Ladies and gentlemen, that is most certainly how you put on a rock show. – Backseat Mafia

W.A.S.P. are here to provide a good time and to celebrate their legacy, and they do both of these things in spades tonight. – Metal Talk

“When you’re putting on a show as enjoyable as this, it’s no surprise why people keep coming back.” – Moshville

About W.A.S.P. [Text Wrapping Break]Few Bands in the history of Rock N’ Roll have ever incited the love, the hate, the raw emotional effect this Band has had on the world. From the very beginning, in the small venues of Los Angeles California, and later to the numerous countries worldwide that banned these Winged Assassins from performing live, the Band’s unique style of Shock and Rock caused Religious organizations, Local City Councils, Parliaments, and the Washington D.C. Senate to hold hearings in an effort to bar this group from selling records and trashing stages everywhere they played.

The band’s founding member, frontman Blackie Lawless, has led the group as its lead vocalist and primary songwriter since its beginning. His unique brand of visual, social and political comment took the group to worldwide heights and sold millions of records alongside a legacy of sold out shows across the globe for 4 decades.

Joined by bassist Mike Duda and guitarist Doug Blair, whose tenures in the band span 26 and 18 years respectively, along with drummer extraordinaire Aquiles Priester, will take the Band and the Fans back to where it all started. Complete with the stage show extravaganza that many fans never saw live.

Witness Live the Winged Assassins spectacle of “SHOCK and ROLL” as they take you Back…Back to the Beginning!

W.A.S.P. are one of the most enduring glam metal bands of all time. They formed in 1982 and like many of their peers, hail from Los Angeles, California, USA. Their durability comes as much from their shock rock inspired image as it does from their numerous studio albums.

It might be difficult to fathom, but in the L.A Hair metal scene of the 1980’s, W.A.S.P were widely considered “the outrageous ones”. Bear in mind that this is a scene where Mötley Crüe could get in a snorting contest with Ozzy Osbourne ending with Osbourne snorting a line of ants. At the time however, W.A.S.P were the ones considered “mad, bad and dangerous to know”.

W.A.S.P was formed from the ashes of another band called Circus Circus. When they split up the bands guitarists, Blackie Lawless and Randy Piper, wanted to continue playing together. So after Lawless spent a brief period of time playing with Nikki Sixx's band London, the two recruited Rik Fox, and Tony Richards on bass and drums to become W.A.S.P.

However, this first incarnation didn’t last all that long. They released one single, entitled “Animal (F*ck Like A Beast)” which was the beginning of their bad reputation, and then Fox left to play with Yngwie Malmsteen and the replacement bassist also left in short order. This left Lawless to take up the bass and Chris Holmes was drafted in on the lead guitar.

This line up stuck, and by 1984 the band had signed to Capitol Records. Unlike many of their peers W.A.S.P never had the astonishing chart success that the likes of GNR and the Crüe commanded, but their debut album still sold 500,000 copies and their further records sold handsomely while courting no shortage of controversy among parent associations.

Until 1989 that is, when their album “The Headless Children” would stall a number 47 on the Billboard charts and then sail off soon afterwards. Chris Holmes also left the band to be with his wife Lita Ford. The band was in need of some time off, and Lawless began work on a solo album. However, under pressure from both promoters and fans he decided to release the record as a W.A.S.P album. This was, it’s fair to say, a good move.

The resulting record, “The Crimson Idol”, was immediately hailed as the bands best work and the band were back on track. Since then, the bands work has been surprisingly deep for a band whose name is said to stand for “We Are Sexual Perverts”. But everything is more interesting when you look a little closer, and W.A.S.P is no exception. These guys are still on the top of their game, and every metalhead would do well to see them as soon as possible.

Live reviews

While this is the decade that many 80’s bands are celebrating their 30th anniversaries by touring, there aren’t many who can stake the claim of not having stopped recording and touring since their glory days- one such band is W.A.S.P. The West Coast hair-metallers have been going steady since their self-titled debut in 1984, which sealed their place among other LA-originated greats of the era like Guns N’ Roses, Van Halen and Quiet Riot. W.A.S.P are known for their shock-value lyrics and onstage antics, and even 30 years down the line, they don’t appear to have gotten any less tongue-in-cheek provocative, particularly the ever-charismatic frontman, guitarist and keyboardist, Blackie Lawless.

