EVOC goes XL with updated Travel Bag for plus-sized & fat mountain bikes

EVOC already makes one of the most sought after travel cases for packing up your mountain bike to head off on trail adventures far from home. And now the German bag & clothing maker has an even bigger pack – the Bike Travel Bag XL – which they are calling the first travel case designed specifically for fat bikes and the exploding market of plus-sized tire mountain bikes. With internal mounts optimized for wider axle spacing and integrated wheel bags that can fit up to 4.8″ tires, EVOC is prepped for riding in new places around the world on trails where only fat tires can take you…
Bike Travel Bag XL
EVOC’s brand is all about equipping riders with protection for any adventure, so the bigger bag makes a lot of sense whether for riding through the snows up north or exploring technical, untamed mountain tracks in some exotic locale.
At first it seemed that it wouldn’t be such a big issue to solve, but with wider Boost, then gigantic fat bike axle & BB standards, the entire bag and its internal attachment systems had to be redesigned. And trying to stuff 4.8″ tires into built-in wheel compartments, it brings back painful memories of trying to stuff 29ers in cases originally designed for 26″ bikes back in the day, and at the same time still cramming cyclocross wheels into road wheelbags.
The Bike Travel Bag XL shares the same general layout and construction as the standard travel bag, with separate side access wheel compartments, and can now work with bikes with a wheelbase up to 125cm/49.2″ long. Wheel wise it is designed to work with either proper fat 26 x 4.8″ tires or even 27.5+ or 29+ x 3.5″ tires. Inside the Variable Frame Fixation Equipment (VAFFE) setup is adaptable to almost any bike or frame layout, offering reliable security with the rigid foam blocks that protect frame & fork, plus straps that secure the bar out of the way.
The 320l overall Bike Travel Bag XL rolls on a pair of wide-set roller blade/skate wheels and a light aluminum rail reinforced base frame. The bag measures 143 x 42 x 84 cm (56.3 x 16.5 x 33″) and weighs 9.6kg (21.2lb), just over 1/2kg (~1lb) more than the standard sized bag. It still packs down relatively small – 143 x 42 x 28 cm (56.3 x 16.5 x 11″) – making it a bit more reasonable to store at home when not in use.
The new 475€ Bike Travel Bag XL comes only in EVOC’s olive green/black world map print for now, and should be available this fall in time for travels to escape winter.

wheelbase up to 125cm; so it still doesn’t fit a modern XL bike….
EVOC size the bag to fit within the majority of airlines’ oversize luggage allowances. Make the bag bigger and it won’t go on the plane. With the way mtb geometry is going it looks like tall rider will have to get used to removing and re-fittnig swing arms. Or we should all buy Pole bikes, undo one bolt and they can be folded in half.
Leaving the rotor on and all the way to the outside of the case seems like a issue?
Right. No way a mounted rotor will survive the journey.
in the regular evoc bag its the same and.. well the rotor often bends due to shocks from handlers at the airport (they really do throw the bag around pretty hard in my experience..)
Mine survived. There is a hard plastic mold built into the case that protects the rotor.
We fly with our Evoc bags all the time. They work really well!
Wonder how much that would cost to put on your average flight?
Probably $300 round trip. Seems to be the going rate. But also, depends on the airline. I’ve flown WestJet round trip USA –>Canada with a bike. As long as the total dimensions (l+w+h) are under 115″, it will fly on that airline for the regular checked bag price of $35 CAD. American or United or most others in the USA it’s $150 each direction ($300 extra round trip).
they seem to be the only bag design makers that actually take their bikes apart, repeatedly, and fly with them. I have loaded customers bikes in them on more than a few occasions, EVOC Rock! As for cost to fly with them? it is all over the map depending on airline and destination.
main issue is weight. my 12kg mtb + regular evoc bag ls.. 21kg which is exactly the maximum allowed by most airlines for bikes. i bet this is a 9kg bag and most fat bikes hit 13-14kg thus is over the max weight
Will it work for a “29 Specialized Stumpjumper?

