Four Seasons Singapore review: A boulevard of dreams

Travel Weekly’s editor-at-large, Nancy Hromin recently enjoyed a stay at the Four Seasons Singapore, read her rave reviews here.

First Impression

Friendly staff at Four Seasons Singapore. (Supplied)

We arrived early from our flight from Colombo and although they couldn’t promise an early check-in, the staff delivered one, as well as an upgrade. It is a sanctuary of hospitality and understated elegance and the check-in process was seamless. Small details like heading over to breakfast, which because we weren’t officially checked in, was managed with barely a lift of the eyebrows, and we enjoyed a sumptuous breakfast.

Four Seasons Singapore is only 15 minutes from the CBD. (Supplied)

Singapore, has in recent years become so much more than a stop over and the central location of the Four Seasons makes many attractions walkable. The hotel’s proximity to key business hubs and transportation links makes it an ideal choice for both leisure and business travellers seeking convenience and accessibility during their stay. There are some striking part of the city. If you are a fan of modern architecture, Singapore is a dream locale to explore modern structures and engineering expertise. We also walked to Kampong Glam which is the centre of Singaporean Muslim life. The name Kampong Glam comes from the Malay word kampong, meaning “village,” and “gelam” a particular kind of tree that at one time grew abundantly in the area. We enjoyed a scrumptious Turkish lunch there, at Anatolia Restaurant, in the heart of Arab street.

Executive Lounge

Another highlight of the hotel is the executive lounge, a perfectly curated space for meetings, overlooking the stunning pool outside, and a place to enjoy Champagne and canapés at the end of the day. The Executive Lounge offers a host of amenities and services designed to enhance your experience including high-speed internet access and a dedicated concierge to arrange private meeting spaces and personalised assistance with travel arrangements,

I don’t know how Four seasons make their beds so comfortable, but as soon as I see it, I want to crawl under the (flat sheet) and have a snooze. They are so lush, so comfortable. The room is designed with all mod cons, thoughtful touches like a fresh fruit bowl and of course, the plush bedding.

Dining is incredible! (Supplied)

Food in Singapore rarely disappoints, from fresh and delicious street food at the Hawker stands to food at hotels. At Four Seasons, culinary delights across multiple dining establishments, each offering its own unique ambiance. If you have time, try them all, we unfortunately didn’t.

Of course, top level service. (Supplied)

It goes without saying that the Four Season magic is in its discreet and sophisticated service. Our needs were anticipated and exceeded with effortless grace. I can’t wait to go back.

REVIEW – Four Seasons Singapore

four seasons singapore travel weekly

Four Seasons

  • Rate: 405 SGD per night inc tax ( with additional FSPP benefits )
  • Upgraded from Boulevard Room
  • Loyalty Program: FSPP

I have now visited this hotel on three separate occasions. This review was last updated in March 2022 to reflect the most recent changes to the hotel, including a new spa, gym, bar and restaurant.

Singapore is an odd city for luxury hotels, with properties generally unable to command the kind of rates possible in Hong Kong or even Bangkok.

I really enjoyed my stay at the Fairmont in 2015 but a lot of that was to do with the fact that I was able to apply a complimentary suite upgrade certificate.

I felt no real compulsion to return there on subsequent visits to the city. Indeed, I’m not entirely sold on the prospect of staying at any hotel in the Marina Bay Area.

Having now visited the Four Seasons Singapore on multiple occasions I have to say that it not only keeps getting better, it is also quite possibly one of the greatest hotel deals in the world.

Pricing is a quarter of what you’d expect at a Four Seasons property in Europe or the USA but the hard product and service are utterly exceptional.

Since I am a Four Seasons Preferred Partner (FSPP) agent, I can offer you FSPP benefits at any Four Seasons property.

An example of FSPP benefits, which may be available on your stay:

• Upgrade of one room category , based on availability at time of check-in.

• Full breakfast , for up to two in room guests. Either at the restaurant or via in-room dining .

• $100 Hotel Credit.

• Early check-in/late check-out, subject to availability.

Your booking will be direct with Four Seasons. Since I’m managing the booking on your behalf, I am able to negotiate all the above extras for you.

Additionally if you find a cheaper rate elsewhere, I can help to get the price matched AND STILL add the FSPP benefits to your booking!

(written in 2018)

We took a Grab from the airport, the journey took a little over 25 minutes at a cost of around $18 SGD.

Pulling up to the hotel at around 10pm I must admit that I was initially underwhelmed. There’s no doubting the power of that famous Four Seasons tree logo: you expect great things to follow. However both the building exterior and the lobby were rather dull.

