Live reviews

Although Stephen Lynch is predominantly a stand-up comedian, he’s also a great musician. His guitar playing skills were fantastic, a hidden talent that I didn’t know he possessed, and his song writing skills are off the chart. It’s incredibly clever the way that he can morph from comedy to sincerity, bringing his audience with him smoothly, almost so you don’t notice the transition until it’s happened.

Although it was a music concert I went to see, he did tell various comedic stories before each song, which some people seemed to have a problem with, but I simply thought it added to the fun and eccentricity of the night. He’s a great comedian, so why not show off your talents and entertain the audience. Everyone was howling with laughter, so it seemed to be the right move from him! Lynch played a few tracks from each album (all the well known songs of course, Half a Man etc), and then also did some newer ones unreleased which was really exciting to witness. The way which he interacts with his audience is something that many other musicians try to achieve for years, but to him it comes naturally. This was one of the most enjoyable, fun, high energy concert’s I’ve been to in a very long time. If you like great music and a good laugh, this is for you.

STEPHEN LYNCH: THE TIME MACHINE TOUR

September 30, 2021 @ 8:00 pm - 11:00 pm.

stephen lynch tour 2024

Stephen Lynch is an American actor, best known for his roles in The Usual Suspects, Bio-Dome, and The Flintstones: Viva Rock Vegas. He comes from a high-powered showbiz family, which includes brothers Alec, Daniel and wait a minute this is Stephen Baldwin’s bio- oops. My bad. Stephen LYNCH is a songwriter, comedian and Tony award-nominated actor. His songs are known for their haunting melodies, complex and Lord-pleasing chord structures and insightful lyrics, often exploring the universal themes of heartbreak, family strife, and forgetting one’s safeword during a particularly brutal S&M session.

Lynch has released four studio albums, four live albums and two concert specials, including Live at the El Rey in 2004 and his latest, Hello, Kalamazoo! in 2016. His most recent recording, the double live/studio album My Old Heart was released in summer of 2019 and reached the #1 spot on Billboard’s Comedy charts. He also was a contestant on 2013’s All-Star Celebrity Apprentice dammit that’s Baldwin again- sorry.

As the result of the duality of his act, Lynch often plays venues more often suited to music than comedy, eventually graduating from the bars and VFW halls of the early days to locations such as Town Hall, Shepherd’s Bush Empire and the esteemed Carnegie Hall. He gained great national exposure with his Comedy Central Presents special in 2000, one of the highest rated in the network’s history. He has made appearances on Comedy central’s Premium Blend, The World Comedy Tour and The World Stands Up and has performed at the prestigious Just for Laughs Comedy Festival in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. He starred in his second Comedy Central Presents in 2008.

In April 2006, Lynch starred as Robbie Hart in the Broadway musical The Wedding Singer, which ran on Broadway from April 27, 2006 through December 31, 2006 at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre. This musical production was based on the 1998 New Line Cinema film The Wedding Singer starring Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore. The musical, Lynch’s Broadway debut, co-starred Tony winner Laura Benanti in the role of Julia Sullivan, played by Barrymore in the film. The April 2006 opening followed a successful preview run in Seattle at The 5th Avenue Theatre which ran from January 31 through February 19. His performance has earned him nominations for Tony, Drama League and Drama Desk awards.

Lynch performed on his first European tours in 2008, headlining concerts in England, Sweden, Norway, the Netherlands, Finland, Ireland, Scotland and Germany. All but two of the seventeen shows sold out, despite never playing a majority of the markets. Lynch attributes this success to YouTube.

His newfound European popularity resulted in appearances at six festivals in August and September 2008. He played in the UK at the Reading and Leeds Festivals, headlining the Alternative stage at each site. He also appeared at the Lowlands Festival in the Netherlands on August 17, Edinburgh Edge Festival (during Fringe) on August 24, The Pimm’s Summerfest in Holland Park, London on August 28, and Bulmer’s Comedy Festival in Dublin at the Olympia Theater on September 1 and 2. He returned to Europe in Fall, 2009 and toured the UK in March 2010, headlining London’s Brixton Academy on March 5, 2010. Lynch’s second studio album, 3 Balloons, was released on March 10, 2009.