Customer Reviews
I'm thinking "XL" so it'll fit a XL bike... 29" wheels, etc. ... no problem, right? well.. not quite... Found out too-late-to-return that the wheelbase capacity of the bag is 125cm... my Fezzari XL is 126cm long... my Trek Slash is 126.4cm. That extra ~ 1/2"? Immensely tough squeeze - the problem is that this is largest bag on the market... ** IF ** you need to squeeze a XL bike into this bag, here are some tips: (1) deflate the front fork so you can drop that as low as possible, (2) do NOT put in your tires until 100% done, it will just be more cumbersome, (3) the toughest part will be the rear triangle - laying the bike bag on it side is easier ... a tip I figured out is if you sit towards the end of the bike (with the bike in the bag laying on its side), then put one foot on opposing sides of the triangle (elevating the triangle) - that way, when you compress the triangle to get it to squeeze into the bag, it will simply press harder onto the opposite side of bag (ground level), impairing progress/net gain - but when elevated, you can make progress.. (4) use the 'long' zipper... It WILL eventually fit but be sure to put a small stack of business cards (for a hard-pack cushion) between any risky points (especially the back-most frame points and the top of the stem).
Really like this bag. I've never had a problem (except Southwest) with airlines, flies like a normal checked bag.
I would recommend using foam pipe insulation as additional protection, and make sure not to pack your CO2 cartridges.
This has saved me in the long run hundreds if not thousands in bike rental fees, and I get to ride MY bike more importantly.
Super nice bag. Fits my Jones+ bike well but with my 31lb bike and this 22lb bag I got dinged at the airport an extra $145 for over 50lbs… my bad for not checking the specs before ordering…