The check-in process was very prompt and efficient and we were handed a letter detailing our booking benefits. Although these generally only include a single category upgrade we were told that we had been upgraded two categories to an Executive Suite!

FS Singapore exec suite-1

As soon as we left the main lobby area and made our way up to our suite, the decor changed quite remarkably. Gone was the old school black, red and gold – with a far lighter and more modern palette of blues and cream taking its place.

Executive Suite

(visited in 2018)

Upon first setting foot into the suite my first impression was that this seemed like it was the interior of an entirely different hotel! This 75m² space was every bit as elegant and modern as our room at the Four Seasons Tunis (one of the newest properties in the global FS portfolio).

The living area was huge and broadly split into a sitting room with an L shaped sofa and separate dining area.

A welcome fruit bowl and note from the GM were waiting for us on the dining room table.

The dining table was located within an alcove next to the bedroom. At the far end of this alcove was a console table featuring multiple universal power sockets and USB ports.

FS Singapore – Executive Suite.

The sofa was really versatile given that it featured extensive storage on the window side as well as having portable side and coffee tables arranged around it.

The 65″ TV was the largest that I’ve ever seen in a hotel room. I really loved the entertainment console surrounding it too, it continued the copper and grey theme of the suite wonderfully.

Complimentary bottled water was supplied in addition to the absolutely fantastic Lavazza coffee machine, just like the one I have at home! I’m also a big fan of Riedel glassware and it was great to have a little reminder of home here too.

FS Singapore exec suite-18

The bedroom was deceptively large and very cleverly designed. Closing the shutter style double doors made this space feel very cosy and inviting at night.

four seasons singapore travel weekly

The bed was unbelievably comfortable. I don’t know how Four Seasons do it but their bedding really is the most consistently amazing of any hotel chain. I loved the design of the leather headboard with the strip of recessed lighting and integrated reading lamps too. The wardrobe was very large and featured my all-time favourite hangers. The carved Four Seasons clothes hangers are every bit as good as the very best that I’ve been given with suits by Tom Ford, Kiton or Brioni.

The TV facing the bed was as large and modern as humanly possible given the space constraints and was easily superior to the main television in a lot of suites I’ve stayed in, in other hotels.

FS Singapore exec suite-46

Both sides of the bed had multiple universal power sockets and USB ports, in addition to a full set of well labelled light switches. One side even had an extended night table that continued into a vanity area. A very luxurious piece of design.

FS Singapore exec suite-24

Main Bathroom

The bathroom was relatively compact but beautifully decorated and lit. The copper fixtures and clean lines of the sinks worked to bring an undeniably modern touch to this expanse of luxurious marble. The patterned blue rug also brought a lot of life to the room.

FS Singapore exec suite-29

FS Singapore – Executive Suite bathroom.

The dual vanities provided ample counter space for two people.

The shower was extremely powerful and came with a full set of L’Occitane bathing amenities.

FS Singapore exec suite-31

The toilet was housed in a separate room at the far end of the bathroom, with a second door opening right by the front door of the suite. Some under-sink lighting provided a very helpful nocturnal ‘runway’ should you require it.

Boulevard Room

On my second visit to the property, in early February 2022, I booked an entry level Deluxe Room. The booking was made at around 8am, moments after exiting immigration in Singapore airport.

Amazingly when we reached the hotel 30 minutes later, they not only had all the details of our reservation, they had already prepared an FSPP welcome letter and had an upgraded Boulevard Room waiting for us.

Entering the room there was a small atrium of sorts, rather than the narrow hallway you might expect in a standard room. The mirrored double doors of the bathroom opened into this space, adding to the semblance of space. Immediately to our left was a deceptively large wardrobe.

FS Singapore 2022-8

The triangular shape of the bathroom meant that this too felt rather spacious. The overall design aesthetic was decidedly old school though, albeit with the addition of a modern rug and lighting.

Four Seasons Singapore - Boulevard Room

Four Seasons Singapore – Boulevard Room

I was particularly impressed to see twin vanities in a standard room, together with both a bathtub and large, walk-in shower.

FS Singapore 2022-5

There was also a separate toilet and bidet (although a Toto washlet would have been preferable).

FS Singapore 2022-2

The Bedroom had the same modern feel as the Executive Suite, albeit in a condensed format. The cream headboard, light carpet and copper accented furniture were all in contrast to the more traditional looking bathroom.

Four Seasons Singapore - Boulevard Room

Four Seasons Singapore – Boulevard Room.

The diagonal wall of the bathroom once again played a rather clever design trick, creating enough space for a large vanity area – with plenty of natural light. I personally set this up as a desk, with ample space for my dual screens. Had I been staying longer I would have requested an office chair from reception, to replace the ottoman seat.

