CFG). Onuoha, who spoke to the media during an interaction, said that Manchester City FC was going through its best time. He lauded coach, Josep "Pep" Guardiola Sala and said the team has reached its zenith by bagging the four trophies under him. Meanwhile, the English football giants yesterday put up an image of Kerala's sprawling Vembanad Lake on its social media handles as the backdrop for the Premier League, FA Cup, Champions League trophies and the latest Super Cup won by the club. On the eve of displaying the trophies for football buffs to take photographs with, the 143-year-old club had posted the picture of the four trophies lined up against the evening sky beyond the horizon even as a passenger boat moves past close-by. "The sun sets of Vembanad Lake in Kochi #TrebleTrophyTour," the club had posted on social media platform X, with the image. "It is really exciting that a prominent football club of the world is coming to Kerala with the coveted trophies they won recently. Kerala can be really proud that Manchester City greatly appreciates the stunning beauty of Kerala and is unveiling it before the whole world," Tourism Minister P A Mohamed Riyas said in a statement. Just as it's known for its unparalleled natural beauty, Kerala is also reputed for its love of football, Riyas said adding that the football club's social media promotion of Vembanad Lake is yet another instance of Kerala being marked firmly on the world tourism map. "This reflects the big reputation our state enjoys in the West and other countries across the globe," he added. Three weeks ago, Manchester City had wished Keralites across the world 'Happy Onam' over social media by displaying the greetings in Malayalam. Expectedly, the Instagram post went viral. That was on August 31, when the image focused on superstar Erling Haaland in the Club's blue jersey biting into a fried pappadam, while the background showed two houseboats lined up close to a green plot of land defined by coconut trees. Earlier, football powerhouse Chelsea FC made a virtual tour of Alappuzha, praising the beauty of the state’s backwater paradise. "The beauty of Kerala! The Blues visit the scenic backwater of Alleppey as part of the virtual tour," ran the caption of an image posted on March 20. Earlier this year, Kerala's iconic snake boat race had been featured prominently by the Wimbledon Tennis Championship as a poster on its digital platforms during the latest edition of the revered tourney.

On the eve of displaying the trophies for football buffs to take photographs with, the 143-year-old club had posted the picture of the four trophies lined up against the evening sky beyond the horizon even as a passenger boat moves past close-by.
“The sun sets of Vembanad Lake in Kochi #TrebleTrophyTour,” the club had posted on social media platform X, with the image.
“It is really exciting that a prominent football club of the world is coming to Kerala with the coveted trophies they won recently. Kerala can be really proud that Manchester City greatly appreciates the stunning beauty of Kerala and is unveiling it before the whole world,” Tourism Minister P A Mohamed Riyas said in a statement.
Just as it’s known for its unparalleled natural beauty, Kerala is also reputed for its love of football, Riyas said adding that the football club’s social media promotion of Vembanad Lake is yet another instance of Kerala being marked firmly on the world tourism map.
“This reflects the big reputation our state enjoys in the West and other countries across the globe,” he added.
Three weeks ago, Manchester City had wished Keralites across the world ‘Happy Onam’ over social media by displaying the greetings in Malayalam. Expectedly, the Instagram post went viral.
That was on August 31, when the image focused on superstar Erling Haaland in the Club’s blue jersey biting into a fried pappadam, while the background showed two houseboats lined up close to a green plot of land defined by coconut trees.
Earlier, football powerhouse Chelsea FC made a virtual tour of Alappuzha, praising the beauty of the state’s backwater paradise.
“The beauty of Kerala! The Blues visit the scenic backwater of Alleppey as part of the virtual tour,” ran the caption of an image posted on March 20.
Earlier this year, Kerala’s iconic snake boat race had been featured prominently by the Wimbledon Tennis Championship as a poster on its digital platforms during the latest edition of the revered tourney. PTI RRT RRT ANE

Reflecting on the experience, Onuoha said: “Zoya was so stunned when she saw me and then when the Champions League trophy was behind me it was obviously an incredibly special moment for her.
