Wonderful Africa

We were met and escorted at every airport and helped with all luggage. Each camp was excellent with very comfortable to luxurious accomodations. The food in general was good to excellent (I had one dry piece of chicken one night) with very nice wines to accompany them. The game viewing was far better than I had anticipated, with very personable guides. Camp staffs were wonderful, friendly and tried hard to give us anything we needed or wanted. All of this is the result of great coordination and arrangments but Safari Consultants.

Reply from Safari Consultants

Hi David, many thanks for your review - we are really pleased you had such a great trip and the arrangements all went well. It sounds like the game-viewing was excellent and you were well looked after! Best wishes Rob

Exceptional service

We would highly recommend safari consultants for planning and booking your African holiday. We found Safari Consultants through a referral from an African conservation charity, so we knew we were in the hands of an operator who cared about the impact on the environment and local community. From first point of contact, through to the last minute questions, through to helping to resolve any issues whilst away, Mary and the whole team have been incredibly supportive in making sure we got the holiday of a lifetime - nothing was too much effort! The camp we stayed in was exceptional, the wildlife incredible, and the guides really knew their stuff. You could tell that the in-person visits made by Mary and the team made a real difference, as they were able to answer questions knowledgeably and provide advice based on real experience. We cannot thank you enough for going over and above to support, both with queries when we were in the UK and in Africa, and for ultimately helping us to have the holiday of a lifetime, thank you!

Best holiday ever - cannot fault anything!

Every aspect of the service provided by Safari Consultants was outstanding. Starting with my dialogue with Kelly about what I was looking for from the holiday. The team exceeded my expectations in every way. All connections were incredibly smooth, guides exceptionally knoweldgeable. The Camps at Shinde and Dinaka were incredible in terms of location, facilities and the fabulous staff. The tour operator in Vic falls made some fantatstic suggestions for different things to do in the area. All in all - just brilliant - thank you

Dear Sarah, thank you for the lovely review. I'm so happy that you both had such an amazing time! All the best, Kelly and the team at Safari Consultants,

Highly recommend Safari Consultants

Frances was really helpful, initially giving us a lot of info about safari camps in Kenya based on what we asked her. She then organised our trip to Victoria Falls and finally suggested a wonderful final week at Waterberry Lodge in Zambia when we asked for advice on some down time. Everything went like clockwork. We were met at each stage of our journey. I couldn’t recommend Safari Consultants highly enough.

Hi Elaine, thanks so much for your review and I was so pleased to hear you had such a successful trip and felt fully refreshed at the end. Best wishes, Frances

Fantastic experience

Fantastic experience. We were looked after extremely well both in the build up to the holiday and on location. The safari we experienced was all and more than we expected. Our guides were all very experienced, courteous and looked after us both very well. We would definitely want to go again.

Exceeded expectation

We were really pleased with the trip to South Africa and Zambia organised by Safari Consulting. They chose some lovely Guest Houses. We were impressed with their attention to detail.

Thanks so much for the review Chris and Margaret. I am so pleased you enjoyed your first experience in Africa! Best wishes Michele

Beyond expectation

My wife and I 10 day safari in Tanzania was a dream come true. The quality of transportation, services, safari drives and food was consistently outstanding. We felt privileged to have such a treatment. We have seen all the big animals and more, and more important we have seen the big migration in the Serengeti Park. Our guides were extremely knowledgeable and welcome suggestions to accommodate our needs. Thanks Kelly Mattin for organizing.

Another great trip organised by Safari Consultants.

Customised itinerary to Kenya; Laikipia and the Mara Conservancies. Meet & Greet, air transfers, ground transfers, four camps, airport hotel, it all worked seamlessly for a great trip.

Date of experience : February 18, 2024

Dear Stephen, great to hear your trip went well and you enjoyed all four camps! Many thanks for the review. Best wishes, Rob

Kenyan safari.

Safari Consultants organised a wonderful trip to Kenya for us. The camps were beautiful, the staff friendly, the guides extremely knowledgeable and personable, speaking excellent English. We were extremely well looked after, always someone to meet us, transport us, carry our bags etc and the food in the camps was to a very high standard.

Hi Alison, thanks so much for your review. Great to hear you had such a good trip and were well looked after throughout. Best wishes, Frances

Third time with Safari Consultants

My wife and I have used Safari Consultants three times to organise trips to South Africa and on one occasion Zambia. Their advice and expertise is invaluable and we have had three of the most memorable holidays ever. We cant praise them enough :)

Date of experience : January 31, 2024

Thanks so much for your review Neil, great to hear your most recent trip to South Africa was another success. Best wishes, Frances

Frances at Safari Consultants organised an unforgettable Zambian adventure

We wanted two main things out of the trip: a good chance of seeing Wild Dogs and to catch Tiger Fish on the Zambezi River (fly fishing). We got both in abundance. Safari Consultants take the time to understand what their clients want and the three camps recommended by Frances (Kafunta River Lodge, Tafika Camp and Tusk & Mane's Kutali camp) were the perfect combination of comfort and adventure. The travel logistics were all taken care of and we just had to sit back and enjoy everything Zambia has to offer.

