My 2 friends and I, we went for 9 days safari with following itinerary: Tanzania starting in Arusha - Tarangire National Park, Lake Manyara with walk, Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater, Empakai Crater, Kenya - Amboseli with walk. We had amazing guides, I could not wish for better company, we had a lot of fun and I learnt so much about animal, Masai culture and life of African people. In Tanzania our guide was Godlove Goodluck and in Kenya - Onesmus. We had also cook named Alifa - cooking is really his passion and food was tasty. Much better than in any African restaurant we had been :D Everything was organized and yeah, sure, things did go sideway, as our car got broken, but what I appreciate is how the things were handled and what Steve did to make sure our trip is untouched (new car was sent, meantime rescue car camet to not lose any game drive etc). And to make it up Steve made us amazing surprise. We were flying out of Nairobi at 6 am so he arranged for us home stay at lovely Kenyan family. We had wonderful last night in Africa with his friends. We could not wish for more. Ah, one more great surprise from Steve! We had budget safari with basic accommodation to keep cost as lower as possible, and is like Steve would know us better, he booked for our last 2 nights amazing lodge with swimming pool and view on Kilimanjaro. After diving and 9 days in the car on bumpy roads this was like a dream! I can honestly recommend Steve and his team for organization of your Safari. Steve - thank you so much for amazing experience and providing us great guides, this made all difference.

We went with a family of 6 on the 3 day Masai Mara tour. We had tourguide/driver Onesmas and wonderful cook Kyoko with us in a small but reasonabky comfortabel van. Onesmas was very good, entertaining without being intrusive and very good with all the locals. One highlight was seeing the start of the massive wildebeest migration from the Serengeti Tanzania into Masai Mara.

The 14 day experience was truly amazing for me and my son. The whole experience including the organisation, camping and hotels was outstanding. The trip involved some long days, long drives and early morning but you soon forgot about this as you were rewarded with amazing sunrises, stunning wildlife in at least five different national parks or wildlife area and beautiful scenery. Our local guides and Exodus team were extremely friendly, professional and knowledgeable. The final few days in Zanzibar allowed us to chill out on a beautiful white beach and enjoy the Indian Ocean. The optional trips including the Serengeti Balloon Experience, the snorkelling in Zanzibar and the Maasia people tour were brilliant.

This trip exceeded all expectations in terms of the iconic wildlife we saw and the spectacular scenery, with a wonderful guide and crew. Also we had a good group of only 7, and being outside peak season camp sites were quiet, and there was less competition between safari vehicles for prime viewing spots.

When is the best time to go on a safari in Kenya?

Generally speaking, January, February and June to October are the best times to go on safari in Africa. This is the dry season, so animals tend to come out into more open spaces in search of water, making them easier to spot. However, you’ll be able to spot animals year-round and enjoy fewer crowds if you travel outside peak season.

Am I guaranteed to see animals?

We can’t guarantee you’ll spot the Big 5, but you’d have to be seriously unlucky to see no animals at all. On our safaris, you’ll explore some of the best game parks and national reserves in the world. These protected areas are filled with a huge variety of species and your expert driver and local leader will be on hand to point you in the right direction (literally).

What are the "Big Five"?

The “Big 5” used to refer to the five big game animals that were the most difficult to hunt. Now that most shooting is done on a camera, the Big 5 are the most exciting animals to spot while on safari: the lion, leopard, rhinoceros, elephant, and Cape buffalo.

What should I pack for a safari in Kenya?

What type of food will be served on a safari in Kenya?

It depends on the trip style you've chosen. On our Basix trips, you’ll have a cook travelling with you who'll whip up various local and Western-style dishes.

Along your route, your cook will stop to purchase fresh, locally sourced food for your meals. For breakfast, expect fruit, eggs, toast and cereal; lunch is often sandwiches and salads; and dinner is a hearty meal like pasta, curry or a BBQ.

On our Original and Comfort trips there'll be more meals at camps and lodges. One thing's for sure: you won't be hungry on safari!

What are the toilets and showers like on safari?

Most permanent tented camps have private bathrooms with flushing toilets and warm showers.

Many campsites we stay at have communal facilities with flushing toilets and warm showers; however, in some of the more remote areas, there may only be basic facilities (toilets and cold running water).

Will I be able to use my mobile phone on safari?

Some of our hotels and campsites will have wi-fi, however, internet and phone access may be limited in more remote areas.

But you won’t think twice about emails and social media when you’re watching a pride of lions prowl through long grass or enjoying a drink around the campfire with your group.
