Journey to celebrate 50th anniversary with 30 shows in 2024: See where they're headed

Journey is continuing the celebration of its five-decade career with a run of 2024 shows.

The 50 th Anniversary Freedom Tour kicks off Feb. 9 in Biloxi, Mississippi and will play 30 dates in North America through April 29 in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. local time on Sept. 29 via ticketmaster.com.

Toto, which supported Journey on their tour earlier this year to celebrate their "Freedom" album, will again join Journey founder, guitarist Neal Scho n, keyboardist Jonathan Cain, lead singer Arnel Pineda, keyboardist Jason Derlatka, drummer Deen Castronovo and bassist Todd Jensen as show openers.

Journey's tour finds the Rock & Roll Hall of Famers tearing through a set list of anthems including "Any Way You Want It," "Faithfully," "Be Good to Yourself" and, of course, "Don't Stop Believin'."

When "Freedom" arrived in July 2022, Schon told USA Today that the album title was originally tapped for the band's 1986 release, "Raised on Radio," but then-singer Steve Perry didn't like it, "so we sat on it for many years … when we were tossing around album titles said, why not just call the whole thing 'Freedom?' It's for the times right now."

Schon was also sanguine when reflecting on the band’s legacy.

"It’s quite an accomplishment and I’m very proud of what we’ve done and how we’ve gotten through emotional and personnel changes and survived," he said. "It’s pretty mind-boggling but also a lot of hard work."

Steve Perry Hints at Long-Awaited Return to Touring

Steve Perry confirms that he’s signed with a new label and he’s now hinting at a return to concert stages. He hasn’t mounted a solo tour in 30 years – and last performed a full-length concert with Journey in 1987.

“It’s something that I’m absolutely missing terribly,” Perry tells Rolling Stone . “I can’t even tell you how much, but there’s been a big soulful reclaiming of this original feeling that I had about singing that I needed to get back to. I didn’t want to go out and just turn the wheel or turn the crank.”

Perry returned to solo work after a couple of decades away with 2018’s Traces , but a hoped-for tour failed to materialize. Instead, he released a stripped-down version of the album that used arrangements he’d originally worked out for shows that never happened.

Asked why, Perry says “it’s a long story. Uncle Steve is up in age, and everybody at this age has some aches and pains and things like that. But it’s a really good question that I’ve been asking myself too.”

At least some credit for this change of heart about the road goes to Trev Lukather, with whom Perry worked on the Effect’s recent remake of Journey’s “It Could Have Been You.” “Trev’s been busting my balls about it for a long time, to be honest with you,” Perry admits.

Perry’s most recent solo project was a holiday-themed album , 2021’s The Season . He didn’t reveal which imprint he’s signed with but said he’ll have the freedom to follow his muse. “These new label people are so supportive,” Perry adds. “They said, ‘We don’t care what you do; we just want to do it with you.'”

Terrapin Station, a division of Sony Music Entertainment, is launching the fifth North American tour built around the successful Disney Jr. Live On Tour franchise, the company announced Monday (May 13).

The new tour, titled Disney Jr. Live On Tour : Let’s Play, is slated to visit more than 60 U.S. cities this fall thanks to aggressive routing, support from new presenting sponsor Walmart and an IP partnership with the extremely popular cable channel, Disney Jr.

“Disney Jr. Live On Tour has continued to grow over the past five years and is now one of the biggest family touring franchises on the road,” said Shank in a statement. “We are thrilled to bring this all-new show to theaters across the country.”

New to the tour this year is the addition of the Little Mermaid -inspired Ariel from the highly anticipated new series Disney Jr.’s Ariel . The character will make her debut alongside Mickey, Minnie, Goofy and characters from other fan-favorite Disney Jr. series including Marvel’s Spidey and his Amazing Friends and SuperKitties . The tour will also feature the iconic clubhouse from Mickey Mouse Clubhouse .

Disney Visa card members can purchase tickets to Disney Jr. Live On Tour: Let’s Play before the general public starting Tuesday (May 14) at 10 a.m. through Thursday (May 16) at 10 p.m. local time. Additional presales will run throughout the week ahead of the general on-sale beginning Friday (May 17). VIP packages, including admission to the VIP pre-party interactive experience, are also available for purchase.

“We are very excited to introduce preschoolers and their families to our newest series, ‘Disney Jr.’s Ariel,’ with a musical segment starring our young little mermaid,” said Jennifer Rogers Doyle , senior vp of networks franchise management, integrated planning and licensing at Disney Entertainment. “We are also excited to announce that, for the first time, the iconic Clubhouse from ‘Mickey Mouse Clubhouse’ will be incorporated into our live show, ‘Disney Jr. Live On Tour: Let’s Play.’ This will bring the wonderment and delight of the Clubhouse experience to our youngest fans.”