Hi Kathy, thanks so much for your review and so pleased you had such success in Zambia! Best wishes, Frances

Great customer service from Rob Slater

Great customer service from Rob Slater! We have used Safari Consultants many times and as usual they exceeded our expectations! Keep it up !

Hi Vincent, many thanks for your comments and I am really pleased your Botswana safari went well! I look forward to hearing more. Kind regards Rob

Namibia self drive holiday

An excellent trip. I was very impressed with Michele’s knowledge of the country and she was not frightened to recommend changes to my initial itinerary which I really appreciated. Much more of an advisor rather than simply an order taker. Michele’s attention to detail was very welcome and we could not fault any of the lodges nor the trips which had been arranged on our behalf. Self drive is certainly the most practical way of seeing Namibia, but it is then great to jettison the vehicle and rely on local guides.

Date of experience : October 24, 2023

Hi Steve, thanks so much for your review. I am so pleased you had an amazing time in Namibia. It was lovely to hear about all your experiences so thank you for taking the time to email and call me. Best wishes, Michele

Made everything seamless

We used Safari Consultants to plan our honeymoon to the Seychelles. From the very beginning Frances was superb, she listened to what we wanted, gave us accommodation options and planned us a superb trip. Safari Consultants took the stress out of the usual holiday planning at a very busy time in our lives. We would definitely use them again if we go to Africa!

Date of experience : October 21, 2023

Hi Andy, thanks so much for your review. It was great to hear how much you enjoyed the Seychelles. Best wishes, Frances

Fantastic from the start

Fantastic from the start, Rob and team understood what we were after and suggested options to suit our every needs. They gave us all the info we needed and helped us choose our holiday itinerary. They took care of every detail and kept us informed all the way along selecting and booking. The Trip itself was unbelievable!! It was exactly what we had planned and what we expected. every detail was taken care of. Smooth transitions for travel and no issues with checking in and accommodation. This botswana trip has certainly created many family memories. many thanks

Hi Rob, so pleased the trip went so well and that you had such a great family adventure in Botswana. Many thanks for your review and I hope the second part of your holiday is going well! Best wishes, Rob

Superb as ever

In the past six months we have travelled twice on holidays arranged by Michele and both have been superbly well organised. This came as no surprise as we have used Safari Consultants many times and they have been faultless each time. However on both our recent trips local events have caused some disruption, but with one email to Michele or Rob the issues have been sorted out immediately and efficiently to our complete satisfaction. Not only do Safari Consultants arrange superb itineraries, but they have detailed local knowledge and their comprehensive network of contacts means that any problems (not of SC's doing) can be resolved with minimal hassle for their clients. We can't recommend them highly enough.

Date of experience : January 07, 2024

Fantastic company

Fantastic company - looked after our every needs from start to finish. Can’t recommend them highly enough. I have a life threatening nut allergy - they made the safari camp (Off Beat Mara) aware of this and all other hotels we stayed in along the way. Whilst in camp I even had my own chef cooking my food in a different kitchen to everyone else’s food so as to avoid cross contamination from any nuts. Amazing. We will definitely be using you again.

Date of experience : September 28, 2023

Dear Rob and Julia, thank you so much for such a great review, it was a pleasure working on this trip for you and I'm so happy that you all had such an amazing time. With best wishes - Kelly

A truly unforgettable experience from planning through to delivery

Safari Consultants listened to our list of ‘wants & must have’ list and delivered everything and more. They clearly know their stuff and provided expert advice throughout. They provided a great pre-safari package with everything required to prepare ourselves for our adventure. The safari was flawless and we had many special game encounters. We will be back for more….

