Who could headline Glastonbury 2025? Oasis will not play at Worthy Farm next year

Oasis have ruled themselves out of headlining Glastonbury in 2025 after confirming their tour would not be taking in any festivals . 

The Gallagher brothers and their bandmates have now added extra dates to their reunion concert series but this will not see their first appearance at Worthy Farm since 2004. 

Having been considered a favourite to top the bill on the Pyramid Stage, there is still an unclaimed slot for Friday, Saturday and Sunday night. 

In 2024, the festival was headlined by Dua Lipa, Coldplay and SZA, and next year will be the final edition of Glastonbury for a while as it is set to take a fallow year in 2026 . 

While no headliners have been announced, here are some of the names in the frame: 

The Geordie singer is slated to return next year with a huge third album and would be well-positioned to bring his working-class rock to the biggest stage.

Fender has already sold out his local St James’ Park and has been tipped to make a breakthrough to superstardom at Glastonbury next year. 

The queen of pop has never graced Worthy Farm, but has a fan in festival organiser Emily Eavis . 

Madonna has now finished her Celebration world tour and has not finalised her plans for 2025 - which is 20 years past her Confessions of a Dancefloor album if she wanted to celebrate.

With Billie Eilish having headlined in 2022 , Glastonbury is not adverse to promoting the next generation of US singers. 

That same year, Rodrigo drew a huge crowd to The Other Stage and she looks primed to step up on the back of her second album Guts. 

The indie pop star did not perform in 2024 but her influence was felt as fans proudly flew flags in the style of her album Brat . 

With the cultural phenomenon being tapped into by Sadiq Khan and Kamala Harris this summer, could Charli XCX build on her rising fame and headline Glastonbury? 

Amazingly, the pop-punk trio have never played at Glastonbury. While their landmark Dookie and American Idiot albums were released 30 and 20 years ago respectively, they have a loyal fanbase - as a recent sell-out Wembley date shows . 

Another huge name to never set foot in Worthy Farm are AC/DC despite saying in 2014 they would play the Pyramid Stage if the call ever came. 

Glastonbury has seen ageing rockers The Rolling Stones, Guns N’ Roses, Paul McCartney and The Cure all headline in recent years, so there is precedent there. 

Harry Styles

The former One Direction singer has had a quieter past couple of years after his 2022 ubiquity that saw him headline solo shows at Wembley Stadium.

Styles is said to be working on an album to follow up Harry’s House and has festival pedigree having previously headlined Coachella. 

Fans have been hoping for nearly a decade that the reclusive star will release another album - and if 2025 is that year, then a Glastonbury performance could follow. 

Rihanna has recently focused her efforts on her Fenty beauty range and starting a family with US rapper A$AP Rocky, but she did perform at the Super Bowl Halftime Show in 2023. 

And finally, the US rapper could be well placed to finally (coup de) grace Glastonbury on the back of his recent LP The Death of Slim Shady. 

His huge back catalogue continues to remain popular, with his two greatest hits albums reaching streaming milestones .

Oasis Reunion: Who’s Likely to Support Band on Their 2025 Tour?

Early top picks for support acts include blossoms, fontaines d.c., young fathers, sam fender, and kasabian.

With Oasis officially reuniting for a massive run of shows , fans are already buzzing about who could join them on their 2025 UK and Ireland tour.

After years of rumours, Liam Gallagher gave us a teaser at his Reading Festival 2024 set on August 25th, and the news was then confirmed with a social media post yesterday (August 27th). 

The ‘OASIS LIVE 25’ tour will feature 14 stadium dates across Cardiff, Manchester, London, Edinburgh, and Dublin, with whispers of international dates to follow next year – though the details are still under wraps.

Tickets to the UK and Ireland shows go on sale this Saturday, August 31st at 8am in Ireland and 9am in the UK. 

So, who might be joining Oasis at the shows?

English indie rock band Blossoms are a strong contender. Over the weekend at Wythenshawe Park, they flashed the same teaser as Liam and Noel Gallagher during their headline set , sparking speculation. They even covered Oasis’ “Half the World Away” and have a history with Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds. As one of the biggest bands from Greater Manchester right now, Blossoms have three number one albums to their name and their fourth, Gary , drops next month.

Then there’s Kasabian, with the band’s Serge Pizzorno being  seen with Liam backstage at Reading . Plus, former Kasabian guitarist Jay Mehler joined Liam Gallagher’s Beady Eye back in 2013.

Fontaines D.C. are also a fan favourite. The Dublin-raised, London-based post-punk band have impressed with their expansive new album Romance , and their recent festival slots at Glastonbury and Reading have showed they can handle stadium-sized crowds.

It would be great to see some female talent on the bill, someone like The Last Dinner Party .  The London band won the Rising Star Brit Award and BBC Sound of 2024, and their debut album, Prelude to Ecstasy , hit number one in the UK in February. With their “art-rock bombast” and comparisons to Bowie and Queen, their sound might be a fresh twist on the classic Oasis vibe.