Four Seasons Singapore - Boulevard Room

The faux shagreen fronted minibar housed a fantastic Lavazza coffee machine – just like the suite, a huge upgrade over Nespresso. Filtered water was provided free of charge and was produced in the same type of facility that filters the water for Ritz Carlton Maldives and Patina.

Four Seasons Singapore - Boulevard Room

The bedside tables were very large, with plenty of counter space in addition to the storage drawers. Both sides of the bed featured universal power sockets, USB ports and clearly labelled light switches.

FS Singapore 2022-16

At the far end of the room was a larger circular table, where you could enjoy room service or perhaps set up a desk. The chaise longue by the window was a lovely touch, giving a very residential feel to the room.

Four Seasons Singapore - Boulevard Room

Next to this table was a panel with numerous additional power sockets, as well as a Bose bluetooth speaker.

FS Singapore 2022-15

The view is the only thing that distinguishes this room category from the entry level Deluxe Rooms and I must say that I was rather happy with it.

One Bedroom Suite

We stayed in this suite in late Feb of 2022 on a one night layover on our way to Australia. This was a fantastic upgrade but as is so often the case, one that we wished we had more time to enjoy!

I would say that as a couple, the Executive Suite felt a little cosier, the perfect size for the two of us. The One Bedroom Suite is substantially more spacious and ideal either for entertaining, or if you are travelling with children.

The suite featured two full bathrooms, the first of which was located just off the entrance hallway.

FS Singapore 2022-49

The beige and grey marble was back to the style of the Executive Suite. Not super modern but clearly an update on what was here previously.

Four Seasons Singapore - One Bedroom Suite

Four Seasons Singapore – One Bedroom Suite.

Beyond this was the capacious living room, with plenty of space to entertain guests (and a gigantic 65″ TV).

Four Seasons Singapore - One Bedroom Suite

If travelling with younger children there would be more than enough space to set up a rollaway or sofa bed here, with the children having their own separate bathroom.

Four Seasons Singapore - One Bedroom Suite

The bedroom was very generously proportioned, to the point where it almost felt a little empty. This is where I personally preferred the cosier feel of the Executive Suite.

Four Seasons Singapore - One Bedroom Suite

One interesting design feature was that the bathroom shutters could be opened out in to the bedroom. Beneath them was a dressing table complete with power sockets. To the left of this was an enormous walk-in wardrobe.

This feature was a significant upgrade over the smaller Executive Suite.

FS Singapore 2022-52

The main bathroom added grey marble to the shower and this made me wonder why they didn’t go all the way and replace all the marble in this shade. In my opinion, this small change made a big difference to the aesthetic appeal of the bathroom.

Food and Drink

Room service dinner.

Given our late night arrival on our first visit, the $100 FSPP credit came in very handy for a complimentary room service dinner!

One of my favourite things about Four Seasons hotels is the app. You have a full room service menu available on your phone and can easily customise dishes at the tap of a button. So much easier than dealing with people over the phone where language barriers can easily create a problem.

The food arrived within 25 minutes of ordering and was very professionally presented and explained to us by the server.

FS Singapore exec suite-38

Both my Tom Yum soup and Kamara’s rigatoni al ragu were excellent – very generous portions and absolutely delicious. The cost came to the equivalent of $50, which meant that we still had another $50 left to spend on cocktails the next day!

Room Service Breakfast

Our FSPP rate also included complimentary breakfast, which we were able to take either as room service or in the restaurant . I’m a huge fan of an indulgent room service breakfast and I have to say this was one of the better examples I’ve had the good fortune to encounter.

The room was transformed in the morning by a cascade of natural light from the large windows.

I ordered the Japanese breakfast set, which was extraordinary. I always feel like I get such a good start to the day when I eat this healthily.

FS Singapore – room service breakfast.

Meanwhile Kamara opted for poached eggs with immensely crispy bacon and grilled potatoes, served with a fruit plate and glass of freshly squeezed watermelon juice. Ordinarily this room service feast would have come to nearly $100 USD so getting this for free was a fantastic bonus!

Breakfast at One-Ninety Restaurant

This restaurant was drastically remodelled in 2021 and is now every bit as modern as the rooms (if not more so).

We enjoyed breakfast here upon our early arrival to the hotel – opting to skip breakfast on our second day, since we had a 5am departure.

Shifting our included breakfast from one day to the other was absolutely no issue . We mentioned that we’d like to do this during check-in and by the time we reached the restaurant, staff were already expecting us.

The dining room is awash with greenery, plush booth seating and vintage touches like the screens and lamps. The designer definitely succeeded in turning this into an Instagrammable space.