Hi Steve and Jasia, Thank you for your lovely review and delighted that you had such a wonderful time away. It was good to receive your feedback upon your return and I look forward to seeing some pictures once you get a chance to look through them all! Best wishes, Joe

Amazing… fantastic safari holiday in…

Amazing… fantastic safari holiday in Kenya. Everything was seamless and we couldn’t have wished for more. We were so well looked after by SC staff as well as the people meeting us at the airport, the guides and all the staff at the camps we stayed at

Thanks so much for your review Bridget, so glad you had a great trip and everything went well. Best wishes, Frances

* Lived in Australia for a year in 1973-4, working a wide variety of fascinating jobs; digging roads in Queensland; mining for copper at Mount Isa; working as a jackaroo on a sheep station (baling wool, herding sheep on horseback and by motorbike, harvesting lucerne grass and felling trees); a cattle-drover on a cattle ranch; a waiter at Surfer’s Paradise; a shark-spotter on a Gold Coast beach; First Mate on a shark-fishing boat out of Cairns; First Mate on a pearl lugger out of Broome; journeyed with an Aborigine for a week, learning to live off the land; survived a bush fire beyond the black stump in New South Wales; thrown several times by horses; involved in multiple up-country drinking sessions and bar fights (where 'English' Andrew never threw the first punch).

* Made the first ever recorded sighting in Kenya of Wilson's Storm Petrel in 1979, while shipwrecked out on the Indian Ocean.

* Visited and befriended the hostile Watta tribe in Kenya's remote Tana River Delta. Rightly feared as expert bow-hunters with poison-tipped arrows, the Watta had not seen a white person for 16 years – nor had they ever seen a Coca Cola!

Shann Shaw has been great to work with and she has tried her best to try to meet our budget expectations. She is very kind, responsive and detailed in her explanations and really, really helpful. When I told her I decided to book through expedia or booking, she still explained how everything worked and how these websites sometimes don't have all the details you need, yet, she work hard in getting us our flights and the hotel that we really wanted for this experience. Voygr Expeditions

  • Siberian Tiger Expedition

The Siberian Tiger Expedition has a strong focus on conservation. Explore the magnificent Russian Taiga in winter with renowned Siberian tiger experts.

The Siberian Tiger Expedition

Siberian Tiger Expedition

Far-Eastern Russia is the last remaining stronghold of the majestic Siberian Tiger, the largest of all big cats, with big males weighing up to 300kg. With just around 500 of them left, it is also among the world’s rarest cats. Join us on a winter journey to the magical Russian Taiga and experience the thrill of tracking a Siberian tiger.

Conserving the Siberian Tiger

Voygr works with some of the world’s leading Siberian tiger conservationists in the region. Our main goal here is to help build up ecotourism and bring more money into communities that share their spaces with these big cats, in turn reducing conflict over resources.

The Siberian Tiger Expedition is for adventurous travelers. We’ll travel to a remote area of Khabarovsk Krai, a huge province that borders China, with the legendary Amur river acting as the international boundary between the two countries. Access to our private reserve is via 4×4 through the incredible Boreal forests that define this region.

Stays are in beautiful rustic Russian log cabins. They are insulated and heated. The camp food is delicious with hearty Russian fare served. During the expedition we will accompany Russian Siberian tiger experts on snow mobile setting and collecting camera traps. You’ll get to place your own. The heavy snow means that the tigers actually prefer to walk on the snowmobile paths instead of trudging through deep snow – so there are always tracks visible in the snow each morning.

Chances of actually seeing a Siberian tiger are low because of the thick tree-cover and the immense amount of snow. However, the Reserve reports that on average 1 out of 8 or 9 groups catch a glimpse.

Photographing the Siberian Tiger

Just like on the Amur Leopard Expedition , the most certain way of getting a Siberian tiger in front of your camera is to bait it with a dead deer or boar. However, Voygr does not think this method is ethical and so we do not use it. Instead, we use the same tools that the BBC, Netflix and NatGeo use to get great footage of Siberian tigers. DSLR camera traps. Our tiger experts know by heart the trails, trees, and rocks local tigers use to patrol their territory and leave their scent. We’ll position your DSLR camera traps in the right place. Cameras can be in place for as long as you need, on average 3-6 months, to get show-stopping images. We’ll maintain the traps for you including changing batteries, swapping memory cards, and eventually shipping your equipment back to you. Our photography experts will work with you so you can put together the right kit before coming over.

Bespoke Departures for the Siberian Tiger

We don’t list the itinerary publicly because we have assessed that the habitat is not ready for mass-market tourism. If you’re interested in contributing to protect the Siberian Tiger and embarking on a quest to see it, even if via game cameras, we’d love to build an expedition for you. Unlike our snow leopard expeditions (100% success rate, the Siberian Tiger expedition has a low chance of success to actually see the tiger. However, the experience itself, is a once in a lifetime opportunity.

You’ll get to hang out with tough Russian rangers and anti-poaching teams that have basically saved the Amur leopard and Siberian tiger from the brink of extinction, and experience the immense beauty of the Russian taiga in the winter. For lovers of the outdoors and adventurous travelers, this experience is truly phenomenal. You will have one of the world’s top expedition teams supporting you. Remote regions, winter expeditions, and difficult terrain are what Voygr specializes in. We keep our guests comfortable: no-matter the conditions. You can also combine this expedition with the Amur Leopard Expedition .

