About Australia and New Zealand Cruises

Cruise between two countries famed for spectacular natural beauty, artistic cities and thrilling shore activities.

Imagine your dream cruise to Australia and New Zealand. It probably involves exploring the Great Barrier Reef, sipping coffee in Wellington and meeting a koala bear. All of these dreams can become reality on an Australia and New Zealand cruise. Enjoy other unexpected sights and thrills along the way. Drift along breathtaking fjords in New Zealand or visit UNESCO-listed sites on an Australia cruise that is sure to take in a dazzling and diverse itinerary.

Multiple choices are available to anyone planning an Australia and New Zealand cruise. First, select your ship, which could be a family-friendly craft with myriad activities for children or a smaller vessel for more intimate adventures. Then choose an itinerary, which could cover either nation individually or include both for maximum variety in your Australia and New Zealand cruise vacation.

The two nations are very different, yet both promise thrills, sightseeing and natural beauty to any cruise liner pulling into port. In Australia, experience underwater wonderlands when you dock at Cairns or spend the day exploring the chic city center of Sydney. Book in advance for a sought-after place on a circumnavigation Australia cruise, which circles around the whole island continent.

New Zealand cruises aren’t yet as popular as Australia cruises but they offer intoxicating mixtures of dramatic mountains and trendy, modern cities. Shore excursions could vary from trips to vineyards outside Auckland or swimming with dolphins near the Bay of Islands. Seek out itineraries that take you through Fiordland, where the cliffs, forests and waterfalls rival the fjords of Scandinavia. Circumnavigation cruises of New Zealand are also available with some operators.

Itineraries for both New Zealand and Australia cruises vary in length and number of ports. The shortest journeys are one-way and one-country, but to enjoy a round-trip or experience the beauty of both nations, plan for a longer Australia and New Zealand cruise vacation. October to April are the busiest months for Southern Hemisphere cruises, although Australia cruise lines operate throughout the year. The best time to cruise to New Zealand is during its summer months between December and February.

This is a region of beautiful scenery, majestic fjords, fine wine, friendly people, and exotic wildlife.

And with its opposite seasons, it’s the perfect place for those from the Northern Hemisphere to escape the winter blues. From the iconic Sydney Opera House to the soaring green mountains of New Zealand—and every palm-fringed beach in between—this region offers newness, tradition, and sublime scenery.

Choose from a wide variety of itineraries, from two-night jaunts around Sydney to longer sailings around New Zealand, the Great Barrier Reef, and the South Pacific. Choose from two convenient home ports, Sydney and Auckland, both gorgeous coastal cities with endless sightseeing opportunities.

Australia & New Zealand Cruise Highlights

Natural beauty.

It’s the outdoors that makes this region truly exceptional—from the snowy peaks of New Zealand to the picture-perfect beauty of Tahiti. Dive the Great Barrier Reef on your cruise to see multi-colored fish and corals. Photograph the towering Mitre Peak as you glide through the otherworldly Milford, Dusky, and Doubtful Sounds in New Zealand. Discover a peninsula of pink granite mountains, eucalyptus forests, white beaches, and azure waters of Tasmania’s Freycinet National Park.

Culture & History

The Māori are the indigenous people of Aotearoa (New Zealand) and first arrived here in canoes from their ancestral homeland of Hawaiki over 1,000 years ago. Their traditions are still very much alive today. Tribal tattoos are an expression of commitment and respect, while skillful wood carvers create intricate works that pay respect to the past.

The flora and fauna found in this region is among the most diverse on earth. Koalas. Kiwi birds. Duck-billed platypus. Tasmanian devils. Kangaroos (Australia is home to more kangaroos than people). See the most breathtaking reef inhabitants in the world including manta rays, sea turtles, and sharks on a South Pacific cruise . Hike through jungles to waterfalls in Fiji. And be sure to pick up some rare Manuka honey to bring home from New Zealand.

Culinary Exploration

World-class wineries and breweries. The freshest seafood. Legendary New Zealand lamb. French cuisine in Noumea and Tahiti. Your options in this region are diverse and delicious. In Australia, smear toast or a sandwich with Vegemite that is full of B vitamins and has a savory “umami” flavor. When the cruise ship docks in Tahiti , try the local food trucks, called roulottes, which offer inexpensive, but tasty, dishes.

Featured Destinations

Cairns, australia.

On an Australia cruise, Cairns serves as the starting point for many to make the short jaunt to the Great Barrier Reef. In northern Queensland, it’s known for its tropical climate and awe-inspiring natural sights. Nearby, Daintree National Park offers a mountainous rainforest, gorges and beaches.

Hobart, Tasmania

With a fascinating history as an old penal colony, and its massive national park, Tasmania seems like another world. However, cool Hobart will thrill you with its cutting-edge cuisine, world-class museums, and wine tasting rooms. Visitors on an Australia cruise will find so much to explore.

Bay of Islands, New Zealand

On a New Zealand cruise, hundreds of small islands are just waiting for you to explore. The Bay of Islands , a ruggedly scenic collection located just off of the northern tip of the North Island, are some of the most beloved. Auckland, New Zealand

The biggest city in New Zealand is one of the most energetic cities you’ll ever visit. It’s known for its walkability and historic sites like the War Memorial Museum. Two harbors hug the region, so it’s surrounded by water with boats floating nearby and plenty of harborside bars and restaurants to explore. Auckland’s friendliness and relaxed vibe embody urban life. It’s hard to go wrong with activities like diving at the Goat Island Marine Reserve or walking down to the Waitemata Harbor, making your time before taking a cruise from Auckland just as memorable as the cruise itself.

Culinary adventure.

Travelers may not always think of Australia, New Zealand, and the South Pacific as top culinary destinations, but this region has a lot to offer.

From velvety Chardonnays to vibrant shiraz and more, the area is rich with respected wineries and blessed with the perfect climate to grow grapes. A world of wonderful wineries is found in the countryside on many of your ports of call as well as a booming brewery scene in the cities. Cheers!