As an 80’s metal nut, I was excited to catch W.A.S.P. on the opening night of their 30th anniversary tour at The Forum in London a couple of years ago, and they pulled out all the stops, delivering a blisteringly epic two-hour set. They focused on some of their classic material in the first two ‘Acts’ of the show, with hits like "L.O.V.E. Machine", "Wild Child", "Hellion", and "Scream Until You Like It" to kick things off, which had the whole black leather-clad crowd jumping and screaming along to every word. The finale of the show was dedicated to more recent work, such as the headbanging "Chainsaw Charlie (Murders in the New Morgue)”, and “Widowmaker”, for which Lawless and bassist Mike Dupke swapped instruments, just like back in the old days. A fun-filled, hair-thrashing show from some of the greats!

Totally awesome show and the band was truly on fire! Blackie Lawless’ voice was in great shape. W.A.S.P. played all the songs from ”The Crimson Idol” album plus a shorter set of hits including ”L.O.V.E. Machine”, ”Wild Child”, ”Golgotha” and ”I Wanna Be Somebody”.

Go and see W.A.S.P. if you have the chance! Totally worth it...worth every penny. Recommended!

If this were a reunion tour, then maybe. But W.A.S.P. as it is now, I’ll pass on it.

How awesome that Blackie Lawless will allow Armored Saint to open the shows and blow his band off the stage every night.

Promoters really sticking there neck out and taking a big risk on this one! Too bad Wendy O. Williams isn’t alive. She would have been a suitable opener. I can’t think of a wasp song I actually care to hear again…

I agree with all the above comments ,plus I hear they are also using tracks and lip syncing –

Robert, you heard correctly…..Blackie does indeed lip sync. I plan to attend a show, but only to see Armored Saint perform.

I would only go to see schenker , I never liked wasp , armored Saint was pretty good , I think the headliner should be schenker think he’s touring with ronnie Romero an awesome and perfect singer to sing those msg and ufo tunes

100% agree rob . Isn`t Romero the guy that sang for Blackmore a few years ago ? Dude has some pipes.

W.A.S.P. Book 40th Anniversary U.S. Tour With Armored Saint

W.A.S.P. will be touring the United States for the first time in a decade this fall as the group, led by guitarist and singer Blackie Lawless , celebrates their 40th anniversary with Armored Saint in tow for the 28 stops.

Formed in 1982, W.A.S.P. came up amid the red hot Los Angeles glam rock/metal scene and stirred up plenty of controversy in their early days, notoriously throwing chunks of raw meat into the crowd. And then there was the whole buzzsaw codpiece Lawless was rather fond of.

The band's sound later branched and they discarded the more shocking elements of their stage show as the lyrical approach became more serious, especially on the standout records  The Headless Children (1989) and  The Crimson Idol (1992), which distanced themselves from the sleazier themes of old.

Lawless temporarily broke the band up for brief periods in the late '80s and early '90s, but W.A.S.P. has since remained active since 1995 amid numerous lineup changes and last released  Golgotha in 2015.

Making an abundance of references to the W.A.S.P. catalog, Lawless said of the upcoming tour, "For over 10 years we have not toured on U.S. soil. But starting Oct. 29th, 2022… we return. 10 years I’d want, 10 years I’ve cussed, 10 years I’d lust to return…. To my home land… and be a Wild Child, a Love Machine, to be Blind in Texas, On Your Knees and Headless. So join me and the band, and very special guests Armored Saint, as we celebrate W.A.S.P 40th Anniversary Tour… Back in the U.S…. Back to the Beginning. I’m gonna scream, cause I wanna feed, cause I wanna bleed, cause I Wanna Be Somebody. W.A.S.P. 40th Anniversary Tour… Back in the US…. Back to the Beginning."

Armored Saint frontman John Bush added, "Armored Saint is totally pumped to be the special guest on the upcoming 40th anniversary tour of W.A.S.P. This tour will take us back to our fond memories of sharing the stage together with W.A.S.P. at the Troubadour in Hollywood where it all began in 1982. We're also excited to be playing tunes from our last record, Punching The Sky , since we haven't done any shows since its release in 2020. Old schoolers, I expect you there! New schoolers, we want you there! It's gonna be a blast!"

The tour stretches from Oct. 29 through Dec. 9 and all the dates can be seen below. Guitar legend Michael Schenker will also join the trek for a few dates in early November, so check listings carefully.