The Best Hard- and Softshell Cases For Traveling With Your Bike
Whether you want a light and stealthy case to avoid fees or a tough, hard-side case to protect your ride, you'll find it here.
Whether you’re planning to travel across the country or across the globe, a sturdy bike travel case or bag is a worthy investment. Your bike will be better protected—and you’ll have more peace of mind—than it will if you stuff it into a cardboard box and hope for the best. Here’s what you need to know.
B&W International Bike Box II
Compact and tough plastic case and four smooth rolling wheels.
Orucase Airport Ninja
Requires more bike assembly, but less likely to incur a fee.
travel Bike Travel Bag Pro
Securely holds modern 29er trail bikes with minimal disassembly.
SCI-CON AeroComfort 3.0 TSA
This case lets you leave the pedals, bar, and seatpost in place.
Thule RoundTrip Transition
ABS plastic shell protects the bike inside. Comes with a repair stand.
Hardshell versus Softshell
Hardshell cases provide the highest level of protection against impacts, but they also weigh more, which can lead to even higher luggage fees. Hard cases also don’t break down, so they take up more room in a hotel room or rental car when not in use.
Softshell cases have come a long way in recent years, and some offer nearly the same level of protection as hard-shell models. Softshell cases are usually lighter than hard-shell cases, and fold or roll down for easier storage.
Join Bicycling All Access for more gear advice
Hard-shell cases usually rely on a rigid, outer shell—made from a type of plastic—for their protection. Most softshell cases are constructed from durable nylon and rely on padding to protect your bike.
Some softshell cases have a rigid internal frame that provides structure and protects the bike from crushing forces. There are also hybrid cases, which have a fabric exterior lined with foam and plastic sheets.
Both types of cases often include additional padding for the frame, as well as straps to hold the frame and wheels in place.
Size and Weight
Pay attention to the size and weight of a bike case, particularly as it relates to the weight of the bike you plan to transport. Most airlines have a 50-pound weight limit before incurring an overweight fee. You need to factor in the weight of the case, the bike, and other items you’re considering throwing in there before selecting a case.
Hard-shell cases are more protective, but weigh more, leaving less for packing materials, bike, and gear. Softshell cases are lighter, which means you can pack a heavier bike without exceeding the limit but may offer less protection for your gear. The weight difference can be extreme: Thule’s Roundtrip Transition is made of ABS plastic and extremely rugged but weighs 38 pounds, while Orucase’s soft-sided Sub62 weighs just 13 pounds.
Most airlines have a dimensional limit of 62 linear inches—calculated by adding together the total length, width, and height of the bag. If an item of luggage is larger, it can incur an oversize-bag fee. Orucase’s Sub62 is smaller than 62 linear inches, so it should avoid an oversize fee, while Thule’s armored RoundTrip Transition measures over 106 linear inches and is almost certain to cost you extra.
Packing Tips and Tricks
Before choosing a case, have an idea of how much bike disassembly/assembly you’re comfortable with.
Cases like Scicon’s AeroComfort require very little wrenching to pack and unpack a bike but are larger and likely to incur a bike or oversize fee. A smaller and lighter case like Orucase’s Sub62 is much less likely to incur an oversize or overweight charge, but packing the bike into this case requires removal of both wheels, the bar and stem, rear derailleur, pedals, seatpost, and fork.
If you want to use additional padding to protect your bike during transit, consider using your cycling apparel, since it has to make the trip with you anyway. You can also use pipe insulation, which is inexpensive and can be purchased at your local home-supply store. Always be sure you also have all the tools you need to get your bike back up and running at your destination.
How We Picked
Every case on this list has been thoroughly evaluated and vetted by our team of test editors. We also consulted product managers and designers, athletes, and used our own travel experience with these cases to determine the best options. We evaluated them on performance, price, protection, weight, size, and how much bike disassembly is required to come up with a list of cases to serve the needs of anyone traveling with bikes.
Here are nine of our favorite bike travel bags and cases you can buy right now.
Most Stealthy
Orucase airport ninja.
Looking to sneak your road bike through security and escape extra baggage fees? If so, this Orucase travel case is the ticket. The ultra-compact bike backpack fits most road frames and breakaway-style travel bikes. Though it’s soft-sided, the Orucase bag uses integrated plastic panels with energy-absorbing foam to armor it against impacts.
Least Wrenching
Scicon aerocomfort 3.0 triathlon, scicon aerocomfort 3.0 triathlon.
Scicon’s AeroComfort 3.0 TSA blends the low weight of a soft-sided bike bag with a rigid frame to protect your prized ride from surly baggage handlers. This travel bag is designed specifically for drop-bar bikes and requires minimal disassembly. The wheels stow in dedicated pockets on the sides and, best of all, there’s no need to remove the handlebar. The adjustable chassis holds your frame in place by the axles—either quick-release or 12mm thru-axles. The four-wheeled design makes it easy to maneuver through crowded airports, and the compact design keeps it within many airlines’ standard luggage dimensions, which may help you skip oversize baggage fees.
B&W BIKE BOX II
B&w bike box ii.
B&W’s International Bike Box II is a simple, effective, and affordable hard-shell case. The clamshell design is easy to use, and the interlocking halves fasten with six buckles to keep everything secure. This budget-minded case includes wheel bags and multiple layers of foam to protect the frame from the wheels. Two fixed wheels and a pair of rotating castors make the International Bike Box II as easy to maneuver as a shopping cart.
DAKINE BIKE ROLLER BAG
Dakine bike roller bag.
Dakine’s Bike Roller Bag has enough space to fit 29ers, downhill bikes, and even 29er downhill bikes. Unlike many other soft-sided bags, the Bike Roller Bag has wheel sleeves inside the main compartment, which reduces the number of external zippers that could fail. Heavy-duty internal and external padding safeguards the frame, fork, and wheels from overzealous airport workers.
Cardboard Box
Bikeflights bike box, bikeflights bike box small.
A cardboard box is a light, inexpensive, and—provided the bike is packed properly—surprisingly safe way to ship a bike. Most brand new bikes—even high-end and custom bikes—are shipped in cardboard boxes. Bike breakdown and packing difficulty is average to high. A cardboard box has no puncture or impact protection, and can fall apart if it gets too wet. The BikeFlights Bike Box comes in four sizes: small, medium, large, and extra large.
Best For Mountain Bikes
Evoc bike travel bag pro, evoc bike travel bag pro.
EVOC’s bike bags are some of the most popular soft-sided options for road and mountain bikes—it even makes versions for BMX and fat bikes. The Bike Travel Bag Pro is a premium version of the company’s Bike Travel Bag. It includes an integrated aluminum chassis to hold frames securely in place by their axles. EVOC added six centimeters to the length of the bag to keep pace with the longer, lower, slacker trend in mountain biking. Another nod to modern mountain bikes are wheel pockets that can swallow 29-inch wheels wrapped in 2.6-inch tires. When not in use, the Bike Travel Bag Pro folds down small enough to fit under a bed.
THULE ROUNDTRIP TRANSITION
Thule’s RoundTrip Transition fits most road and mountain bikes within its tough, ABS plastic shell. Nylon wheel bags prevent frame and wheel rub during transport. The two-piece, hard shell cradles the frame in a lightweight aluminum stand that doubles as a work stand, making reassembly and maintenance a breeze once you arrive at your destination.
Fits Two Wheelsets
Biknd helium v4, biknd helium v4.
The Helium V4 is a drop bar-centric bike bag with a twist. Unlike most other bike bags, it can carry two wheelsets, which makes it an excellent option for cyclists traveling with both race-day and training wheels. Both sides fold flat for unfettered access for quick packing and removal. The feature that really sets the Helium V4 apart is the inflatable panels on the sides of the bag that add protection without heft. These inflatable bladders keep the weight to just 19.8 pounds, which is half of its heavyweight competitors.
Best for Large Bikes
Pro bike travel case mega, pro bike travel case mega.
Traveling with extra-large road bikes or 29er trail bikes poses problems for some cases, but not for Pro’s Bike Travel Case Mega. As the name suggests, this soft-sided bag is designed to swallow large and long frames easily. The alloy base holds the frame by the axles, while padded wheel pockets and foam bumpers keep your bike protected. Integrated pockets allow riders to stash pedals, tools, a mini-pump, and other ride essentials.
Unique Protective Feature
Douchebags savage bike bag, douchebags savage.
Once you get over the name, there’s a lot to like about this bike bag. The Db Savage is a soft-sided travel bag with a race car-inspired roll cage. This internal framework bolsters stiffness and provides an additional level of protection against damage. The Savage works with all road and mountain frames. It features external pockets for wheels and internal organizers for pedals and tools.