As a region that has strong currents connecting it to the rest of the world, Australia, New Zealand, and the South Pacific have a wide range of seafood available year ‘round. In fact, rare Bluff oysters from New Zealand are among the world’s finest. Pair with a crisp sauvignon blanc for a taste of heaven

Sheep farming has become an iconic symbol of New Zealand itself. Lamb from here has an all-natural advantage. It’s free-range and naturally fed on verdant pasturelands, so it’s mild tasting and naturally lean and tender. It’s no wonder roast lamb is a Kiwi meat-lovers’ favorite.

Australia Sydney Opera House

WONDERS DOWN UNDER

Australian cruises.

From urban verve to outback wilderness, Australia is a year-round sunny paradise.

A large island nation, Australia delivers the best of both the city and the country, the beach and the bush. The locals here are a laidback and friendly bunch, with a dry sense of humour and their own slang language. Explore cosmopolitan Sydney, home to Bondi Beach's turquoise waters and the architecturally unique Sydney Opera House. Cruise to Australia and visit Queensland to experience the Whitsunday Islands, where you can snorkel to see the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Great Barrier Reef, the world's largest living organism. For an authentic Australian adventure, head to the outback: check out Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park, with its red dome known as Ayers Rock.

KING AMONG REEFS

Snorkel, dive and swim along the Great Barrier Reef, the world's largest coral reef – you can even charter a glass-bottomed boat to stay dry while seeing the only living organism visible from outer space. The reef is accessible from places like Cairns, Airlie Beach, Townsville and Port Douglas in Queensland.

A sampler cruise from Sydney is a great way to experience both Australia's biggest city and an exciting cruise.

Australia Tasmania Islands and National Parks

BE TANTALISED BY TASMANIA

Tasmania is an underrated Australian state that's home to Cradle Mountain, the World Heritage-listed Port Arthur Historic Site and the eccentric Museum of Old and New Art among other things to do.

In northern Australia, be aware that stingers (dangerous jellyfish) swarm the seas in the summer, from approximately October to March.

Tipping is not customary in Australia.

The universal phone number for taxi services across the country is 131008.

HOW TO DINE DOWN UNDER

'Fair dinkum' – Aussie slang for 'authentic' or 'genuine' – Australian cuisine has been influenced by England, New Zealand and even Italy. However, there's nothing more Australian than throwing some steak and snags (sausages) on a barbie (barbecue) – no prawns allowed.

Australian Classic Steak and Frites

POPULAR PUB GRUB

There are two dishes to order at an Aussie pub: a chicken parmigiana (called a parmi Down Under) or a burger, which will usually come topped with Australian specialities like beetroot or pineapple. Of course, you can always go for a classic steaks: Porterhouses are popular in Victoria, while rump steaks are particularly beloved in New South Wales.

Australian Biscuits

THE REAL BISCUIT

Australia has some delicious sweet treats, but it's perhaps best-known for perfecting the biscuit. Try Anzac biscuits with oats and golden syrup, lamingtons – a sponge square covered in chocolate and coconut – and Tim Tams, the local favourite brand of chocolate-covered biscuits.

Australian Meat Pies

IT'S PIE TIME

Meat pies – with a flaky pastry crust baked around a savoury filling of ground meat (typically beef or lamb) and spices – are a traditional Australian lunch or snack found in bakeries across the country. Another favourite is the Chiko Roll, similar to a large spring roll but filled with the signature Aussie ingredients of mutton, celery, barley, rice, carrots and spices.

Related Ports

The Australian coast is dotted with beautiful ports, like Esperance, to explore. In Queensland, Cairns and Airlie Beach are both gateways to the Great Barrier Reef. Meanwhile, Darwin is a gateway to the Northern Territory's rugged natural sights, including Kakadu and Litchfield National Parks and Uluru.

Visit the Franz Josef Glacier

See the icy fingers of the Franz Josef Glacier with a guided ice walk or a thrilling scenic flight. When you take to the skies on our New Zealand trips, you’ll get a breathtaking view of the 12 kilometer glacier, along with Mount Cook and the soaring Southern Alps of the World Heritage Site park.

Cruise to the Great Barrier Reef

Board a high-speed catamaran and cruise the Coral Sea to the Great Barrier Reef, the world’s largest living structure and one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World. This remarkable coral reef can be seen from outer space, and we’ll sink beneath the waters to snorkel with a dazzling array of marine life.

When you travel New Zealand with Trafalgar, we’ll take you along the Kapiti Coast to Wellington, New Zealand’s beautiful capital city. You’ll enjoy an exclusive guided tour of Te Papa Museum where you’ll learn about Maori culture, then spend time exploring Welly’s gems, like the Parliament buildings or the city’s coffee culture.

Our top 5 things to do in Australia & New Zealand

Our tours of Australia and New Zealand will reveal the wonders of Down Under, from the sunny Great Barrier Reef in Australia, to the icy Franz Josef Glacier in New Zealand.

The International Antarctic Centre

Located in Christchurch, the International Antarctic Centre is one of the best attractions in New Zealand. There are scores of interactive experiences to show you what life is like in Antarctica, including a thrilling all-terrain vehicle tour and a wild Antarctic storm room. Immerse yourself in the 4D theater and meet the cheeky penguins.

Australian National Maritime Museum

Set in Sydney’s vibrant Darling Harbour, the Australian National Maritime Museum shares the country’s stories of the sea. You can explore three open vessels including a ship and a submarine, and various exhibitions that document the charting of Australia’s coastline and the sacred meaning of the sea to the Aboriginal Australians.

Museum of Sydney

The Museum of Sydney showcases the colonial and contemporary history of Sydney, though pictures, objects and digital media exhibitions. It was built on the ruins of Australia's first Government House dating back to 1788, and today houses a large display of convict artefacts recovered from over 25 archaeological digs.

Best museums in Australia & New Zealand

Our trips to Australia and New Zealand showcase the region’s top museums, from the interactive Antarctic Centre in New Zealand, to the open ships of the Australian National Maritime Museum.