Four Seasons Singapore - One Ninety Restaurant

Four Seasons Singapore – One Ninety Restaurant.

Service was impeccable, with drinks brought out very quickly. The extra strong iced cappuccino was rather sparing on the coffee though. Having said that, not even Four Seasons Kuda Huraa could get this right on the first go (at 10x the average nightly room rate).

FS Singapore 2022-25

Although a la carte dishes were offered, we weren’t super hungry after our long flight from London. We opted instead to try a few different things from the buffet.

Stations were completely encased in perspex, with staff serving customers. Basically the exact model followed in Europe in Summer of 2020 .

Four Seasons Singapore - One Ninety Restaurant

The food was all of a very high quality and beautifully presented. There was a bit of a language barrier with the predominantly Mandarin speaking staff but I imagine that this will erode over time, as foreign tourists continue to return.

One Ninety Bar

The hotel’s One-Ninety bar is something of a local hotspot; when visiting for the first time our local friends immediately mentioned to us how good the bar is.

The outdoor terrace previously had furniture that would have looked more at home in the Polo Lounge or perhaps on the grounds of a Tuscan estate.

This area has now been remodelled to add more modern design elements like large padded benches and swinging chairs. The space is now considerably brighter at night too, given the abundance of oversized lamps.

On our first visit I ordered the Signature 190: a blend of Monkey 47 Gin, Cocchi Amaro, tonic and thyme. Kamara went with the wonderfully named Mexicoma: Cimarron Blanco tequila, Campari, house grapefruit sherbet, lime with Campari and salt dust. Both cocktails were excellent.

FS Singapore exec suite-67

So good in fact that on our return visit, we ordered them again. The recipe appears to have changed, reducing the Campari content, but these were still fantastic.

Leisure Facilities

The 2021 remodelling of the public spaces is perhaps most evident on the gym and spa floor. Previously it looked a bit like a dreary Sheraton.

I had a real soft spot for the old gym. It had a ton of great machines, the dumbbells went up to 70lbs and it was open 24h.  I will admit though that the old spit and sawdust vibe was perhaps not to the taste of the average Four Seasons guest:

We didn’t have any time to experience spa treatments during our two short visits in 2022. We were however able to take a quick tour of the facilities and came away very impressed!

A dramatically illuminated staircase guided guests up from the gym lounge area.

FS Singapore 2022-61

The design once again demonstrated that its finger is firmly on the pulse of the zeitgeist, with treatment rooms feeling more like bedrooms (and featuring the all grey marble showers that I wished had made their way into the suite bathrooms during the last renovation).

Swimming Pools

The hotel features two swimming pools, with the one directly outside the gym being adults only . It also has lanes for swimming laps.

In addition to these facilities, the hotel also features a tennis court (which was visible from our Executive Suite).

Basics Checklist

☑︎ Power sockets near the bed The best I’ve ever seen in a hotel. Two universal sockets and two USBs on each side of the bed! ☑︎ Easy to understand light switches ☑︎ Coffee machine  Bonus points for the fact it was Lavazza! ☑︎ Separate shower and bath ☑︎ Blackout blinds ☑︎ Stable, fast and free Wifi ☑︎ Feather pillows ☑︎ Quiet and powerful aircon

Overall, it was really hard to find fault with this stay.

We received a very generous upgrade and tremendous value for money given the included breakfast and $100 USD hotel credit.

All of the food and drink that we had was absolutely top notch and our limited interactions with staff were universally excellent.

The gym was far better equipped than I had been expecting and the fact that there was a separate adults only pool was a very pleasant surprise.

Add to this the known factors like the amazing bedding, Four Seasons app and location in Orchard road, closer to the real action and away from the tourists and you have all the makings of my new favourite hotel in Singapore.

When we book, we aim for the optimum season for the destination, but we avoid holidays and major public events, when prices are highest. We generally book a room at one category up from the most basic.

We take advantage of promotional rates, when possible. That means the rate you see above might have included other benefits, such as spa or meal credits.

The Four Seasons Singapore offers recently renovated rooms, numerous fine-dining venues, and outstanding service, though the public spaces are a bit dated.

After wrapping up my stay at St. Regis Singapore , I headed down the road to the Four Seasons Singapore, .

The Four Seasons Singapore has cemented a reputation as one of the most luxurious hotels in the city-state, and has been undergoing a comprehensive renovation since 2016.

Having recently begun my journey of exploring Four Seasons’s footprint around the world, I was feeling curious as to how the Singapore location would compare.

Four Seasons Singapore – Booking

Four Seasons is widely considered one of the world’s most luxurious group of hotels, and is arguably one of the best-known luxury hotel brands in the world.

