The Tyavarekoppa Lion and Tiger Reserve is a popular wildlife destination of Karnataka. It is located at a distance of about 10 km from Shimoga (also known as Shivamogga) on the Shimoga-Sagar Road. The reserve is spread across 200 hectares of land.

Tyavarekoppa Lion and Tiger Reserve is a place to rehabilitate the lions and tigers that are rescued from circuses across India. It is an open zoo where safaris are conducted for tourists by the forest department. The wildlife safari was started in the year 1998.

At a distance of 13 km from Shimoga, the Tyavarekoppa Lion & Tiger Safari is a safari park situated in Shimoga, Karnataka. Located on Shimoga - Sagara Road, it is one of the must-visit Shimoga tourist places , especially for wildlife enthusiasts. Starting in 1998, the Tyavarekoppa Lion and Tiger Safari is the second safari park in Karnataka after Bannerghatta National Park. Spread across 200 hectares of land, Tyavarekoppa Safari park is the place to rehabilitate the lions and tigers that are rescued from circuses across India. You will get to see animals like leopard, tiger, lion, deer, sloth bear, crocodile, and Indian jackal here. Different bird species are also displayed here. This is one of the few open zoos in Karnataka where tourists can enjoy safaris. So, when you are searching for things to do near Shimoga, this is something you should go for!

This place is perfect for the picnic and for photography. Also, a canteen located inside the park which serves snacks and some yummy food kinds of stuff. The Safari is at a distance of 106 kms from GundiMane. It lies 10 km from Shimoga, when traveling from Sagar. The Lion-Tiger Safari started way back in 1988 is an ideal picnic spot. The safari is spread over a huge area of 200 hectares of dense forest. One can be a witness to the grace, diversity, colour and marvel of nature and catch enlivening glimpses of lions, tigers, cheetah, bear, deer, and rare migratory birds as they amble around in this luxuriant habitat. Regular recreation and sight seeing outings are organized by the forest department for visitors and special recreation facilities are made for the children visiting the Safari. While the scene is sure to enrapture you, there are strict rules prohibiting the use of Cameras within the area and while on the Safari, you need to compulsorily pick up the ticket . The Lion-Tiger Safari is open from 9.00 AM to 5.00 PM on all days of the week, save Tuesday, which is the one day when the Safari is shut and unavailable. Almost all buses to Sagar will stop here.

Lions have sex on top of safari truck full of people, wild video, roaring sex lions get busy on top of safari truck ... tourists take it all in.

A couple of lions felt the love so much that they started banging on top of a tourist safari truck ... and the people inside certainly got an eyeful and then some.

A group of tourists partaking in a South African safari were recently left stunned as 2 randy big cats made themselves at home atop their vehicle.

The male lion is seen mounting a resting female lion ... confirming their boinking session with a couple of growls. The jeep noticeably shakes from side to side as they do it ... sparking laughter and gasps from the tourists seated below.

The lions' intimacy didn't last too long ... with the lioness lying tired to the side as the king of the jungle eventually disconnected.

While the encounter may have given some tourists the ick on the spot ... it's significantly less scary than the African elephant attack from earlier this month -- which ended in a death.

No one died here ... just a couple of kitties getting laid!

LOXAHATCHEE, Fla. (CBS12) — Lion Country Safari welcomes a scimitar-horned oryx calf to the herd!

Known for their majestic, curved horns that can grow up to several feet long, Scimitar-horned oryxes are desert-adapted antelopes. While this little one's horns won't be reaching those impressive lengths for a while, its arrival is a major step in conservation efforts.

For now, the mother and daughter are taking some much-needed rest in a special maternity area, away from the public eye. Lion Country Safari prioritizes the well-being of both mother and calf during this crucial bonding period.

Sadly, the scimitar-horned oryx is extinct in the wild. Human activity, including overhunting, habitat loss due to drought, and competition from livestock grazing, have driven them to extinction in their natural habitat, according to the Smithsonian's National Zoo & Conservation Biology Institute.

However, there is hope! Conservation scientists are working tirelessly on reintroduction programs in Tunisia, Chad, and Niger, aiming to bring these magnificent creatures back to their native lands.

The park looks forward to sharing updates on the calf's development as it joins the herd in the future. In the meantime, this new arrival serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of conservation and the beauty of these remarkable animals.