Pavlova is made from chewy meringue shell with a soft marshmallow center, and topped with whipped cream and fresh fruits like strawberries, kiwifruit and passionfruit. There’s a rivalry between Australia and New Zealand over the true national origins of the dish, but both countries agree it’s a truly delicious dessert.

Seafood is a national specialty throughout New Zealand, but the best place to enjoy a meal of crayfish is Kaikoura, a seaside town on the South Island. Here, you’ll enjoy the freshest catch of the day, and the crayfish is boiled and served with a tangy dipping sauce.

Found in restaurants all over Australia, the parmigiana is one of the most beloved dishes in the country. It’s made from a breaded chicken breast slathered in tomato sauce and mozzarella cheese, served with french fries and salad. It originated in Italy and was brought to Australia with a wave of Italian migrants.

Honolulu, Hawaii

Honolulu is located on the Hawaiian island of Oahu and offers cruisers incredible ways to experience the culture and history of the island. From volcanoes and beaches to the historic devastation of war, there is no shortage of places to explore and things to learn during a Honolulu cruise. Stroll along the famous Waikiki Beach, attend a traditional hula ceremony, and get up close with local wildlife at the Honolulu Zoo and the Waikiki Aquarium. If you want to spend extra time in the Hawaiian capital of Honolulu and explore even more of what the city has to offer, arrive a few days early before embarking on an unforgettable cruise around Hawaii ., or other areas of the South Pacific.

Ships Sailing in Australia, New Zealand & South Pacific

Once the richest city in the world thanks to a gold rush, Melbourne is Australia's cultural capital with striking architecture, chic galleries and boutiques. Wave at a wallaby or get close to a koala at a wildlife park. Feel closer to the land on a ride on the Puffing Billy steam locomotive through the mountains and countryside. Back in the city, explore a different culture and visit Chinatown - the oldest one in the West.

As Victoria's oldest European settlement, Portland boasts numerous bluestone 19th century buildings and historic attractions that you can visit on guided tours. Learn about the city's rich seafaring background at the Maritime Discovery Centre, visit the WWII Memorial Lookout Tower and linger in the colourful Botanical Gardens. Take to the sea on a wide range of outdoor adventures, from whale watching and surfing to fishing, kayaking and more. Or lace up your comfortable walking shoes and enjoy fantastic vistas whilst exploring waterfront and clifftop trails. There's something for everyone to enjoy in Portland.

/sites/default/files/ADL_MW_881x400 (2).jpg

Ranked as one of the world's most livable cities, Adelaide is ideally nestled between the ocean and the foothills of the Mt. Lofty Ranges. In addition to the abundance of outdoor adventures available from the sea to the mountains, Adelaide is known for its thriving arts and culture scenes. Spot colourful street art whilst heading to one of the museums or art galleries found throughout the city. Stick to the coastline as you explore picturesque beaches or journey inland to visit some of the numerous vineyards located in the region. From kayaking, hiking and sunbathing to boutique shopping, learning about Aboriginal culture and more, get ready for an unforgettable day in Adelaide.

/sites/default/files/KAN.Port_.950x320.png

As its name suggests, you will indeed encounter kangaroos whilst visiting Kangaroo Island. But there's so much more to see in addition to Australia's national animal. Situated 70 miles off the coast of Adelaide, Kangaroo Island is home to diverse wildlife, including the koala, platypus and tammar wallaby. Explore some of the island's rugged 330 miles of coastline and visit sea lion and long-nosed fur seal colonies. Go sandboarding on the otherworldly landscape of Little Sahara sand dunes. Sample honey made from Ligurian honey bees - the island boasts the only purebred and disease-free population of this bee species. Or go vineyard hopping and discover a new favourite vintage. Experience an unforgettable day on an island unlike any other.

/sites/default/files/HOB_MW_881x400 (2).jpg

Hobart is Tasmania's capital city that blends culture, historical sites and a vibrant artistic community against a backdrop of staggering natural beauty. Get a taste of local life by strolling Salamanca Place in Sullivan's Cove - a cobblestone square bustling with art galleries, boutique shops, restaurants and live music. Journey to the Tasman Peninsula to explore the island's beautiful wilderness and perhaps spot the famed Tasmanian Devil.

/cruises/assets/images/itinerary/itineraryRouteDefaultImage.jpg

Carved by ancient glaciers, Milford Sound, which is really a fjord, is the crown jewel of Fiordland National Park and a UNESCO World Heritage site. It is only nine miles long from its head to the open sea, but what it lacks in size, it makes up for in grandeur. Its vertical cliffs covered in verdant rainforests provide a breathtaking backdrop to thundering waterfalls, misty rainbows and the tannin-stained waters of the fjord. Below the surface is the largest population of black coral in the world. Milford Sound receives an amazing 22 feet of precipitation annually, yet there are only two permanent waterfalls, Lady Bowen and Sterling Falls. Depending on the weather, waterfalls can appear around every corner, cascading down the mountain in spectacular fashion. Rising upwards of 5,555 feet, the iconic landmark of Milford Sound is Mitre Peak, named for its resemblance to a bishop's hat, known as a mitre. Five individual peaks create its distinctive shape.

At 25 miles in length, and five miles wide at its broadest, Dusky Sound is the largest and most spectacular fjord in Fjordland National Park. Captain Cook named Dusky Sound in 1770, as he sailed past its entrance at twilight. Three years later, he returned and stayed 47 days as his crew repaired and replenished his ship, Resolution, after sailing 11,000 nautical miles from Cape Town. You can still see evidence of his landfall at Astronomer's Point, an overlook where the crew removed trees, so the ship's astronomer could get a reading on the stars. Dusky Sound is only accessible by boat or plane making its remoteness a haven for birds and a breeding site for Fjordland crested penguins. These endangered creatures are easy to spot with their bright yellow eyebrows. Other wildlife to look for include sunbathing seals on Seal Rock and southern right whales at Preservation Inlet. Upon entering Dusky Sound, it's customary to make a resolution as you sail past Resolution Island, named after Cook's ship.

