Glaciares Gourmet

Glaciares Gourmet experience offers the most exclusive service in Los Glaciares National Park  from El Calafate, crossing the waters of the Argentinian Lake aboard the  ‘María Turquesa’  Cruise and visiting the  Upsala, Spegazzini and Perito Moreno glaciers .  It is the only navigation that allows you to visit the three main glaciers of the national park in the same day , combining it with a walk through the forest on the Spegazzini Canal. ‘Glaciares Gourmet’ proposes to cross the waters of the  ‘Lago Argentino’  sailing in front of walls of more than 50 meters high, deep blue ancient ice and majestic icebergs, allowing you to enjoy nature in all its magnitude. What differentiates this excursion from other similar ones is that it offers a one hour  walk in the forest inside the Spegazzini Canal , a visit to the Upsala, Spegazzini and Perito Moreno glaciers in the same day and an additional lunch is offered on board with a menu of the Premium Lounge.

The ship has capacity for 200 passengers  distributed in two rooms (the Main deck with capacity for 180 passengers and the  Premium deck with capacity for 16 passengers ) and is aimed at those travelers who seek personalized attention and excellent service on board. The Premium lounge is equipped with its own kitchen, toilet and private sun deck, characterized by offering a four-course tasting menu presented by the chef on board. The cruise allows you to comfortably contemplate the majesty of the glaciers and landscapes, from its four exterior sun decks. If you book ‘Glaciares Gourmet’ with transfer from your hotel in El Calafate, we will pick you up from 7:00 am. to go to ‘Puerto Punta Bandera’. There, the navigation begins in the direction of the iceberg barrier of the ‘Upsala Canal’, to cross it and go to the Spegazzini Glacier, which is the highest in the country, where it will descend in ‘Puesto de las Vacas’. Here the engines of the ‘María Turquesa’ Cruise are silenced and an interesting walk coordinated by the team of guides takes place. Once back on the boat, the navigation towards the Perito Moreno Glacier is undertaken while the gourmet lunch is offered on board for the passengers who sail on the Premium Deck. After visiting this third glacier, the return to the port of ‘Punta Bandera’ is undertaken, to then return to your hotel in El Calafate.

Gourmet Glaciers with transfer: The passenger will be picked up at the hotel where they are staying and at the end of the tour they will be returned to the same place. If you are not staying in a hotel/hostel, a meeting point will be assigned to begin the pick up.

Gourmet Glaciers without transfer: Passengers must arrive at the Punta Bandera Port at the indicated time. The transfer can only be added more than 7 days in advance of the chosen date. Check route here .

Box Lunch Menu: Chicken sandwich / snacks / drinks. Premium Menu: Country terrine / northern humita soup / lamb shoulders with olive tapenade, black beans and ground vegetables / alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks.

Todo Glaciares Boat Tour

This tour offers flexible transportation options. If arriving at the Puerto Punta Banderas Pier is not possible by private car (about 29 mi from the city), travelers can choose the pick-up option from El Calafate.

Tour itinerary

Pick up in el calafate or meeting at punta bandera port.

The Todo Glaciares boat tour has two pick-up options, navigation only or navigation with transfers to and from El Calafate. If you select the option with transfers, you will be picked up at your accommodation in El Calafate around 7:00 am and set course to Puerto Punta Banderas, which is 29.2 miles (47 km) away. If you choose the option without transfers, (it is ideal to have your vehicle), you will have to go directly to the port, where you will meet the rest of the group at 8:30 in the morning.

Upsala Channel Navigation

At 8:30 am guests will begin boarding and your guide will take the time to discuss the tour and its features. At 9:00 am the boat will leave port to sail along the northern arm of Lake Argentino to reach the Upsala Channel, famous for its abundant ice floes that break from the wall of the Upsala Glacier.

Seco and Spegazzini Glacier (Los Glaciares National Park)

The Todo Glaciares tour includes the Spegazzini Channel and passes by the Seco Glacier, a hanging glacier that does not touch the water. After passing by the Seco Glacier you will have the opportunity to view Spegazzini Glacier as well. Did you know that it holds the title of tallest glacier in the national park?

Disembarkation at Base Spegazzini

Before returning to port, you’ll make a stop at the "Refugio Spegazzini," a site specially designed for this tour. It features a viewpoint, terrace, and a large dining room. At the refuge you can stretch your legs on the paseo that is accessible and suitable for all travelers. During this part of the tour your guides will also teach the group about the Andean-Patagonian forest. Some free time for lunch will be provided. Enjoy a meal with stunning views of the glacier wall.

Return to Punta Bandera Port / El Calafate

The All Glaciers tour comes to an end by sailing back to Punta Bandera Port. The ship will dock around 4:00 pm finally concluding this incredible adventure. If you have selected the option with transfers, a vehicle will be waiting for you at the port to take you back to your accommodation in El Calafate, where you should arrive at approximately 5:15 pm.

The city of El Calafate is located 1,864 mi from Buenos Aires, and 202 mi from the city of Río Gallegos, the capital of the province of Santa Cruz. The airport has direct daily connections with Buenos Aires, Ushuaia, Bariloche, Trelew, Cordoba, and Rosario. Several airlines operate this route, with Aerolineas Argentinas as the most frequent one. At Howlanders, we also recommend considering LADE Airlines. If you want to arrive by land the best option is via bus. The trip between Buenos Aires and El Calafate takes about 36 hours and from Río Gallegos, the trip is about four hours. If you’ll be traveling from Puerto Natales we recommend taking a bus that arrives at El Calafate in about five hours or hiring a private service with us . Finally, if you are traveling from Ushuaia, please check the wait times due to the crossing of the Strait of Magellan or stopover in Rio Gallegos.

This tour is a 1 hour boat ride in front of the north face of the Perito Moreno Glacier , considered the most beautiful face. It is an ideal excursion if you visit the glacier on your own by car because it complements the visit to the balconies with an approach to the face of the glacier from the water , with the possibility of seeing floating icebergs and occasional landslides from close up. The tour has several daily departures from Puerto Moreno (located in the beginning of the balconies in front of the lower parking lot of the glacier) on the Canal de los Témpanos. A few seconds after departure, the boat approaches to the front of the north wall of the glacier, where you can appreciate its great height and size from a totally different perspective than what is seen from the balconies. You will see the contact area between the Perito Moreno Glacier and the peninsula where the famous ice bridge forms and the glacier breaks every few years. This phenomenon has made the Perito Moreno Glacier known worldwide for its spectacular nature.
