JOURNEY TO THE BLUE MOON
In which time is lost and then found again.
by Rebecca Rupp ‧ RELEASE DATE: Oct. 1, 2006
This fast-paced fantasy, dusted with humor, rife with danger and bulging with bizarre characters, delivers wisdom about time use, loyalty, bravery and integrity. Alex loses his grandfather’s stopwatch and notices that time has begun to slip through his fingers. After a chance encounter in the library, Alex learns that to stabilize time, he must retrieve the watch from the moon (where all lost items go) when it is blue. Alex and his dog Zeke are zipped to the moon aboard a rickety and rat-filled space ship. Accompanied by two other seekers, they discover many odd places, such as the Gallery of Ar that houses unfinished art and the chest of wasted talents. They also encounter loathsome creatures such as the Time Eaters; like grim reapers in look and deed, they suck time and nearly kill Zeke. Before the job is done, they must face off with time’s greatest and greediest foe. Among the knowledge Alex gleans along the way, he learns that, “Time isn’t wasted if you’re doing what you love best,” and reading this is absolutely time well spent. (Fiction. 8-12)

LEGACY AND THE DOUBLE
From the legacy series , vol. 2.
by Annie Matthew ; developed by Kobe Bryant ‧ RELEASE DATE: Aug. 24, 2021
A worthy combination of athletic action, the virtues of inner strength, and the importance of friendship.
A young tennis champion becomes the target of revenge.
In this sequel to Legacy and the Queen (2019), Legacy Petrin and her friends Javi and Pippa have returned to Legacy’s home province and the orphanage run by her father. With her friends’ help, she is in training to defend her championship when they discover that another player, operating under the protection of High Consul Silla, is presenting herself as Legacy. She is so convincing that the real Legacy is accused of being an imitation. False Legacy has become a hero to the masses, further strengthening Silla’s hold, and it becomes imperative to uncover and defeat her. If Legacy is to win again, she must play her imposter while disguised as someone else. Winning at tennis is not just about money and fame, but resisting Silla’s plans to send more young people into brutal mines with little hope of better lives. Legacy will have to overcome her fears and find the magic that allowed her to claim victory in the past. This story, with its elements of sports, fantasy, and social consciousness that highlight tensions between the powerful and those they prey upon, successfully continues the series conceived by late basketball superstar Bryant. As before, the tennis matches are depicted with pace and spirit. Legacy and Javi have brown skin; most other characters default to White.

NURA AND THE IMMORTAL PALACE
by M.T. Khan ‧ RELEASE DATE: July 5, 2022
An enthralling fantasy debut exploring exploitation by those in power.
Will 12-year-old Nura be able to outsmart the trickster jinn and save herself and her friends?
Nura lives in the fictional Pakistani town of Meerabagh, where she has worked mining mica to help support her family of five—her mother, herself, and her three younger siblings—since her father’s death. In the mines she has the company of her best friend, Faisal, who is teased by other kids for his stutter, and she enjoys small pleasures like splurging on gulab jamun. Although Maa wants Nura to stop working and attend school, she has no interest in classroom learning and hopes to save up to send her younger siblings to school instead so they can break the family’s cycle of poverty. Following a mining accident in which Faisal and others are lost in the rubble, Nura goes to the rescue. In her quest, she is plunged into the magical, glittering jinn realm, where nothing is as it seems. The author seamlessly weaves into the worldbuilding of the story commentary on real-life problems such as the ravages of child labor and systems that perpetuate inequities. An informative author’s note further explores present-day global cycles of oppression as well as the life-changing power of education. This action-packed story set in a Muslim community moves at a fast pace, with evocative writing that brings the fantasy world to life and lyrical imagery to describe emotions.