Lion, Lynch’s first double live/studio recording was released in November, 2012. He toured the world behind that album with his band, consisting of Rod Cone, Charlie King and singer/songwriter Courtney Jaye. They would hone the act that would eventually make up 2016’s Hello, Kalamazoo! special.

In 2017 Lynch did a tour of the United States to test out the material that would end up on My Old Heart. In 2018 he recorded the album and embarked on two European tours. He is currently writing and recording his next album. He does not know Stephen Baldwin.

Vaccine Policy and Mask Mandate for Park West

VACCINE POLICY

With our return to live concerts and our commitment to producing safe events, all patrons will need to show proof of vaccination (must be 2 weeks past final dose) or a negative COVID-19 test within 72 hours from the time of entry along with a government issued photo ID. Proof of vaccination can only include a CDC COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card, a clear photocopy or digital photo of the CDC card. Fans who have either (1) a medical condition, or (2) a closely-held religious belief that prevents vaccination, can still attend the concert by showing proof of a negative COVID-19 test performed within the previous 72 hours that matches the government issued photo ID. Taking this step helps to ensure the safety of our guests, staff, and the artists, and implementing this simple measure minimizes risk and the spread of the virus. We encourage you to get vaccinated if you have not already!

MASK MANDATE

Following updated guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and based on Chicago’s current local COVID-19 data, the Chicago Department of Public Health (CDPH) is requiring that everyone age two or older, regardless of vaccination status, wear masks in public indoor settings, effective Friday, August 20, 2021. A non-vented N95 mask or other well-fitted mask is strongly recommended to provide maximum protection. We will not allow a scarf, ski mask, balaclava, bandana, turtleneck, collar, single layer of fabric, or any mask that has an unfiltered one-way exhaust valve.

COVID-19 WARNING

An inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 exists in any place where people gather. COVID-19 is an extremely contagious disease that can lead to severe illness and death. You assume all risks, hazards, and dangers arising from or relating in any way to the risk of contracting COVID-19 or any other communicable disease or illness, or a bacteria, virus or other pathogen capable of causing a communicable disease or illness, whether occurring before, during, or after the event, however caused or contracted, and voluntarily waive all claims and potential claims against Jam Productions, Ltd. and the Park West (including Park West Inc., 322 W. Armitage Associates L.P., Standing Room Only, Inc. and Attitude Adjustment) relating to such risks.

Stephen Lynch: The Time Machine Tour

Musical comedy superstar

Whether he’s singing an ode to “queer tattoos”, telling his potential paramour all the things he  won’t  be doing for her (he ain’t fightin’ no Lion), or lamenting his new vegan lifestyle (“Tofurkey? His unique blend of musical based comedy has earned him fiercely loyal fans around the world who live to experience his sold-out live shows, six best-selling CDs, his RIAA-certified Gold DVD and his top-rated Comedy Central Specials.

Stephen moved to New York in 1996, with the goal of becoming a performer. While temping during the day, he wrote songs and performed at clubs and underground music venues around Manhattan at night. Stephen quickly developed a devoted fan base and caught the attention of Comedy Central, who invited him to record his 1st cable special in 2000. That special became one of their highest rated shows in the series, almost unheard of for an unknown. His second Comedy Central special debuted in January 2008, with similarly high ratings.

In 2006, Stephen Lynch stepped onto the Broadway stage for the first time in the title role of  The Wedding Singer . His performance earned him nominations for some of the highest honors in American Theatre including the Drama League Award for Distinguished Performance, the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Actor in a Musical, as well as the highly coveted Tony Award for Best Performance by a Leading Actor in a Musical.

Stephen’s albums 'A Little Bit Special', 'Superhero', 'The Craig Machine', and '3 Balloons' have sold hundreds of thousands of copies around the world. His first DVD, 'Live at the El Rey', was certified Gold by RIAA. Stephen has toured with some of the biggest names in comedy, including Lewis Black and the late Mitch Hedberg. He’s also headlined his own sold out shows throughout the United States, Australia and Europe, where it’s been said he’s “the Beyonce of Scandinavia.”

