10 Professional Ways to Say “Safe Travels”

enjoy travel email

Plenty of phrases work as interesting ways to say “goodbye” to someone.

Things like “safe travels” and “take care” are popular. Although, “safe travels” might not hold up as well in professional contexts.

So, it’s worth having a few alternatives prepared.

This article has gathered some synonyms to show you a better way to say “safe travels.”

Is It Polite to Say “Safe Travels”?

It is polite to say “safe travels.” Overall, it’s a very popular choice to use as a farewell when someone is going away for a while (i.e., on vacation).

However, it’s unprofessional in an email. You can say it in spoken situations, even if they’re formal, but we don’t recommend using it in emails.

It is appropriate to say “safe travels” as a polite farewell. So, feel free to use it in most situations (besides an email).

Here’s an example showing you how it works:

Safe travels , Jackie! I hope you have the best time out there with the others.

  • It’s very friendly and joyful.
  • It’s a great way to say goodbye to people you care about.
  • It’s a little too conversational for an email.
  • It doesn’t work unless someone is going traveling (meaning it’s limited).

Clearly, “safe travels” isn’t the best choice to include in a business email. Therefore, you should have a few professional alternatives ready to go.

Keep reading to learn what to say instead of “safe travels.” We will share some great formal synonyms to mix things up.

What to Say Instead of “Safe Travels”

  • Enjoy your trip
  • All the best for your trip
  • Enjoy your vacation
  • Have the best time away
  • Enjoy your time off
  • I hope you travel safely
  • See you after your travels
  • Best wishes on your travels
  • Make the most of your travels
  • Safe journey

1. Enjoy Your Trip

When people spend time away from work, it’s likely they’re doing so to enjoy themselves and relax. After all, work can get stressful and difficult. We all need to unload sometimes.

Therefore, “enjoy your trip” is a great formal alternative to “safe travels.” It shows you hope someone has a good time away from work.

We recommend using it when emailing clients . This phrase works well when your client is about to leave on holiday. It’ll put them in a good mood (providing they read your email before leaving).

Check out the following example while you’re here:

Dear Daniel, Thank you so much for getting back to me on such short notice. I hope things go well while you’re away. Enjoy your trip , Bradley Smith

2. All the Best for Your Trip

You can always use “all the best” at the end of an email. It’s a very common way to sign off a formal email . But you don’t have to stop there.

Try adding “for your trip” to the end of it when someone is going on vacation. “All the best for your trip” is a polite and friendly phrase that works as an email closer.

It shows you wish someone the best time away . Again, work can be stressful. So, any time people get the chance to get away from it should be the best time away!

Here’s an email example that should help you understand it:

Dear Duncan, I appreciate that you’re out of the office now until the 25th. However, I would like to say thank you for all your help. All the best for your trip , Dean Watmore

3. Enjoy Your Vacation

Simplicity is key in emails. Overly complicated language or long-form sentences can make your emails undesirable to read. People may even skip over them.

So, why not keep your synonyms simple like “enjoy your vacation.” It’s a better way to say “safe travels” that keeps things friendly and formal .

You can use it regardless of the connection you have with the recipient.

For instance, it works well when emailing employees . If they’ve booked some vacation time, use it when sending your last email to them.

We also recommend reviewing this email sample:

Dear Ailee, This is great news. I knew you were working on something big for us. I’m so happy you’re on our team. Enjoy your vacation , Brent Fikowski

4. Have the Best Time Away

Another great way to close an email is “have the best time away.” It shows you how to wish someone safe travels in a more polite and formal way.

It’s best to use this when emailing your boss . It keeps things civil and friendly , allowing you to wish them well when you know they have time off booked.

It’s highly effective in most formal emails, though. It doesn’t just have to work for your boss.

As long as you know someone has booked some time away, feel free to include it at the end of an email.

Don’t forget to review this sample email:

Dear Miss Adams, Thank you for reaching out to update me. Of course, I’ll let you know as soon as I have more information to share. Have the best time away , Brian Donovan

5. Enjoy Your Time Off

“Enjoy your time off” is a formal way to say “safe travels.” It works really well when someone has booked vacation time at work, and you want to wish them well.

Generally, this phrase works better when emailing employees . It’s quite a polite and friendly alternative, showing that you’re happy to grant them time off.

After all, if you’re the boss, employees usually have to ask you for vacation time. So, you’ll know when it’s coming up. If you remember it and wish them well, you’ll sound like you care more.