Tickets go on sale on Jan 14 at 3PM here .

NASA’s Webb Maps Weather on Planet 280 Light-Years Away

This artist’s concept shows what the hot gas-giant exoplanet WASP-43 b could look like

This artist’s concept shows what the hot gas-giant exoplanet WASP-43 b could look like. A Jupiter-sized planet roughly 280 light-years away, the planet orbits its star at a distance of about 1.3 million miles, completing one circuit in about 19.5 hours.

Webb’s MIRI instrument, managed through launch by JPL, has illuminated conditions on a planet that’s Jupiter-size but closer to its star than Mercury is to the Sun.

An international team of researchers has successfully used NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope to map the weather on the hot gas-giant exoplanet WASP-43 b.

Precise brightness measurements over a broad spectrum of mid-infrared light, combined with 3D climate models and previous observations from other telescopes, suggest the presence of thick, high clouds covering the nightside, clear skies on the dayside, and equatorial winds upwards of 5,000 miles per hour mixing atmospheric gases around the planet.

The investigation is just the latest demonstration of the exoplanet science now possible with Webb’s extraordinary ability to measure temperature variations and detect atmospheric gases trillions of miles away.

Tidally Locked ‘Hot Jupiter’

WASP-43 b is a “hot Jupiter” type of exoplanet: similar in size to Jupiter, made primarily of hydrogen and helium, and much hotter than any of the giant planets in our own solar system. Although its star is smaller and cooler than the Sun, WASP-43 b orbits at a distance of just 1.3 million miles — less than 1/25th the distance between Mercury and the Sun.

With such a tight orbit, the planet is tidally locked , with one side continuously illuminated and the other in permanent darkness. Although the nightside never receives any direct radiation from the star, strong eastward winds transport heat around from the dayside.

Since its discovery in 2011, WASP-43 b has been observed with numerous telescopes, including NASA’s Hubble and now-retired Spitzer space telescopes.

“With Hubble , we could clearly see that there is water vapor on the dayside. Both Hubble and Spitzer suggested there might be clouds on the nightside,” explained Taylor Bell, researcher from the Bay Area Environmental Research Institute and lead author of a study published today in Nature Astronomy . “But we needed more precise measurements from Webb to really begin mapping the temperature, cloud cover, winds, and more detailed atmospheric composition all the way around the planet.”

Data from the Mid-Infrared Instrument

Data from the Mid-Infrared Instrument on NASA’s Webb telescope shows the changing brightness of the WASP-43 star and planet system. The system appears brightest when the hot dayside of the planet is facing the telescope, and grows dimmer as the planet’s nightside rotates into view.

Mapping Temperature and Inferring Weather

Although WASP-43 b is too small, dim, and close to its star for a telescope to see directly, its short orbital period of just 19.5 hours makes it ideal for phase curve spectroscopy , a technique that involves measuring tiny changes in brightness of the star-planet system as the planet orbits the star.

Since the amount of mid-infrared light given off by an object depends largely on how hot it is, the brightness data captured by Webb can then be used to calculate the planet’s temperature.

The team used Webb’s MIRI (Mid-Infrared Instrument) to measure light from the WASP-43 system every 10 seconds for more than 24 hours. “By observing over an entire orbit, we were able to calculate the temperature of different sides of the planet as they rotate into view,” explained Bell. “From that, we could construct a rough map of temperature across the planet.”

The measurements show that the dayside has an average temperature of nearly 2,300 degrees Fahrenheit (1,250 degrees Celsius) — hot enough to forge iron. Meanwhile, the nightside is significantly cooler at 1,100 degrees Fahrenheit (600 degrees Celsius). The data also helps locate the hottest spot on the planet (the “hotspot”), which is shifted slightly eastward from the point that receives the most stellar radiation, where the star is highest in the planet’s sky. This shift occurs because of supersonic winds, which move heated air eastward.

“The fact that we can map temperature in this way is a real testament to Webb’s sensitivity and stability,” said Michael Roman, a co-author from the University of Leicester in the U.K.

To interpret the map, the team used complex 3D atmospheric models like those used to understand weather and climate on Earth. The analysis shows that the nightside is probably covered in a thick, high layer of clouds that prevent some of the infrared light from escaping to space. As a result, the nightside — while very hot — looks dimmer and cooler than it would if there were no clouds.

