Unsafe, no care for their customers at all

Disgusting company, absolutely robbed. WASTE of hard earned money, ANY other theme park would have been better. So many rides closed and broken down, rides NOT maintained with loose safety rails on rides, no regard for customer safety, I will be notifying the ADIPS & The HSE. Be vigilant if you visit this "theme" park. Customer "services" did nothing and just state "we can close rides without notice and we won't offer any compensation" funny how that statement is hidden in terms and conditions and not on the header of their website?...

Over priced and overated by flamingo…

Over priced food in-fact extortionate and overated by flamingo land bosses and adverts. Cost over £200 in entry half the animals there used to be and a good few rides shut. Alton towers a lot better place and value for money . Give it a miss

Stayed here recently

Stayed here recently, and I've got to say, for what it costs, I was very disappointed. The Accommodation was fine, nothing worth bragging about (platinum) but it was comfortable and the staff were friendly enough. However the park, and the overall package Is really poor, starting with the park times 10am to 5pm is not good, summer holidays stay, in the middle of summer and you shut shop at 5? No extension for guests who are staying on site either. The Rides itself, many were either down temporarily, or closed. Velocity has been closed months, which is one of their big attractions.. Sik went down 3 times when my kids were mid 50min queue. And speaking of queues, ridiculous, for anyone just going for a day, I'd say avoid, you'll be lucky to ride 5 things the whole day. Food, now this is where the resort is very very poor, for a starter, the food Is terrible, I don't expect fine dining at a theme park by any means, but I'm sure you can do better then frozen pizzas and then charge £13 for it.. we sat for a meal on our first night.. 2 adults 4 kids, we had burger and chips, they had nuggets and chips, with drinks, and one milkshake each, I'm astonished to say I paid £106! Now imagine we ate out for lunch and dinner for the 4 days, absolutely ridiculous pricing.. More needs to be invested for kids to do on site.. football courts, activitie centres, clubs, would be a good touch, especially as the park closed so early.. Pricing needs looks at across the board.

Waste of money

Took my 13 yr old son and wow we were dissapointed. Place looks run down, rides need a lick of paint. The concrete paths crumbling. Animals look fed up especially the lions. Few of the rides not open. Food extortion prices, and not worth ordering. £56 each to get in to a run down dump. Way over priced, Alton towers way better with more rides and a lot cheaper. Certainly wont be going back.

Issues with main Thrill rides

I would just like to provide some feedback on my family’s visit today. On arrival we walked past Velocity which had a closed sign next to it. I had a chat with the member of staff who advised it had been closed for a number of weeks. We made our way towards Kumali which appeared to be having work done on the brake section at the end of the ride. This did open later in the day but only ran with half capacity the front 4/5 rows populated. Reading reviews this evening this also looks to be something which has been happening over the last few weeks. We did get on Mumbo Jumbo which seemed to be operating quite efficiently as our first ride. We then headed over to Sik which had a queue of around one hour. Once in the station there seemed to be a reoccurring issue with the certain seats which meant the ride couldn’t be released and either people needed to swap seats or leave the ride. This caused the queue wait time to be longer due to the loading time of the ride. Once on the ride itself it was disappointing that the smoke effect in the tunnels wasn’t working. We also found out the F1 ride Flamingo 1 was shut for maintenance which again added to queue time on other rides. I previously visited in April and our experience was much better then compared to today. I didn’t check the website in advance unfortunately which would have advised me of the closure of Velocity but not that Kumali was running at half capacity or the poor operation of Sik. Hopefully you get these issues rectified as I won’t be in a hurry to return

Waste of time got on 2 rides all day several rides shut absolutely ripped off by this company

Avoid American dinner

Great for kids but American dinner last 3 times been 45 minutes waiting for food snd it was empty terrible service. Been took over buy indian people that can't cook.plus the park needs more seats with shelters for shade people sit under trees crazy just spend abit money flamingo land you make enough

A whole day spent at flamingo land to…

A whole day spent at flamingo land to go on 1 ride! Prices extortionate, queues ridiculous. Absolute waste of money. Will not be visiting again.