This email example will help you understand it better:

Dear Melissa, I will let you know as soon as I find out more about your application. I have high hopes for you. Enjoy your time off , Brenda Carlisle

6. I Hope You Travel Safely

“Safe travels” in itself isn’t a bad way to wish someone well before a trip. However, it’s too informal. A formal rewording should help to make it more appropriate in formal emails.

You can reword it to say “I hope you travel safely.” This is much more professional and works well when wishing someone well before a vacation.

Try it as an email closer when speaking to coworkers . It shows you want them to enjoy themselves while they’re away and get to their destination unscathed.

We also recommend reviewing the following example:

Dear Kylie, Of everyone in the office, you certainly deserve vacation time the most. So, I hope you enjoy yourself out there. I hope you travel safely , Jon Wells

7. See You After Your Travels

When someone goes on vacation, it’s usually only for a week or two at a time. Therefore, they’ll be back at work in no time. So, you’ll see them again soon.

You can use “see you after your travels” as another way to say “safe travels.” It suggests that someone is going away for a few weeks , but you plan on seeing them after they return.

For instance, you can use it when colleagues book time off . It shows you’re happy to see them getting away from work and can’t wait to hear about what they get up to on their return.

Here’s a useful example to show you how it works:

Dear Maria, I have contacted our client to see what they want to do with the system. I’ll be in touch when they reply. See you after your travels , Ben White

8. Best Wishes on Your Travels

Generally, “best wishes” is used as a formal email closer. It’s similar to writing things like “all the best” and “best regards.”

You can extend it, though. Add “on your travels” to create “best wishes on your travels.”

This is a very polite and friendly way to close an email. It shows you hope someone makes the most of their time off .

Check out this example if you still need help:

Dear Mitchell, This is the only time I can arrange the meeting. Don’t worry; I’ll provide notes for you on your return. Best wishes on your travels , George Marshland

9. Make the Most of Your Travels

It’s all too easy to get caught up at work and let stress consume you. It then becomes easy to also forget to take the time to enjoy yourself when you book time off work.

However, with “make the most of your travels,” this problem tends to disappear. It’s a great way to close a friendly and formal email .

We recommend using it when you want someone to have the best vacation . It reminds them to enjoy themselves because they won’t be at work for a few days.

Perhaps this email sample will also help you:

Dear Bryan, Opportunities like this don’t come up often. I’ll let you rest for now, but we’re going to need to work together when you return. Make the most of your travels , Melanie Beau

10. Safe Journey

The problem with “safe travels” is that “travels” makes it a little too conversational. You can eliminate this issue by switching “travels” with “journey.”

Now, “safe journey” is a more professional alternative. It helps you to sound more polite and respectful in an email and is a better way to say “safe travels.”

You can use it when emailing employees who are planning a trip. It’s highly effective and allows you to retain a formal tone.

Here’s a great email example to help you with it:

Dear Stuart, Thank you so much for your reply. I appreciate you’re busy trying to sort out your trip, but I’ll have a few answers for you when you return. Safe journey , April O’Neill

I recently booked a hire car for my UK holiday.

I recently booked a hire car for my holiday in the UK. Flying in from Australia I would need a car available at Heathrow and I booked one through EnjoyTravel. I later realised that I would prefer an automatic car rather than the manual booked. I called EnjoyTravel and spoke to Sonya. She was very helpful, assisting me to book an automatic car and arranged the cancellation and deposit refund related to the earlier booking. Thanks Sonya.

Lacks transparency during the booking process

I just reserved a car on that website and encountered several issues: 1. I discovered that I have to pay an Out of Hours Fee, but only after receiving the voucher. There was no warning or indication of this during the booking process. 2. The voucher specifies Out of Hours information for 2021, 2022, and 2023, but there is no mention of 2024 and 2025. 3. The amount of the Out of Hours Fee is not provided anywhere. Overall, this website lacks transparency and fails to provide accurate information before and after booking. I have reached out to customer service and am currently awaiting a response. I will update this post. ***UPDATE: After my request, customer service contacted the local car rental company and I received a satisfactory response. All's well that ends well!