Although technically not a sound (it's a fjord), Doubtful Sound is the second longest in New Zealand-and the country's second most famous tourist attraction. It does, however, capture the top spot for being the deepest, at over 1,300 feet. Doubtful Sound sits at the far southwest corner of the country and winds its way for 24 miles, past small islets and lush mountains covered in dense, native rainforest. With a staggering amount of precipitation, up to 240 inches, it's no wonder that it's so verdant, and also why most days are wet and misty with low-lying clouds. But where there is rain, there are rainbows, which makes for spectacular scenes, especially at the many waterfalls, some of which fall over 2,000 feet. Doubtful Sound is also home to fur seals, crested penguins, bottlenose dolphin and whales. Black coral even grows here at relatively shallow depths (35 feet) thanks to the sunlight's inability to penetrate the top layer of freshwater, stained heavy with tannins from the forests.

/sites/default/files/MI.ORR-2_950x320.jpg

This dramatic South Island coastal town offers a mix of unique natural beauty and fascinating history. Rare, yellow-eyed penguins, fur seals and the Royal Albatross all call Dunedin home. Equally impressive is the Victorian and Edwardian architecture that dates from its days as a gold rush town. New Zealand's only castle sits high above the city and offers sweeping views from its famous gardens. Shop for a locally made souvenir, with crafts, artwork, wool and leather items being popular.

/sites/default/files/WLG_MI_881x400.jpg

Travel to a Victorian past as you stroll by the city's Victorian Gothic buildings. Take the cable car up the mountain for a fantastic view, or grab some sunscreen and head to the beach. Great views abound in Wellington: Journey around the spectacular harbor and enjoy its amazing views. See some of the sites where the Lord of the Rings trilogy was filmed. Shopping opportunities are plentiful, with arts and crafts, jewellery, fine woolens and leather goods on offer.

/sites/default/files/Picton-New-Zealand-shutterstock_313617830-MW-920x320.jpg

Built around a sheltered harbor, Picton is lined with cafés and restaurants for you to choose from (we suggest the fish and chips). Popular attractions in Picton include a maritime museum and an aquarium. But this town is not short on recreational activities. Some of Picton's favourite pastimes include fishing, dolphin watching and sea kayaking. Walk or bike the Queen Charlotte Track or spend the day exploring the scenic Marlborough Sounds. Check out one of the many wine tours (probably after biking the track). Then relax as you browse the local shops that offer a wide range of trinkets, including handmade jewellery, paintings from local artists and woodcarvings. Before leaving Picton, it's time for more fish and chips along the shore. It's the Picton way!

/sites/default/files/NPE_MI_881x400.jpg

Napier calls itself the Art Deco capital of the world, but it's also a leading wine-travel destination. Leveled by an earthquake in 1931, Napier was rebuilt in Art Deco style. Along with Miami Beach, Napier is one of the best examples of this style, with many of its structures well preserved. Take a walk down Marine Parade, a tree-lined ocean boulevard with fountains and gardens, or go out to the country to enjoy the lovely vistas, tour superb area vineyards and relax with a glass of wine.

/sites/default/files/TAU_MI_881x400.jpg

Go walk-about and explore Tauranga, set on the beautiful Bay of Plenty. And indeed there are plenty of things to do. Head to the beach or discover Tauranga's lovely parks and rich history. Visit a village buried by a volcanic eruption and captured in a moment of time - a fascinating yet moving experience. Take a selfie at Hell's Gate, an aptly named geothermal park with boiling pools, fantastic geysers and mud baths, the largest of which is Poutamu, "the stairway to heaven."

/sites/default/files/AKL-LG2-950x320.jpg

Surrounded by tranquil golden beaches, lush forests and dramatic coastal trails, Auckland is a nature lover's paradise. The 48 volcanic cones that dot the surrounding area provide stunning panoramic views of the city and harbor. New Zealand's largest city is also a shopper's paradise offering everything from top designers to local open-air markets. Learn about the indigenous Maori and take home some native art pieces or jewellery. The fine, locally produced woolens also make excellent gifts.

Land programs & hotels.

Enjoy a fascinating exploration of Singapore with a sightseeing trip on the Singapore River, admiring landmarks such as the Esplanade, Marina Bay Sands and the symbolic Merlion statue. Discover Chinatown and take walk through several districts teeming with landmarks of Singapore's colonial past. Tour Gardens by the Bay, a sprawling waterfront garden and nature park and close your experience with a memorable dinner at the 1930’s style Grand Shanghai restaurant.

NOTE: Please advise the Destination Team via Reservations or Guest Services in advance of your travel of any seafood allergies or dietary restrictions. Once in Singapore changes to the dinner menu on Day 3 may not be possible.

Upon arriving at the Singapore International Airport, you will be met in the public arrivals area just outside of baggage claim and transferred to your hotel – the Fairmont Singapore or similar hotel.

Check in time is 3:00pm. Rooms may or may not be ready before this time. Guests with early arriving flights may wish to book an extra night to ensure a ready room upon your arrival.

Lunch and dinner are on your own.

After breakfast, you will be met by your guide for an introductory tour to discover the multi religion and culture of Singapore.

Begin with an exploration of Waterloo Street where you will find several well-known landmarks, including the Kwan Imm Thong Hood Cho Temple, Maghain Aboth Synagogue, Sculpture Square, and Sri Krishnan Temple. The Maghain Aboth Synagogue is the oldest synagogue in Singapore and was built by the local Jewish community in 1878. Here you will experience how the locals adapt to each other’s culture and religion.

Next take a walk along Albert Street which was originally lined with two-story shop houses, and was famous for its Chinese restaurants, bars, medicine shops and food stalls. You can still see some of the old traditional retail shops within this area.

You will also see the business district that is responsible for the nation's fiscal security and drive through the historic Padang or colonial area. Have your camera ready as architecture and foliage combine to create the perfect backdrop for you to capture the landmarks of Singapore's colonial past.