Date of experience : 16 July 2024

Over priced

Over priced. Was there at 10am and by 3pm,only got on 3 rides due to a massive galour of school trips. Over priced, place is run down. Queuing for 3 hours for one small ride. Half the food shops were closed. Rides kept getting closed off for repairs. Staff were Miserable and didn't bother to stop the kids jumping fences and Skipping the queues. £200 spent to stand in queues and listen to teenagers swear and complain and vape. 3 hour drive so we just left after that. Was really disappointed as we were so looking forward to a fun day out but definitely wouldn't go back there. They don't limit the amount of guests like they should so you miss out on half the rides with waiting times. Day ruined

Date of experience : 17 July 2024

Rickety ride to your death

Can’t believe how much it has gone downhill over the years. Looks scruffy, majority of the rides were shut for repairs. The rides that were open sounded&looked like they were 300years old & needed repairs! We couldn’t go on the main ride as there wasn’t enough people to get on with us (even though the control box had 5/6 staff members literally doing nothing- all miserable faced). So many reviews similar to this too which is more irritating knowing they are aware of this issue - yet still keep the park open for the same price- ripping people off!

Date of experience : 25 April 2024

Excellent location for a family holiday!

Excellent location for a family holiday. We have been coming here since I was a child and it had absolutely everything to do and we still return year after year. From the theme park, zoo, arcades, entertainment, daytime shows and swimming complex. On our most recent visit (April 2024), all rides were open and there were hardly any queues so we went on each ride multiple times. Lots of other reviews say it was very busy and they had to queue for over an hour but this wasn't the case for us. Will definately be coming back again soon and recommending to all my friends with children!

Date of experience : 05 April 2024

Visited Monday

Visited Monday, 8th July. Place was mobbed with schools. Definitely gone downhill since we were last here 10 years ago. Kamali was going but 3 or 4 seat rows seemed out of action so rides were going up with only 8 or 9 folks on and no single rider queue. Queued for flip flop and it broke down. Queued again later in the day and someone was sick on the ride. This was cleaned by sloshing water over the puke and activating the ride to evenly distribute the vomit! They have slowed the ride down and now there is no water under it. Previously, you used to lift right out of your seat at the top but not now. Very tame. Pirate ship again seemed tame even in the back row. The only very exciting ride is Sic which i must say was really excellent. We didnt do too badly getting on rides as the school left at 3. Got on velocity, sic twice, kumali, flip flop, pirate ship, navigator, little monsters. Didnt want to go on veloco raptor as too high for me. Queued for hero but gave up as slow loading. Have been on years ago andit made me dribble all the way round! We enjoyed our day but our kids are older now (youngest 16) so we wouldnt go back. It was fab when our kids were spread over a wide age range as we had kids of an age for every single ride on the park. Not very exciting for kids above 14 - tame rides apart from Sic.

Right royal rip off, avoid at all costs

2 cars and 10 people travelled down today from glasgow, most of the main rides were not working, many eating places also closed, the ones that were open are serving poor quality food, we paid almost £400 between us, we entered the theme park at 11am left raging at 2.15pn, we have been right royaly ripped off by flamingoland, i would not recommend this run down dump to anyone, ww complained to staff at the parkand got absolutely nowhere with them, anyone thinking of going there should seriously avoid doing so, we will never set foot in this dump again

Date of experience : 04 July 2024

Great day out

Went on the hottest day of the year this year. Only velocity wasn’t working but all the others were. Been many years here. Obv nice and quiet Monday to Wednesdays. 10 min max in queues if that. Few animals in hiding as hot. Got there and on rides at 10am did all the rides apart from kids rides by 1pm. Really was a great day. I’ve been to theme parks around the world even though it isn’t Busch gardens Florida. It’s got a good amount of rides for everyone and the zoo is a good walk about. American diner great, quiet day relaxing walk about the whole park and on rides. Typical uk theme park but was a good day.

At just under £180 for 3 people it was…

At just under £180 for 3 people it was expensive, most of the food outlets were closed and the ones available were also and of poor quality. Some of the facilities such as monorail and some rides were also unavailable. The fee did include rides but not the arcades and whole our 2 year old went free many of the kiddies rides weren't suitable. The zoo area was scruffy. On the plus side the staff were pleasant and friendly. Won't be returning in a hurry.

Date of experience : 01 May 2024

Substandard, the public deserve better

We thought we'd have a good family day out with the grandchildren, we got there and found most of the rides were closed. The splash boat had been dismantled for repairs, everything in that area wasn't accessible , when it started to rain a lot of the rides closed, the rides that were open were possibly under staffed because the ques were long and going down very slowly. the track with the racing cars(F1) was a joke , empty cars and they'd only send a couple out at a time so people got frustrated at the long wait. Even Velocity and the train that takes you round the park were closed, they still charged full price though for the visit but delivered a very substandard experience. To sum it up it's not value for money, with poor facilities, too many rides closed which makes it very over priced for what is on offer compared to other venues, with it's scruffy appearance, and very expensive food, not worth the money, at least Dick Turpin had the decency to wear a mask!

