DAY 1 : : Pick Up and Transfer to Tabakoshi and Mirik Sightseeing

Day 2 : : transfer to lepchajagat and pasupati sightseeing, day 3 : : transfer to dawaipani via ghoom, day 4 : : transfer to chatakpur and sightseeing, day 5 : : drop to new jalpaiguri (njp) / bagdogra airport (ixb).

INCLUSION Details

• Meet & Greet upon arrival at Airport / NJP StationHotel Accommodation as per the name mentioned in the Category for duration as mentioned in the itinerary.
• All applicable Transfers & Sightseeing by NON AC vehicle which will not be at disposal and will be exclusively used for the group as per the itinerary only (on point to point basis).
• This vehicle will also change sector wise.

EXCLUSION Details

• Government GST as applicable (as on date 01/07/2017 it is 05%)
• Cost for extra usage of vehicle, other than scheduled & mentioned in the itinerary.
• Cost for optional Tours, Up-gradation Charges, Guide, Sightseeing entrance fees.
• Cost for any other service not mentioned under the "Cost Includes" Head
• Cost for Airfare, Train fare, Insurance.
• Cost for any increase in taxes or fuel price, leading to change in package cost, which may come into effect prior to departure
• Additional cost arising due to mishaps, political unrest, natural calamities like - landslides, road blockage, etc. In such case extra will have to be paid on the spot by the guest directly.
• Personal expenses such as laundry, bottled water, soft drinks, incidentals, porter charges, tips etc.

TERMS & CONDITIONS

Please note as per the Government Rule, in 01 Tata Sumo / Hard Top Jeep only 08 heads are allowed that is including child. In 01 INNOVA only 06 heads are allowed that is including child. Incase the number of heads traveling increases above 08 in a Tata Sumo / Hard Top Jeep & 06 in an Innova than the guest will have to opt for the 2nd (second) vehicle for which the cost is mentioned above.

Incase the guest is opting for INNOVA as per the unwritten syndicate rule; INNOVA will do the main transfer & sightseeing of Kalimpong & Darjeeling only. Lachung & Pelling sightseeing will be done by NON AC Tata Sumo / Mahindra Maxx / Hard Top vehicle which may have front / side facing seat. Gangtok sightseeing will be done by NON AC Maruti Van / Similar (one vehicle for every 04 paying Pax). Also while opting for INNOVA please inform the guest to travel light with minimum baggage of one piece per person. In case of excess baggage the guest will have to opt for an extra vehicle for carrying the excess baggage. The cost for this will be collected directly from the guest.

Process Of Making Advance Payment

50 % of the total package cost must be deposited as an advance in our company's account to confirm the package. Remaining 50 % of the package cost will be collected on arrival (First day of the Tour).

Customers must carry the issued confirmation letter on their trip as it contains important information like confirmed hotel, Cab Details and Service contact Numbers.

PROCESS OF MAKING ADVANCE PAYMENT:

Payments can be be done through our website www.akkcrusier.com by using Net banking/Credit Card/Debit Card and Wallets via EBS, CC-Avenue, , Paytm, Atom etc.

EMI OPTIONS ARE ALSO AVAILABLE IN OUR GATEWAYS:

CANCELLATION & REFUND POLICY:

There is no contract between AKK CRUSIER and the client until the company has received initial deposit amount of specified tour package.

In case, customer wishes to cancel his/her booking before 15 days of the travel date because of whatsoever reasons, including accident, sickness, or any other personal reasons, non-payment of the balance payment, the Company is liable to recover Cancellation charges from the Client. All the cancellations must be communicated in written.

Advance amount 50% is also non-refundable in case the cancellation is done within 15 days of the travel dates or No Show scenarios.

The Company deserves the right to change the package cost depending on the economical status of the market as per the Government policy.

Services will be provided to the customers as mentioned in the booking voucher only.

Any complimentary services (If not provided) cannot be claimed in form of cash or alternative service.AKK CRUSIER have the right to cancel your Invoice due to insufficient Advance Amount i.e. 50% of the total tour Package Cost. 

AMENDMENT POLICY (PREPONE & POSTPONE):

In case client wishes to prepone /postpone his or her travel dates, we request you to kindly reach us 15 days prior to journey date via e-mail.

