Iguazu Falls are higher than Niagara Falls, wider than Victoria Falls, and a truly epic sight. Take a trip across the border to Brazil to admire panoramic views of multiple thundering waterfalls. You may like to take an optional helicopter flight over the top of the falls for a more panoramic view. Tonight, spend the night in Foz do Iguazu (Brazil), resting up before a big day exploring the Argentinian side of the falls tomorrow.

A visit to the Argentinian side of Iguazu today allows you to get up close to the waterfalls via a series of boardwalks. According to Guarani legend, Iguazu Falls was created when the serpent god M’Boy, enraged by the betrayal of a chieftain’s daughter who was promised to him, split the river in half. For a more exhilarating experience, take an optional Zodiac boat ride to the base of the falls. This afternoon, join your leader for a visit to a Guarani community where you’ll meet some of the region’s few remaining indigenous people. Take an early morning flight from Foz do Iguacu to Rio. The locals say that 'if God made the world in six days, he devoted the seventh to Rio'. The day is yours to do what you like. For relaxation and people watching, head to the beaches of Copacabana or Ipanema. If the time of year is right, check out a football game or a Carnival rehearsal. As evening approaches, perhaps take the cable car up to Sugarloaf Mountain to watch the sunset before getting sweaty with the locals in the samba clubs of bohemian Lapa.

  • Rio de Janeiro - Samba show from - BRL200
  • Rio de Janeiro - Sugarloaf Mountain Cable Car (entrance) - BRL160
  • Rio de Janeiro - Football game tickets from - BRL400

When possible we book a direct flight between Foz do Igaucu and Rio. When this isn't possible you’ll transit in Sao Paulo. Your time in Rio maybe impacted but no activities will be affected by this. Your leader will provide you with the latest update.

It's an early start this morning as we embark on a guided tour of Rio, starting at Corcovado Mountain for sweeping views over Rio from the base of the Christ the Redeemer statue before the crowds arrive. Discover the eclectic architecture, restaurants, and art galleries of the artistic neighbourhood of Santa Teresa. Then continue to the colourful Selaron Steps to see artist Jorge Selaron’s gift to the Brazilian people, a staircase with 215 steps that’s decorated with thousands of tiles collected from over 60 countries around the world. The afternoon is free for you to spend as you wish, before rejoining your group for a farewell dinner. A fun local restaurant, specialising in smoky grilled seafood and meat with fresh, zesty salads, is the ideal place to celebrate your time together.

  • Rio de Janeiro - City tour

With no activities planned for today, you are free to depart at any time. That doesn’t mean your adventure has to come to an end. If you would like to continue soaking up the sun in Rio, we’ll be happy to book additional accommodation (subject to availability).

Brazil & Argentina Escape with Santiago Tour

Brazil & Argentina Escape with Santiago

The tour, the tour director, and the hotels were excellent. However, we will NEVER use Tourradar again due to the misinformation that you gave us prior to our trip. Examples: First, we were told that we could not bring a second piece of luggage without paying an extra daily fee- and that the carry on had to be no bigger than 12x11x6. We worked very hard to comply with that strict standard. So, imagine our surprise and anger when EVERY other tour member had a large checked suitcase, a standard carry on suitcase with wheels, and a personal bag much larger than those measurements! Secondly, we asked 3 times (April 24, 25, 27) if we would be flying on Aerolineas Air during our trip. Three times we were either just quoted the paragraph from the brochure that said, "if you fly on Aerolineas Air..." or outright told that we would not. So, we were pretty angry when we did in-fact fly on Aerolineas Air. So we had to pay the extra weight fee. (If we had been allowed to divide our luggage between our large suitcase and a carry on, we would not have been over their 17kg limit.) Lastly, your brochure said that there would be headsets throughout the tour. Turns out there was not one headset an ANY tour. Many times, especially when we were on a busy street, we could not hear a thing that the tour guide told us. We paid a lot of money to learn what we could about these places that we would never visit again, so we were really cheated out of what we paid for.

