About the author
Lan Sluder is a writer who specializes in books on travel and retirement, especially in Belize and the Southeastern United States. Among Sluder's 28 books and ebooks are 17 books and ebooks on Belize and the neighboring sections of Guatemala and Mexico. His Belize books include the best-selling Fodor's Belize, Lan Sluder's Guide to Belize, Living Abroad in Belize, Adapter Kit: Belize, Easy Belize (2nd ed., 2016, with nearly 70 Amazon reviews), Lan Sluder's Guide to the Cayes, Coast and Beaches of Belize, San Pedro Cool and Lan Sluder's Guide to Mainland Belize. His latest Belize book is Bug Out to Belize. Sluder is also founder, editor and publisher of Belize First Magazine.
Sluder also focuses on Asheville and the mountains of North Carolina. He is the author of Amazing Asheville, Live the Good Life in Asheville and Asheville: Relocation, Retirement and Visitor Guide. Sluder has also written books on the game of bridge, Play Bridge Today, a book on buying vintage British cars, Buy a Classic Rolls-Royce or Bentley, and a book on the 25 most intriguing private eyes in books, film and television, Murder!
A former business newspaper editor in New Orleans, Sluder has contributed articles on travel, retirement and business subjects to publications around the world, including The New York Times, Chicago Tribune, Miami Herald, New Orleans Business, Where to Retire, Globe and Mail, St. Petersburg Times, Bangkok Post, The Tico Times, Charlotte Observer and Caribbean Travel & Life.
When not in Belize or traveling elsewhere in the world, he lives on a mountain farm near Asheville, North Carolina.

What's the best fast food in the US? This travel guide picks a Wisconsin brand.
The best fast food restaurant in the United States , according to Fodor's Travel , has a Wisconsin flavor.
Of course, it's Culver's .
Fodor's Geena Truman wrote that she spent a year "driving around the U.S. on a quest to eat (and experience) the true culture of America."
She ranked 12 fast-food chains, leaving out large corporations like McDonald's, Wendy's and Burger King.
And in the top spot as "the most delicious fast food pit stop in America" is Culver's, the restaurant founded in Sauk City in 1984 by George, Ruth, Craig and Lea Culver.
The article said Culver's "gives the outer appearance of fast-food but outperforms all others in taste."
The rest of the list? In order, it's Shake Shack, In-N-Out, Whataburger, Raising Cane's, Five Guys, Chick-fil-A, Dave's Hot Chicken, Kelly's Roast Beef, White Castle, Dick's and Zips (tied) and Jollibee.