We were given the wrong information as exactly where to greet the car supplier, LagoRent. Instead we took advantage of our already included Jet2holidays.com hotel transfer. When Nathalie heard about our predicament she contacted LagoRent whose representative was waiting in a different nearby location to greet us! In the end, two really polite young lads delivered our car direct to the hotel after contacting us by phone. So, all's well that ends well. Full marks in the end to everyone involved. Jack & Annette

Be careful! I contracted a rental car company in Turkey (DMR Car - Rent a Car) through the Enjoy Travel platform, but the rental company is a scam. They haven't returned my 500 euros deposit since Jan/24. The DMR Car sent a fake proof of transfer to Enjoy Travel, and now they are washing their hands about my case. I sent a copy of my credit card statement, but they prefer to trust the scam company. I am spending hours and hours in order to get my money back, but I will not give up.

Fake reviews

Zero customer service and a list of repeating fake positive reviews! Took a 5% fee for booking without advising & unable to get any receipt from them for my business expenses. Have looked at reviews at various times over past 6 months and the same positive reviews are posted with previous week date on them - all fakes.

Please note all reviews on this site are from customers who have used our service. TrustPilot have strict rules to deal with fake reviews.

Couldn’t give a zero so one star it is.

Couldn’t give a zero so one star it is. Booked car hire to pick up at 12:00 on Wednesday and drop off the following day at 14:00 This is two days rental as it’s over 24 hours so I’m happy with that as it suits my hire period. I arrived at the car hire office to find out they have lunch from 12:00-14:00, nowhere on any paperwork or during the booking process did it state this. We waited nearly 2 hours for a member of staff to return from their break to issue us a car. So approximately 14:00 we drove off, I returned the car the next day around 14:00 so used the car for less than 24 hours but enjoy travel refuse to refund the second day even though I couldn’t collect the car at the time I selected as the office was shut. If it said the office opens at 14:00 I would’ve booked it for one day as I knew I’d be back in time. Horrendous customer service with zero explanation as to why they won’t refund the second day even though Enterprise said it was within 24 hours so I will be refunded. Steer clear unless you want unclear instructions and poor customer service.

Unclear instructions and misinformation provided

Company gave incorrect pickup location. Said it was Heathrow airport. Turns out it was a hotel which required 2 trains and a bus to get to! They also said we can use a debit card for the deposit. Wrong! Because we didn't have a credit card under the driver's name, it cost is an extra £539 PER CAR non refundable! More than the actual booking cost. Has ruined our holiday completely. When contacted the company, they didn't even apologise for the inconvenience but rather told us the information was available in section 5.3 on page 4 of a lengthy terms and conditions! They also sent a screenshot of their policy in which it states a debit card can be used! When I asked them about this, and why they list the pickup location as Heathrow, they stopped replying. Unbelievable customer service. Stay far away Edit; even after this review still not a single apology for their unclear Information. Expecting a customer to read terms and conditions after providing Heathrow as the pickup location. And then also staying a debit card is sufficient when it is not. Fact of the matter is incorrect information was provided and no apologies or refund is provided shows this company lacks organisation and customer service. Stay away. Appalled. As a business owner I couldn't imagine treating customers in this manner.

Date of experience : 03 May 2024

Thank you for the review. The rental terms were agreed online and were sent to you via email once booked. This email was in your possesion for 1 month before collection and comes with a handy checklist which points to the most commonly questioned parts of the agreement. One of these items is accepted payment methods. In the terms it states the cards accepted for the car rental and those accepted for the deposit/excess. It clearly lists only credit cards in theis section. I personally checked this before replying to be 100% sure. In terms of location information, when booking we show if the rental company is on-site or off-site to allow the customer to make a choice based on their needs and their budget. The more detailed collection instructions are on the rental documents sent after booking, you again had these for 1 month prior to travel. With the rental provider it states clear instructions to catch a bus to the rental depot, it certainly is not 2 trains and bus. Please note we are a booking website, all the information provided is given to us by the rental provider, it is our job to ensure this is displayed and sent to you. This is done on the website and email and we also provide as stated reminders in the form of a checklist and prompts to read and understand the terms. If you had any questions around the terms we would have happily answered them.

Knicks fought until there was ‘nothing left to give’ in bitter end to captivating season.

Thanks for contacting us. We've received your submission.

By the end, most of the faithful were still in the house, even if they couldn’t wait for the final buzzer to put them all out of their misery. Josh Hart drew his sixth foul, three minutes before the end. The Knicks were down by 17. The season was inching toward the abyss. And still they stood. Still they roared.