Brazil and Argentina with Iguazu Falls 4 Star Tour

Brazil and Argentina with Iguazu Falls 4 Star

I normally don't take time to write reviews but I am for this one. Wendy and the whole Team Wanderfull has been by far the best tour company we have dealt with due to various reasons. Every step of the way, they have communicated with us no matter the time of the day and they followed up to make sure our needs were attended. Team Wanderfull checked up on us regularly to make sure things went well, I believe on a daily basis. They have been very accommodating to us and to our needs. We received prompt refund for our money when we needed to change/cancel the day tour that the company provided to a tour that fits our needs and time. We were provided extra tour when we missed our first tour since we somehow did not realize we had to meet our tour guide on our first day in Buenos Aires. Can't really blame us on this one since we were tired and hungry after having almost 24 hrs of no sleep and being hungry :). Team Wanderfull was able to book a last minute show for us and accommodated our request for a specific show. Team Wanderfull made sure we were satisfied with the hotel that we stayed at and moved us to a different hotel since our rooms were unsatisfactory (in Rio), even if Wanderfull had to eat up the cost of transferring us to another hotel. All the arrangements for the move were promptly made. Wanderfull Tour really stands up to its name as they truly are a wonderful company! I highly recommend using this company and will not hesitate using them on our future travels. Les and Nenita T - Hawaii

I found Hi tours & particularly Cristian to be there at the end of the telephone every step of the way. The tour was phenomenal value & superbly thought out. As a 72 year old travelling alone & not wishing to be in the standard group tour this was perfect. The company kept in touch regularly to make sure the itinerary was living up to my expectations. It certainly was. I unhesitatingly recommend them.

We enjoyed the independent tour very much! Our contact, Ludi, was excellent! She was very good with communication and support! We also enjoyed the flexibility that Tangol Tours provided. All of the tours and excursions were interesting and fun! The hotels were very nice and well-located. We recommend changing the schedule of the early morning visit to Colonia, which was after a late night at the Tango show. We had a long delay with Colonia Express that was tiring and detracted from this excellent 12 day tour. We had a great trip!

Day 02 Explore Buenos Aires

Start your morning by spreading yourself large among the sites of the capital city, stepping first into the particularly unusual but beautiful final resting place of the mostly rich and famous – the Recoleta Cemetery. Wander through this veritable miniature city of memorials, immortalized not just in the intricate sculptures, the ornate Neo Gothic, art deco and baroque structures but also the human tales of those that reside forever in this extravagant patch of Buenos Aires. Pull yourself away from these grounds and then step into the awe inspiring Colon Theatre, widely perceived to be one of the best opera houses in the world. Take a guided tour to understand the nuances of the theatre, its architecture, the personalities that graced the stage and the famed acoustics of its main hall. Disband in the late afternoon where you’re free to do your own thing but you might want to catch up later to witness Argentina’s greatest export after Maradonna and Messi – the Tango!

Day 03 Little town of Carlos Pelegrini

You’ll be taking a flight this morning from the capital city of Argentina to Posadas, the gateway to the Ibera Wetlands. Another 4 hour ride from the airport will get you to the hotel where you can juggle some rest, some relaxation and lunch before you go out on a lazy amble through the little town of Carlos Pelegrini – this, just to stretch your legs.

Day 04 Visit the Beautiful Ibera Wetlands

Draw the curtains up for an exciting day this morning as you ripple the fresh waters of the Ibera Wetlands that wash through floating islands and shallow lagoons fed by a system of lakes. Come face to face with capybaras, cayman, swamp deer and giant otters on land and water while lifting your head occasionally to the trees and sky to witness the howler monkeys and equally diverse bird life flecking the landscape with vivid colours.

Day 05 Triple borders between Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay

The journey entails approximately 6 hours of travel time before the border crossing formalities are conducted and you get to your accommodation. Upon arrival at your hotel you’re free to do as you please. Stretch your legs, if that’s what you’re up for, by taking a walk around town or hire a taxi and then go climbing up the Hito tres Fronteras to gaze upon the confluence of Iguazu and Parana rivers that also marks the triple borders between Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay.

Day 06 Iguazu Falls on the Brazilian side

Make this a truly inspiring day as you explore the Iguazu Falls on the Brazilian side. Trace your way along the many walkways that gradually unveil the depth and extent of this natural wonder, walking on water (or the closest thing to it) at the Salto Santo Maria or staring slacked jawed as the waters tumble downward with relentless force, some from a height of approximately 82 metres! Yet as much as the spectacle centres around its height- its width spanning about 2700 metres is as spectacular, revealing a 360 degrees view of its ethereal magnitude. If you can’t get enough of the falls, hop on board a helicopter later in the afternoon to get more out of this wonderful landscape.