This set of maps shows the temperature of the visible side of the hot gas-giant exoplanet WASP-43 b

This set of maps shows the temperature of the visible side of the hot gas-giant exoplanet WASP-43 b as it orbits its star. The temperatures were calculated based on more than 8,000 brightness measurements by Webb’s MIRI (the Mid-Infrared Instrument).

Missing Methane and High Winds

The broad spectrum of mid-infrared light captured by Webb also made it possible to measure the amount of water vapor (H2O) and methane (CH4) around the planet. “Webb has given us an opportunity to figure out exactly which molecules we’re seeing and put some limits on the abundances,” said Joanna Barstow, a co-author from the Open University in the U.K.

The spectra show clear signs of water vapor on the nightside as well as the dayside of the planet, providing additional information about how thick the clouds are and how high they extend in the atmosphere.

Need Some Space?

Surprisingly, the data also shows a distinct lack of methane anywhere in the atmosphere. Although the dayside is too hot for methane to exist (most of the carbon should be in the form of carbon monoxide), methane should be stable and detectable on the cooler nightside.

“The fact that we don’t see methane tells us that WASP-43 b must have wind speeds reaching something like 5,000 miles per hour,” explained Barstow. “If winds move gas around from the dayside to the nightside and back again fast enough, there isn’t enough time for the expected chemical reactions to produce detectable amounts of methane on the nightside.”

The team thinks that because of this wind-driven mixing, the atmospheric chemistry is the same all the way around the planet, which wasn’t apparent from past work with Hubble and Spitzer.

The MIRI observation of WASP-43 b was conducted as part of the Webb Early Release Science programs, which are providing researchers with a vast set of robust, open-access data for studying a wide array of cosmic phenomena.

Avril Lavigne

Set for a June 21 release, 'Avril Lavigne - Greatest Hits' features 20 fan favourites from across the Canadian star's two-decade career, accompanying her upcoming headline tour.

A Canadian music icon is releasing her first ever greatest hits album.

Avril Lavigne, the skater girl from Napanee, ON who went on to sell fifty million records worldwide, will release a double LP of 20 fan favourites on June 21, titled Avril Lavigne — Greatest Hits.

The album – are already available for pre-order in CD and digital formats – features some of the most iconic songs of her illustrious 20-year career, from classics like "Complicated" and “Sk8er Boi”off her chart-topping 2002 debut album Let Go , to “Bite Me” and “Bois Lie” (featuring Machine Gun Kelly) from her seventh studio album Love Sux. The special release also includes the 2007 single "Girlfriend," which took Lavigne to the top of the Billboard Hot 100.

To make the announcement, Lavigne donned her Complicated-era tie and tank top, a look that influenced every Canadian growing up in the 2000s.

Given that Lavigne is one of Canada's most recognizable stars of the 21st century, with eight Grammy nominations and ten Juno Awards to her name, it's almost surprising that she doesn't already have a greatest hits compilation. The Canadian superstar will kick off her celebratory era with a live performance at the 59th Academy of Country Music Awards on May 16, ahead of a headlining tour this summer. She’ll perform with New Male Artist of the Year nominee Nate Smith.

Her Greatest Hits headline tour kicks off on May 22 at Vancouver’s Rogers Arena, before making its way down to the US. Lavigne will then come back north of the border to six more Canadian cities, including performances at both Scotiabank Arena and Budweiser Stage in Toronto.

Ten fascinating Webb discoveries that Canada has helped make

On December 25, 2021 , the James Webb Space Telescope launched into space. During its one-month journey to its destination, its mobile parts were deployed one by one. Then, Webb settled its temperature and fine-tuned its tools. Six months later, the science party started!

With Canada's Near Infrared Imager and Slitless Spectrograph (NIRISS) instrument and researchers involved, Webb is changing how we understand space. Discover some of this powerful telescope's amazing findings in which Canada played a key role .

Galaxies and stars

1. redshift revelations: unlocking cosmic distances.

Thousands of galaxies flood this near-infrared image of galaxy cluster SMACS 0723

Discovery from Webb's First Deep Field ! As light travels through our expanding universe, it is stretched into longer wavelengths, meaning that it is moving along the spectrum of light to appear more red. This is known as "redshift." It helps astronomers figure out how far things are, how old they are, and how they change over time. Thanks to NIRISS on Webb, a team of Canadian and international astronomers led by Dr.   Gaël Noirot , a postdoctoral researcher at Saint Mary's University in Halifax, hit the jackpot, revealing the redshifts of 190 cosmic sources, which are all galaxies. And guess what? 123 of these sources did not previously have a known redshift.