£320 for 3 nights in our own tourer

£320 for 3 nights in our own tourer, electric keeps tripping, facilities are DISGUSTING! Grass is overgrown on camp site, dog foul all over, facilities Rarely cleaned, we had to pay £9.80 for 2 waters and a fruit shoot! The food is disgusting, beef on the Sunday lunch is like chewing gum, veg cold, Chinese food was crap undercooked chips, miserable lady behind the counter at the Chinese and over priced again! Enjoyed party in the park that’s always good but apart from that the owner needs to start spending his millions instead of getting his helicopter to transport him over! ALSO the prices need to come down to make it more affordable for normal people!!!!

Date of experience : 01 September 2023

We were really looking forward to…

We were really looking forward to flamingo lands arcades. But on arrival discovered that using the machines had changed, from using cash to cards. We prefer the old fashion way. And its better to keep track on what you spend. Using cards spoilt our daughters experience. Will definitely not use there arcades again. Also ordering food in the American diner was daft. We left. Staff were miserable.

Willow Grove

Just come across this review regarding willow grove and have to 100% disagree, I’ve stayed in this van many times and the owners are lovely, it also states in their terms and conditions about cancellation that we have to sign before we can book a holiday. No travel company would give you a refund days before you were due to arrive!! Maybe get yourself travel insurance like we do? Lovely caravan on a great location we’ve already booked back up for 2024!

17. Tsaritsyno Palace

Tsaritsyno Palace

Once the summer residence of Catherine the Great, the stunning Tsaritsyno Palace is now a museum-reserve. The architecture is magnificent and there is a lovely park surrounding it for visitors to explore.

Located in the south of Moscow, the palace was commissioned in 1775 and recent renovations mean its lavish interior looks better than ever before with its elegant halls and beautiful staircases.

The exhibits on display look at the life of the empress as well as the history of Tsaritsyno itself. The huge palace grounds are also home to some other delightful buildings with the elegant opera house and wonderful brickwork of the Small Palace being particularly impressive to gaze upon.

VDNKh

Starting out in 1935 as the ‘All-Union Agricultural Exhibition’, VDNKh has slowly morphed over the years into the fascinating open-air museum of today. Remarkably, over 400 buildings can now be found within its confines.

The huge park complex has numerous pavilions representing former Soviet republics on show, such as those of Armenia and Turkmenistan and the distinctive architecture of each of the buildings is always interesting to gaze upon. In addition to this there is the fascinating Memorial Museum of Cosmonautics which is dedicated to space exploration and the fun Moskvarium aquarium even offers you the chance to swim with dolphins.

With lots of eateries scattered about and numerous entertainment options such as horse-riding and zip-lining, there is something for everyone to enjoy; the Friendship of Nations fountain truly is wonderful.

15. Kremlin Armoury

Kremlin Armoury

One of the oldest museums in the city, the Kremlin Armoury has a wealth of treasures; highlights include the ornate Grand Siberian Railway egg, the historic Cap of Monomakh and the stunning Imperial Crown of Russia which often has a crowd of tourists around it, jostling to take a photo.

Once the royal armory, there are loads of fascinating objects on display. Perusing the many sabers, jewelry, armor and more is as interesting as it is educational and entertaining and the swords are so finely crafted that you’ll almost wish you could pick up one and wield if yourself.

Established in 1851, the museum is situated in the Moscow Kremlin.

14. GUM Department Store

GUM Department Store

Standing for ‘Main Universal Store’ in Russian, GUM is stunning. Its wonderful skylights and beautiful facades mean it doesn’t look out of place alongside its illustrious neighbors on Red Square.

With over 200 shops, boutiques and upmarket eateries inside, it is a shopaholic’s heaven and concerned partners will be glad to find more affordable options alongside luxury brands such as Dior and Prada.

The main department store in the city, GUM was opened in 1893. The stunning architecture makes it well worth a visit even if shopping isn’t your thing.

13. Moscow Metro

Moscow Metro

It’s not often that public transport looks like a work of art. So many stops on the Moscow Metro will astound visitors with their beauty and elegance.

Decked in marble and with frescoes covering the walls, the stations are amazing to gaze upon and are part of one of the longest metro systems in the world, with the first stations opened in 1935.

