Whitsundays Cruise
Cruise Itinerary Expand All
Day 1: brisbane, queensland, australia.
Much more than just Queensland’s capital, Brisbane is a modern, cosmopolitan and must-see destination – a city of possibilities and contrasts. It has the meandering Brisbane River and Moreton Bay marine park on its door, and rugged national parks and rolling hills as its backdrop.
The Brisbane Portside Cruise Terminal’s prime location makes it perfectly easy to connect with destinations near and far. Ferries and buses to the city centre just 10-15 mins away and just 7kms from the Domestic and International Airports.
Day 2: Cruising At Sea
Indulge in the ultimate relaxation at the top deck, featuring a spacious Jacuzzi and comfortable loungers perfect for soaking up the sun. Enjoy panoramic views and unwind at the sky bar with refreshing cocktails. The observation deck offers a serene space to read, make yourself a coffee, or grab snacks and drinks while enjoying the ocean views.
Day 3: Whitsundays & Great Barrier (Airlie Beach), Queensland, Australia
The Whitsundays, an idyllic cluster of 74 islands off Queensland's coast, are the gateway to the Great Barrier Reef. Visit Whitehaven Beach, renowned for its pristine silica sands and crystal-clear waters. For panoramic views, take a short hike to Hill Inlet Lookout. Snorkeling and diving are top activities here, with spots like the vibrant coral gardens of Hardy Reef showcasing marine biodiversity.
For those interested in marine life, a trip to the Great Barrier Reef is a must. Explore the underwater world at popular dive sites like the Bait Reef or Heart Reef, where you can encounter colorful corals and diverse marine species. For a unique experience, consider a scenic flight over the reef to appreciate its vastness and beauty from above.
Ships docking at Airlie Beach typically anchor offshore, with passengers tendered to the Port of Airlie Marina. The marina is conveniently located just 1 kilometer (0.6 miles) from the town center - a quick 5-minute walk. For those interested in local culture, the Airlie Beach Markets, held every Saturday, feature an array of crafts, fresh produce, and unique souvenirs or take a leisurely stroll along the Airlie Beach Lagoon, a saltwater swimming spot perfect for a dip!
Day 4: Cruising At Sea
Relish the diverse dining options on board, from the main restaurant serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner to the café bistro offering meals, snacks, and barista coffees. For a more casual experience, the bistro on level five provides a relaxing atmosphere. Dining on shore is also an option in many ports, adding variety to your culinary journey.
Day 5: Brisbane, Queensland, Australia
If you're heading home or continuing to explore more of Australia, Brisbane's Portside Cruise Terminal is just 7kms from the domestic and international airport. Brisbane's city centre is just 10-15 mins away if you're planning to explore the city.

P&O Cruises hails new flight partner after Maleth controversy
- Share on WhatsApp
- Share by email
P&O Cruises is confident agents’ clients will receive “consistently high” service following the start of Norse Atlantic Airways flights to replace the controversial Maleth Aero contract .
The first P&O Cruises charter flight by Norse Atlantic to serve ships in the Caribbean this winter left Manchester airport on November 1.
The low-cost long-haul carrier has replaced Maleth Aero, the subject of potential legal action after flight delays last winter . Agents’ clients also complained about a lack of premium seating and entertainment on Maleth Aero flights.
Carnival UK and P&O Cruises president Paul Ludlow said the cruise line had taken on board feedback.
He said: “We’ve listened to our agents and guests about what they expect from a fly-cruise experience with P&O Cruises.
“We know flights play a key role in the overall holiday experience, which is why we chose to partner with Norse, alongside Tui Airways and Virgin Atlantic. These partnerships underpin our commitment to ensuring guests are as happy with their airline as they are on our ships, and we are confident guests will receive a consistently high level of service during every element of their holiday.”
Cruise.co.uk influencer Holly Crabtree, a former agent of 35 years, was among those on board the first Norse flight. Crabtree, who flew in premium economy, said: “I was surprised; the flight was incredible.
“When the seats reclined they were not far off a lie-flat bed and it was really spacious. There were more than 200 movies to watch, the food was really good and the friendliness of the crew stood out.”
Agents said they looked forward to clients experiencing the new charters after last year’s problems.
Henbury Travel owner Richard Slater said: “Lessons have been learnt. We have clients going soon and they have been reassured flights will be with well-known names, offering modern aircraft and comfy, spacious seats.”
Norse Atlantic’s aircraft will fly weekly on Fridays from Manchester to Barbados until next March. Saturday flights will also run on alternating weeks from Gatwick and Manchester to Antigua/Barbados.