The customers can prepone /postpone their tour once without any additional charges (if intimated before 15 days of travel date in written). However postponing & preponing second time will attract additional charges.

Also note that few service providers (Hoteliers, Transporter etc.) may apply postpone/prepone charges even after meeting above requirement. In such cases postpone/prepone charges will deducted from the advance amount deposited.

In all prepone or postpone scenarios, the services and the costing will be subject to availability of Hotel/Tranasprotation and season/off season time.

We do not accept any changes in plan within 15 days of travel date. However in rare cases like adverse climatic conditions or strikes, package can be postponed which will be intimated to you beforehand.

The validity to utilize your Advance payment in prepone/postpone scenarios is 1 Year from the date of advance payment.

The advance payment and the invoice Number allotted to you, are transferable i.e. you can pass on your booking to any of your friends/ relatives. (Please Note: In order to transfer your booking you must meet the above terms and conditions first).

Day 3-Sittong to Lepchajagat 65km & Visit Jorpokhri & Ghum Monastery

Morning Transfer to Lepchajagat (Distance 65km take arround 2.30hrs). Lepchajagat is a small village located in wilderness at an altitude of 6,956 ft and only 19kms away from Darjeeling hill town.

One of the offbeat destinations close to Darjeeling is Dawaipani. A name that doesn’t ring a bell as it is one of those hidden gems that have barely been explored. Nestled in the foothills of the Darjeeling Town, it is a heavenly abode for the nature lovers. The term “Dawaipani” denotes “Medicated water” and history foretells how the village got its name from the nearest river that passes by, named the “Khola”. There is no escape than going back again and again to the hills once you have set your heart to it. Stay Dawaipani Homestay is one such place, an idyllic picturesque location that offers 180-degree view of the mighty Kanchenjunga. Sitting pretty at an elevation of 6500 ft, the place also boasts of the abundance of thick dense green foliage that plays peekaboo with the lofty snow-clad peaks. Day 01: NJP Railway Station / Bagdogra Airport to Dawaipani + Dawaipani Local Sightseeing Welcome on arrival at New Jalpaiguri Railway Station or Bagdogra Airport and transfer to Dawaipani. Check-in into your homestay or resort. After freshen up proceed for local sightseeing. Visit either one of the nearby tea estates, viz. Lamahatta Tea Estate (8.6 kms) or the Takdah Tea Estate (15.2 kms). Enjoy the lush greenery around and be witness to the serene backdrop that offers stunning picture postcard photos. Later stroll around the Dawaipani forest that is thickly wooded and gaze around the wide variety of migratory and Himalayan birds. Further proceed to visit one of the local vegetables and fruit farms in Dawaipani. Later return back to resort / homestay. Overnight at Dawaipani Homestay.

Day 02: Dawaipani to Lepchajagat + Lepchajagat Local Sightseeing

Transfer from Dawaipani Homestay to Lepchajagat (23kms / 1 hr). Check-in into your homestay or resort. After freshen up proceed for local sightseeing at Lepchajagat. Visit Ghum Rock followed by Jorpokhri. Ghum Rock is located at a stone’s throw distance from Lepchajagat of 1.5 kms. Ghum Rock sits atop 7,900 ft and offers pristine views of the Balsan valley beneath. The place is famed for being a sunrise point. Jorpokhri is located barely 5 kms from Lepchajagat and boasts of picturesque views of the Kanchenjunga. The place also has a pond and is famed for spotting rare breed of Himalayan Salamanders. Also visit a local shiva temple in the vicinity. Ghoom Monastery is another noted place that is located at a distance of 10 kms. The monastery follows the Gelukpa sect and is recognized for the towering fifteen feet statue of Lord Buddha. Pashupati Market is 15 kms away from Lepchajagat and lies on the Indo-Nepal border where tourists flung for shopping. For visiting the local market on the Nepalese side of the border one has to hire a local cab. Since Indian tourist vehicles are not permitted inside. Also, if time permits, visit the Mirik Lake. Later return back to resort / homestay. Overnight at Lepchajagat. Day 03: Lepchajagat to Taba Koshi Transfer from Lepchajagat to Taba Koshi (19 kms / 1 hr). The term “Taba Koshi” has been derived from local Nepali language where “Tamba” stands for copper while “Koshi” stands for river. Thus, the name “Tamba Koshi” or “Taba Koshi” since the place owes its scenic settings to the mountainous river that flows by the town, the river “Rangbhang”. Check-in into resort / homestay. Proceed for local sightseeing after freshen up. Visit the river “Rangbhang”. The beautiful views amidst the lap of nature transfers you into a surreal world. After spending some time proceed to visit the Vishnu & Shiva Temples in Taba Koshi. Do take time out to visit the Taba Koshi Park that boasts of carved out pathways that allows one to take walk amidst the lush lawns. Taba Koshi boasts of two tea factories, visit the tea factory of Gopal Dhara. Further also visit a local ginger farm. Also try your hands at fishing (subject to availability at local homestay). Chatakpur - The Snowy Hamlet

