Visit the bamboo forest by rickshaw!
Start your trip at the Togetsukyo, the best spot to view the autumn foliage or the cherry blossoms on the mountain in the spring. Continue along the bustling main street and feel the change of atmosphere when you enter the bamboo forest, in which the popular Nonomiya Shrine is nestled. By passing on the rickshaw-only path of the bamboo forest, you can enjoy an unobstructed view of the year-round green bamboo. Before returning to the starting location, you will see the rural scenery preserved from the Edo period: fields and a cottage with thatched roof.

Q,What’s great about the rickshaw?
The comfortable ride on the rickshaw, with your eye level slightly higher than usual, will let you enjoy different views of the surrounding scenery. While you are traveling, you can enjoy the explanations given by our staff and the interesting conversations with them. In some courses, you can visit famous sights and take photos.
Q, Foreign languages ?
We have some English speaking staff at each location. We recommend you contact us as early as possible, as a lack of English speaking staff may occur during busy seasons. Please ask us about other languages.

Each rickshaw accommodates up to 2 passengers (Elementary school children and above).
Q, Rainy and snowy days?
The canvas roof and waterproof cover will protect you from rain and snow. (Forgive us if a playful wind gets you a little wet.)
***Expecting mothers in their first 16 weeks of pregnancy are not permitted to ride a rickshaw***
– children of 6 years and older are required to have a seat and will thus pay the same price as an adult.
– our seats measure 74cm (29. 1in) in width and can accommodate up to two adults side by side. – in case you should prefer to have one rickshaw to yourself, please contact us before booking!
– children 5 years and under can ride for free provided that they will sit on the lap of an adult (one child per adult = max 2 adults & 2 children per rickshaw)
- If a child 5 years will be using one of the two seats of the rickshaw, it must book as an adult.
– infants must be able to hold up their head by themselves.

What is a “ RICKSHAW ”?
Invented in Japan in the late 19th century, rickshaws spread to Asian countries where they are still in operation as a means of handy transportation. In Japan they had been replaced by automobiles, but have been revived for tourism and entertainment. They have been functionally modernized while maintaing a traditional design.

We had a wonderful rickshaw tour with Ebisuya Kyoto Arashiyama with Yagi and Takeda through the Bamboo forest, through the neighborhoods to end at the Togetsukyo Bridge. You can choose to ride for 12minutes to 2 hours. We chose 45 minutes ( 2 passengers, 13,500 yen). Both spoke limited english and took wonderful photos of this experience.