Day 07 Iguazu Falls on the Argentina side

If the Brazilian side of the Iguazu Falls is the glossy cover of a paperback, the Argentine side is the words and sentences, the details that make for robust reading. Where Brazil presents the panorama, Argentina provides the intimacy, the reality of being as close to the Falls as possible. Punctuated by as many as 275 drops and various paths leading to them there’s definitely a lot to see here so make the best of yet another opportunity to discover this expanse ultimately getting to its heart – La Garganta del Diablo or Devil’s Throat – featuring a drop of 82 metres. A free afternoon is on the cards after your visit here but if you’d like to get an alternative experience, get on board a boat and explore the falls some more.

Day 08 Brazil’s most vibrant city Rio De Janeiro

Jump right into the midst of Brazil’s most vibrant city as you fly to Rio De Janeiro this morning. Once you’ve settled in at your hotel and got everything in order, discover the streets and sights of Rio as you get your bearings via an orientation walk around the area. You’ve got a free afternoon but there are loads of things to do here – beaches for the sun worshipers, football stadiums for the sports fan, museums and great venues for people watching. Do take your tour leaders advice however, about what you can do in this great city because you’ll be hitting the major sights tomorrow.

Day 09 Christ the Redeemer

Hit some of the major attractions of Rio this morning to cap off the last day of your tour. Start by visiting the Tijuca National Park that houses among many attractions the iconic statue of Corcovado or Christ the Redeemer reaching its arms out in eternal munificence towards the city and the Guanabara Bay below. Follow this up by witnessing the soccer mad country in action at the Maracana Stadium and make some noise with the local fans as they sing and dance throughout the performance. Make your way then to the Metropolitan Cathedral of St. Sebastian to contemplate its magnificent exterior and marvel at its interiors as the sunlight hits its four stained glasses, rising 64 metres high, splashing the scene with vivid colours. Chase this down with a soft hike to Morro da Urca from where you can gaze at Rio’s dominant landmark, the Sugarloaf Mountain. If you still have the time, the energy and the will perhaps you can even entertain thoughts of accessing this mountain by cable car. Whatever you do, close out your tour with a bang in the evening by getting together with your tour companions for an optional farewell dinner.

This Tour provided an opportunity for us to witness the majestic beauty of two distinct countries. The Iguazu Falls were awe-inspiring, and it was remarkable to observe a variety of wildlife in their native habitats. Furthermore, we had a splendid time exploring the area due to the expertise of our tour leaders who made the journey memorable and enjoyable.

This trip was an absolutely excellent way to get a feel for both Argentina and Brazil. I especially loved the day at the wetlands, Iguazu Falls. Our leader Antonella was phenomenal. his knowledge of the two countries made everything much more interesting, and he even convinced us to try out some delicious local street food—amazing. All of the activities that were included during our stay were amazing, too. I'm so thankful for this once-in-a-lifetime experience—the One World Adventures team really did an incredible job putting it all together. High five....

Kevin Hughes

I had the most wonderful experience on this superb trip! Our tour guide was truly exceptional, with incredible knowledge about the area and its people. The free time given to us for exploring really made me feel at ease and secure. We truly reveled in each meal suggestion from our local hosts and relished engaging with the locals that we met along the way. I'm so thankful for all of our dedicated guides who felt like lifelong friends showing us their beautiful country - they provided a wealth of information which made this an unforgettable journey! Highly recommend it - you won't regret it

Priya Patel

My journey to Argentina and Brazil was an unforgettable lifetime experience. While Buenos Aires and Rio de Janeiro are magnificent cities, I particularly enjoyed the small town of Ituizango which offered breathtaking views of its river beaches, incredible sunsets, and an exciting safari through the wetlands, in addition to friendly local people. I truly felt at the center of South America during my stay at this quaint location. I highly recommend visiting this charming getaway; you will not regret it. Big bear hugs to Catalina and Belen, our fearless leaders who made this trip totally epic! Thank you for steering us through with such style.

Spending money:

When it comes to spending money on the trip, every traveller is a little different. You know your spending habits better than we do, so please budget an appropriate amount for things like optional meals, drinks, shopping, optional activities, and laundry. Make sure you have read the itinerary and inclusions thoroughly so you know what is included in the trip price and what you may need to pay for while travelling.

Commissions:

The receipt of commissions or kickbacks in exchange for recommending particular shops or services is ingrained in the culture of the tourism industry. Rather than turning a blind eye to this unavoidable issue in some areas, monies collected will be distributed to local businesses, One World Adventures Charities and to providing sustainable travel.

