1973-74 was an amazingly productive period for GENESIS, with the releases of Selling England and the Lamb, probably the artistic pinnacle of their early period. How else could Los Endos - Ultimate Genesis celebrate the 50th Anniversary of this moment in time but to craft a set of the very best of these masterpieces that we have called 'Selling Lamb by the Pound'. Come and enjoy a 2½ hour set of the very best of this music crafted for you by probably the best Genesis tribute in the UK - great sound, great light show, great experience - the greatest of prog rock. Steve Hackett continues to tour the amazing music of Genesis (thanks Steve!) it makes you realise that the magnificent music he produced with Genesis is timeless (and not embarassing or pretentious as critics have maintained until recently) and if you want to enjoy the exhilaration of this music live and up close you can't do better than Los Endos. Saw you for the first time recently in Hastings. There were a lot of pissed-up old rockers in but it was a brilliant night. I'd recommend anybody to go see you guys. Really great to see a band keeping classic music alive and treating the pieces like standards without all that trying to look like the originals b******s. It's about the music. Took my dad (who had been to the 1978 Knebworth gig himself...before I was born!). He LOVED you as did I! So, Los Endos? I'd never heard of them. I've seen a similar world-renown tribute band a couple of times- the effect on the mind-bank is the same- you travel back to days when long-hair, flares and one or two tee-shirts were daily attire. The first notes of 'Can Utility and the Coastliner's' immediately convinced me that this band were high-calibre die-hards - the sound was identical! - Patrick Morgan

I saw Genesis in early 1973 at the Greyhound in Croydon. Your show fully does them justice. The extended numbers are wonderful, the sound is fantastic (been to too many gigs where the sound kills the ears), and the lighting adds to the dark effect of so much Genesis music. New 11-day festival to celebrate Grateful Dead’s music in Central New York

Calling all Deadheads: There’s a new music festival in Central New York for you.

“Grateful Getaway: An Enchanting Cosmic Odyssey Through the Grateful Dead’s Musical Wonderland,” is an 11-day event set to take place Aug. 1-11 at Wonderland Forest near LaFayette, N.Y. Each night will feature performances of the Grateful Dead’s music by tribute bands and artists with ties to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame group, including the Sam Grisman Project and Melvin Seals & JGB.

Sam Grisman is the son of bluegrass musician David Grisman, also known as “Dawg,” who played mandolin on Grateful Dead’s “American Beauty” album and collaborated with bandleader Jerry Garcia many times. Seals was a longtime member of the Jerry Garcia Band and kept the music going as “JGB” after the death of Garcia in 1995 and bandmate John Kahn in 1996.

Other performers include Dark Star Orchestra, which has performed as a Grateful Dead tribute band for more than 25 years; Pink Talking Fish Are Dead, a “fusion of Pink Floyd, Talking Heads and Phish”; Steely Dead, which combines Steely Dan’s musical precision with the Grateful Dead’s free-flowing improvisation; and Grateful For Biggie, a live hip-hop mashup of the Grateful Dead’s music with Notorious B.I.G.’s raps.

“This captivating event promises to be a euphoric celebration of the band’s timeless tunes, where the melodies of the past intertwine with the boundless energy of the present,” an event description says. “Imagine yourself immersed in a veritable wonderland, where the soulful strums of the guitar and the hypnotic beats of the drums beckon you to lose yourself in the moment. From sunrise to sunset, the Grateful Getaway will transport you to a realm where time stands still, and the only thing that matters is the pure, unadulterated joy of experiencing live music in all its glory.”

Tickets are on sale via wonderlandforest.com ; prices are $199 for admission to all 11 days of music (without camping), $420 for 11 days of music and camping at Wonderland Forest, and $1,999 for an all-inclusive package that includes an exclusive tent site, private porta potty, meals, drinks and more. Additional fees may apply.

Tickets are also available for individual shows, starting at $25 for Sam Grisman Project, $35 for Pink Talking Fish Are Dead, $25 for Steely Dead, $39.50 for Melvin Seals & JGB, and $49.50 for Dark Star Orchestra.

Wonderland Forest is a new campground and concert venue that opened last year with a 50th anniversary celebration of Summer Jam . The site is built on 400 acres of forest in the hills of Otisco, located about a 20-minute drive south of Syracuse.

Foo Fighters Dedicate ‘My Hero’ to Steve Albini at Charlotte Concert

Foo Fighters paid tribute to Steve Albini — who worked with Dave Grohl on Nirvana’s In Utero — Thursday night at the band’s concert in Charlotte, North Carolina.

“Tonight, I’d like to dedicate this song to a friend we lost the other day, who I’ve known for a long, long time. And he left us much too soon,” Grohl told the audience at Foo Fighters’ first concert since Albini’s death Wednesday at the age of 61 .

“ He’s touched all of your lives , I’m sure. Talking about Steve Albini. For those of you who know, you know. For those of you who don’t know, just remember that name: Steve Albini. So let’s sing this one for him.” The band then launched into a rendition of their hit “My Hero” in honor of the iconic engineer and noise-rock pioneer .