Fatbike travel bags?

Anyone have experience with a commercially made bag that'll fit a fatbike and both wheels inside?
Only seen a friend use a normal cardboard bike box.... When the Surly guys come over to Scotland for Forth Fat that had 3 Thule hard cases for 2 ICT's
Those fine folks at fat-bike.com did a review of the BikePro USA case. Looks like a good solution, but not exactly cheap. Fat-Bike Travel Case | FAT-BIKE.COM
A Pika Sport bag? I've used them internationally with an XL carbon FS 29er and there was adequate room for extra stuff. I haven't tried it with a fatty but I'm thinking it'd work, with the tires deflated but not removed.
No personal experience, but there was reference to this from this forum: EVOC Bike Travel Bag | The Colorado Cyclist
Mike I've used a Ground Effect Tardis bag for 2 Australia-UK trips and a number of Australian domestic flights (including this w connections so more bag handling). No damage to frame (Ti and my wife's bamboo) or wheels. They're good as they fit horizontally in the boot of normal cars. Tom
Used the EVOC bag, borrowed from a mate, who has also used it for fat and an xxl 29er. Tyres need deflated but fits beautifully. Borrowed: Coz they are friggen expensive if only needing them for 1 trip... can he hired from a few places here in oz, try hiring if you only need it for an occasional trip.
Thanks for all the responses. Will ruminate and research some more before deciding. Will check back in with thoughts/experience once I have something in hand to fiddle with.
Thread resurrection! Any updates? Looking for something to fit a 9:Zero:7 with 197 rear spacing.
I have an EVOC bag, never tried fitting my fat bike in it though. I can give it a try when I have some free time - unfortunately our trails are in pristine fat bike shape at the moment so free time is limited... Are you needing the info asap?
I have a Bike Pro that works real well. I will look for some pictures of the bike in it.
Are these EVOC bags strong enough to protect bike from damages during hard handling in airports (and during transfer on connecting flights)? My regular (not a bike case) plastic hard bag is severely scratched around after ~10 flights.
Bump
Thanks Mike. Anyone else found a good travel bag?
I have a Bike Pro that works real well for a Lg Fat Bike and two wheels. I will try to dig up some pictures from the last time I used it. Steven
EVOC has a dedicated plus bike/fat bike bag now - Bike Travel Bag XL.
I ended up purchasing the Evoc XL bag, as I was able to find it online for a substantial discount. I'll post an update with pics once it arrives. Thanks to all for the help.
I'm curious if the Thule Round Trip Transition would fit a fat bike?
I received good replies in this thread; http://forums.mtbr.com/fat-bikes/evoc-xl-travel-bag-any-info-reviews-1074339.html
From my personal experience, I think cardboard bike boxes are the best for traveling by plane. Usually survives 5-6 flights and you can get them for free in almost any bikeshop. EVOC bag has its benefits but it's so heavy... Here in Europe you have to pay extra because it weigh over 23kg with bike. For me, cardboard box for plane and cloth bike bags for train/bus traveling are the best.
I used the Evoc XL bag last winter, and will do the same again this winter. Gross weight on the scale at the airport was 48.5 lbs (22 kg), which included bag, bike, wheels (with a fresh 6oz of sealant in both tires), framebag, and some spare parts (extra hangers, quick links, cables and housing) and tools. My fatbike is not a super lightweight build, either. Maybe 27ish lbs. Great bag, plenty of protection. Just remember to detach your derailleur and hanger or else there is a good chance the hanger will get bent during transit. I also removed my chain and pedals seatpost and saddle (they all stayed in the bag), wrapped some of the frame in bubble wrap. I think I had the air pressure in my tires around 4psi, which would hopefully keep them from burping if they got whacked, and also left some room for expansion and contraction from ambient pressure changes. If you go with the Evoc, be prepared to get gouged by some airlines. I think I paid $125 or $150 each way on Delta from Denver to Anchorage. But, in my case, the cost ended up being a wash compared to other airlines that do not charge as much (such as Alaska Airlines) because of base fare difference and a better schedule. And the bag just barely fits in the rear seat of a full-size sedan. My rental in Anchorage was a Nissan Altima.