Fans are also calling for newer acts like Sam Fender to join the bill. Sir Elton John has praised Fender as the “best rock and roll artist there is,” saying he makes Oasis sound like a “calm palm trio.” Fender has covered Oasis’ “Morning Glory” live and has also supported The Killers – could he be a wildcard for the tour?

Just seen Sam Fender, (Come On Sammy Boy! as the crowd continued to refer to him!!) @BethnalGreenWorkingMensClub.

His voice was strong, true to his records and powerful enough to make the hair raise on the back of your neck as he reached the crescendo of my favourite 'Play God'. At first the room stood still, waiting for Sam to warm them up. As he sang and then chatted away between songs, the crowd began to hang off his every note, we were all jumping around, fully immersed by the end of the gig.

One to watch. One to see again. Cant wait to see him rise.

yay fun. he came through the crowd to get to the stage, I touched him!

The Sunflower Lounge, is a very small, intimate venue, holding about 40 people.

I would say, this was one of my favourite gigs, Sam Fender sounds exactly the same live to the actual songs, I would definitely see him again. After the gig, Sam signed autographs on his merch and took photos, again the gig was very intimate and personal.

I'm from the Netherlands and was very lucky to be able to get tickets for this show, even though it was in koln, Germany. What a great singer! Every note was spot on! I enjoyed every minute. I hope we're going to hear a lot more from you in the Netherlands! Thanks Sam!

Following two sold-out shows at London’s Wembley Stadium, Sam Fender has announced a North American tour.

His headlining dates kick off July 30 and the tour stops in Los Angeles on August 5 and New York City on August 9. Tickets are on-sale this Friday, April 29 at 10am local time. Sam has also confirmed a slot at Lollapalooza in Chicago (July 28-31) and Montreal’s Osheaga Festival on July 31. Additionally, this Fall Sam will be supporting Florence + The Machine on select dates of her U.S. tour including the stop at New York City’s Madison Square Garden on September 16.

Fender’s forthcoming tour marks his first visit stateside since the release of his critically acclaimed album Seventeen Going Under (Geffen Records), whose title track has been a world-wide hit. In the U.S. the song is currently No.17 at Alternative radio and No.10 at AAA. Guitar World called it “an infectious indie rock lungbuster that is up there with the very best of his repertoire.”

In addition to “Seventeen Going Under” Sam has also released the singles “Get You Down,” and “Spit Of You,” which he performed on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon late last year. The clip was shot in Low Lights Tavern, a 17th century pub in North Shields, England, where Fender used to work as a bartender.

Seventeen Going Under debuted at No.1 in the UK charts and won Fender the Brit Award for Best Alternative/Rock Act in February. While a more intensely personal record than his 2019 debut Hypersonic Missiles , on it Sam has lost none of his acute sense of observation. Like only truly great songwriters can, Sam turns his own experience into art that speaks to, and resonates, with all of us.

Sam Fender has added extra dates to his  Seventeen Going Under Tour .

Due to demand, the singer-songwriter will double up at the SSE Arena Wembley on April 2 and Newcastle's Utilita Arena on April 6, the days following his previously announced shows at the venue

Other stops on the spring trek include arenas in Nottingham, Liverpool, Dublin, Glasgow, Birmingham, Brighton and Manchester between March 20 and July 6. Tickets for all dates are on sale now.

The tour shares its name with Fender's second album, which came out on October 8. He'll also support it with a UK tour this autumn, which kicks off with two nights at the Barrowland Ballroom in Glasgow on October 25 and 25.

Sam Fender teases more tour dates “coming soon”

He'll play his first gig in almost a year this weekend

Sam Fender has teased more tour dates following his intimate Plymouth show this coming weekend.

The ‘Seventeen Going Under’ singer-songwriter will play at the 2,500-capacity Plymouth Pavilions venue on Saturday (August 3) as a warm-up for his headline set at Boardmasters 2024 a week later (10).

Tickets for the small gig were soon snapped up by fans, but Fender has promised that further dates are on the horizon.

“Wow, that was rapid,” he wrote in response to the Plymouth sell-out, before adding: “More dates coming soon x.” You can see the post below.

This weekend’s show will mark Fender’s first live performance since he headlined Reading & Leeds 2023 last August.

Earlier this year, the musician gave an update on his forthcoming third studio album .

“We have been recording and recording and making loads of stuff but it got to the point where I thought, ‘We don’t need to get this out yet. We need to get it right’,” Fender explained.

“For the second one [‘Seventeen Going Under’], we rushed to get that out and the third one we started rushing and I thought, ‘No, we have got to take the time’.”

He added: “I want to do the best I possibly can. I’d rather it be late and great than early and shite. What we have got so far I am absolutely over the moon with but I want to give it that bit more time and more thought.”