Just like all of our other expeditions, this tour is not subcontracted or given over for implementation to any other agency – we control all our own operations. We know the rangers, we know the drivers, and our own expedition leaders guide it.

Why Book With Voygr?

Actually local. at every destination..

We don’t subcontract our tours to “local” companies. We are the local company. At Voygr, our expeditions aren’t planned by “specialists” that have visited a destination once on a familiarization trip, 4 years ago. Our experts live and work in the regions where we take our guests.

Empowering Remote Communities

Our singular mission when starting Voygr almost a decade ago was to put more money into remote communities. Controlling our own operations means that we can own our own infrastructure, hire our own local employees with exclusive contracts and ensure that your dollars actually end up where you’re traveling to instead of lining pockets in NYC or London.

Conservation is Key

Environmental conservation and protecting endangered species are core values. Voygr commits 20% of our annual profits to the High Asia Habitat Fund . In addition, we support several environmental causes. Expeditions with Voygr are not just carbon neutral – they are Carbon Negative.

Consultants close to Rep. Henry Cuellar plead guilty to conspiracy

May 9, 2024 / 5:50 PM EDT / CBS/AP

An aide to Rep. Henry Cuellar and a political and business consultant have agreed to plead guilty to conspiring to help the Democratic congressman from Texas launder more than $200,000 in bribes and to assist prosecutors in a federal criminal investigation, according to court documents unsealed this week.

Federal court records show Mina Colin Strother, Cuellar's former congressional aide, and Florencio "Lencho" Rendon, a political and business strategist, entered guilty pleas in March. Rendon and Strother both pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit money laundering, facing up to 20 years in prison and up to five years in prison, respectively, and fines. Their plea deals also guarantee their cooperation in the Justice Department's investigation into Cuellar and his wife.

The San Antonio Express-News first reported the guilty pleas.

Cuellar and his wife, Imelda Rios Cuellar,  have been indicted on more than a dozen charges alleging they accepted close to $600,000 in bribes from a Mexican bank and an oil company owned by the government of Azerbaijan, in exchange for promoting the bank and energy company's interests. Federal prosecutors allege the bribes were laundered in the form of sham consulting contracts through front companies and middlemen into shell companies owned by Imelda Cuellar. The congressman's wife, according to the indictment, "performed little or no legitimate" work under the consulting contracts.

Rendon knew the contract was a "sham consulting contract" and that the payments of $15,000 per month were made to funnel money to Cuellar, Rendon's plea agreement said.

Rendon would send $11,000 a month to Strother, who would in turn transfer monthly payments to the Cuellars of $10,000. From March 2016 to February 2018, Strother transferred nearly $215,000 to the Cuellars, according to court filings.

The Cuellars have pleaded not guilty, and were released on an unsecured bond. Cuellar has publicly insisted on his innocence.

Russia's Khabarovsk refinery resumes gasoline production, but shortages persist

Gas oline production at Russia's Far East Khabarovsk refinery resumed, deputy Energy Minister Pavel Sorokin said, but there were still long queues at local   gas   stations, according to local citizens.

The Khabarovsk region has experienced   gas oline shortages following unplanned maintenance at the refinery which is owned by Independent Petroleum Company (IPC). Two Khabarovsk citizens said private dealers were offering   gas oline at double the retail price.

According to energy ministry data, isomeric and reforming units have been down at the refinery since Jan. 16.

The refinery usually produces around 1,800 tonnes of   gas oline per day, the energy ministry data shows, and traders said it would have to run at maximum capacity for at least one month to balance the market.

The Khabarovsk government and refinery director Igor Bystrov confirmed   gas oline production had resumed. IPC, headed by Eduard Khudainatov, the former CEO of Russian   oil   giant Rosneft and a close ally of Rosneft's current president Igor Sechin, did not respond to a Reuters request for comment.

The shortage of Far East supply contributed to a jump in Russian   gas oline prices in January, traders said, with the hike prompting Russian   oil   companies to increase   refining   throughput this month.

Gas oline prices in the Khaborovsk region rose faster than anywhere else in the country in January, according to Reuters calculations based on SPIMEX exchange data. They have increased by roughly 10,000 roubles per tonne ($132.1) so far this year.

Khabarovsk, about 6,110 km (3,800 miles) east of Moscow, is the site of long-running anti-Kremlin protests against President Vladimir Putin's handling of a regional political crisis, which have been further fueled by the recent sentencing of Kremlin critic Alexey Navalny.