Continue with a visit to Chinatown where you will walk through its alleyways and visit the Chinatown Heritage Centre. Housed within 3 traditional shop houses, each level of the Heritage Centre takes you to a different period in the history of Chinatown, and allows you to trace the lives of its early occupants. The hard life of the migrants resulted in many of them seeking solace in the four evils: opium smoking, prostitution, gambling and secret societies.

For lunch the group will dine at a local Chinese seafood restaurant – perhaps you will try the famous Singapore Chili Crab!

After lunch board a colourful riverboat and enjoy a 30-minute ride down the Singapore River. In Raffles’ days, the riverboats carried goods. Today, they are a popular way to experience a kaleidoscope of historic river and harbor images, including the “godown” warehouses, the shophouses, the six bridges built by the British and the gracious buildings of the old waterfront set against the towering skyline of the new business district.

The day wraps up with a visit to Arab Street, the old center of the Malay community. Today, Arab Street is abundant with glittery and lavish fashion items that include the finest lace, sparkling semi-precious stones, ostrich feathers, iron-on diamantes, gold thread, wholesales bales of silk and organza with dazzling rainbow hues and intensities. Traditional rattan is also sold in little India’s street shops, and the beautiful gold-domed Sultan Mosque is located here.

After this comprehensive and enlightening tour of the city, you will return to your hotel to enjoy the remainder of the afternoon at your own leisure or you may choose to stay in the city and make your own way back to your hotel. Dinner is on your own today.

After breakfast at your hotel you will be met by your guide for your tour to “Gardens by the Bay”. These Gardens capture the essence of Singapore as the premier tropical Garden City with the perfect environment in which to love and work – making Singapore a leading global city of the 21st century.

Underlying the concept of Gardens by the Bay are the principles of environmental sustainability. Comprising two glass biomes, the Conservatories replicate the cool-dry climate of the Mediterranean and semi-arid sub-tropical regions and the cool-moist climate of the Tropical Montane region.

They house a diverse collection of plants that are not commonly seen in this part of the world and are of high conservation value. The conservatories are a statement in sustainable engineering and apply a suite of cutting-edge technologies for energy-efficient solutions in cooling.

Visit the Cloud Forest, a mysterious world veiled in mist. A 35-metre tall mountain covered in lush vegetation shrouding the world’s tallest indoor waterfall showcases plant life from tropical highlands up to 2,000-meters above sea level.

Next, step into the Flower Dome and you will marvel in awe of nature as well as the spectacular and innovative designs. The Flower Dome replicates the cool-dry climate of Mediterranean regions.

You may wish to stroll along the Skyway and take in a view of the Gardens from above. (there is a separate fee to walk along the Skyway)

Truly a spectacular and colorful national icon, Gardens by the Bay will capture the imagination of everyone who visits.

Next, visit the top of the iconic Marina Bay Sands Hotel – SkyPark Observation Deck. At 57 stories above ground you will have a bird’s eye view of the stunning Marina Bay, Singapore’s world class city-scape, the architectural wonders of Supertree Grove and the bustling shipping lanes that have built Singapore’s rich history and economy.

After this tour, you will return to your hotel to enjoy the rest of the afternoon at leisure. Lunch is on your own.

In the evening you will meet with your guide once again and transfer to the Grand Shanghai for a dinner that is sure to be a feast for the senses.

In the midst of a contemporary "East meets West" interior setting, Grand Shanghai invites you to immerse yourself in a lively atmosphere with Iconic art-deco motifs, elegant chandeliers and modern oriental designs.

Following dinner, you will be returned to your hotel.

NOTE: Please advise the Destination Team via Reservations or Guest Services in advance of any seafood allergies

After breakfast you will check out and transfer to the port for embarkation.

Expected Weather:

Singapore is known for its hot and humid weather, with little variation throughout the year. The average daytime temperature is 31ºC (88ºF), dropping to around 24ºC (75ºF) in the evenings. The monsoon season can bear down pretty heavily on our tropical weather from November onwards, so be prepared for rain on a daily basis during this period.

What to Bring:

When packing, keep in mind that you will be in the tropics. Light, cool, and casual clothing is recommended all year round. For more formal occasions, men should wear jackets, ties, or long-sleeved batik shirts whereas women should wear dresses.

Local Currency:

The currency used in Singapore is the Singapore dollar (S$). Money changing services can be found not only at the Singapore Changi Airport but also at most shopping centers and hotels around the island. You can also access the automated teller machines (ATMs) located everywhere (even in the most obscure bits) in Singapore, that accept most of the main credit cards such as Visa, MasterCard and American Express.

Electricity

Singapore's electricity voltage is 220-240V with ac, 50 cycles per second. Generally, the electricity outlets are three-pronged - two parallel flat pins with a ground outlet. You may purchase adaptors in any of the hardware stores or rent one from the hotel. We recommend travelling with your own international adaptor should you have electric devices.

Documents and Visa Requirements:

Visitors must have a valid passport or internationally recognized travel document valid for minimum 6 months beyond the date of entry into Singapore.

Guests are required to submit an electronic Singapore Arrival Card within three days prior to arrival into Singapore. They are not permitted any earlier. Please follow instructions on this website https://eservices.ica.gov.sg/sgarrivalcard/ or through the official “MyICA” mobile application. Submissions are free of charge.

Hotel Address:

Fairmont Singapore

80 Bras Basah Road, Singapore 189560

Phone: +65 6339 7777

*We will only substitute the hotel in unforeseen situations. If the hotel is substituted, it will be similar and with equal ratings and standards and guests will be notified in advance. If guests are not notified of any changes before departure, then the hotel listed in this program will be used.

Program Includes for guests

3 nights at the Fairmont Hotel Singapore including breakfast – Fairmont Room

1 set dinner at Grand Shanghai including transfers and guide

1 Full Day tour with English speaking guide

1 Half Day tour with English speaking guide

Please Note: Guests booking their own flights (independent of the cruise line) are responsible for ensuring that the cruise line has the updated arrival information, so your transfer can be arranged. If you book additional nights independently of the cruise line, an arrival transfer is not provided. If we do not receive flight details a minimum of 14 days in advance, transfers will not be provided.