With that, the Four Seasons Singapore commands a premium price tag. Anticipate spending $500–700 SGD ($510–710 CAD) for a standard room, with the cost varying based on the time of year. In my case, I booked this stay at a favourable industry rate.

It’s worth pointing out that unlike other popular hotel chains, such as Marriott Bonvoy and World of Hyatt , Four Seasons doesn’t have a traditional loyalty program that awards points and elite status.

Instead, the brand has an exclusive invitation-only guest recognition program reserved for its most elite clientele who have a long-standing history with the chain.

The good news is that there’s a method to squeeze more value out of your Four Seasons stays. By booking your accommodation via the Four Seasons Preferred Partner program, you can enjoy a range of additional benefits and perks without any extra charges, such as free breakfast for two, a $100 (USD) property credit, and more.

Additionally, the Four Seasons Preferred Partner program stands out from other similar initiatives, such as Virtuoso or Amex Fine Hotels & Resorts , because the program allows you to take advantage of all promotional rates in conjunction with Preferred Partner benefits.

Whether you’re booking a prepaid, promotional, flexible, or fully refundable rate, you’ll always receive Preferred Partner benefits by booking through an advisor.

Book a hotel stay with Prince of Travel through Four Seasons Preferred Partner and enjoy exclusive additional benefits at no cost to you, including:

  • Daily breakfast for two guests, including in-room dining
  • Room upgrade, subject to availability at check-in
  • $100 (USD) property credit for room bookings; $200 (USD) property credit for suite bookings
  • Special offers combinable with Preferred Partner benefits
  • Third, Fourth, Fifth, or Sixth Night Free at select properties

Four Seasons Singapore – Location

The Four Seasons Singapore is nestled in a quieter part of Orchard Boulevard, close to the island’s main shopping, business, and entertainment district.

four seasons singapore travel weekly

There’s a wide range of dining and shopping options just steps away from the hotel, and a five-minute walk outside will take you to the underpass to ION Mall and Orchard Road, where the action lies.

Plus, it’s a leisurely stroll to the Singapore Botanic Gardens, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with lush greenery and lakes.

Singapore is a city with many iconic landmarks, and the hotel is well situated near several of them. Merlion and Marina Bay Sands Skypark are a short 10-minute drive to the south of the hotel, while Gardens by the Bay is an additional five-minute drive in the same direction.

When it comes to getting around the city, the Four Seasons Singapore is conveniently only a three-minute walk from the Orchard MRT. Moreover, buses, taxis and Grab (the South East Asian equivalent of Uber) are also readily available.

Lastly, travelling to the Four Seasons from Singapore Changi Airport is just a 25-minute journey via Grab and costs around $17–25 SGD ($17–25 CAD). The hotel can arrange car service and taxis on your behalf as well, albeit for an additional charge.

Four Seasons Singapore – Check-in

As the Four Seasons Singapore was built in 1994, the hotel’s exterior may appear unassuming at first, with its beige cement and small glass windows.

However, upon arrival, the scenery is more visually appealing, with lush greenery surrounding the entrance exuding a sense of tranquillity.

Pulling into the hotel, I was promptly greeted by a hotel associate who assisted with my luggage and directed me to the check-in desk.

Heading inside, the lobby features a grand staircase accompanied by a sculpture carved from white stone. The lobby features an ornate and classical ambiance, accentuated by floral centrepieces and wooden touches.

Indeed, as the lobby still retains much of its appearance from when the Four Seasons Singapore first opened in 1994, it could be described as somewhat dated.

Tucked away to the right of the lobby, the check-in desk is situated alongside two comfortable seating areas.

The hotel associate assisted me with the check-in formalities and confirmed my stay in the Boulevard Room with twin beds, as I was travelling with a companion for this stay.

Making my way down the hallway, adorned with fresh flowers and captivating artwork, I eventually arrived at the elevator lobby and made my way up to the Boulevard Room on the 18th floor.

Four Seasons Singapore – Boulevard Room

The Boulevard Room is a step up from the base-level Deluxe Room at the hotel, offering a generous amount of space and a fresh, modern design aesthetic after the renovation.

The room features a calming colour palette of beige, grey, and ivory, complemented by marble and wooden accents. The furnishings reflect a blend of Asian and European influences, and layering can be seen throughout the space – notably, the star pattern design on the walls was inspired by the Peranakan style.

Upon entering the room, a wide foyer opens to the main area, with a dressing area to the right. To the left is a vertical hutch that plays host to the minibar area equipped with a Lavazza coffee maker.