Chatakpur is a pristine eco-friendly village which came into limelight very recently. And since then, the popularity of Chatakpur is going high like hot cake, because of it's obvious reasons behind it. Chaktakpur is one such village where people would love to settle down to embrace the nature. Chatakpur being a hilltop situated just at the opposite of Tiger Hill offers unobstructed view of the whole range of Kanchenjungha that too right from your window which even Tiger Hill fails to offer. Rumours are that, the views of Kanchenjungha from Chatakpur are much better than that of Tiger Hill. And yes that's true. As I said already, Chatakpur offers unobstructed view of whole range of Kanchenjungha right from your window! I had no idea till I was right there experiencing the nature's wonder.

So here's our Itinerary which we are following...

26th Dec - Day 1 : NJP - Lepchajagat

27th Dec - Day 2 : Lepchajagat

28th Dec - Day 3 : Lepchajagat - Chatakpur

29th Dec - Day 4 : Chatakpur

30th Dec - Day 5 : Chatakpur - Darjeeling

28th Dec - Day 3 : Lepchajagat - Chatakpur :

I woke up at around 4:00 AM and unfortunately it was another cloudy morning with no views. But today being our last day at Lepchajagat, I thought of paying a visit to sunrise point, although I was sure there'd be no glimpse of Kanchenjunga.

A bit lazily I got ready, asked my wife if she'd like to accompany me, but as expected, she's a sloth bear anyway! So I went ahead myself. There were few other tourists too who came up at such wee hours of the morning with a hope same as mine. There was a old women from the village too, selling Tea's at such chilled weather, trying to make some money. Yes, it feels very sad to see such old ladies taking up so much pain to earn few bucks to make their living in these villages.

I light up a ciggerate to keep myself warm, although I was very doubtful, as Tea and Ciggerate can be a deadly combination for me considering I'm not yet done with my morning chores! However things seemed to be fine!

Saw few people fell like being first time in the skating ring! Unfortunately the ground was completely slippery because of the dew's from last night being completely frost. As the time passed by, gradually, it became a hell of a skating ground.

Meanwhile a bunch of tourists started shouting mistaken by the clouds with that of Kanchenjungha. However their excitement broke soon as people around them quickly corrected them out!

Finally after spending around more than an hour or so, I came back. Soon we were served Bed Tea. Later after packing our belongings, we got ready. Went ahead to the shop for having momo for one last time! Soon we were served breakfast as well.

Finally after bidding everyone goodbye, we started for our next destination - Chatakpur. Mr. Tamang arranged a vehicle for the journey. We already had a word with Barsha Ji - Owner of our shelter today - Akriti Homestay. She asked me to make her speak with the driver when we start for Chatakpur and she'll guide him about the route.

One can reach Chatakpur through 3 ways - viz. (1) Via Sonada, (2) via 3rd Mile - Through Senchal Forest, (3) via Dilaram. Unfortunately the route through Dilaram is not recommended considering the worst condition of the road. The route through Sonada is the easiest and shortest way to reach Chatakpur, but one is expected to go through a steep walk to reach the village. Considering the condition of my mother, Barsha Ji recommended to take the route via 3rd Mile - which is a little bit longer but easier. Although you are expected to walk for 10-15 mins from the point where vehicle drops you (as the road further is still work in progress) however it's not much steep and is more easier. Also the route through 3rd Mile, goes through Senchal Forest, which is an exciting journey altogether itself. The village - Chatakpur itself comes under Senchal Wildlife Sanctuary in Darjeeling district.