My wife and I have the ChainReaction bike bags https://www.chainreactioncycles.com/chain-reaction-cycles-pro-bike-bag/rp-prod114204 and can fit our fat bikes in them. I've a Singular Puffin (medium frame size), my wife has a Surly Wednesday (small). The bag weighs 8.8kg so a bit lighter than the EVOC but it's soft sided rather than a hard case.
Apparently Pika Packworks makes one for fatbikes now. This is the response I got from Mark. I have no experience with it though I do own a stretch. I make a bag for fat wheel bikes that I haven't added to my website, the eep-fwb, $569 including shipping, 54x32x15 inches and about 18 lbs, with a pair of wheels on the back end bolted through a plastic stiffener in the base and some additional handles to lift and tow it. If you wish to proceed with an order email your shipping address and phone number and I will call to get credit card info. Mark
I picked up one of these, new in box from a guy locally who purchased it to go to an event that he cancelled on. I think I paid CAD$150 for it. I've been using it to protect my vehicle interior, especially when running studded tires. Skinz BTSC400 Fat Bike Travel Case https://www.amazon.com/Skinz-Protective-Gear-Travel-5-Inch/dp/B00D91FQNS

Fat-Bike Travel Case
A few of you have asked us about travel cases for your fatties. This makes perfect sense, because people take bike or ski trips all the time, so why not take a fat-bike trip to an incredible world class destinations like Anchorage? Well that’s where I happened across the only existing solution to putting your fatty into one giant sized bike carrier for transport via airline or UPS. Our Amigos at Speedway Cycles in Anchorage had a few of these Bike-Pro USA double downhill bike cases that can fit a fat-bike and wheels, with room to spare.
We like to be thorough in our journalistic endeavors so I contacted Bike Pro USA and talked to their customer service department and asked if a fat-bike would fit inside their double downhill bike case. They had never heard of a fat-bike before. I explained that I was writing an article about it and asked if I could talk to someone in Sales or Marketing to see if we could get an official fitting into one of their bags. The helpful customer service person transferred me to Earl. I explained my situation to Earl and he remembered selling Greg some cases and shipping them up to Alaska, but didn’t have a concrete answer as to whether a fat-bike would fit in his case. I asked Earl if it would be ok, if we sent a correspondent out to the office to see if a fat-bike fit and take some pictures. Earl said “No Problem!” Bike Pro USA is located in Phoenix, so I picked up the bat-phone and texted Dirty from drunkcyclist.com . I asked him if he knew anyone that could do a little investigative reporting in the Valley of the Sun and he stepped up to the plate and volunteered his ample skill-set. So we now take you to the sunny Southwest, where Dirty has the rest of the story…
It’s not often this desert rat gets a chance to cover something fat-bike related. So I jumped in the car and took the short drive over to Bike-Pro USA. Earl met me at the door and escorted me to their conference room, which also doubled as a display area for their product. They make a lot more than just bike cases here! Hanging on the walls were probably 50 different products. Everything from first generation Camelbacks, to bike cases, first aid kits, and baby bibs.
I am fairly active in local cycling circles, and I had no idea there was a sewing factory making bike gear right here in my own town. The building is about as nondescript as they come. Situated in an industrial park with only a small sign on one door. Earl informed me that even though he is an avid cyclist, bike cases are only a fraction of their business since the airlines have continued to increase their fees. As I snooped around the room a bit, I noticed that all of the workmanship was top-notch and it filled me with an enormous amount of “Made in the USA” pride.
We decided to drag the Double Downhill case outside to, as Earl put it “Give the folks in the snowy regions some sunshine”
I popped the wheels off my bike, took off the stem and bars, and set the frame inside the bag. The first thing I noticed was that this bag is big! My medium frame fit comfortably with enough room for a large or maybe even an extra-large. The bag actually has fork mounts to hold the frame in place, but I neglected to bring a 135mm adapter, so you will just have to use your imagination.
I had removed the pedals from the bike out of habit, but with the amount of extra space, it probably wasn’t necessary. Once I put the wheels in, everything fit perfectly. There was even a good amount of room to spare for extra gear and accessories.
Earl and I chatted a bit more and I asked him if I could get a tour of his sewing factory. He was more than happy to show me, so we drug the case and bike back inside and went for a walk. The factory was buzzing with activity and I tried my best to stay out of the way.
I had sent Gomez a picture from my phone of the bike all packed and his response was “Would you ship your bike in it?”. My answer is, without a doubt, yes. Plus knowing that it’s made in the USA, by a cycling enthusiast, makes it that much better.