When not touring the globe for ardent and enthusiastic fans, Stephen divides his time between New York and Michigan with his wife.

Dean, Jayapal Urge Administration to Help Prevent Assault on Rafah

May 1 , 2024.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congresswoman Madeleine Dean (PA-04) and Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal (WA-07) led a letter to the Biden Administration to use all tools possible to dissuade the Israeli government from moving forward with an offensive invasion into Rafah. The letter was also signed by  55 additional Members.

“We write with urgency to say: an offensive invasion into Rafah by Israel in the upcoming days is wholly unacceptable,”  the Members wrote. “Despite [...] dire circumstances, the Israeli government is reportedly on the verge of a full-scale offensive on Rafah. An Israeli offensive in Rafah risks the start of yet another escalatory spiral, immediately putting the region back on the brink of a broader war that neither Israel nor the United States can afford.”

Before the horrific October 7th terrorist attacks by Hamas on Israel, 280,000 Palestinians lived in Rafah. Now roughly 1.4 million people are sheltering in Rafah after being displaced. This overcrowding has caused further suffering through scarcity of food, water, and medicine.

“We urge you to invoke existing law and policy to immediately withhold certain offensive military aid to the Israeli government, including aid sourced from legislation already signed into law, in order to preempt a full-scale assault on Rafah,” the Members continued. “If the Israeli government will not uphold international law and protect civilians, then the United States must act to protect innocent life. We urge you to continue your work toward achieving a lasting ceasefire that will bring hostages home and build a path toward safety and security for all.”

The letter was also signed by Becca Balint (VT-At Large), Nanette Barragán (CA-44), Donald S. Beyer Jr. (VA-08), Earl Blumenauer (OR-03), Suzanne Bonamici (OR-01), Jamaal Bowman (NY-16), Cori Bush (MO-01), André Carson (IN-07), Greg Casar (TX-35), Joaquin Castro (TX-20), Judy Chu (CA-28), Gerald Connolly (VA-11), Joe Courtney (CT-02), Jasmine Crockett (TX-30), Danny K. Rory mcilroy, shane lowry win 2024 zurich classic of new orleans in playoff, share this article.

stephen lynch tour 2024

The cream finally rose to the top at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans.

In a city where celebrity chefs like the late Paul Prudhomme and Emeril Lagasse rule, past major winners and European Ryder Cup stars Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry teamed up to take the title with a par on the first hole of a sudden-death playoff on Sunday in Avondale, Louisiana.

McIlroy, No. 2 in the world, and Lowry, No. 39, needed a birdie at 18 to finish with a 72-hole total of 25-under 263 and force a playoff with Chad Ramey and Martin Trainer who finished their round two hours and 59 minutes earlier after shooting a tournament-tying 9-under 63 in the alternate-shot format employed in the final round.

McIlroy earned his 25 th career Tour title, tying Tommy Armour, Johnny Miller and Macdonald Smith for 23 rd on the all-time Tour wins list.

“To win any PGA Tour event is very cool, but to do it with one of your closest friends, we’ve known each other for a long, long time, probably like over 20 years, so to think about where we met and where we’ve come from, to be on this stage and do this together, really, really cool journey that we’ve been a part of, and yeah, just awesome to be able to do it alongside this guy,” McIlroy said.

On paper, the playoff was a mismatch of epic proportions. Ramey, 31, entered the week ranked 233 rd in the world and outside the top 125 in the FedEx Cup standings, his lone win at the opposite-field Corales Puntacana Championship in 2022.

Trainer, 33, won the 2019 Puerto Rico Open but has struggled so much in the ensuing years that he considered finding another line of work. He entered the week ranked 387 th in the world and 171 st in the FedEx Cup standings. With both in need of a partner last year, they joined forces and recorded a top-10 finish at the Tour’s lone official team event during the FedEx Cup season.

“So decided to run it back this year, and I feel like we have a good thing going,” Trainer said.