It took us around one and a half hour to reach Chatakpur. Barsha Ji already informed us to call her up while at 3rd Mile, as she'd be waiting for us there at the drop point accordingly, because she informed us that once we enter Senchal Wildlife Sanctuary, we'd be going off the network. When we reached there, she and her husband was already waiting for us.

Noticing us, they both came forward, and after a breif introduction, they welcomed us to their village. Her Husband - Bikas Ji, took up all the heavy luggages and went ahead, while Barsha Ji held up my mother, providing her support to walk through the rest of the route.

We were still mid-way to her homestay, when we noticed the sky turning it to be grey and cloudy followed by a loud rumbling after a lightning flash. Barsha ji exclaimed " Shayad barish ane wala hai, jaldi chaliye " (It might start raining soon, please hurry). Soon we noticed few hailstones on our jackets. We were so excited to experience it. If I remember correctly, I last experienced hailstrom when I was kid.

Without wasting much time, we hurried up, as Barsha ji was tensed with my mother if it starts raining badly. Well, fortunately nothing like that happened and we reached her homestay safely.

We were settled in our rooms. The rooms were really spacious, clean and well maintained. My dad was really glad that they provided us room heaters in both the rooms. Considering their age, it really meant a lot to them at such climate. Barsha Ji came up and asked us whether we'd like to have some tea and we being addicted to tea, we couldn't say no!

And then, I must say the rest is history. This day of 28th of December in 2018 became the most memorable and luckiest day for us (and the other tourists who were there) at Darjeeling district.

Suddenly, thunders exploded and then the hailstrom started drumming on the roof like large marbles. The roof being made of tins, we just loved the rumbling sound of the hailstorms. We being the only guests, pulled up our chairs in the balcony. Soon Barsha Ji came up with 4 Tibetian Tea Cups! She seems to be excited too! She further informed us that, if it rains like this throughout the night, then tomorrow the glimpse of Kanchenjungha is a sure thing!

She further said " Shayad snowfall hone wala hai aj, chance bahut jyada hai " (We might experience snowfall today, the chances are very high). She also informed us that, the people in the hills consider snowfall as a lucky charm, as they believe if it' snows during the the beginning of harvesting year, they would have a very good quality crops growing up and thus it's a very good year in terms of farming.

Later around 1:30 PM we were called up for a lunch and unfortunately the hailstorm too came to halt by that time. We were served steaming hot Rice, Dal, Bhaji, Sabji and Egg Curry along with Papad. I must say, the meals was simply fingerlicking and felt heavenly. If you were expecting simple yet tasty home-cooked food, you'd feel right at home.

Although we planned to go for a walk around the village, however considering the weather, it seemed to be a bad idea. Instead we pulled up chairs in the balcony. However considering the chilled weather, we couldn't spent much time there. So we thought of hitting the bed for a quick afternoon nap.

Later around in the afternoon, it started again - the thunders rattled the windowpane and hail pounded on the roof! We really couldn't hold back ourselves back in the bed, so we went ahead in the balcony. It went for an hour or so and suddenly the rattling sound of hailstorm stopped, however we could still see those particles, now in more density, in front of our eyes falling down from the sky!

Believe me, for a minute, we really couldn't understand what was really hapenning. Soon Barsha Ji came up running and exclaimed " Sir, snowfall! ". Ohh my god, we couldn't believe our eyes! It's not like we were experiencing snowfall for the first time, I have experienced it myself at Kedarnath and at Bhutan previously. But seriously? In North Bengal? Are we that much lucky?

My mom belongs from Kurseong, so I have always heard stories of snowfall in Darjeeling, but experiencing it myself, that too now in the present era, it seemed to be far from reality. But today, it felt like nature have crossed it's boundaries!

We all started exclaiming with joy! I really don't know what to say! I'm out of my vocabulary here to express my feelings! Yes it was the most memorable, historical and luckiest day for us! Suparna couldn't hold back herself, and went ahead outside and asked me to click her pictures!