The team also spotted three galaxy overdensities, or groups of galaxies that seem clustered together, that were invisible in previous data. It's like opening a treasure chest of secrets from the universe!

2. Investigating ancient star clusters

Sparkler Galaxy

In the beautiful image of Webb's First Deep Field, scientists studied a faraway galaxy nicknamed the Sparkler. They used Webb's data to look at celestial "sparkles" around this galaxy, made brighter by a group of galaxies acting like a cosmic magnifying glass. These sparkles, also called globular clusters, have a red colour because they are mostly filled with older, red stars.

Researchers from the Canada-led CANUCS collaboration, with the first authors being Lamiya A. Mowla and Kartheik Iyer from the University of Toronto, found these sparkles using spectroscopic data from the Canadian NIRISS instrument aboard Webb. Because these clusters don't appear to be actively forming any stars, they are likely quite old. And because they have been observed at a time when the universe was only about 4 billion years old, they could be some of the first globular clusters ever formed! More study of these sparkles could change how we think these clusters form and give us insight into the early universe.

3. Unveiling the mysteries of spiral galaxies

NGC 7496 – MIRI

A team of researchers, including Hamid Hassani and Erik Rosolowsky from the University of Alberta, identified and classified 1271 21-micron sources in four nearby galaxies, including NGC 7496 shown in the image above. These sources, which appear as bright spots in space, each have a unique story and can be different things such as background galaxies and dusty stars. Most spots are groups of newborn stars, some as young as 2 million years old!

With the Webb Telescope, researchers studied 19 spiral galaxies, discovering more about how they formed and evolved. It's like peeking into bustling neighbourhoods in outer space, just like a cosmic census!

4. Red patterns in the cosmos: a galactic revelation

Galaxy pair VV 191 includes near-infrared light from Webb, and ultraviolet and visible light from Hubble

In the dance of galaxies, space dust does two things: it hides starlight and helps new stars form. Scientists, including an astronomer from the NRC Herzberg Astronomy and Astrophysics Research Centre, armed with the Hubble and Webb Telescopes, explored the VV  191 galaxy pair. These two galaxies are not actually actively interacting, but they appear as overlapping. As one galaxy, VV  191a, lit up its spiral companion VV  191b, beautiful patterns emerged, colouring the cosmos in vibrant reds.

In addition to being beautiful, galaxy VV  191a acts as a huge magnifying glass. It helped scientists spot distant galaxies, making them much brighter than they would otherwise appear. This research not only revealed some secrets of dust in space, but also gave us a rare glimpse at distant galaxies that lay hidden until now.

5. Mass of a dying star's progenitor

Side-by-side comparison shows observations of the Southern Ring Nebula in near-infrared light, at left, and mid-infrared light, at right, from the Webb Telescope. (Credit: NASA / ESA / CSA / STScI )

Ever heard of cosmic ghosts? Well, planetary nebulae are basically just that. They're like souvenirs from stars that are retiring. Scientists, including astronomers Jan Cami and Els Peeters from Western University and Sun Kwok from the University of British Columbia, used Webb to peek at one planetary nebula called NGC  3132, or the Southern Ring Nebula. Guess what they found! Complex shells made of gas and dust and a red dusty disk hugging the recently retired star at the centre of the nebula. The beautiful patterns in the shells were probably caused by interactions between the dying star and several companion stars orbiting it close by.

This nebula's central star system involved not one, not two, but possibly up to five stars! By combining observations and computer models, researchers estimated that the dead star originally weighed 2.86 times more than our Sun.

6. Maisie's Galaxy: a glimpse into the early universe

Maisie's Galaxy

Scientists found Maisie's Galaxy, a super-old galaxy that likely sprang into existence 390 million years after the Big Bang – way before dinosaurs roamed Earth. This distant galaxy's exceptional redshift marks it as a unique window into the past, providing valuable insights into the early stages of galaxy formation and evolution.

Exoplanets' atmospheres

7. wasp-96 b's atmosphere unveiled with niriss.