On a windswept Sunday, they combined to make 11 birdies, including at the first five holes on the back nine and take the clubhouse lead.

“We just had it going so well,” Trainer said. “I don’t want to take all the credit for the putting because Chad also putted extremely well, but it worked out so good.”

Ramey agreed that Trainer’s putter was deadly and the birdies kept piling up.

“I finally had to putt on hole 13 or 14 and I hadn’t putted since the second hole,” Ramey said. “I was just trying to give Martin some good looks.”

Then they had time for lunch and waited as Ryan Brehm and Mark Hubbard (69), who finished third, gave it their best shot. Hubbard credited a text from his brother on Saturday night that helped pump him up about playing in the second-to-last group with McIlroy and Lowry, telling him to treat it as his personal Ryder Cup. “This is about the closest thing certainly that I’ve had so far in my career. I definitely took that to heart and tried to be really grateful for that opportunity today to kind of feel what that might feel like, playing against an all-Euro team and that crazy format. Alternate shot is just so stressful,” Hubbard said.

Narrowly missing out on joining the playoff when Brehm’s 10-foot birdie putt from the fringe at the last burned the right edge couldn’t spoil what still amounted to a successful partnership.

“We’re still going to party tonight,” Hubbard added.

For much of the day, it looked like 54-hole leaders Zac Blair and Patrick Fishburn, who grew up playing together in Ogden, Utah, and had been teammates in junior high, high school and and college at BYU, would both be celebrating their first Tour victories. However, they made a double bogey at a par 3 on each side, the latter at the 17 th hole and it sealed their fate, a fourth-place tie (72).

McIlroy and Lowry entered the day trailing by two and their hopes for wearing the belts awarded to the champions became dicier after making bogey on two of their first three holes. But they bounced back with four birdies in a five-hole stretch starting at the seventh and played the last 12 holes in 5 under.

“It showed a lot about our characters and how much we wanted to win this thing,” Lowry said.

None of it came easily, including at 13 when McIlroy had to play from 111 yards in a sand-filled divot at 13 and chunked it. Still, they salvaged par. At 14, McIlroy drew a beauty at the par 3 that stopped 10 feet past the hole and twirled his club in satisfaction, but Lowry, who switched putters this week and admitted he never fully trusted the club, misread the putt. At 16, McIlroy drove into a fairway bunker but Lowry wedged from 133 yards to 10 feet – “pulled it a bit,” he said – and McIlroy clenched his fist when the birdie putt dropped to make it a three-way tie at the top. Just when they seem poised to put the tournament away, Lowry missed the 17 th green wide right and they failed to rescue par and dropped one stroke behind again. But McIlroy’s pitch from left of the green at the par-5 18 th  hopped and stopped 3 feet from the hole for the tying birdie and a round of 4-under 68.

The playoff, which returned to 18, lasted just one hole because Trainer duffed a chip for his team’s third shot and after making putt after putt all day, he failed to convert a 6-foot par putt to keep their dream of winning alive. Trainer looked up to the sky in dismay, knowing he had pushed the putt right of the hole.

“Golf is hard, and sometimes it doesn’t go your way,” he said.

It marked the first win of the Tour season for McIlroy, who had recorded just one top-10 finish to date at the Valero Texas Open earlier this month, and the first victory for Lowry since claiming the 2019 British Open. (The latter also became exempt for the final three Signature events.)

“We felt like coming into the week that we both could do with a big jump in the FedEx Cup, and we both said at the start of the week, let’s go and get 400 points each. That’s what we’ve done, and I nearly feel a little bit bad taking them because Rory carried me a lot of the way. But yeah, they’re mine, and they’re not going away,” Lowry said.

From playing together in junior golf to the Ryder Cup and now winners at the Zurich Classic, Lowry and McIlroy have shared a special bond.

“Anytime this man wants to partner with me, I’ll be happy to do so,” Lowry said.

“I’d say we’re going to come back and defend next year; what do you think?” McIlroy said to his partner.

“I hope so,” Lowry said. “I’ll be here.”