While in the evening, we were provided Tea and Onion Pakodas! It continued for around 8:30 PM in the evening. Later when it came to halt, the local kids went outside and started playing! While the adults on the other hand, went ahead and started making snowman around the homestay! It felt like we were in heaven!

We took few shots and a small video clip and WhatsApp'ed it across to our family members and friends! Soon we were bombarded with calls and messages asking where is this place! Barsha Ji in the mean-time came up with chicken clear soup and provided to us saying " Considering this situation today, it's complimentary! "

We couldn't realize how time passed by and finally we were called up for dinner! The menu was same as lunch except in place of Egg Curry we were served Chicken Curry instead - the common menu across all the homestays in North Bengal and Sikkim!

After a stumptous meal, we chit-chatted for a while with Barsha Ji and finally we called off the day and hit the bed.

29th Dec - Day 4 : Chatakpur :

It was around 5 O' Clock in the morning, when my dad knocked my door and asked us to come out! The glorious Kanchenjungha was right in front of us without any obstruction disturbing our views.

We pulled up chairs in the balcony to experience the Sunrise. It started at around 5:30 AM when we first noticed the tip of Kanchenjugha turned reddish yellow!

It's not the first time (neither the last time, I wish) that we were experiencing Sunrise over Kanchenjugha, but everytime we feel the same excitement within us! It always feels special to experience the Sunrise over Kanchenjungha than anywhere else. And this time, it was very special and unique. Well, the ground is completely covered with snow and right behind the same it was the glorious Kanchenjungha!

In the meanwhile Barsha Ji came up with Tea. And I must say the show continued over the cup of Tea!

Later Me and My Dad decided to walk up to the viewpoint. It's hardly a 10 mins wak from the homestay, but considering everything being covered up with snow, it's very risky and doubtful! And as the Sun would start going up, the same would start melting and it can turn out to be another adventure!

Although my mom asked us to refrain from trying that out, but considering my dad's physical fitness even at that age, he was very confident! Somehow I managed to reach the viewpoint with Dad's help! In between we both gathered a piece stick to help us balance through the path.

I hardly noticed any tourist up there at the viewpoint! It seems like, most people decided to exeprience the sunrise from the vicinity of their room! Well I told you before, you can experience everything right from your window. Else if you want to have a 360 degree view, you can always walk up to the view point!

As I already mentioned before, one of the speciality of Chatakpur is, you can have a glimpse of entire range of Kanchenjugha not only the Mt. Kanchenjugha itself.

Finally after spending some time there, we came back. Later we were served Breakfast. Instead of sitting at the dining hall, we decided to pull up chairs at the courtyard, enjoying our meals sitting right in front of Kanchenjungha!

The snow started melting gradually, and things started getting sliperry! The kids took up this opportunity to use the same as their skating gound!

Later, Mr. Saimon - Brother of Barsha Ji came up to pay her a visit. He took up his nephew and niece to play with snow. I followed along (carefully!) to get some candid shots!

Later at around 2:00 PM, we were called up for Lunch. Post lunch, we planned to go for a walk to Senchal Lake, but considering the village being turned into a skating ground, Barsha Ji advised us against the same.

I planned to have a small afternoon nap post lunch, but rest of them went to the courtyard to enjoy the warmth of Sun, as the rooms anyways were freezing! Well, it was a lazy afternoon! We sat there, doing nothing, discussing various things most of it having no context, to kill time! However the warmth of Sun felt nice in this chilled temperature!

Later in the evening, we were served Tea and Pakoda. Barsha Ji too joined us for chit-chat after she was done preparing our dinners. The rest of the evening was mostly uneventful - which is common across almost all the remote / offbeat destinations!

Finally at around 9:00 PM we were called up for Dinner and post that we called off the day and hit the bed.

30th Dec - Day 5 : Chatakpur - Darjeeling :

The day started with the first ray of light over the glorious Mt. Kanchenjungha!

And the show continued for a while!

Later we were served breakfast. Today our plans was to move to Darjeeling. Barsha Ji had already arranged a vehicle for us. In this short span of time, we completely fell in love with Chatakpur and specially with our wonderful host - Barsha Rai and her family!