Using the metro is the quickest and easiest way to get around Moscow and braving the crowds of commuters is well worth it for the beauty all around you.

12. Arbat Street

Arbat Street

An elegant yet lively street, Arbat is full of impressive architecture and was once a popular place to live for aristocrats, artists, and academics.

A historic place, it is down Arbat Street that Napoleon’s troops are said to have headed on their way to capture the Kremlin.

Nowadays, there are many cafes, restaurants, and shops, as well as various monuments and statues to former residents such as Alexander Pushkin who was reputed to be a lover of the Russian Empress due to his massive influence in court.

11. Novodevichy Convent

Novodevichy Convent

Drenched in history, the Novodevichy Convent is located in a striking building that was once a fortress. This captivating place is well worth visiting when in Moscow.

Founded in 1524, the convent houses four cathedrals; Smolensk Cathedral is the undoubted highlight due to its delightful 16th-century frescoes.

Wandering around the grounds is like stepping back in time. The Novodevichy Cemetery is where many famous leaders of the Soviet Union are buried, such as Yeltsin and Khrushchev.

10. Pushkin Museum

Pushkin Museum

Despite its name, the Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts actually has no connection at all to the famous poet other than that it was named in his honor after his death. A delight to visit, its extensive collection focuses on European art with masterpieces by Botticelli, Rembrandt, and van Gogh all featuring.

Sculptures, graphic art, paintings and more can be found in its beautiful galleries; various sections look at themes and epochs such as the Renaissance, the Dutch Golden Age, and Byzantine art.

Among the many highlights are the clownish characters which can be found in Cezanne’s Fastnacht (Mardi Gras) and the twirling ballerinas who look so elegant in Degas’ Blue Dancers. Picasso’s Young acrobat on a Ball is also well worth checking out for its interesting use of shapes and colors.

9. Christ The Savior Cathedral

Christ The Savior Cathedral

This gorgeous Russian Orthodox cathedral is located on the banks of the Moskva River, just a stone’s throw away from the Kremlin.

The church as it stands today was consecrated in 2000, as the original church that stood here was destroyed on the command of Josef Stalin in 1931 due to the anti-religious campaign.

With its delightful golden dome, spires and dazzling white facades, the Christ the Savior Cathedral is stunning. The interior is just as captivating to wander around, with its beautifully tiled floors and impressive altar.

8. Lenin Mausoleum

Lenin Mausoleum

Opened to the public in 1924, Lenin’s Mausoleum is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Moscow. The red granite structure is located at the heart of the city in Red Square.

Lenin’s embalmed body lies in a glass sarcophagus; it is a somewhat eerie experience walking past the former leader of the Soviet Union but is well worth doing as you understandably can’t do it anywhere else in the world.

After visiting the mausoleum, head to the Kremlin wall right next to it for more graves of important communist figures such as Stalin and Brezhnev.

7. Tretyakov Gallery

Tretyakov Gallery

Home to the most extensive and impressive collection of Russian fine art in the world, the State Tretyakov Gallery is definitely worth visiting when in Moscow for the wealth of amazing art pieces that it has on display.

Having started out as the private art collection of the Tretyakov brothers, there are now over 130,000 exhibits. Highlights include the iconic Theotokos of Vladimir which you will almost certainly recognise despite probably not knowing the name and Rublev’s Trinity which is considered to be one of highest achievements in Russian art.

An absolute must for art lovers, the State Tretyakov Gallery will delight visitors with all that is has to offer.

6. Kolomenskoye

Kolomenskoye

Once a royal estate, Kolomenskoye is now a museum-reserve and lies a few kilometers outside of the city center. A captivating place to visit, there is a plethora of history on show and the site overlooks the Moskva River.

Consisting of four historical sites, there are extensive gardens for visitors to explore, as well as loads of interesting old buildings, the former village of Kolomenskoye itself and the impressive Palace of the Tsar Alexey Mikhailovich – once considered the Eighth Wonder of the World by contemporaries.

Among the many stunning sights, it is the brilliantly white Ascension Church that is the undoubted highlight – dating back to 1532.

5. Gorky Park

Gorky Park

Lying alongside the Moskva River, the huge Gorky Park is a lovely place to visit. Its extensive gardens are home to numerous cultural institutions and visitors should definitely check out the Garage Museum of Contemporary Art and while the eclectic exhibits may not always feature such incredible sights as a balloon-covered rider on a zebra; they certainly always succeed in pushing back the boundaries of art.