Main Luggage

Depending on the time of year you are travelling, we recommend you pack as lightly as possible. You need to to be able to lift and carry your luggage and walk short distances. This includes up and down stairs and busy railway stations. The smaller your luggage the easier it is to store above or under bunks on overnight trains and public transport. Aim for around 15 kg. Small wheeled suitcases are easy to pick up and carry. Backpacks are also a good option. Our guests find that lighter luggage cause less worry and lead to a more enjoyable trip .

A small day pack is very useful for carrying your essential items when exploring destinations and for overnight stays.

On overnight trains packing essential items provides ease of access.  oneworldadventures.com/packing-list

As a rule, WiFi is generally available in most parts of the destinations you travel and in the accommodation we use. Most hotels provide free WiFi in public areas but remember charges for in-room Wifi may occur. Always ask your tour leader on arrival to the hotel.

Usually, in tourist areas-most cafes and restaurants will have free WiFi available- always check and ask for passwords when ordering.

Tour Leader

One of our tour leaders will accompany you on all our trips. Their role is to take the hassle out of your travels and provide you with the best trip we can. One World Adventures aim to provide the services of an experienced tour leader. However, sometimes a tour leader may be new to a region or training other tour leaders.

Providing general information on the destinations visited, offering suggestions on available sightseeing and activities, recommendations of local places to eat and introducing you to our local friends is there main objective. A broad general knowledge of the historical, cultural, religious and social aspects of the destinations being visited will be provided.

One World Adventures aim to support the local tour guides that have the knowledge of the specific area visited. If you would like more in-depth knowledge of a specific sight nor location , your tour leader can recommend a local guide service for major destinations.

Personal Belongings

It is strongly recommended that you use a neck wallet or money belt when travelling, for the safe keeping of your passport, airline tickets, cash and other valuable items. Ideally, leave valuable jewellery items t home. Many of our hotels provide safety deposit boxes, which is the most secure way of safe keeping valuables. A lock for your luggage is recommended.

Most National Governments provide regularly updated foreign travel advice on safety issues involved with international travel. We recommend that you check your Government's advice for their latest travel information before departure and ensure that your travel insurance covers you for all destinations and activities on your trip. Please refer to our website's safety page for links to major travel advisories and updates on safety issues affecting our trips here:   www.oneworldadventures.com/safety-policy

Included activities will be supported by your tour leader. However, during your tour there is free time provided to relax, take it easy, pursue your own interests and explore the destination at your own leisure. It is important that your use good judgment when choosing activities during your free time.

Important to note- the tour leader has the authority to cancel or amend any section of the itinerary if deemed necessary for safety concerns.

Personal Safety

When travelling in tourist areas and cities there is the risk of pick-pocketing and petty theft.

It is recommended that you exercise caution when walking alone at night and preferably walk together or if alone stay in main areas that are well lit. Be particularly vigilant on public transport. Simple measures like carrying your day pack on your front, not hanging your bag over the back of your chair and wearing a money belt will reduce any chance that your valuables should go missing.

Scams involving ATM and credit cards, train tickets, taxis, temple donations and tourist guides operate in a lot of countries. If you are the victim of a scam, report it immediately to the nearest police station. You may not be able to get your money or goods back- but they can issue you with an official loss report for insurance purposes.

Travelling on a group tour

Group travel will expose you to all the pleasures and also the frustrations of travelling in a group. Your fellow guests will likely come from all around the world. We ask you to be understanding of the different needs and preferences of the group. Patience's sometimes a requirement that will benefit everyone’s travel experience.

You too have a responsibility to the group- this includes being on time or at a particular place when requested - this ensures your group isn’t left waiting for you.

The best tours work well when the dynamics of the group work well and everyone is considerate to each other.

Welcome to Argentina's Capital

For most travelers, Buenos Aires is the entry point to Argentina, and what an entrance it is: this vibrant city feels almost European! Its cosmopolitan population of Italian, Spanish, French, and many other nationalities, combined with stunning architecture, cultural activities, and attractive neighborhoods make the atmosphere relaxed and welcoming. Explore the many small shops, cafés, and international restaurants to get a real feel of the vibrant capital.