With promises to be in touch and come back soon again, we bidded her and her family goodbye and started for Darjeeling!

Points To Remember : If you are planning to visit Chatakpur, please remember few points

Always have your reservation / booking. Chatakpur being very remote village, is a destination, run by around 15 families throughout the village. So as you can guess, the accommodation is very limited here. So book well in advance and try not to land up out of the blue. As most of the time it's either completely booked or they do not have enough stock to serve your. Chatakpur is a eco-friendly village and the villagers intends to continue the same (except 1-2 people who have been lured by money). I'd request you to help Chatakpur keep up to it. Else that day is not far, when it's going to be another Darjeeling Do not plan during 15th June 15th - 15th September. Chatakpur is within the Senchal Forest, and consdiering the monsoon, landslide and breeding season of various birds and animals, it's closed during that period. Well as the locals informed us, Chatakpur have experienced this kind of snowfall almost after 11 Years. So in my case (along with all the tourists who were there in Darjeeling on that day) it was a matter of luck. So you really cannot plan based on snow. Even the very next day, a lot of tourists rushed into Darjeeling by the news of snowfall, they could although see snow here and there which took a day or two to melt, but nothing more than that. Experiencing Snowfall in North Bengal is really something once in a decade.

Akriti Homestay : We booked this through our old friend - philosopher - (mis) Guide, the one and only Dipankar Da from North East Tours and Travels. I believe our stay at Akriti Homestay was worth every penny. Chatakpur is a beautiful, quaint, eco-friendly village right at the opposite of Tiger Hill. Chatakpur is famous for offering ubobstructed views of the whole range of Kanchenjunga right from your window. The rooms, washrooms and the whole property is very clean and well maintained. The rooms are really spacious in comparison to other homestays I have been to. And the thing that makes it special here - is the warmth of the wonderful host - Barsha Rai and her family. She along with her husband and 2 kids runs this homestay. Akriti is the name of her daugher - who is the elder one than her brother - Aryansh. Another wonderful thing here is the food, which is finger licking and heavenly. You can't believe the simple home-cooked food can be so tasty unless you spend a night here.

Well I can't promise you to find the snow (as we did), but I can surely tell you that you'd definitely rediscover your soul here in the vicinity of mother nature!

Chatakpur is a lovely village near Darjeeling that is away from the crowds. Kanchenjangha will greet you warmly. Chatakpur eco village is located 7 kilometers from Sonada, in the hill town of Darjeeling district, amidst the Senchal Reserve Forest, at an elevation of 7887 feet.

Chatakpur is a renowned tourist destination because it provides a panoramic view of snow-capped mountains, the Himalayan range, and a lush green forest of alpine trees. On a clear day, the Chatakpur view point offers a breathtaking view of the sunrise and Mt. Kanchenjunga.

If you’re looking for a laid-back, peaceful vacation, this is the place to go. With the lovely tranquil, yet mysterious forest of Senchal, spend your holiday days in the lap of nature. The view of Mt Kanchenjunga from this location is far superior to that of Tiger Hill.

During this time, there are also issues with flowing water, though the hotel staff helps as much as they can. You’ll be out of the world for 2 to 3 nights. Oh, and before Darjeeling town, there is no medical assistance and remember that mobile service is weak.

Rice, dal, vegetable, eggs for lunch, roti and chicken for dinner, and poori sabji for breakfast are all healthy and tasty options. Because of the remoteness of this location, there is just one small store at the bottom of the village, which is surrounded by the forest.

How to Reach Chatakpur ...

Book a taxi to Chatakpur from New Jalpaiguri station (NJP) or Bagdogra airport (IXB). Chatakpur is around 2 hours 25 minutes away through this 60-kilometer road.

The best approach is to take the Hill Cart Road or Rohini Road towards Kurseong , then continue up Hill Cart Road into Darjeeling, and then turn right at Sonada onto the Forest Office Road, which will eventually meet Chatakpur Road.

The route between Sonada and Chatakpur is 6 kilometers long, and it is in poor shape. Despite the fact that this road from Sonada runs through woodland, you will enjoy your adventure.