Program Excludes for guests:

Gratuities to drivers and guides

Any meals or beverages not listed above

Hotel incidentals including room service and mini bar

Any visas if required

Please note: Land programs that encompass multiple days ashore customarily include extensive and prolonged activity, while those of shorter durations typically have more moderate activity levels. However, each program varies, and participants should be prepared to negotiate a mixture of surfaces which may include: inclines, cobblestones, sand, and gravel or natural paths. There may also be a need to climb steps or stairs on occasion. Guests who utilize a wheelchair and those with mobility concerns are advised to check with the cruise line in advance to see if any portion of the tour program may not be considered suitable for their individual situation. Weather appropriate clothing; hats; sunglasses; and flat, comfortable walking shoes are generally recommended.

Please note: All land programs are capacity controlled and subject to availability. Programs falling under the minimum number of required participants are subject to cancellation. Pricing listed is also subject to change to meet unexpected cost increases for transportation, land arrangements or currency fluctuations. Once purchased, pricing is guaranteed and not subject to change. Land Programs must be purchased no later than 60 days prior to your sail date. Cancellations made within 60 days or less prior to the sail date are subject to 100% cancellation penalty. There are no refunds for unused portions of any program. Guests failing to arrive on Day 1 of a scheduled land program will be considered a no-show and their hotel space released.

Price: $1,599 per guest based on double occupancy.

Just outside Cambodia’s Siem Reap, a unique and thrilling adventure awaits you in the jungles of Angkor, where you can uncover the rich history and grand architecture of the Khmer Empire. Obscured by dense vegetation for centuries, the glorious temples of Angkor comprise one of the world’s largest religious monuments. The most famous is the enormous Angkor Wat, whose soaring walls are covered with intricate carvings. You will also pass through the imposing gates of Angkor Thom, the last capital of the Khmer Empire, to explore the renowned Bayon Temple.

Please note:

-There is extensive walking over uneven ground at the temple sites - at times up to 2 km, with steps at Bayon and Angkor Wat. This tour is not suitable for guests with walking difficulty or if confined to a wheelchair. It can also be very hot and humid there.

-Cambodian visa fee is included in the tour and will be applied upon arrival at Siem Reap Airport

-Flight schedules are subject to change thus the tour sequence may vary

-Special Note: Any guests travelling with Portable Oxygen Concentrators (POC) or CPAP breathing machines should read further below for airline stipulations with regards to bringing this equipment on tour.

After flying into the Singapore International Airport, you will be met outside of Customs and transferred to your hotel. Check in is at 3:00pm, and while every effort will be made to have rooms available earlier, this cannot be guaranteed. Should you have an early arrival time you may wish to book an extra night so that a room is ready upon your arrival.

You will spend the remainder of the day settling in and enjoying the amenities at your hotel or the sites of the city. Meals are on your own today.

Following check out you will transfer to the Singapore International Airport. Upon arrival, proceed through check-in for your flight to Siem Reap. You will be accompanied on the flight by a representative from our local ground agency.

On arrival in Siem Reap you will be met and assisted with obtaining your Cambodian Entry Visa. You will then proceed to the Angkor Site to collect your temple passes which are required for touring. Once this has been issued, board your coach for the transfer to your hotel for check-in and lunch on your own.

NOTE: Your passport will be kept by our program operations team in order to process the visa on arrival and for exit procedures on departure day. Your passport will be safely returned to you on Day 4.

Later in the day, venture to the Angkor Wat Temple Complex – the highlight of this program. You will have approximately 2 hours to explore its archaeological treasures with your guide before returning to your hotel.

Your guide will point out the best spots for taking photos of this massive temple complex as you walk amidst the moss-peppered cobbled pathways, gaze up at the intricately carved tower tops and perhaps climb the steep and narrow temple steps that lead to wide courtyards. Lose yourself in contemplation as you catch the rays of the sun dancing off the bas relief carvings at sunset, the chatter of monkeys reverberating off the temple walls.

Return to your hotel for an evening at leisure and dinner on your own.

Following breakfast, you will venture to the city of Angkor Thom including the renowned Bayon Temple built in the 12th Century, the Terrace of the Leper King and the Elephant Terrace, a sandstone wall covered with carved hunting scenes and three-headed elephants.

Continue to visit the un-restored temple of Ta Prohm which is famous for its forest atmosphere and enormous fig trees. This temple looks just as it did when the first European explorer arrived. It is also the location of many of the scenes filmed for Angelina Jolie’s huge blockbuster movie, Tomb Raider.

Lunch will be served at a local restaurant and after lunch visit Artisans d’Angkor, a school for underprivileged youth where they are taught the ancient crafts of wood and stone carving, creating lacquer ware, painting and silk weaving. Stroll through the school to watch young Cambodian artisans learning a trade and continuing age-old traditions. Many of the students’ crafts are offered for sale in the school store, ranging from beautiful silks and stunning lacquer ware to elegant stone and wood carvings. All the proceeds go towards the running of the school.

Continue to look around The Old Market (Phsar Chas) - the most popular with tourists and visitors, offering the greatest selection of souvenirs, textiles, handicrafts, statues, and curios of any of the traditional markets.

Back at the hotel, enjoy dinner and an Apsara cultural show

Overnight at the Borei Angkor Resort or similar hotel

Dependent on flight departure times from Siem Reap, enjoy breakfast at the hotel before checking out and settling any incidental charges that you may have incurred. Then transfer from your hotel to Siem Reap Airport for the flight back to Singapore.

Upon arrival you will be met and assisted on to your transfer from the airport to the ship for embarkation. Any excess luggage left in Singapore will be taken directly to the ship where you will be re-united with it once on board.

The sun can be quite intense and the air becomes hazier with the rising humidity. Though sometimes quite hot, the lack of rain still leaves this good time of year to visit the temples.

On this tour the key words are comfortable and casual. Remember we are visiting a foreign country and local dress codes should be observed.

*Please avoid uncovered shoulders, shorts or revealing clothing.

*Full length trousers or pants and/or skirts covering the knees are required to be worn when visiting Angkor Wat

Although dinners are not formal, you may want to bring something a bit dressier for that time of day.

