With a one-way ticket, you can take a single boat ride from Westminster Pier to St Katherine’s Pier – a one-way trip that takes around thirty minutes to complete.

On the other hand, a return ticket offers more – hop on, hop off. This ticket variant is valid for 24 hours. It lets you alight at all the stops mentioned above, allowing you to explore them at your own pace. So, you can easily discover London by stopping at each pier before catching your return cruise. For the round trip, boats start a non-stop journey from St Katherine’s Pier every thirty minutes. Make sure you have your fill before taking the return trip though because it comes back to Westminster Pier without stopping.

If you choose a return ticket, cruises will depart from St. Katherine’s Pier for a non-stop trip back to Westminster every 30 minutes, starting from 11:30 with the last departure at 15:00.

The meeting point is at Westminster Pier. The easiest way to reach it is by London Underground. Simply take the Circle, District, or Jubilee line to Westminster Station. It is roughly a two-minute walk from the station.

You will receive your Thames Circular Cruise tickets via email shortly after booking. On the day of your experience, please show your tickets on your mobile phone along with a valid photo ID. Please note, your cruise tickets are only valid for the date selected when booking.

Reduced Price Tickets

Tickets for children between five and fifteen years old, seniors over sixty, and students with a valid student ID card are available for a reduced price. A family ticket (for up to two adults and three children) can also be purchased. Children below five years can board the cruise free of charge.

If you are travelling from Greenwich to London our service only calls at Tower Bridge Quay & Westminster Pier allowing fast journey times with no stops or changes. A journey from Greenwich to Tower Bridge Quay is just 20-30 minutes* & the journey from Greenwich to Westminster is just under 1 hour*.

All of our boats have outdoor seating in the fresh air on the open deck & plenty of space to social distance. Some of our sailings also feature fully licensed bars, we recommend checking with our ticket office on your day of travel to check availability of bar services.

Bankside & the surrounding area is home to a variety of historical & contemporary attractions including Borough Market, Southwark Cathedral, the Clink Prison Museum, Golden Hinde II, Shakespeare’s Globe, the Tate Modern, Bankside Gallery & the Millennium Bridge. Tower Bridge Quay (Tower Bridge & Tower of London)

Tower Bridge Quay (formerly St. Katharine Pier) is located on the North shore of the River Thames at St. Katharine Dock, a short walk from the UNESCO World Heritage Site at the Tower of London. The dock opened in 1828 & was once popular with expensive cargo’s from around the world including ivory, shells, sugar, marble, wines, fragrant spices & perfumes. Today St. Katharine’s is a haven for yachts & historic vessels including traditional Thames sailing barges. Tower Pier is a popular pier for visitors and commuters. Located beside the Tower of London one of the best views of London's iconic Tower Bridge, is from Tower Pier. A great option for passengers using a wheelchair or pram, Tower Pier has step-free access from Tower Hill.

Tickets can be bought at ticket machines at the pier before travel, but to save time and money touch in and out with your Oyster or contactless card. You can also buy your tickets online or use the Uber app or the Thames Clippers Tickets app .

River Bus service patterns

The times below indicate the first and last departures from this pier. However, these services may not call at all piers. Please always check the timetable before travelling.

Continuing your journey from Tower Pier

Tower Hill on London Underground's District and Circle lines is the nearest tube station to Tower Pier and is a five-minute walk around the Tower of London.

Tower Gateway on the DLR is slightly further away (7-minute walk) and National Rail services can be caught from London Fenchurch Street Station, which is on the C2C network, and also just under 10 minutes' walk from the pier.

Santander Cycles can be hired from the docking stations on Great Tower Street or Tower Gardens.

CS3 on the Cycle Superhighways network passes near to the pier.

Buses, Ubers and black cabs regularly serve this area.

If you have travelled into the city by car, you can use the nearby Tower Hill Car Park to access the pier. However, please note before travelling that the pier is within the congestion charge zone.

Tower Pier and Tower Millennium Pier are the same pier. Some people just remove the word “Millennium” as it can be a bit of a mouthful. If you’re visiting London and are worried about reaching the right place, don’t worry! Everyone will know which pier you mean, no matter which version you choose.

The nearest tube station is Tower Hill Station, which can be reached via a short walk (usually around 7 minutes). However, the pier is also well located for onward travel on local rail services (from Fenchurch Street) and DLR services (from Tower Gateway).

Londoners urged to 'come out and enjoy' seven new public spaces alongside Thames

T he architect behind the biggest creation of new open public space alongside the Thames for more than 150 years has said her “inspiration” is opening up the river to more Londoners.

The completion of London’s super-sewer after eight years of construction work will be accompanied by seven new pocket parks and plazas along the riverbank.

Major construction on the 23ft wide Thames Tideway tunnel - designed to massively reduce the amount of raw sewage flowing directly into the river - is due to wind up this summer, when test runs begin, before it is fully connected to the capital’s network by 2025.

One major legacy of the £5billion project is the string of new public space stretching from Putney in the west to Tower Hamlets in the east and covering three acres in total.

It is thought to be the biggest development of its kind since Sir Joseph Bazalgette designed the original sewer system in the 1860s after the “Great Stink” of 1858.

Lead architect Clare Donnelly, a director of leading London practice Fereday Pollard, said: “The biggest inspiration is that the Thames is London’s largest open space and we want people to come out and enjoy it.

“We want to make that public realm as enjoyable and as enriching for people as it possibly can be.”

The first of the new spaces launched in Putney in September - and was completed for the start for this year’s Boat Race. The others will all open to the public in stages over the next 18 months.

Second off the drawing board this month will be a site at Chelsea Embankment , designed to reflect the style of the Royal Hospital, which it sits directly in front of.

The space has artwork by Florian Roithmayr and a feature that Tideway calls an “intertidal terrace”, where Londoners and tourists will be able to dip their toes in the Thames.

This will be followed by the remaining five locations marking sites of historical importance beside the river.

Ms Donnelly told the Standard that each of the seven new public spaces “will be responsive to the place and the people that are in and around each site”.

“The project is about celebrating the history and changing face of London; how it has grown around its waterways was a big inspiration,” said Ms Donnelly.

“We’re trying to evoke memories and mark important places in the evolution of the Thames and how the city has grown around it.”

The project is a homage to Bazalgette, whose sewers on the Chelsea, Victoria and Albert Embankments, ran beneath beautiful public parks that changed the face of the waterfront, later becoming separated from the Thames by busy main roads.

Each plaza will feature works of art, lush greenery, spaces to stroll and sit and take in views of London.

The other new spaces are at Heathwall Pumping Station at Nine Elms , Albert Embankment , Victoria Embankment , the Blackfriars Bridge foreshore, and an extension of the King Edward Memorial Park in Tower Hamlets.