I flew to Anchorage in 2012 for the White Mountain 100. I ended up packing my fat bike in a regular hard case bike box that I borrowed from a friend. The only catch was I could only fit one wheel in the case. I put both tires/tubes in the case and took my front wheel as a “carry-on”. On the way out I put it in the overhead compartment. On the way home the stewardess put it in their luggage closet for me (got to love the folks at Alaska Airlines). I got some funny looks walking through the Chicago airport, but the folks in Anchorage didn’t even blink an eye.
How to order for fatbike hard case.. tnx

The Airport Ninja Bike Travel Case
Your email has been received.
The original fee-avoiding bike travel case
We developed the Airport Ninja when we realized that bike fees were standing between us and living our dream of traveling and racing. Eleven years and over 100,000 customer flights later, thousands of cyclists worldwide have learned the secret to traveling fee- and hassle-free with their bikes. The world’s most compact and discreet bike travel case is stealthy at check-in, while making every aspect of traveling with a bike less costly and more convenient; from finding a suitable rental car or navigating public transit to storing the case away when you’re back at home. Say goodbye to bike fees. Become an Airport Ninja.
Pack your bike in as little as 15 minutes
You don’t need to be a mechanic to use the Airport Ninja - packing requires only basic tools, and only one additional step of disassembly as compared to traditional full-size bike cases. Packing takes as little as 15 minutes and can save you up to $250 each way on bike fees.
Fits up to large full-suspension trail bikes
One size will fit everything from small road bikes to large full-suspension 29er MTBs. At just 10.8 pounds (4.9kg), this means you can pack the case with nearly 40 pounds (18kg) including the bike and extra equipment without exceeding the typical weight limit. It also satisfies all airline requirements regarding the removal of handlebars and pedals.
one-third the size and weight of the competition - and it still has hard plastic sides
The Airport Ninja is by far the easiest bicycle travel case to transport. Its compact size - ⅓ the size and weight of hard cases - make it easy to maneuver around the airport or at your destination, and it fits easily in any size rental car or taxi. The case expands in width so there’s plenty of room for extra equipment or souvenirs, and can compress down to 2” for convenient storage when not in use.
As cyclists who traveled every weekend and depended on our bikes for a living, we wanted a travel case that was easy to pack and transport, but did not compromise on protection. That’s why the Airport Ninja is the only fabric ‘soft’ travel case that incorporate hard plastic side panels along with thick energy-absorbing foam padding. The zipper closure system is simple to operate and will allow TSA to close everything properly after manual inspections.

The NCM Aspen uses a powerful Das-Kit 500w geared rear hub motor, combined with a decent 48v 13Ah lithium battery pack. And even though it's a big, heavy bike, the motor had more than enough power to cope with the very wet and boggy terrain ridden on. Another thing that impressed me with this bike was its ability to deal with this harsh terrain while still retaining some composure.
