About Wavves

About Wavves

Wavves is an alternative indie rock band based in San Diego, California. Formed in 2008, the band has always been built to feature the best parts of the indie and alternative scene with lyrics and music that is impactful and true to the spirit of a generation. And some of the catchier beats have also toyed with a pop-punk and surf rock spirit that could only come out of California. Wavves is led by singer-songwriter Nathan Williams and also features Alex Gates (guitar, backing vocals), Stephen Pope (bass guitar, backing vocals), and Ross Traver (drums and backing vocals). 

The band got their start in 2008 when they released several 7’’s and a cassette that led up to their first self-titled album. Theythen recruited Ryan Ulsh as a touring drummer and went on their first US and European tour. This earned them the attention of Pitchfork Media who backed them in releasing their second album, “Wavvves”, which was well received by Spin, The A.V. Club, and Pitchfork to name a few outlets.

Soon after, the band went through some changes following the cancellation of several shows of their European tour. This included new members joining Wavves and the tease of a new album featuring Zach Hill on drums expected towards the end of 2010 and a possible EP.

Today, the band is still going strong. As Wavves released the single “Sinking Feeling” on March 30, 2021. This was followed by the release of their seventh studio album Hideaway later that year. And many longtime fans consider this album a return to form with several critics giving it generally positive reviews.

Wavves and Cloud Nothings Announce 2023 North American Tour

Wavves and Cloud Nothings are going on a co-headlining tour of North America this summer. The bands link up June 8 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, for 22 dates before going their separate ways six weeks later in Sacramento, California. It’s their first extended tour together since releasing their collaborative LP, No Life for Me , in 2015. Check out the full list of tour dates below.

Wavves toured last summer in celebration of the 12th anniversary of their 2010 LP, King of the Beach . They released Hideaway in 2021.

Cloud Nothings celebrated 10 years of their 2010 LP, Attack on Memory , with a tour last fall. Their last album was 2021’s The Shadow I Remember .

The 'T-Shirt Weather' rockers will headline venues in Bristol, Nottingham, Manchester and more next year

British indie rock group Circa Waves have announced dates for their 2023 UK Never Going Under Tour . Tickets go on sale at 10am on Friday 7 October.

The Liverpool natives will kick off the string of shows on Monday 23 January at the O2 Academy in Oxford before heading to the O2 Academy in Bristol and Nottingham's Rock City. They'll headline the O2 Victoria Warehouse in Manchester on Friday 27 January.

The following evening they will head to the O2 Academy in Sheffield and then head to Scotland for shows at Glasgow's O2 Academy and Aberdeen's Music Hall. They'll round off the trek with shows in Newcastle, London and Wolverhampton in February.

The tour will support their upcoming fifth album Never Going Under which is set for release on Friday 13 January 2023. The latest single from the Happy follow-up, 'Do You Wanna Talk' was released earlier this month and follows 'Hell On Earth'.

Circa Waves have announced a huge UK headline tour for January/February 2023, full details below.

The   Never Going Under Tour will be in support of the band’s highly anticipated fifth album of the same name, which was announced last week for release 13 January 2023 via Lower Third / PIAS.

Speaking about the tour, frontman Kieran Shudall said: “We are so excited to get out and play in front of you all again! These new tunes are gonna sound massive live alongside all our other records. See you soon. Can’t wait!”

Announced today, the 2023 tour will see the band play iconic venues around the country, including O2 Academy Brixton in London on Friday 3 February.

Never Going Under is the band’s highly anticipated fifth record, and the encapsulation of a continued upward trajectory for Circa Waves over the last decade. Becoming one of Britain’s most influential and adored guitar bands, the four piece’s dedication to constantly developing their sound has seen them secure increasingly high positions in the Official Album Charts, as well as amassing an army of dedicated fans.

Never Going Under comes fresh in the wake of a huge summer for Circa Waves, with massive main stage festival performances and the release of the surprise EP Hell On Earth.

The latest stage in their illustrious career, this record sees the band continue to push themselves into new territories and effortlessly cement their place in the scene.

 Tickets for the tour go on sale next Friday (7th October) at 10am, with O2 and fan presales running from Tuesday onwards. The full list of dates can be found below, and Circa Waves new album is available to pre-order here .

Saw them last night 6th Oct at Cyprus Avenue with Swimming Girls. Unfortunetely missed King Nun.

Swimming Girls I would say most didn't know them but definitely made a good impression. Especially the drummer.