Alex sat down and found himself telling Lulu everything. For a talkative person, she was a surprisingly good listener. She pursed her lips as he explained, shook her head sadly when he recounted what his parents had said, nodded sympathetically in all the right places, and gave an excited little bounce in her seat when he described his lost pocket watch with its peculiar saying: Choose time or lose time. "Why, that's your problem, dear, don't you see?" she cried brightly. "That's why everything's in such a tizzy. It went with the watch, you see. It happens all the time, dear, you mark my words. Why, we met a painter once who'd lost his perspective along with his paintbrush, and a sorry state he was in, and there was a whole troupe of acrobats who lost their balance when the laundry misplaced their leotards. You'll have to go and fetch it, of course, to set things back to rights, but that's only fair, and a valuable lesson learned. 'If it comes too easily, you won't appreciate it,' Selena says, and 'No gain without pain,' which used to drive me positively wild when I was a child, but she's quite right, you know, dear, quite right." "I don't understand," Alex said. "What do you mean, go and fetch it? How can I fetch it? Fetch it from where?" "Why, from the Moon, of course, dear," Lulu said, opening her eyes very wide. "That's where all lost things go. To the Moon. You just wait until it turns blue, which should be happening any night now, and then off you go. With a spot of luck, you find what you're after and back before morning, with no one the wiser. 'What they don't know won't hurt them,' that's what Selena used to say. She was a bit of a scamp in her younger days, though you'd never know it to hear her now." She reached down, picked up the large black purse on the floor next to her chair, opened it, and began to root around inside. Alex glanced nervously toward the door. The Rabbity lady was clearly batty. What if she pulled out a knife or something? He hoped, if push came to shove, that he'd be able to outrun her, but on the other hand, he wasn't certain that he could. She looked pretty spry. "The Moon turns blue?" he asked. Keep her talking, he thought. Surreptitiously he wiggled forward in his seat. Lulu snapped the purse shut with an air of having found what she was looking for and sat up. "Well, of course it does, dear. One of our visitors explained it all once. A lovely man, though a bit difficult to understand, to my way of thinking. Still, Selena seemed to follow him well enough, such a head for facts and figures she has, and perfectly comfortable with interdimensional transport and temporal translocation and all the rest of it. That's what the Blue is, dear; it's when the door opens up in space-time between us and them - or rather, us and you, that is - and when we begin to come into the Blue, that's when we can travel back and forth, see the sights, do a bit of shopping." "Sure," Alex said. He took a deep breath. "Could you tell me how to get to the Moon? I mean, it's a long way away." "Oh, mercy, there's no need to worry about that, dear, none at all," Lulu chirped, sitting up very straight in her chair. "There's ways and ways. Something turns up for everyone, if they're a likely candidate, that is, and you'd be amazed, my dear, amazed at what gets pressed into service, though all roads lead to Rome, in a matter of speaking, and it hardly matters once you get there, if you take my meaning." Alex wasn't sure that he did, but he didn't get a chance to say so. Lulu leaned forward suddenly and clutched his arm. Alex noticed that her fingertips sparkled slightly. "Of course, it's not easy, dear," she said in a rapid whisper. "There's a lot out looking for time these days, in a manner of speaking, and some of them not at all nice. But you'll be all right if you pass time by and then pass through it. Can you remember that, dear? And you'll have to beware of Urd." "Urd?" Alex repeated blankly. But the Rabbity lady had picked up her shopping bag, tucked her purse firmly under one arm, and was hastening toward the door. "Well, dear, I must be going. It's been a pleasure chatting with you, but it's late, you know, and Selena gets huffy if I'm late. Still, when I explain, she'll be glad to hear that I could be of help. You just wait until it's full blue, mind, not a moment before, and then you've got three days more or less to do your hunting before the way goes shut. A bit like hide-and-seek, but with a prize at the end." Just as she reached the door, she turned, hurried back to Alex, and pressed something into his hand. "I was almost forgetting," she said. "You'll need that, dear. Just show it at the gate. I'd forget my head if it weren't screwed on tight - that's what Selena is always telling me. Now I really must dash. Best of luck, dear." And with that, she was out the door at a run. Alex stood for a moment, staring at the floor where she had stood. The boards were powdered with glittery bluish dust. Then slowly he opened his hand. He held a flat plastic token about the size of a fifty-cent piece. It was a dull silvery gray and had little ridges all around the edge, like a checker. On one side, in capital letters, it said: admit one. _______

Meet ‘blue ghost’ — the spacecraft set to photograph a sunset on the moon for the first time.

