Famous as the ‘city of textiles and looms’, Bhilwara is home to the world renowned Ramdwara of Ramsnehi Sampraday. The founder Guru of the Sampraday, Swami Ramcharanji Maharaj, preached to his followers here and later decided to move to Shahpura. The present day headquarters of the Ram Snehi Sampraday, known as Ram Niwas Dham are located in Shahpura. Some people say that Bhilwara got its name from the Bhils (tribal people) who lived there during the days of yore. Bhilwara City

Bhilwara City Land of courage and Sacrifice is a prominent Trading centre of Mewar Achhal. It is mid station of Ajmer Chittor Rail Line and is situated on NH-no. 4 Between Banas and Kothari River. On its east is Bundi, Rajasmand at West, Ajmer at North and Chittorgarh at south is the 14th largest district of the state. According to historians, Bhilwara was established 300 to 400 yrs. Ago due to regular confrontation between the rulers. Bhilwara got destroyed a no of times before it flourished Eighteenth century seemed to be Significant to Bhilwara from development point of view Because of stone laid by the then Rulers and Britishers. Bhilwara at present has become an important Trading city. In 1858, a fierce battle was fought between known Revolutionist Tantya Tope & Britishers at Sanganer Village. Then after Bhilwara got connected through railway line and business started to grow. History Stone Age tools dating from 5,012 to 200,000 years were found in Bundi and Bhilwara districts of the state. According to substantiation, the present Bhilwara city had a mint where coins known as 'Bhiladi' were minted and from this denomination was derived the name of the district. And other story goes like this that a tribe known as Bheel helped Maharana Pratap in war against Mughal Empire king Akbar lived in Bhilwara region that's this area came to be known as Bheel+Bada (Bheel's area) Bhilwara. Over the years it has emerged out as one of the major cities of Rajasthan. Nowadays, Bhilwara is better known as the textile city in the country. The oldest part of this town was set up in the middle of the 11th century by building a Krishna Radha mandir (temple) that still exists and is known as the Bada Mandir. The area that is now known as Purana Bhilwara (Patwari Mohalla, Junawas, Manikya Nagar Malikhera). There is also reference to Arjuna having fought here during the Mahabharata period. Historical records show that a town named Mandal close to Bhilwara served as the military base for the Mughals when they had attacked Chittaurgarh. The ruins of their campsite can still be seen today. A watch tower that was built on a small mound in Mandal is now a Devi temple. Places to visit in Bhilwara Some of the famous tourist attractions which you need not miss are: Bijoliyan Mandakini Temple The temple is located on the Uparmal plateau near the Bundi district's border. The temple compound has got 2 gates with 3 Saivite temples and a reservoir called Mandakini Baori inside it. The remains of the two rock inscriptions dated 1170 AD and the palace reflects the age-old culture of the place. Shahpura Ramdwara Founded in 1804, it has got a shrine called Ram Dwara. Being a pilgrimage for the Hindu sect Ram Snehi's followers, pilgrims visit this shrine throughout the year. The place is even famous for Phool Dol Ka Mela, which is an annual fair held during March-April and its Phad paintings. Menal Waterfall Located at Bhilwara-Kota road, this place has got a beautiful waterfall that is 150 feet deep. The water falling in a v-shaped valley creates a picturesque scene. Harni Mahadev A Shiva temple on the foot of a huge rock surrounded by extensive hills is just an 8 Km drive from the city. One can take a soothing view of the whole city from the Chamunda Mata Mandir located there. One needs to visit this place during Shiv Ratri to experience the enjoyment of the 3 days fair held there. Pur Udan Chatri Pur Udan Chatri is known for its Udan Chatri and Adhar Shila where a small rock balances a big rock. The place is located between the Aravali hills at a distance of 10 Km from the city. The natural rock image of Lord Hanuma along with Ghata Rani Temple and Patola Mahadev attracts tourists throughout the year.