Last summer, Fender announced special Newcastle editions of his next album by sharing QR codes across the city . It came ahead of his huge homecoming concerts at St James’ Park stadium .

Speaking to NME in September 2022 , Fender described his new music as “very pretty” with a strong “singer-songwriter” vibe.

“If I try and force myself to write stadium songs, we could end up fucking it I think,” he said at the time. “Instead, I want to write about the stories that I have and the place that I’m mentally at in my life at this point. And I’ve had a lot to write about.”

Since dropping the Mercury Prize-nominated ‘Seventeen Going Under’ – which was named NME ‘s Album Of The Year in 2021 – Fender has shared 2024 song ‘Iris’ , taken from the  Jackdaw  soundtrack, and his  Noah Kahan collaboration ‘Homesick’ .

He has also  teased new material with The War On Drugs frontman Adam Granduciel .

Sam Fender will headline Boardmasters 2024 alongside Stormzy and Chase & Status .

The singer-songwriter has added fresh dates to his 2022 Seventeen Going Under tour. Find out where he's headed and how to buy tickets.

Sam Fender headed out on dates for his 2022 Seventeen Going Under tour.

The singer-songwriter confirmed he'd be playing dates up and down the country from 20th March, which include gigs at London's SSE Arena, Wembley and a homecoming gig at Newcastle's Utilita Arena.

The Get You Down rocker then added extra dates at London's Wembley SSE Arena on 2nd April and another homecoming gig at Newcastle's Utilita Arena on 6 April.

If that wasn't enough to get stuck into, Fender is set to play his biggest sold out gig to date at London's Finsbury has also lined up a summer show at Manchester's Castlefield Bowl on 6 July .

Much of his live dates are sold out but the remaining tickets are on sale now.

What is unethical secondary ticketing and ticket resale?

Unethical secondary ticketing is when people buy tickets at face value and then re-sell them at inflated prices via non-artist approved methods and websites, thus denying real fans the chance to buy at face value. 

Ticket touts and unauthorised resellers use multiple payment cards, false identities and sophisticated computer programmes (‘bots’) to buy up large amounts of tickets which they then offer for resale at highly-inflated prices. 

How many tickets can I buy?

There will be a strict limit of 4 standing or 6 seated tickets per show date per transaction. This restriction is in place in order to give as many people as possible a fair chance to buy tickets. The whole party must arrive at the same time as the lead booker who bought the tickets. 

PLEASE NOTE that any and all transactions that are detected as bot purchases, patrons creating duplicate accounts in order to purchase more than the ticket limit or any action that indicates a suspicious purchase in excess of the ticket limit, will be cancelled.

You will have to try to complete another order.

Can I buy tickets as a gift?  

The matching ID of the surname of the lead booker will be an entry requirement, the other tickets bought by that person can be used for other people if they ALL arrive with the lead booker.  If you want to buy as gifts, then you’ll also have to attend to get your recipients into the show. 

What are the entry requirements?

Lead bookers may be required to produce email booking confirmation and a valid form of photo ID that matches the name on the confirmation.

Accepted forms of Photo ID are – A current driver’s licence (including provisional licence), a current or recently expired passport (provided the picture is a good resemblance of the holder) or the government backed PASS scheme  http://www.pass-scheme.org.uk/

What are the age restrictions?

All venue age restrictions are clearly displayed at the sales pages on the ticket agent websites. 

Under 18s must be accompanied by an adult

No under 14’s on the pitch.

  I can’t find my confirmation email?

In the first instance please check your junk or spam folder. If that doesn’t work, contact the customer services of the ticket agent you booked through. If you are unsure which company you bought from, this information is usually displayed on your credit card statement or bank statement. 

I can’t go any more and need to sell on my ticket. What do I do?

The reselling of any Sam Fender ticket is strictly forbidden other than through the official face value resale platform of your original point of purchase or via Twickets. Any Sam Fender ticket offered for resale elsewhere, either on or offline (including Viagogo or any other unauthorised source including all secondary ticket retail websites), will result in the entire original booking being cancelled. The original purchaser and their party will be refused admission and any other purchases they hold will also be cancelled.

When will we receive our tickets?

They’ll be sent to you nearer to the time of the shows. 

Are cameras allowed?

Professional cameras (deemed as cameras with removable lenses), video and recording equipment are strictly forbidden. Personal use cameras and smart-phone cameras are fine. 

How early should we turn up?

Please check ticket agent websites for door opening times and do allow yourself plenty of time to get in before the start of the show. 

I can’t get in with my tickets, it failed to scan and I’ve been turned away at the turnstile?

Don’t worry, we can try and help you. In the first instance head to the box office where someone will be able to help you work out what’s gone wrong. Remember DO NOT buy a ticket from someone you don’t know either in person on the street OR from an unauthorised secondary ticket website.