Two comfortable twin beds are located on the right-hand wall, flanked by night tables featuring bedside controls for the lights and curtains. Additionally, a grey upholstered daybed is optimally positioned next to the large windows, complete with a side table.

On the wall opposite the beds is a long, narrow desk and a wall-mounted flat-screen TV.

Next to the beds, two comfortable armchairs and an accompanying table create a cozy nook. As our welcome amenity, the table was thoughtfully arranged with a note, two refreshing coconut drinks, and some sweets, which is always appreciated.

The elegant bathroom is adorned with marble accents and equipped with L’Occitane bath amenities, featuring a spacious dual vanity surrounded by ample counter space and a large mirror.

Adjacent to the vanity are an alcove bathtub and a walk-in shower. The toilet is tucked away in its own private compartment behind a sliding door.

When it comes to views, the Boulevard Room overlooks Orchard Road, offering a pleasant mix of greenery and cityscape views.

While not the most extravagant or showy room, the Boulevard Room at Four Seasons Singapore afforded me an inviting and comfortable abode for the night.

I liked the fact that the interior was much more modern than the hotel’s public areas, and I appreciated the cultural touches in the room and the well-appointed marble bathroom.

Four Seasons Singapore – Premier Room

I also had the opportunity to tour a few other room types at the Four Seasons Singapore.

The Premier Rooms are situated on the corners of each floor and offer an extra-spacious option that’s otherwise identical to the Boulevard Room in layout.

Thanks to its corner location and higher ceilings, the Premier Room feels more open and provides a superior panoramic view of Orchard Road and the surrounding neighbourhood through its large corner windows.

The bathroom is well-equipped with a dual vanity, a bathtub, and a walk-in shower.

Four Seasons Singapore –Executive Suite

The Executive Suite boasts a similar contemporary yet cozy style, highlighted by calming colours and cool blues.

The living area is very generously sized, featuring a sofa bed, two armchairs, a table, and a flat-screen TV. Behind the sofa, you’ll find the same Peranakan-inspired patterns on the wall.

The bedroom lies behind colonial-style doors with adjustable wooden shutters, allowing natural daylight to filter in during the day.

The ensuite bathroom features a double vanity, a walk-in shower, and a bathtub, as well as a separately enclosed private toilet and bidet.

Four Seasons Singapore – Club Suite

Guests who book a Club Suite will enjoy exclusive access to the Executive Lounge for up to two adults.

The suite boasts a separate living area and bedroom with ample space. In the living room, you’ll find a cozy sofa, two armchairs, a table, and a large flat-screen TV, all complemented by generous natural light pouring in through the large windows.

Located adjacent to the entrance of the Club Suite entrance is a powder room complete with a shower.

The bedroom is similarly spacious, featuring more large windows and a dedicated dressing area. From the bedroom, you can access the marble-clad ensuite bathroom, equipped with a dual vanity, bathtub, and walk-in shower.

On the whole, the guest rooms and suites at the Four Seasons Singapore are understated in design, but spacious and functional. The Deluxe Rooms and the Boulevard Rooms are fine choices for entry-level accommodations, with the latter offering a better view.

The Premier Rooms and Executive Suites are well-suited for families with small children, those travelling with a larger group, or those simply seeking a bit more breathing room during their stay.

Meanwhile, the Club Suite would benefit those who value a high level of comfort with the added exclusivity of lounge access.

Four Seasons Singapore – Executive Lounge

Singapore is among the select few Four Seasons properties around the world to offer an Executive Lounge for its guests.

The lounge is located on the hotel’s third floor, which is also the dedicated Club floor, housing the hotel’s other relaxation and wellness facilities.

Complimentary access to the lounge is available for guests who book into Club rooms. There’s a check-in desk and a small lobby, where staff will confirm access to the lounge and can assist with any queries.

The Executive Lounge is rather intimate, with limited seating comprised of a few stylish sofas and armchairs arranged at the centre of the room. The space has a pleasant ambiance, achieved through a tasteful combination of stylish grey decor and strategically placed greenery.

The lounge serves breakfast from 6:30am to 10pm daily, and has an impressive selection of hot and cold dishes on offer. Additionally, the lounge offers all-day refreshments, as well as evening cocktails and evening hors d’oeuvres.

For breakfast, you can choose from lobster dumplings, grilled vegetables, quiche, char kway teow, and chicken congee, among others.

There were also pre-made salads and a cold fridge with yogurts, fruits, and juices.

Additionally, there was a selection of freshly baked pastries, bread, and donuts, as well as dips like hummus, baba ghanoush, and chutney.