In June 2022, Webb obtained data on the exoplanet WASP-96 b 's atmosphere using the Canadian instrument NIRISS . Scientists, including Canadian astronomers from the Trottier Institute for Research on Exoplanets (iREx) at the Université de Montréal and McGill University, used the Single Object Slitless Spectroscopy ( SOSS ) mode of NIRISS for transmission spectroscopy observations, further deepening our knowledge of WASP-96 b . Turns out this distant planet, first discovered in 2014 , has a clear sky, indicating that there are likely no clouds. They discovered that the planet has a metal-rich atmosphere, with a metallicity between 1 and 5 times that of our Sun, and a carbon-to-oxygen ratio similar to the Sun, providing important clues about WASP-96 b 's atmospheric composition. Webb's Early Release Observations ( ERO ) program played an important role in this observation of the hot-Saturn type exoplanet.

8. Exploring TRAPPIST-1 b's enigmatic atmosphere

Artist rendering of the hot rocky exoplanet TRAPPIST-1 b

This illustration shows what the hot rocky exoplanet TRAPPIST-1 b could look like. It is based on data gathered by the James Webb Space Telescope's Mid-Infrared Instrument (MIRI) as well as previous observations from other ground- and space-based telescopes. (Credits: NASA , ESA , CSA , Joseph Olmsted ( STScI ))

Scientists are closely studying the TRAPPIST-1 system, which has seven Earth-sized planets around a Jupiter-sized star. A research team, led by Olivia Lim from iREx at the Université de Montréal , used Webb to observe the exoplanet TRAPPIST-1 b . Astronomers have examined its atmosphere using the Canadian instrument NIRISS , and their findings revealed new insights about its properties.

Unfortunately, the researchers detected stellar contamination in the observed data. Because the star has features on its surface, like darker regions called starspots and brighter regions called faculae, it causes variations in brightness that make it hard to see the transmission spectrum – the light that passes through the planet's atmosphere and gives information on what it's made of. So yes, more observations are needed to better understand this planet, but as Webb continues its mission, there might be exciting discoveries ahead that could help us understand mysteries of exoplanets' atmospheres!

9. Uncovering ultra-hot Jupiter's secrets

An artistic representation depicting the exoplanet WASP-18 b

To learn about ultra-hot Jupiter-like planets exceeding 2,000 kelvin (about 1,725 degrees Celsius), Webb is working hard to uncover the mysteries hidden in their atmospheres. With the help of the Canadian instrument NIRSS, a team of researchers, including Canadian authors from iREx , Louis-Philippe Coulombe , Björn Benneke, Caroline Piaulet , Michael Radica and Pierre-Alexis Roy , discovered new details about the hot giant planet, WASP-18 b . As it turns out, the exoplanet captures a kind of heat pattern from the sunny side of the gas giant planet that we didn't know about before.

The research models that help us understand this cosmic puzzle revealed interesting findings: it gets warmer higher up in the atmosphere; molecules break into smaller pieces due to absorbing energy; the planet's atmosphere receives lots of heavy elements from the star; and there's more oxygen compared to carbon. As a bonus, we get a map showing how hot it gets on the sunny side, with the highest temperature at the point that faces the star. It gives us a clearer picture of how extreme this exoplanet's environment is.

10. K2-18 b: Exploring the potential for life

Artist's concept of exoplanet K2-18 b

This artist's concept shows what exoplanet K2-18 b could look like based on science data. K2-18 b , an exoplanet 8.6 times as massive as Earth. (Credits: NASA , ESA , CSA , Joseph Olmsted ( STScI ))

After the historic 2019 discovery led by a Canadian team from the Université de Montréal revealing water vapour and clouds on an exoplanet in the habitable zone, exoplanet K2-18b is back in the spotlight. About three years later, thanks to the Canadian instrument NIRISS on Webb, a new discovery was made about this exoplanet, which is approximately 8.6 times the mass of Earth.

It revealed the presence of molecules than contain carbon, specifically methane and carbon dioxide, in its atmosphere. This discovery aligns with previous studies suggesting that K2-18 b could be a Hycean exoplanet. Hycean combines the words "hydrogen" and "ocean," indicating that this exoplanet might have a hydrogen-rich atmosphere and a surface that could be covered by an ocean. The presence of both hydrogen and water and the fact that K2-18 b is in the habitable zone of its star could mean that its environment supports life. However, some researchers have introduced the possibility of an alternative interpretation for this exoplanet. Some argue for a mini-Neptune-type classification for several reasons, including the fact that it would be the simplest explanation. To be continued!