Firefly Aerospace's Blue Ghost Mission 1 descending onto the lunar surface (artist's rendering).
What does a sunset on the moon look like? Abrupt, brief, dramatic. Since the moon has no atmosphere, day turns to night as soon as the sun dips below the horizon. It goes from hot to cold in seconds.
All of that is theoretical because no one has even photographed a sunset on the moon. That will all change later this year when Firefly Aerospace sends its spacecraft, Blue Ghost , to the moon.
Lunar Day And Night
Spacecraft that land on the moon have a short shelf life because they're solar-powered, but day and night don't work the same on the lunar surface as it does on Earth. Since the moon takes a whole month to complete one rotation, lunar day and night in any specific location is around two Earth weeks long. Consequently, most missions that land on the lunar surface tend to land at the onset of that two-week window and operate until they can no longer collect light.
Blue Ghost—named after a rare firefly species found in the U.S. known for its distinctive blue glow—is slightly different.
Sunset On The Moon
Blue Ghost can operate at least five hours into the lunar night. That will be long enough for an onboard camera to snap images of the sun setting on the horizon.

It will do so from close to Mons Latreille, a mountain in Mare Crisium, a basin in the northeast quadrant on the moon's near side. That's northeast of Mare Tranquillitatis, the landing site of 1969's Apollo 11, the first time humans landed on the moon.
Final Testing
Now fully integrated and being shipped from Firefly’s spacecraft facility near Austin, Texas, to NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in California for final environmental testing, Blue Ghost will ship to Cape Canaveral for launch in the last three months of 2024. The mission will be called "Ghost Riders in the Sky."
“After all the hard work, it’s bittersweet to see Blue Ghost leave our Texas-based facility, but we’re more than ready for this final test," said Jana Spruce, Vice President of Spacecraft at Firefly. "We’ll have a dedicated team of Fireflies with the lander every step of the way as Blue Ghost travels from Texas to California to Florida ahead of this historic journey to the Moon.”

Journey To The Moon
After its launch on a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket, Blue Ghost will spend about 45 days getting to the moon, during which a team back on Earth will conduct health checks and begin collecting scientific data.
Once it lands—if it does, softly and safely—it will operate various scientific instruments for 14 Earth days and for at least five hours into the lunar night.
In preparation, Firefly built a one-acre moonscape at its Rocket Ranch facility to test how Blue Ghost could avoid hazards and navigate according to the terrain. That's to ensure it can identify the safest landing site in the final moments of descent before soft-landing on its shock-absorbing footpads.

Lunar Science
Blue Ghost lunar lander can deliver 150 kg of payload to the lunar surface. On board this time will be 10 NASA-supported science instruments and technology demonstrations.
One of the main scientific objectives for Blue Ghost is to find out how the rocks and dust on the moon—known as lunar regolith—react to the solar wind during dusk—the period around when it will capture the first-ever photos of a sunset on the moon.
"Ghost Riders in the Sky" is being conducted as part of NASA's Commercial Lunar Payload Services (CLPS) initiative to encourage the private space industry.
Second Mission
Firefly has plans to eventually send a spacecraft to the moon each calendar year. In 2026, its “Blue Ghost Mission 2” will visit the moon’s far side, this time comprising the Blue Ghost lander and an orbital vehicle called Elytra Dark . It will put the European Space Agency’s Lunar Pathfinder satellite into lunar orbit before deploying Blue Ghost to NASA’s LuSEE-Night radio telescope, which will take advantage of the location—completely shielded from Earth-born radio frequency noise—to study faint light from the beginning of time.
Wishing you clear skies and wide eyes.