Bring a hat or a head covering for sun protection and don’t forget your sunscreen, sunglasses and bug spray (you should have mosquito repellent for sunrise and sunset hours). It’s also a good idea to bring along a small packet of tissues or wet wipes. It is also suggested that guests wear flat comfortable walking shoes (not sandals or open toed shoes / flip flops). Guest are requested to take-off their foot wear and hats when visiting religious sites.

Guests are encouraged to bring US Dollars with them as they are most commonly accepted in Cambodia. The local currency is the Cambodian Riel. You should take smaller denominations of US Dollars with you, as they will keep you from ending up with a lot of local change that you will not be able to re-exchange back home.

Electricity:

Rooms are equipped with 220-volt, two-pin US style electrical outlets. We recommend travelling with your own adaptor kits should you have electronic devices.

Water: Avoid tap water and drinks with ice in them. Drink mineral water and drinks in sealed containers. Water at the hotels in both Singapore and Siem Reap is potable.

For a program of this length and nature, we suggest no more than one suitcase per person.

Luggage Weight Restrictions: 20kg (44lbs) - Light luggage would be most suited for this 3-night trip. Please note that the airlines allow a maximum of 1 checked suitcase (20 kg or 44lbs) and one small carry on. Any additional pieces will be in excess and fees will be paid to the airline at the guests’ expense. If you wish you can store excess luggage in Singapore at the hotel. It will be sent to the ship on Day 4. Please ensure that all excess bags are tagged properly and visibly with your full name and suite number on the ship. Pack accordingly as excess bags will be collected before you leave Singapore and you will be re-united with your luggage on day 4 on board the ship. Note that Regent Seven Seas Cruises, the hotel, nor our local ground operator are liable for any lost or missing items. We do not recommend leaving valuables behind or in checked luggage. You should keep any valuables with you in your carry-on hand bag.

Carriage of Portable Oxygen Concentrators (POC) or CPAP breathing machines on internal flights per airline regulations (subject to change as each airline has their own regulations)

1. Guests must obtain a Doctor’s Certificate mentioning their medical condition and the need to carry this equipment with them on their flights.

2. The certificate should have attached a picture of the equipment with its description/specifications especially with regards to the type of batteries used (lithium/dry or any other type)

3. These documents need to be sent to the Land Program Team via Reservations at RSSC at least one month prior to travel so that our local operator can begin the notification process with the airline(s).

4. Failure to comply with the above regulations may result in a denial of this equipment at the airport for which Regent Seven Seas Cruises nor our local ground operator be responsible for.

Documentation:

Guests must carry a valid passport with at least 6 months validity and have spare pages for the Cambodian Visa. Visas will be issued on arrival in Siem Reap.

VERY IMPORTANT – The name on your cruise booking, passport and any visas if required, must all be exactly the same for flight ticket purchase for this program otherwise guests may be denied travel by flight. Please ensure that all documents are identical in spelling to the names provided for your cruise reservation including first, middle and last name. Manifests generated by the cruise line must match your travel documents.

Failure to have the required documents ahead of time or incorrect names on flight tickets will result in either denial of travel or ticket re-purchase and guests will be responsible for any fees incurred.

  • Post-Cruise

Travel two hours from Sydney to the magical, World Heritage, Blue Mountains. Enjoy stunning vistas and breathtaking scenery as it unfolds around you when you visit Scenic World, Mt. Tomah Botanical Gardens and King’s Tableland. Also enjoy an informative and easy hike with a National Park Ranger who will relay Dreamtime stories of the Aboriginals who first settled in this area.

Disembark the ship in Sydney and meet your guide who will accompany you to the World Heritage listed Blue Mountains National Park.

Your first stop of the day is at Calmsley Hill; a working farm also home to Kangaroos, Emus, Wombats and Koalas. Enjoy morning tea here and time to wander at your leisure.

From Calmsley Hill, continue to ascend the Blue Mountains via the highway. At the western edge of the Blue Mountains, Kings Tableland affords one of the best views in the Blue Mountains and is home to Wentworth Falls. At the falls, your guide will take you on a 30-minute walk with stunning views of one of the most iconic views of the Jamison Valley.

From here, it is then on to Scenic World, renowned for providing the ultimate Blue Mountains adventure - from native birdlife and mountain fresh air, to breathtaking views of the World Heritage-listed region including the Three Sisters, Katoomba Falls and Jamison Valley. Your options here include taking a journey on the world's steepest incline railway, glide between clifftops on the glass-floored Skyway suspended 270 metres in the air, descend into the ancient Jamison Valley by Cableway or explore Jurassic rainforest along the 2.4 kilometres walkway - the longest boardwalk in Australia.

Rejoining your vehicle, continue towards Mt. Victoria and take in the views of the Bells Line of Road before enjoying a stroll in the beautiful English styled gardens at Mount Wilson. Sitting at 850 meters above sea level, the Mt. Tomah Botanical Gardens are the most elevated gardens in Australia.

Here you will first enjoy a relaxing one course light lunch with beverage of choice. After lunch, you can enjoy an expertly curated walk through the gardens and interpretation center.

After this amazing day, you will arrive at the historic Carrington Hotel. Set on top of the mountain ridges of Katoomba, this Grand Old Lady of the west has been welcoming guests to the Blue Mountains for decades.

The evening is at your leisure and dinner is on your own.

Begin your day with breakfast at your hotel prior to departing for a visit to the World Heritage-listed Blue Mountains National Park, home of the famous Three Sisters in Katoomba.

Upon arrival you will be joined by a Ranger who will share stories and explain the ancient traditions of one of the world’s oldest living cultures. You will even have a chance to taste the local Bushtucker. For those that want to stretch their legs, you can join the ranger for a short hike and take in the sights and smells of the Australian bush. Learn about bush foods and medicines and even taste the local Bushtucker which was used as sustenance by the Indigenous and Aboriginal Australians.