After settling into your accommodation in the trendy neighborhood of Palermo, the rest of your afternoon and evening is free for you to spend at your leisure. We recommend exploring the area near your hotel. Use this opportunity to soak up the atmosphere of this thrilling city by stopping off at one of the nearby boutique cafés or lively wine bars.

Having found somewhere for dinner and experienced one of South America’s top restaurant scenes, explore Buenos Aires’ nightlife at one of the local wine bars in Palermo. Combine your visit to the wine bar with an exclusive wine tasting as part of your itinerary or, take a stroll back to your hotel.

Tip: Porteños eat dinner late; usually restaurants will open their doors around 20:00.

Included: Private transfer from Buenos Aires airport to hotel with assistance; Accommodation in Buenos Aires. (Meals – None).

Tango & Argentina Highlights

Set off on a half-day walking tour with your private guide, learning all about the history and culture of beautiful Buenos Aires . Your guide will be a real porteño (resident of the city), who knows every barrio like the back of his/her hand. Together, you’ll head off to explore some of the city’s historical hotspots, as well as some of the favorite local hangouts of your guides.

It’s a great mix of experiences thrown into one. Getting an inside glimpse of Buenos Aires, you’ll go far beyond the guidebooks and swerve the tourist crowds, allowing you to see a different side of the city.

At times, you’ll take public transport to cover the larger distances, while most of the tour will be on foot. After a few hours with your guide, the tour will finish at one of his/her favorite restaurants, where you can grab a well-deserved bite to eat (lunch not included). It’s a brilliant way to get a peek into the real porteño way of life.

In the evening, you’ll experience the best of tango while enjoying the finest Argentine cuisine and fabulous Malbec wines during the show. The tango show is one of the most authentic in Buenos Aires and you’ll come to appreciate the passionate and intense nature of Argentina’s beloved and beautiful art form.

Included: Private walking city tour with Guide and Public transportation; Tango show & dinner with Roundtrip transfers; Accommodation in Buenos Aires. (Meals – Breakfast, Dinner).

Leisure Day in Buenos Aires

Today is free for you to spend at leisure. We recommend embarking on a bike tour to Tigre & San Isidro. This Argentina tour allows you to visit the Tigre landmarks, such as Paseo Victoria, Tigre Museum, and the artisan market called ‘Mercado de Frutos’. Spent a pleasant 30 min stop (approx.) at the market. From there, you will journey on the train to San Isidro, where you will visit the main square which holds an array of historic buildings.

Included: Accommodation in Buenos Aires. (Meals – Breakfast).

Flight to the border of Argentina & Brazil

At an appropriate time, you will be transferred to the Aeroparque Airport to take your flight to Iguazu. Upon arrival, our local representative will be waiting for you to take you to your hotel. The rest of the day is for you to spend at leisure.

Your accommodation is located on the outskirts of the town, where you can relax and enjoy the facilities of your accommodation. And if being on the outskirts isn’t exciting enough, you can always take a taxi to the center of town where you can walk down the main street of Puerto Iguazu, enjoying some of the local shops and cafes.

Included: Private airport transfers in Buenos Aires and Puerto Iguazu with assistance; Accommodation in Puerto Iguazu. (Meals – Breakfast).

Private Tour of Argentinian & Brazilian Iguazu Falls

After breakfast, you´ll begin your exclusive tour of the Argentinean side of Iguazu Falls. You’ll head towards the Iguazu National Park where you’ll climb aboard a small train at the entrance of the National Park. Your first stop will be the ominously named Devil’s Throat (Garganta del Diablo) which, standing at over 262ft., is the biggest waterfall in Iguazu.

Having soaked up the enormity of the Devil’s Throat your guide will take you along the wooden walkways and trails of both the upper and lower circuit. With over 270 separate waterfalls that are surrounded by the verdant jungle of Iguazu, exploring the Natural World Wonder of Iguazu is one of the most unforgettable moments. Trips to Brazil and Argentina aren’t complete without experiencing this marvelous fall.

You’ll notice that the various trails that take you through the jungle, above and around waterfalls, are built a few feet above the jungle floor and waterways. These raised platforms not only protect the natural habitat of the jungle wildlife but they will also take you to secluded viewpoints. Be prepared to be blown away, as these viewpoints offer unimaginable views across the whole National Park.

If you’re looking for a bit of adventure while visiting Iguazu, we highly recommend booking the optional (not included) Great Adventure rafting tour. The excursion takes you right under the rainbows and mist of Iguazu’s waterfalls. Make sure to pack a change of clothes or swimwear and a watertight bag for your valuables because you will get wet!