Crowd was great, energetic, although lots of screaming as you'd expect which Heather funnily referenced "You guys are screamers aren't you?" Crowd was singing along with their songs too so there was great balance between crowd and band energy.

Pale Waves themselves were great of course too. Heather had good stage presence, interacted a bit with Ciara a bit during an instrumental which was fun. Really appreciative of fans, talked to people for a while after, hugged a few fans. I bought a nice "Noises" t-shirt and we got photos with the band. Well worth the money.

Their songs have a great structure for live shows with lighting, as there's a stop in some of their songs before the catchy chorus comes on, and people just start jumping and singing along.

Looking forward to their new music, but I do hope they step out of their comfort zone to define their own sounds and will definitely support them in doing so.

This was my first concert ever so maybe most concerts/bands/crowds are similar in some ways, but damn was it a great night regardless.

Pale Waves is the perfect blend of emo, pop rock and they really know how to get a crowd moving!!! They have a similar instrumental sound to older pop artists such as Whitney Houston or vibes like Micheal Jackson. If you love the 1975, this is a new heart throb you’ll enjoy. Lady crush...Also, who doesn’t love the British accent???? If you’re looking for a show or the perfect time to get up and dance, Pale Waves is a must see!!

The Rebel Lounge is a smaller more intimate venue, which is the best way to get a great picture or video of your favorite artist. 10/10 every time!!

Didn’t see pale waves but courteeners was the biggest let down of a gig I’ve ever seen, all the benefits were in vip and behind the barrier we could hardly see or hear and everyone was so pissed off the atmosphere was ruined, I want a refund as £50 was a lot of money for me and I’m completely let down and disappointed as they don’t even seem to care about their fans at all- I tried to complain on Instagram but they deleted my comments.

One of the best concerts I've been to! Super in love with their live performances and he crowd. Saw the first at The 1975's UK Tour when they were supporting acts, immediately bought tickets and lined up early to see them live again on their own headlining show!

I would 100% love to see them again, it was one of the best shows I have ever been to! It was exiting and they interacted with the crowd and the atmosphere was just so lively and exiting, I can tell that they will be huge in the future!

they were honestly so good, heather has an amazing voice and the whole band is very talented. their merch is really nice and everyone was having a good time, jumping and singing. would definitely go to see them again.

From the moment Ciara, Heather, Charlie, and Hugo appear on Stage you instantly feel the immense presence of the experience you'll experience. A powerful performance full of equally strong, embracing visuals.

The show was absolutely amazing 11/10 the crowd just gets a different kind of air when the band comes on stage. Although not a very long set they performed it AMAZINGLY definetly would go see them again

Childish Gambino announces 'The New World Tour': See full list of dates

Childish Gambino, aka Donald Glover , has announced a world tour that will cover North America, Europe, Australia and New Zealand.

The North American leg of the tour, called "The New World Tour," will feature 33 dates and will begin in Oklahoma City on Aug. 11. The final stop on the leg will be in Chicago on Oct. 3.

The European leg of the tour kicks off Oct. 31 in Lyon, France and ends Dec. 5 in Dublin, Ireland, and will feature 18 stops across the continent. The Australia and New Zealand portion kicks off on Jan. 28, 2025 and wraps up on Feb. 11, 2025.

Alongside the world tour, Gambino also surprised fans with the release of " Atavista ," a new version of his 2020 album " 3.15.20 ," which includes two new tracks, titled "Atavista" and "Human Sacrifice."

Taylor Swift's Eras Tour is set to be one of the biggest tours of the year and fans are desperate to get their hands on tickets - here's how you can still get resale tickets

It's now less than a month until Taylor Swift takes to the stage in the UK, starting off the British leg of her Eras tour in Edinburgh on June 7. And for fans who haven't been lucky enough to get their hands on tickets yet, it may not be a Cruel Summer after all - as there are still limited tickets available and up for grabs.

We're all aware that scoring tickets has proven tough for the Swifties, as the shows in Edinburgh, Liverpool, Cardiff, and London sold out nearly as soon as tickets were up for grabs.

But Ticketmaster is still showing 'low availability' for tickets in the English, Scottish, and Welsh capital cities, as well as 'limited availability' for the shows in Liverpool - although bear in mind that any official resale tickets are likely to be snapped up in no time.