Pop-up exhibitions and festivals can be found from time to time in the park itself and there is an open-air theatre and numerous eateries alongside a plethora of leisure activities.

Whether it’s cycling, table tennis or yoga that you are after or beach volleyball and rowing, Gorky Park certainly has it. In winter, there is a huge ice rink for visitors to enjoy.

4. Bolshoi Theatre

Bolshoi Theatre

The Bolshoi Theatre is the main theater in the country. The amazing opera and ballet performances it has put on over the centuries go a long way in explaining Russia’s rich history of performing arts.

While the Bolshoi Ballet Company was established in 1776, the theater itself was opened in 1825. The glittering, six-tier auditorium is lavishly and decadently decorated; it is a fitting setting for the world-class performances that take place on its stage.

Spending a night watching a performance of such classics as The Nutcracker or Swan Lake at the Bolshoi Theatre is sure to be a memorable experience and the beauty all around you only adds to the sense of occasion.

3. Moscow Kremlin

Moscow Kremlin

This famously fortified complex is remarkably home to five palaces and four cathedrals and is the historic, political and spiritual center of the city. The Kremlin serves as the residence for the country’s president. It has been used as a fort, and this fact is made clear by its sheer size. The Kremlin’s outer walls were built in the late 1400s.

Under Ivan III, better known as Ivan the Great, the Kremlin became the center of a unified Russian state, and was extensively remodeled. Three of the Kremlin’s cathedrals date to his reign that lasted from 1462-1505. The Deposition Church and the Palace of Facets were also constructed during this time. The Ivan the Great Bell Tower was built in 1508. It is the tallest tower at the Kremlin with a height of 266 feet (81 meters).

Joseph Stalin removed many of the relics from the tsarist regimes. However, the Tsar Bell, the world’s largest bell, and the Tsar Cannon, the largest bombard by caliber in the world, are among the remaining items from that era. The Kremlin Armory is one of Moscow’s oldest museums as it was established more than 200 years ago. Its diamond collection is impressive.

The Kremlin’s gardens – Taynitsky, Grand Kremlin Public and Alexander – are beautiful. The Kremlin has also served as the religious center of the country, and there is a tremendous number of preserved churches and cathedrals here. The collections contained within the museums include more than 60,000 historical, cultural and artistic monuments. Those who enjoy the performing arts will want to consider attending a ballet or concert at the State Kremlin Palace. Completed in 1961, it is the only modern building in the Kremlin.

2. Red Square

Red Square

Lying at the heart of Moscow, Red Square is the most important and impressive square in the city. It is one of the most popular tourist attractions due to its wealth of historical sights and cultural landmarks.

Drenched in history, the huge square is home to incredible sights such as the Kremlin, St. Basil’s Cathedral and Lenin’s Mausoleum, among others. Consequently, it is not to be missed when in Moscow as it really is home to the city’s most stunning monuments.

It is here that many important moments in Russian history took place; the former marketplace has hosted everything from Tsar’s coronations and public ceremonies to rock concerts and Soviet military parades. Wandering around the massive square is a humbling experience and undoubtedly one of the highlights the city has to offer.

1. Saint Basil’s Cathedral

Saint Basil's Cathedral

Located in the impressive Red Square, St. Basil’s Cathedral is gorgeous; its delightful spires appear as if out of a fairytale. The most recognizable building in the country, the cathedral is very much a symbol of Russia. No visit to Moscow is complete without having taken in its unique and distinctive features.

Ivan the Terrible ordered the cathedral’s construction in the mid-16th century, and legend holds that Ivan put out the architect’s eyes so that he would be unable to build another cathedral more glorious than St. Basil’s. Designed to resemble the shape of a bonfire in full flame, the architecture is not only unique to the period in which it was built but to any subsequent period. For various reasons, both Napoleon and Stalin wanted to destroy the cathedral but fortunately did not succeed.

Known for its various colors, shapes and geometric patterns, St. Basil’s Cathedral houses nine different chapels that are all connected by a winding labyrinth of corridors and stairways. On the lower floor, St. Basil’s Chapel contains a silver casket bearing the body of St. Basil the Blessed.

Throughout the cathedral are many beautiful murals, frescoes, wooden icons and other art works and artifacts. Outside the cathedral is a lovely garden with the bronze Monument to Minin and Pozharsky, who rallied an all-volunteer Russian army against Polish invaders during a period of the late 16th century known as the Times of Troubles.