Another option to travel is, after passing through Kurseong on your trip to Darjeeling, follow the uphill road to the right at Dilaram, which leads to Bagora hamlet and then all the way to Chatakpur.

This route, on the other hand, is a rock road that is exceedingly difficult to navigate for small cars, thus heavy vehicles with considerable ground clearance are recommended.

Vehicles traveling from Darjeeling to Chatakpur normally travel up to Jorebunglow and then use the Old Military Road through the Senchal Wildlife Sanctuary’s trees. This route finally comes to a crossroads with the Chatakpur Road. Distance from Jorebunglow to Chatakpur is roughly 14kms and can easily take over 1 hour. Alternatively, you can travel down to Sonada, which is about a 50-minute drive from Darjeeling, and then up to Chatakpur.

The drive from Sonada to Chatakpur is bumpy and difficult, so keep that in mind if you go, you’ll be tossed all over the car. Also be informed that, It takes about 10-15 minutes to walk up to the homestays.

During the monsoon, between June to September the path from Jorebunglow through Senchal Wildlife Sanctuary is closed. You can normally take the other roads through Sonada or Bagora during such times.

The homestays are affordable and come with lots of blankets and a header. The homestay authority acted politely and warmly, creating a fantastic atmosphere. The food is of excellent quality, and there is more than enough of it. These people work extremely hard to ensure that our vacation is a success.

Both food and accommodation are included as part of the package. They provide a lot of food. Breakfast is served in the morning, lunch is served in the afternoon, snacks are served in the evening, and dinner is served at night. The meals are quite delicious. They give a room heater when the temperature is too cold. Whatever you ask, the owner always greets you with a smile and a warm welcome.

Sittong is a small village near Darjeeling. It is about 1 and half hour journey from NJP. It is located at an altitude of 4000ft. It is surrounded by a luxuriant orange orchard. The serenity and calmness of the place are ideal to spend alone time. You can also have a spectacular view of Kanchanjangha from Sittong.

Lepchajagat is a little town situated in the wilderness at an elevation of 6,956 ft and just 19kms away from Darjeeling town. Despite the fact that it’s very near Darjeeling’s main center point and takes just around 45 minutes by cab, it has its very own world.

Tinchuley is a little mountain town (rather a villa) in Darjeeling locale and situated at an elevation of 5,800ft, and only 3kms above Takdah. The word Tinchuley implies Three Ovens (for example Tin Chullahs). Also, such a name to the town has been given as a result of the three noticeable slopes best that surround the spot and which from far look like stoves or chullahs. Tinchuley faces the Kalimpong hiils.

Day 1- NJP to Sittong Khasmahal (Ahaldara or Ghaleytar or Turuk or Maldiram)

Pickup from New Jalpaiguri Station/Bagdogra Airport & transfer Sittong region (Distance 45km take arround 2.30hrs). Overnight at Ahaldara or Ghaleytar or Turuk or Maldiram.

Day 2- Sightseeing of Sittong area

Morning visit Orange gardens, Sittong church, Old Monastery, Mungpoo, the Cinchona village made famous by Rabindranath Tagore is just 8 km from Sittong. Latpanchar is about 7 km, Chatakpur is about 22 km away and Kurseong is also about 24 km drive. You can spend several days in the village and explore all the tourist destinations in and around from here. Overnight at Sittong area.

Day 3- Sittong to Lepchajagat 65km & Visit Jorpokhri & Ghum Monastery

Morning Transfer to Lepchajagat (Distance 65km take arround 2.30hrs). Lepchajagat is a small village located in wilderness at an altitude of 6,956 ft and only 19kms away from Darjeeling hill town.

Day 4- Lepchajagat to Takdah Cantonment area & visit Lamahatta & Tinchuley

Tinchuley is a small mountain village (rather a hamlet) in Darjeeling district and located at an altitude of 5,800ft, and just 3kms above Takdah.

There is another trail of around 8 kms from Lamahatta to Takdah that goes through a maze of pine and dhupi trees. Option 3 - Trek to Takdah Orchid Center (over 5 kms). The Ordchid Center is however open usually during the season (February through April) Option 4 - Trek to the Gari Danda, an old fort on top of a hill which is about 3 kms away.