They cheered for Hart, yes, who grimaced his way through 37 minutes with an abdominal injury that, in January, would probably keep him out three weeks. But they were also cheering for his buddy, Jalen Brunson, who left the game for good with 3:02 to go in the third, his hand fractured, his season over 15 minutes earlier than the rest, one last sling to add to the pile of casts, trusses and walking boots.

The Knicks Jalen Brunson left the game early with a broken hand.

And they were cheering for this run, for this ride, for this season that ended in the crush of a 130-109 loss to the Pacers , who pitched a near-perfect game, Game 7 at Madison Square Garden. They started making shots and kept making shots, 76 percent of them in the first half and 67.1 percent for the game.

(And consider the irony: a team so deeply forged by the culture of Villanova ran into a team that shot almost as well as Villanova famously did in 1985, when it took down Georgetown.)

At that clip, it might not have mattered if Julius Randle and Mitchell Robinson were dressed, if OG Anunoby could’ve chipped in more than his five minutes and five points, his presence a momentary injection of inspiration. At that clip, it might not have mattered if Clyde Frazier, Bernard King and Patrick Ewing were dressed, too.

“It was a battle all year,” Knicks coach Tom Thibodeau said. “There was nothing left to give at the end.”

The Pacers don’t have to apologize for winning this game, not the way they played, not the way they took it to the Knicks right from the start. And the Knicks don’t have to apologize for losing it. Look: they aren’t the first team whose destiny was derailed by injuries. The Bucks lost Giannis Antetokounmpo the last two years. The Nets lost two-thirds of their Big 3 in 2021. Celtics fans, for all their banners, still lament 1973 when they lost John Havlicek to a ruined arm. There are plenty of others.

“It’s all part of the game,” Brunson said.

“It wasn’t in the cards for us,” Hart said.

OG Anunoby sits on the bench after giving it a go in the early minutes of Game 7

Still, it’s going to be difficult to look back at this season — in a few weeks, when looking back won’t hurt as much — and not wonder how things might’ve shaken out if they could have kept everyone together.

As much as New York fell hard for this team, the truth is they fell hard for each other, too. They kept picking each other up. They won 50 games and a playoff round despite not being whole for one day after Robinson went down Dec. 9. And their coach certainly fell hard for this team, which bought what he was selling right from Day 1.

“I’m disappointed that we aren’t going to play anymore together,” Thibodeau said. “It’s a great group to be around and they gave everything they had.”

Said Brunson: “We didn’t use excuses and we kept finding ways. That was our mindset. I’m so glad we had that mindset. The outcome isn’t what we wanted but the way we fought … it was awesome.”

And then: “I love this group of guys that we have.”

Josh Hart played through injury in Game 7.

There was one final rush when the Knicks invited one last flash of thunder. They sliced a 22-point deficit to 15 by halftime. Across the first four minutes of the third they chopped that to six, 73-67, and when the Pacers answered Donte DiVincenzo knocked down one of his nine 3-pointers to cut it to 77-70, 6:43 left in the third.

Then Myles Turner turned the ball over and the Garden reached a level of frenzy that tried to levitate the Knicks all the way back. But Deuce McBride turned the ball over, the first of three Knicks turnovers in three possessions that turned the game sideways one last time — especially the middle one.

That’s when he surrendered the ball to Tyrese Haliburton, who laid in two of his 26 points and as he did jammed Brunson’s hand. It took a few minutes before Brunson realized it was worse than that. By the time he walked back to the dressing room for good, the lead was 18, and the rest of the day was an agonizing walk down the gangplank for the 19,812 who tried so desperately to believe.

“The fans deserve so much more than we were able to do,” said Brunson, who wasn’t in the mood to grade the season on a curve.

Knicks guard Donte DiVincenzo reacts to the Game 7 loss.

“Did we win a championship?” he asked. “Did we get close?”

For the 51st consecutive year the answer to the first question was “no,” and for the 50th time in 51 years the answer to the second was also “no.” It’s OK to be bitter about how this ended. When you want something so badly — and all of New York wanted a few swings against the Celtics — it doesn’t digest easily. It was still a hell of a run. Still a hell of a ride.

Excellent Customer Service

Nathalie was really efficient to deal with when I changed my car booking from June to October. We communicated over live web chat and there was one item she needed to check specifically and she emailed me back to clarify it.

As soon as the rental is finished, I will update the post again.