Beyond the breakfast spread, the Executive Lounge also offers an à la carte menu featuring a range of breakfast specialties. As an ardent noodle lover, I naturally gravitated toward the wonton noodles, and it did not disappoint.

In terms of the evening spread, I was also impressed by the wide selection of canapés and small bites which ranged from savoury snacks to mini desserts or pastries. Complimentary wine was also on display.

After spending some time in the lounge, I found it to be a delightful spot with a good selection of food and drinks available all day. The hors d’oeuvres spread in the evenings could even serve as a full meal if one went back for seconds or thirds.

I’d also note that the service provided throughout my time in the lounge was exceptional, with several attentive and well-trained staff members always eager to assist.

It’s also worth noting that the lounge has fairly limited seating, although I never saw it getting too crowded in here during my stay.

Four Seasons Singapore – Breakfast

Breakfast is served at the hotel’s all-day dining restaurant, One-Ninety. The restaurant is located on the ground level of the hotel and serves breakfast from 6:30–10:30am.

As part of the hotel’s overall refurbishment project in 2019, One-Ninety underwent a major renovation. The new design mixes traditional and contemporary elements and emphasizes natural light and greenery, with high ceilings, large windows, and plants and green walls throughout the space.

Although I had opted to indulge in the breakfast offerings of the Executive Lounge instead, I stopped by and took some photos of the buffet spread, which looked to be phenomenal.

The breakfast buffet was diverse, with an excellent selection of South East Asian cuisine, ranging from traditional Peranakan dishes, such as chicken ngoh hiang, to a congee station with an impressive number of accompaniments. Additionally, dim sum, fried noodles, and rice were available.

Western breakfast options included classics such as pancakes, bacon, and hash browns, along with pastries, cold cuts, and cheese.

The buffet also had a salad station with an array of vegetables, dressings, and toppings, as well as fresh fruits.

four seasons singapore travel weekly

A separate station was designated for children, offering cereals, donuts, and finger sandwiches.

Four Seasons Singapore – Dining

In addition to the One-Ninety restaurant, One-Ninety Bar is also a popular spot for pre-dinner drinks or a nightcap, with a sophisticated yet relaxed atmosphere. The bar offers a selection of craft cocktails and premium spirits, as well as a small bites menu.

There’s also The Garden Afternoon Tea experience with a selection of sweet and savoury bites, as well as a choice of teas or Champagne .

A highlight of One-Ninety is the lush greenery that surrounds the outdoor terrace, akin to a tranquil oasis in the heart of the city. I met a friend for drinks here in the afternoon, and we really enjoyed the nature-inspired atmosphere.

Nobu  was a new addition to the Four Seasons Singapore that opened in 2022, which is situated on the third level of the hotel. At the helm of the kitchen is Executive Chef Hideki Maeda, a protégé of Nobu Matsuhisa and formerly the Head Chef of Nobu London.

An outdoor garden leads you to the main dining area, decorated with warm tones, soft lighting, and modern furnishings.

The cuisine served at Nobu Singapore is “new-style Japanese,” which blends traditional Japanese techniques with modern and global flavours.

Jiang Nan Chun is the hotel’s traditional Cantonese restaurant located on the ground level of the hotel.

The restaurant boasts a classic Chinese décor with modern touches, featuring dark wood furnishings, elegant chandeliers, and vibrant red and gold accents.

The pool house is brand-new at the property. It’s a peaceful retreat that overlooks the outdoor swimming pool, and is surrounded by vertical green gardens and bathed in soft, natural daylight.

The menu at the Pool House features a range of healthy options, as well as a variety of plant-based dishes made with sustainably sourced ingredients.

Four Seasons Singapore – Other Facilities

The hotel boasts two swimming pools. The main adults-only lap pool is located on level three, while a smaller family pool is located on the rooftop, providing a space for children to splash around.

The main pool was gorgeous and looked like a great spot for lounging or swimming laps. The pool deck is surrounded by lush greenery and dotted with swaying palm trees. Moreover, there are plenty of loungers and umbrellas available for those looking to soak up the sun.

I didn’t manage to get a photo of the family swimming pool, as it was occupied by young families every time I stopped by. However, there aren’t too many hotels with rooftop pools in Singapore (with the Marina Bay Sands and the JW Marriott Singapore South Beach coming to mind as a select few examples), so it’s quite nice that the Four Seasons offers one.

Now let’s talk about the hotel’s fitness centre, situated on level three, which is an absolute showstopper. Indeed, it’s almost certainly one of the most visually beautiful hotel gyms I’ve ever encountered.

The fitness facility is set within a gorgeous greenhouse-inspired space drenched in natural light, exuding a welcoming tropical vibe.