Return to your hotel via the picturesque town of Leura where you will have some time to explore the village at leisure before arriving back at the Carrington Hotel in the late afternoon. The evening is at your leisure and dinner is on your own.

Enjoy your final breakfast at the Carrington hotel before boarding your vehicle for the journey back to Sydney. En-route, travel past the beautiful orchards of Bilpin and Kurrajong and as you travel down the Mountains, phenomenal views of Sydney will unveil themselves.

Check in to your hotel which is located in the city center. The remainder of the day is at your leisure and dinner is on your own.

Note that check in time is at 3:00pm. Should the group arrive prior to this and your rooms are not ready, luggage can be stored with the Concierge, so you can proceed into the city to explore the sights or enjoy the facilities of the hotel until your room is ready. Explore the must-see icons of Sydney, including the famed opera house, Royal Botanic Garden and Sydney Tower, all of which will reveal the heart and soul of this extraordinary city.

Disembark the ship in Sydney and meet your guide at the pier before starting out on your day tour of the city. Begin with a drive through the city in a luxury coach, stopping for photos of Sydney Harbour Bridge and the Sydney Opera House. Still, the best and most historical vantage point is from Mrs. Macquarie’s Chair, a stone seat that convicts hand-carved out of a rock ledge in 1810 so that the governor’s wife could enjoy the ultimate harbor view.

You will then travel to the Royal Botanic Garden, the oldest botanic garden and scientific institution in Australia, for an Aboriginal Heritage Tour. As you walk the grounds, an Aboriginal guide will describe how the indigenous Cadigal people used plants for various purposes. You many also get the chance to sample bush foods.

Continuing on to the observation deck of Sydney Tower, you will enjoy a sky-high 360-degree view of the city and beyond to the Blue Mountains. Once the tallest building in Australia, the tower soars over the city, making it easy to identify key landmarks below.

Free time follows at beautiful Bondi Beach, a stretch of golden sand that is one of Sydney’s most visited beaches, especially among surfers. While exploring, you may wish to dine on your own at one of the restaurants that rims the beach.

One more stop will be made at The Gap on the return to the hotel. The views of the Tasman Sea from atop this oceanside cliff are spectacular.

You will then spend the evening at the hotel at your leisure with dinner on your own.

Following breakfast at the hotel, you will drive to the Taronga Zoo Sydney for an Aussie Walkabout Tour of the newly opened Nura Diya precinct focusing on indigenous species where your guide will explain the work of Taronga in relation to species preservation, rehabilitation and conservation.

Experience an open walkthrough of Kangaroo Country, Dingo Country. In Koala Country travel on the boardwalk built high in the treeline and spot koalas! Your guide will be able to answer any questions as you proceed through your walkabout. End tour at the Taronga Institute of Science & Learning where you will gain insight into the world of conservation science currently being undertaken at Taronga Zoo.

You will then proceed to the Sydney Opera House for an exclusive tour, during which you will learn about its extraordinary design and why UNESCO deemed it a World Heritage site. The opera house is so iconic that it is impossible to think of Sydney without this cultural center coming to mind.

As the hotel isn’t far off, you can choose to walk back on your own and explore other attractions on the way. The evening will be spent cruising through Sydney Harbour and enjoying a sumptuous dinner. The illuminated city will look absolutely radiant as you sail along the coast.

Upon returning to the hotel, the remainder of the evening will be at your leisure.

Enjoy breakfast at your hotel and then the remainder of the day is at your leisure to further enjoy Sydney’s sights and its surrounds. Perhaps make the 2-hour journey to the scenic Blue Mountains, hop on a Sydney Harbor water ferry and explore all the stops along its route or for the adventurous do the Bridge Climb on the Sydney Harbor Bridge. Aurora Expeditions announces expanded 2025-2026 season

CruiseMapper logo

Aurora Expeditions ( fleet ), a renowned Australian-owned adventure travel company celebrated for its immersive and responsible exploration, has unveiled its highly anticipated Antarctica 2025-2026 season, poised to be its most adventurous yet. This exciting season encompasses a total of 32 voyages spread across three purpose-built small ships: Greg Mortimer , Sylvia Earle , and the newly introduced Douglas Mawson.

Building upon its popular itineraries such as Antarctic Explorer and Spirit of Antarctica, this season introduces eight new routes that span across diverse regions, including East Antarctica, the Ross Sea, New Zealand Subantarctic Islands, and a captivating circumnavigation of Tasmania. What's more, two additional departure ports in Hobart Tasmania , and Dunedin New Zealand , have been added, thereby expanding the horizons for Antarctic enthusiasts.

A hallmark of this season is the array of adventure options available, allowing travelers to tailor their experiences according to their preferences. From the 'Fly the Drake' voyages to the all-inclusive activity voyages, guests are offered a myriad of choices to suit their thirst for exploration. Furthermore, the introduction of 36 single berths on the Douglas Mawson aims to accommodate the growing segment of solo travelers seeking Antarctic adventures.

Among the standout expeditions are Mawson’s Antarctica, which retraces the historic voyage of Sir Douglas Mawson's Australasian Antarctic Expedition (AAE) and delves into the remote beauty of East Antarctica. The Ross Sea Odyssey offers a journey back to the heroic age of Antarctic exploration, featuring encounters with diverse wildlife and extraordinary tales of human endeavor.

For those seeking an immersive experience, the Subantarctic Discovery voyage provides an opportunity to explore the rich biodiversity of Australia and New Zealand's subantarctic islands. Meanwhile, the Epic Antarctica: Crossing the 7th Continent expedition invites pioneers and history enthusiasts to embark on an epic journey that encompasses the wonders of the Ross Sea and the Antarctic Peninsula.

In addition, the Antarctica Active (All Inclusive Activities) voyages promise travelers a deeper engagement with the Antarctic environment, offering activities such as paddling among icebergs, snowshoe hikes, and even overnight camping on the ice.

Last but not least, the Coastal Tasmania: Untamed Wilderness expedition offers a unique blend of adventure and relaxation, allowing guests to explore Tasmania's pristine landscapes by day and retreat to their floating base camp each night.