Joe Mantegna and Gary Sinise will return to host the PBS National Memorial Day Concert , to take place from the west lawn of the Capitol on May 26.

The event, marking its 35th anniversary, honors members of the military and their families, with an evening of music and storytelling.

Another segment, featuring Jena Malone, will focus on the challenges of veterans of Iraq and Afghanistan, with the story of U.S. Marine Corps veteran and amputee Kirstie Ennis, who sent on to become an adaptive athlete and has made it a mission to bring awareness to encourage others to reach out for help.

Also featured in the concert will be Cynthia Erivo, Gary LeVox, Jamey Johnson, Mary McCormack, Ruthie Ann Miles, Patina Miller and the National Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Jack Everly. The event also will include a Salute to Services with the Joint Chiefs of Staff and Service Color Teams. Also participating will be members from The U.S. Army Herald Trumpets, The U.S. Army Chorus, The Soldiers’ Chorus of the U.S. Army Field Band, The U.S. Navy Band Sea Chanters, The U.S. Air Force Singing Sergeants and the Armed Forces Color Guard provided by the Military District of Washington, D.C.

The concert will air on PBS from 8 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. ET, as well as to troops around the world on the American Forces Network. It also will stream at www.pbs.org/national-memorial-day-concert and YouTube, and will available as video on demand from May 26 to June 9.

The concert is a co-production of Michael Colbert of Capital Concerts and WETA, Washington, D.C.

Lied’s 2024-25 highlights include ‘Annie,’ Itzhak Perlman, ABBA  tribute

The Lied Center for Performing Arts’ 2024-25 season will feature more than 35 events, including top artists and ensembles from around the world in dance, classical music, jazz, musical theater, comedy, family entertainment and illusion.

“The thrilling 35th anniversary season at the Lied is a celebration for all of Nebraska,” said Bill Stephan, the Lied’s executive director. “From the stunning power of world-renowned ensembles such as the Czech National Symphony Orchestra and Parsons Dance, to the return of Lied audience favorites such as Itzhak Perlman and Preservation Hall Jazz Band, to the Nebraska premiere of ‘Back to the Future: The Musical,’ to the world-premiere play ‘A House Divided’ featuring the Lincoln White House, there truly is something for everyone. Other highlights include ‘Disney’s The Little Mermaid’ and ‘Encanto: The Live Sing-Along Concert,’ the ABBA celebration Arrival From Sweden and the premiere tour of the new musical ‘Mystic Pizza.’”

The Lied Center’s 2023-24 schedule:

• Aaron Watson , Sept. 6, 7:30 p.m. — For more than 20 years, Watson has toured the country as an underdog troubadour — an independent artist with the spirit of the American frontier in his veins. He has had five top-10 albums on Billboard’s country album chart and was the first independent male artist to debut at No. 1 on that chart. Watson’s hits include “Outta Style,” “That Look,” “July in Cheyenne,” “Freight Train” and “Kiss That Girl Goodbye.”
• “A House Divided,” Sept. 17-22, Johnny Carson Theater (six performances) — The Lied Center presents the world premiere of “A House Divided,” a new play by Christina Kirk. Based on real events, the work examines the distressing choices faced by President Abraham Lincoln during a week in 1863 when Mary Todd Lincoln’s half-sister, Emilie Todd Helm, visits the White House. Helm, a fiercely loyal Confederate, refuses to pledge allegiance to the Union when trying to cross the border to return to Kentucky after her Confederate husband’s death in battle. Unsure of what else to do, Lincoln suggests the soldiers send her to the White House.
• “Dear Evan Hansen,” Sept. 27-29 (five performances) — Described as “one of the most remarkable shows in musical theater history” by The Washington Post and “an anthem resonating on Broadway and beyond” by NBC Nightly News, the Tony- and Grammy-winning “Dear Evan Hansen” is one of the first contemporary musicals about connection in the digital age. Packed with such hits as “You Will Be Found,” “Waving Through a Window” and “For Forever,” the musical features an uplifting score by the Tony-, Grammy- and Oscar-winning team behind “The Greatest Showman,” Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, and a book by Tony Award winner Steven Levenson.

• “Step Afrika! The Migration,” Oct. 3, 7:30 p.m. — After thrilling Lied audiences in 2021, Step Afrika! returns with lightning-fast footwork, percussive chants and incredible synchronicity, creating a heart-pounding experience that celebrates the African American tradition of stepping. Based on Jacob Lawrence’s iconic paintings “The Migration Series,” this powerful new work tells the story of Black migrants moving out of the South in the early 1900s
• “Back to the Future: The Musical,” Oct. 8-13 (eight performances) — Great Scott! The 1985 cinematic classic is now a Broadway musical with its destination set for Lincoln in 2024. When Marty McFly finds himself transported back to 1955 in a time machine built by eccentric scientist Doc Brown, he accidentally changes the course of history. Now, he’s in a race against time to fix the present, escape the past and send himself … back to the future. The production won the 2022 Olivier Award for best new musical.