Included: Full day excursion to Argentina’s side of Iguazu Falls with guide and transportation; Entrance fees; Accommodation in Puerto Iguazu. (Meals – Breakfast).

Exploring Brazil's Side of the Falls and Journey to Rio

This morning, you’ll dive straight into the action and waste no time as your transfer and guide will pick you up to begin your tour of the Brazilian side of the Falls. Iguazu Falls border Argentina, Brazil, and Paraguay, and today you’ll have a guided tour of the Brazilian side.

Amidst a vibrant jungle of exotic trees and colorful butterflies, the Brazilian side offers a more panoramic view of the falls, as well as an up-close and direct view of Iguaçu’s largest waterfall. The entirety of which can’t be fully seen from the Argentine side. While marveling at Garganta del Diablo (or Devil’s Throat), it may be interesting to note that this is the waterfall that made Eleanor Roosevelt say, “Poor Niagara…”.

Once the tour is completed you’ll be taken to Foz do Iguaçu airport for your flight to Rio de Janeiro , to discover more of the brazil highlights.

Once you’ve settled into your accommodation, the rest of the day is free to explore some of our favorite local spots and hidden gems. Stroll along the long boulevards next to the beaches of Ipanema, Leblon, and of course Copacabana while humming the song, Girl from Ipanema’. Along the way, you’ll find plenty of huts selling delicious freshly squeezed juices and coconuts. This serves as the perfect refreshment as you begin soaking up the breathtaking cityscape of Rio de Janeiro, where you’re soon to realize why the city is known as ‘The Marvelous City’!

Unwind and watch the sunset at the beach before heading out for dinner at one of the restaurants along the promenade. We recommend trying one of Brazil’s most famous and traditional dishes, feijoada carioca (a stew of beans with beef and pork served with white rice and farofa). Wash it all down with a refreshing caipirinha cocktail or a local beer – Brahma and Skol are our favorites!

Following dinner, you have the option to go back to your hotel to prepare for another day of adventure or choose to stay up a little past bedtime. Wander to one of the local samba bars and dance the night away!

Included: Half day tour of Brazil’s side of Iguazu Falls with drop off at Foz do Iguaçu Airport with transportation and private guide; Entrance fees to Brazil’s Iguaçu Falls National Park; Transfer from Rio airport to your hotel; Accommodation in Rio. (Meals – Breakfast).

Rio like a local

The tour starts at 9 am at the meeting point, which is in front of the famous “Copacabana Palace Hotel”, an icon of the ’30s / ’40s golden Copacabana years. After learning a bit about this place, you will walk a few blocks to get to the Subway Metro Station, the main form of transport around the city for locals every day.

You will then reach the Municipal Theatre built on an eclectic style in the first years of the 20th century, located in the center of the city. A few blocks away, you will find yourself at the Bondinho Santa Teresa, a cable car built in 1872 that runs on the top of an old aqueduct called Arcos da Lapa. Get ready to hop on a cable car to head to your next destination.

After a few stations, we reach the bohemian neighborhood of Santa Teresa, passing by many old antique mansions from the first years of the 20th century. Here you can visit the Parque das Ruinas (closed on Mondays), an old Palace ruins that were rebuilt and soon became the center of many arts and cultural activities of the city, with panoramic views in all its splendor. If clouds are scarce, you will see the City Center, Sugarloaf, Guanabara Bay, and many others in the distance.

A few Kodak moments later, you will get to the Selaron Colorful Stairs, a cultural main spot in the Lapa neighborhood, the core of the Carioca´s nights. After exploring, you will enjoy the Confiteria Colombo, an old Art Nouveau coffee store from the latest 1800, chosen as one of the ten most beautiful coffee stores in the world (closed on Sundays).

When this visit is over, you will either be dropped off at the Sugarloaf to get into the cable car or take the metro back to the Copacabana Palace, where the tour ends. Our tour guide will give you directions on how to get to Christ the Redeemer on your own in the afternoon. We recommend that you pre-buy your Christ the Redeemer entrance fee, as availability can be limited during the busier, summer seasons in Rio (from around November to March).

Following this Brazil tour, you can opt to return to your hotel or head straight for the beach, where you can spend the rest of the day at your own leisure. Tonight you’ll be enjoying the beachside restaurants and feasting on a long list of salgadinhos (finger food), such as fried cod cakes. All of which will be washed down with a nice cold caipirinha. Be warned, their sweet and smooth taste packs quite a punch, so drink them with caution!