All 6 Movies Where Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson Is In The Jungle
All 30 dwayne johnson action movies ranked worst to best, dwayne "the rock" johnson’s franchises ranked worst to best.
- Journey 3: From The Earth To The Moon was canceled due to difficulty in writing the script and Dwayne Johnson's busy schedule.
- The franchise struggled to find a solid script after the success of the second movie, but it may have been for the best considering the lack of fanbase.
- Dwayne Johnson's recent projects have stuck to the familiar tone of the Journey movies, offering audiences similar all-ages adventures.
While the franchise appeared to be riding high after the success of the second movie, Journey 3: From The Earth To The Moon was ultimately canceled and Journey 3 is officially not happening, The series launched with 2008’s Journey To The Center Of The Earth , which was based on the famous novel by Jules Verne and starred Brendan Fraser and Josh Hutcherson. Reviewers found the movie gimmicky due to its use of 3D but it was a solid hit for the studio. Journey 2: The Mysterious Island adapted another Jules Verne novel The Mysterious Island with Dwayne Johnson replacing Brendan Fraser as the main protagonist.
Journey 2 was an even bigger hit than the original, with reviews praising the inclusion of Johnson as the franchise's new leading man . Journey 3 was soon confirmed by the studio, which would adapt Verne’s From The Earth To The Moon , which was initially also going to be filmed alongside Journey 4 . During this era, Johnson made his debut in the Fast and Furious franchise as well as joining 2013's G.I. Joe: Retaliation , cementing his reputation as an actor who could turn around struggling franchises. However, his powers failed to work further on the Journey series as Journey 3 stalled and has since been canceled.
Dwayne Johnson has an impressive resume of many unique movies, however, his career does include one strange trend: movies taking place in the jungle.
Journey 3 Proved Too Hard To Write
Dwayne johnson's busy schedule also caused delays to the journey 2 sequel.
It appears Dwayne Johnson’s hectic workload and focus on other projects when Journey 3 & 4 were still being planned kept pushing them back. Almost nothing was heard about Journey 3 from 2015 to 2018 when Johnson confirmed Journey 3 was canceled because they couldn’t crack the script. This wasn’t much of a shock, considering it had been six years since Journey 2 by that point and there had been little sign of movement on the project. Following the gigantic success of Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle, Johnson moved his attention to that family-friendly adventure franchise with a similar tone which has already become more successful.
In the same way The Mummy star Brendan Fraser was replaced by Dwayne Johnson, the studio could have brought on a new lead actor for Journey 3. However, further recasting would not help the franchise losing both Johnson and Fraser. While the first two movies were fun adventures, Journey wasn’t a franchise that had a burning fanbase either, so it’s easy to see how it fell between the cracks. Johnson’s admission they had trouble coming up with a solid script indicates it might be a good thing Journey 3 didn’t ultimately move ahead too.
Director Brad Peyton and Johnson reteamed again for 2018’s video game adaptation Rampage , and while San Andreas 2 was planned, that feels like another sequel that got lost in the shuffle of Dwayne Johnson’s franchise-heavy schedule. It’s disappointing Journey 3: From The Earth To The Moon didn’t come together, but audiences will have plenty of other Dwayne Johnson movies in the future to make up for it.
The Rock is one of the most bankable stars in Hollywood who has starred in 30 action movies in just over 20 years, and here they are, worst to best.
The Movies Journey Fans Can See Dwayne Johnson In Instead
Johnson's recent projects have stuck to the familiar tone of the journey movies.
Sadly for Journey fans, the past few years have brought with them no signs that Journey 3 might be back on Dwayne Johnson's upcoming slate. Even with the lackluster performance of Black Adam in the DCU , The Rock has kept busy, with Jungle Cruise in particular honoring the spirit of the Journey franchise. Johnson also starred in Netflix's action/comedy Red Notice alongside Ryan Reynolds and Gal Gadot. He's also set to star in Jake Kasdan's holiday adventure film Red One alongside Chris Evans in 2024. These movies all capture that all-ages adventure that was achieved in the first Journey movies and that Johnson has stuck to in recent years.
With Disney's Jungle Cruise likely to kick off another franchise for The Rock, which Dwayne Johnson movie series is best so far?
The Rock Entered The DCEU Twice In 1 Year
Could johnson's failed move into the superhero genre help journey 3.
The multi-talented Dwayne Johnson also broke new ground in 2022 by making his debut in the superhero genre. Johnson actually joined the DCU twice over in the same year with both Black Adam and DC League of Super-Pets . He plays the titular villain/anti-hero in the former movie, and in the latter, he voices Superman's pet, Krypto the Superdog . The animated DC League of Super-Pets continued to deliver the family-friendly mix of humor and adventure Johnson has gravitated towards, particularly because Johnson was joined by one of his most consistent and hilarious co-stars, Kevin Hart, who voices Ace the Bat-Hound.
Black Adam , on the other hand, was a much darker film. Black Adam's DC Comics origin is a gruesome one, and the character mainly appears as an antagonist to Shazam and Superman, although Dwayne Johnson's film shifted that narrative somewhat focusing on Black Adam as a standalone character. This move into the DCU proved unsuccessful with Black Adam sequels already being nixed, the Superman cameo becoming awkward after Henry Cavill's recasting , and the box-office failure of Shazam!: Fury of the Gods . Perhaps this setback will cause Johnson to rethink Journey 3: From the Earth to the Moon .