• Preservation Hall Jazz Band , Oct. 18, 7:30 p.m. — This iconic group has held the torch of New Orleans music aloft for more than 60 years with its brilliant stage performances. The band, which returns to the Lied Center for the first time since 2006, has graced festival stages from Coachella to Newport and performed with such legends as Stevie Wonder, Elvis Costello and the Grateful Dead, as well as modern acts Beck, The Foo Fighters, My Morning Jacket and The Black Keys.
• “Carson Tonight,” Oct. 23, 7:30 p.m. — Relive the magic and laughter of Johnny Carson’s “Tonight Show” on Johnny’s 99th birthday with some of the performers and personalities who were frequent guests during the show’s 30-year late-night run. Carson Entertainment Group and the Lied Center present this special event, hosted by comedian Pat Hazell, with performances by magician Lance Burton, comedian Cathy Ladman, ventriloquist Jay Johnson, juggling act The Passing Zone and other surprise guests. The show will feature live music by the UNL Jazz Orchestra, playing from the original music charts of The Tonight Show Orchestra.

This new quintet includes some of Nebraska’s finest jazz musicians, performing a wide variety of music from legendary jazz performers. The Pogues review – triumphant tribute to energy and poetry of band’s early days

Hackney Empire, London An inspired cast of guests from Nadine Shah to Jim Sclavunos stand in for the late Shane MacGowan in a raucous run-through of the band’s debut album and other highlights

W ith late frontman Shane MacGowan replaced by a succession of guests, this 40th anniversary show for the Pogues’ debut album, Red Roses For Me, could so easily have been a pale imitation, glorified karaoke. And yet, it’s utterly triumphant. There are no overwrought speeches during this evening curated by the band’s co-founder Spider Stacy, only a brief dedication to MacGowan and other departed bandmates Darryl Hunt and Philip Chevron , and the Dubliners’ Ronnie Drew before The Irish Rover. Instead, they pay more fitting tribute by tapping back into the tornado of energy, passion and poetry that made the Pogues thrilling to begin with.

Within a nanosecond of opener Transmetropolitan, it’s pandemonium amid a sell-out crowd who burst instantly into a hundreds-strong mosh, bellowing back every word. The Battle Of Brisbane pushes things even higher; Greenland Whale Fisheries a notch higher than that. By Boys From The County Hell, it’s totally feral.

A relentless band, also featuring Goat Girl ’s Holly Mullineaux and Fontaines DC ’s Tom Coll, thrive off that energy. Garbed in suave black suits they pose and posture, James Fearnley wielding his accordion as if he’s Hendrix with a guitar. Their real genius, however, is the space they leave for their guests to make things their own. Experimental duo Stick in the Wheel bring a cutting edge to Dark Streets of London. A precise and dramatic Jim Sclavunos conveys every ounce of sorrow in anti-war song The Band Played Waltzing Matilda.

Young Brighton newcomers the New Eves deliver a particularly manic Waxie’s Dargle, whirling their way around the stage between bombarding verses. Tellingly, it’s this that prompts Stacy to mention MacGowan for the first time. “That one’s for Shane. He’s here, I can tell,” he says, visibly emotional.

Stacy is a charming presence, using his tin whistle as a conductor’s baton, and takes the pressure off the occasion through constant self-effacement. “From the sublime to the ridiculous,” he jokes after Nadine Shah – who’s transcendent The Auld Triangle is the finest performance of all – is followed by the sprightly Repeal of the Licensing Laws.

Under Stacy’s easy control the gig sparks with spontaneity. Iona Zajac gatecrashes Daragh Lynch of Lankum’s Down in the Ground Where the Dead Men Go for a MacGowan-esque scream-off; Zajac, the New Eves and the Deadlians’ Sean Fitzgerald dance chaotically across the stage during The Irish Rover; a genuinely unplanned encore after the house lights come on sees all the guests at once reprise Streams Of Whiskey. Unruly but never unfriendly, emotional but never mawkish, there could be no finer tribute to MacGowan than this.

An Overview of the IELTS

The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is designed to measure English proficiency for educational, vocational and immigration purposes. The IELTS measures an individual's ability to communicate in English across four areas of language: listening , reading , writing and speaking . The IELTS is administered jointly by the British Council, IDP: IELTS Australia and Cambridge English Language Assessment at over 1,100 test centres and 140 countries. These test centres supervise the local administration of the test and recruit, train and monitor IELTS examiners.

IELTS tests are available on 48 fixed dates each year, usually Saturdays and sometimes Thursdays, and may be offered up to four times a month at any test centre, including Elektrostal' depending on local needs. Go to IELTS test locations to find a test centre in or nearby Elektrostal' and to check for upcoming test dates at your test centre.

Test results are available online 13 days after your test date. You can either receive your Test Report Form by post or collect it from the Test Centre. You will normally only receive one copy of the Test Report Form, though you may ask for a second copy if you are applying to the UK or Canada for immigration purposes - be sure to specify this when you register for IELTS. You may ask for up to 5 copies of your Test Report Form to be sent directly to other organisations, such as universities.