Included: Private excursion with Guide and Public Transportation; Accommodation in Rio. (Meals – Breakfast).

Leaving Rio and Ending Your Trip to Brazil and Argentina

After experiencing the many Argentina and Brazil highlights, you’ll be picked up and transferred to the airport to take your flight back home. Following all those cold caipirinhas, we hope you’re feeling up to saying goodbye to this incredible city, and your time spent in Brazil and Argentina.

Included: Private transfer from your hotel to Rio airport. (Meals – Breakfast).

Archeological proof indicates that the zone was once permanently inhabited during millenaries. (from the 6th to the 5th millenary BCE), by people that belonged to the ancient hunting tribes of the pampas, Tehuelches’ ancestors. We have indeed found signs of presence along the Sarmiento Lake and Serrano River banks. After these primitive hunters came the Aonikenk Nomads between 1500 and 1870, who were Tehuelches living south of the Chubut River. The Tehuelches always had a very extended knowledge of the mountain-range that they would call Paine or Carrón, and for which they had deep respect.

It is quite impressive to listen to the cracking ice, which breaks off and falls into the otherwise calm motionless fjord. The landscape is a unique mix of green areas, covering the hills and mountains, and of turquoise water that seems to blend into the impressive glaciers. During the cruise, you will be able to see sea lions and cormorants. Then, you will top and get off of the boat for a short 1km walk, across a forest of native trees, to reach the bottom of the Serrano Glacier, and appreciate this magnificent work of nature.

The city founded in 1535 by the Spanish conquistador Francisco Pizarro, still features many invaluable colonial buildings along the main square (the Plaza Mayor) and the nearby streets.

Day 21 SACRED VALLEY: PISAC RUINS AND MARKET, OLLANTAYTAMBO FORTERESS

In the morning, drive from Cusco to the village of Pisac (1 hour) with its famous Sunday market where many indigenous Quechua communities meet to sell and trade their goods.

The rest of the week, the whole place is bustling with its handicraft and souvenir market. You will have time to search for jewellery, ponchos, hats, traditional music instruments, ceramics, alpaca products and many other typical Andean crafts (1 hour 30 min).

Visit Pisaqa, Intihuatana, Q’allaqasa, and Kinchiracay. (1 hour 30 min). All 4 places are part of an Inca site on the nearby hill at an altitude of 10,980 feet (3345 m).

The Inca shaped the hill by carving the ingenious terraces that are still used for agriculture to this day.

With military, religious, and agricultural structures, the site was an important and busy place in Inca times.

In the afternoon, transfer to Ollantaytambo, a fortified city built by the Inca Pachacutec.

Explore this quaint settlement with an orthogonal layout (30 min).

First of all I would like to express my deep gratitude to main organizer of trip Daniel and all guides of the company!!!

Our agent Daniel was extremely helpful and great building the itinerary. We loved working with him! He was so fantastic. Peru, Argentina, Patagonia, Rainforest, and Chile all went well. Brazil was a little bit messy and the organization was disappointing in comparison to the rest. The hotel in Rio was absolutely horrible and I had mentioned that before and nothing was changed. We booked months in advance so it being a long holiday weekend should not make a difference. The hotel should have been changed way before as I asked. It was below standard and should not be an option because it was old, dirty, with bugs and run down and in a very unsafe location. For Manaus, our driver was late and no one communicated it to us. I had to reach out and we didn’t have a lot of information. Also, there should have been some options to do the meeting of the waters tour in the rainforest we had plenty of time and we ended up scheduling it last minute because the agent there (Nathalia) didn’t include it and couldn’t get us on a boat. The local agent worked with us instead. It would have been better to have everything paid for and done in advance. So overall, Brazil team could have done a better job. The rest of the teams in the other countries were great!

Overall experience with Latin Discoveries was good, dealing with Daniel and other team members via WhatsApp was pretty quick and easy. However, there were couple of instances which i believe can be improved upon. 1. once i had approved the proposal and payment was made, I had to send couple of emails asking if the payment was received or not. 2. the travel books came in as seperate for each country, however for ease of understanding if an overall summary would have been given it would have been good. 3. the travel book came pretty close to our travel so not much time to review and question some of the timing (flight times etc.)