The expansive fitness centre boasts a comprehensive range of top-of-the-line equipment that caters to all fitness needs. Whether you prefer to lift weights or hop on a cardio machine, you’ll find everything you need here, including a dedicated area for free weights, weight machines, treadmills, ellipticals, and stair climbers.

The fitness centre offers plenty of cozy nooks and corners as well, affording ample privacy. You can also cool down in the stylish lounging area, complete with comfy chairs and sofas.

Lastly, the spa looked very impressive in its own right, with a modern and appealing design in keeping with the fitness centre and the rest of the Club floor.

The facility is located on the fourth floor, accessible via a staircase from the Club floor. Treatments can be booked from 9am to 9pm, and steam and sauna facilities are accessible from 8am to 9pm.

The spa has three single treatment rooms, as well as a couple’s room, which is equipped with an ensuite steam shower and hydrotherapy bath.

My time at the Four Seasons Singapore matched my high expectations associated with the Four Seasons brand.

In particular, the level of service provided by the hotel staff was truly top-notch, exemplified by the Executive Lounge staff’s kind gesture of offering me some warm water with a lemon slice and honey when I had mentioned that I wasn’t feeling well.

The hotel offers an impressive variety of dining options, from One-Ninety to Nobu to Jiang Nan Chun, that’s very much worthy of one of Singapore’s top hotels. Moreover, the fitness centre is remarkable, offering a wide range of equipment within a unique greenhouse-inspired design.

Despite this, I did notice that some of the public areas in the hotel were a bit outdated, which could be a potential downside for guests who value modern aesthetics.

My understanding is that there are plans in the works to renovate the public spaces to match the recent guest room refurbishments, which would certainly go a long way towards solidifying the Four Seasons’s standing as a leading hotel in Singapore.

A weekend getaway at Four Seasons Hotel Singapore is nothing short of restorative

By Jesslyn Lye

31 May 2024

With a plethora of conscious dining options, plenty of recreational and entertainment facilities, and a gorgeous space designed with wellness in mind, a stay at Four Seasons Hotel Singapore promises utmost rest and rejuvenation

At Four Seasons Hotel Singapore, wellness is a way of life. It is imbued in every aspect of the hotel, found not just in spa treatments and fitness sessions, but in the very space itself. An oasis in the midst of the city’s bustle, the hotel has a deep understanding of what makes for a restorative stay.

“We embrace wellness by creating a space that encourages our guests to embark on a journey to self-connection, whilst inspiring personal growth and transformation, even when they are on the go,” explains regional vice president and general manager Peter Draminsky.

Nowhere is this more evident than in the hotel’s new wellness space on the third floor. Bringing the outdoors in, Draminsky describes the space as an urban equatorial paradise—one that embraces the lush flora that Singapore is so known for, giving guests the chance to access verdant greenery at any hour of the day. At the centre of the space, new dining space Pool House is drenched in natural light from its full-length windows. Its menu, developed in consultation with an accredited nutritionist, spotlights healthy creations and a wide selection of plant-based fare, using sustainably sourced produce wherever possible.

This same care extends to all of the hotel’s food offerings. Director of food and beverage Tomas Stoila shares, “We see the rise of wellness travel and as such, we aim to offer all our guests the choice of eating and staying well both physically and mentally, regardless of their personal dietary or lifestyle preferences during their time with us. From extensive vegan and vegetarian options to nutritious and plant-forward recipes featuring seasonal produce from trusted local suppliers, the art of living well runs in tandem with our culinary vision of creating nutritious offerings at each of our outlets so that there’s always an option to support a healthy and well-balanced lifestyle for all.”

Over the weekend , in particular, its dining offerings truly shine, with a spectacular weekend brunch at acclaimed Japanese restaurant Nobu, a Taste of Singapore weekend brunch at One-Ninety Restaurant, a Peranakan weekend afternoon tea in collaboration with Michelin-starred restaurant Candlenut at One-Ninety Bar, and classic Cantonese offerings at Jiang-Nan Chun. It is this that makes Four Seasons Hotel Singapore such an ideal choice for a quick restorative getaway —a plethora of incredible conscious dining options, plenty of recreational and entertainment facilities, and a gorgeous space designed with wellness in mind. This is, of course, in addition to the hotel’s luxurious guest rooms and suites.

To conclude, Draminsky shares, “Four Seasons Hotel Singapore provides an urban wellness escape in the heart of the city, and our hotel has introduced these fresh spaces, lifestyle and dining experiences that allow our guests to discover holistic journeys that will bring them on the path to harmony and mindfulness for a healthy mind, spirit, body, and soul.”

Four Seasons Singapore - One Ninety Bar.