If that doesn't pan out, you could also try secondary ticket resale platforms such as viagogo and VividSeats , both of which currently have tour tickets on offer. But be prepared to shell out for these, as tickets on viagogo are listed for as much as £5,663 for her penultimate night in London - and an eye-watering £6,452 a pop for her final UK show, on August 17.

Indeed, at the time of writing, her most affordable resale tickets are up for grabs for £236 each on viagogo , for Edinburgh night three, and £323 each on VividSeats , also for Edinburgh.

A representative for viagogo , the ticket resale marketplace, told the Mirror : "The European leg of Taylor Swift's Eras tour has been long anticipated. We've not seen anything like this since The Beatles, and with tickets having only just gone on sale, demand is at its peak right now.

" Viagogo is a regulated marketplace where fans have the freedom to buy and sell tickets to their favourite live events, safely and securely, backed by a guarantee. Sellers on our marketplace may list tickets at high values when demand is high, but prices can change and tend to reduce over time.

"We recommend Swifties wait for demand to settle, and check regularly for a listing that meets their budget. Tickets for Taylor Swift's UK dates have already sold for as low as 172 GBP on our platform. Also, tickets listed at eye-catchingly high levels rarely, if ever, sell."

Meanwhile, AXS, one of Taylor Swift's authorised ticket sellers, urged fans to avoid buying resale tickets from unverified sources, saying: "The only way to obtain a valid ticket for Taylor Swift's shows is via an official agent. Nilüfer Yanya announces UK, European and North American 2024 tour

Lutalo, Eliza McLamb and Angélica Garcia will serve as opening support on select dates

Nilüfer Yanya has announced a 2024 UK, European and North American tour set to kick off later this year.

Kicking off on September 28 at the Underground Arts in Philadelphia, Yanya will make her way across the US with stops in major cities such as Washington D.C., New York, Boston, Montreal, Chicago, Nashville and more. The North American leg of the tour will wrap up on October 24 at the Fonda Theatre in Los Angeles.

From there, she will make her way to Europe with shows in Brussels, Amsterdam, Berlin and Paris before heading over to the UK for gigs in Brighton, Bristol, London and Nottingham. The tour will wrap up on December 5 at Academy 2 in Manchester.

The announcement of a tour comes after the singer’s release of her new single ‘Like I Say (I Runaway)’ . The song marked the first release from the singer-songwriter since her 2022 album ‘Painless’ .

In  a three-star review of her previous record ,  NME  wrote: “Even if ‘Painless’ occasionally settles into a consistent, thudding groove at times, when Yanya goes full pelt, she’s at her very best.”

Last year saw  Yanya team up with Bombay Bicycle Club on the song ‘Meditate’  from the band’s latest album  ‘My Big Day’ . She was praised by  NME  for adding a “personable touch” to the song.

Donald Trump has arrived at Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium for Sunday’s F1 race as he takes a break from his high-profile hush-money trial in New York.

The security surrounding the event in Florida has been significantly increased following the former US President’s decision to attend the sixth round of the F1 campaign.

The 77-year-old, currently on trial in New York for allegedly falsifying documents to cover up hush money payment to adult film star Stormy Daniels, headed to the McLaren garage to meet the British team’s CEO Zak Brown, F1 boss Stefano Domenicali and FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem.

After Trump’s visit, McLaren released a statement: “McLaren is a non-political organisation however we recognise and respect the office of President of the United States so when the request was made to visit our garage on race day we accepted alongside the president of the FIA and the CEO’s of Liberty Media and Formula 1.

“We were honoured that McLaren Racing was chosen as the representative of F1 which gave us the opportunity to showcase the world class engineering that we bring to motorsport.

McLaren went on to win the race with Lando Norris claiming his first victory in Formula 1. Trump congratulated Norris following the grand prix.

Prospective Republican candidate Trump had reportedly planned to use a suite in the exclusive paddock club here to host a political fundraiser.

But speaking prior to Sunday’s race, Tom Garfinkel, CEO of the Miami Dolphins and Hard Rock Stadium, said: “There will not be any fundraising at the event from anybody.

“The event is about bringing people together and we welcome everybody.

“We don’t control people’s guest lists when they buy a suite.

“We want everyone to enjoy the race, and we want this to be a great environment and not something that becomes political or is used for commercial or political purposes.”

Retired NFL star Tom Brady, World Cup winner Zinedine Zidane, four-time Major winner Rory McIlroy, Los Angeles Lakers’ giant Lebron James and singer Shakira attended the race.
