‘Scream Tour ’23 Next Up!’ Tour Dates Announced, WanMor to Perform

The Scream Tour is making a comeback. The upcoming Scream Tour ’23 Next Up! will be hosted by Kayla Nicole and will feature emerging R&B group WanMor at the forefront of its revival.

That Girl Lay Lay, Young Dylan and Papa Jay are among the other music and acting sensations are scheduled to perform on stage.

The tour, powered by Black Promoters Collective, will kick off at Bojangles Coliseum on Aug. 18 in Charlotte, North Carolina. From there, they’ll play in venues across the nation in other major U.S. cities such as Baltimore, Detroit, Atlanta, St. Louis, Los Angeles, and Houston. 

The tour will conclude at Lakefront Arena on Oct. 8 in New Orleans, Louisiana. 

Additional acts on the lineup include Lay Bankz , D STURDY, Citi Limitz , Rocco Lupo and special guest Kid Saiyan a.k.a. King Harris . DJs Amira & Kayla and DJ Sophia Rocks will be curating the tour with their sounds.

Presale tickets will be available Friday, July 7, at 10 a.m. ET with the code: BPC. General on-sale begins Monday, July 10, at 10 a.m. ET. 

The Scream Tour began in 2001 and continued with several installments throughout the 2000s and early 2010s. It featured then-rising stars such as Bow Wow, B2K, Marques Houston, Mario, Mindless Behavior, OMG Girlz, Jacob Latimore, and others.

Circling back to WanMor. The group, signed to Mary J. Blige’s Beautiful Life Productions , will be out behind their self-titled EP , released in February. The project included their debut single “Every Pretty Girl In The City.” It also included the King Combs-assisted remix , as well as their latest single “ Mine .” 

Amid the latter track being widely played on urban radio and landing their debut placement on Billboard, WanMor dropped an alternative version . It was accompanied with an official video .

WanMor was recently nominated for Best New Artist at the 2023 BET Awards.

The millennial Scream Tour franchise is being reimagined for 2023, but with young, burgeoning artists of today. Presented by R&B group WanMor — sons of Boyz II Men’s Wanyá Morris — the quartet is bringing some of Gen Z’s favorite artists to the stage this August.

The tour, powered by Black Promoters Collective, is set to kick off August 18 in Charlotte before concluding in New Orleans. Other major stops include Philadelphia, Chicago, Detroit, Atlanta, New York, St. Louis, Miami, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Dallas and Houston.

Scream Tour’ 23 Next Up will give fans of WanMor a chance to see the group’s skills live , as well as recruit newer fans who are curious about the next wave in R&B. The tour, similar to the “ Scream Tours ” of the early 2000’s that included B2K, Chris Brown, Bow Wow and more, will give a modern feel to the golden nostalgia that many 30-somethings of today remember.

The brothers, who all have the same government, but different nicknames include: Wanyá Morris II, III, IV and V, a.k.a Big Boy, 18, Chulo, 17, Tyvas, 16, and Rocco, 12. The group is the first act signed to Mary J. Blige’s 300 Ent. imprint, Beautiful Life Productions, and recently earned a nod at the 2023 BET Awards for Best Group.

WanMor Is The New Wave, Not A Second Coming

“There’s been so much conversation about the state of R&B, and the next generation of R&B artists. This generation has been giving us great R&B, and that feeling, that soul and that sound remains in our DNA,” Blige expressed in a statement upon signing the boys. “When we heard WanMor sing, we knew we could stop looking. They are IT! Supporting and cultivating true R&B talent is why I started Beautiful Life Productions, and I couldn’t be more proud to do this with these young men.”

There’s a new generation of artists emerging on the music scene who are eager to introduce themselves to larger audiences. The latest run of the Scream Tour is being repurposed and presented by R&B group WanMor . Young Dylan, That Girl Lay Lay, Papa Jay, Lay Bankz, D Sturdy, Citi Limits, Rocco Lupo and T.I’s son, King Harris, will also perform on the tour.

The upcoming tour’s first showing is scheduled for Aug. 18 in Charlotte, North Carolina. It will push to Philadelphia, Chicago, Detroit, Atlanta, New York, St. Louis, Miami, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Dallas and Houston.

Black Promoters Collective hired social media influencer and entrepreneur Kayla Nicole to host the 22 performances and hired DJs Amira, Kayla and Sophia Rocks.

Like many before, the Scream Tour aims to unite loyal fans while introducing fresh faces. In the 2000s, the original nostalgic music event once hosted prominent performers like Chris Brown, B2K, Bow Wow and many more acts die-hard millennial music fans go wild over.

Now, Scream Tour 23 Next Up will give fans of WanMor a chance to see their live performance skills, personalities and swag in person. The brothers are sons of Boyz II Men’s Wanyá Morris and have recently signed to Mary J. Blige’s Beautiful Life Productions and recently earned a nod at the 2023 BET Awards for Best Group.

The four brothers go by Wanyá Morris II, Wanyá Morris III, Wanyá Morris IV and Wanyá Morris V — to avoid confusion, the young men go by Big Boy, 18; Chulo, 17; Tyvas, 16; and Rocco, 12.

DC hardcore legends Scream have announced DC Special,  their first new music since 2011 and first full-length since 1993. The record, which features contributions from Ian MacKaye , former drummer Dave Grohl , and more, is out November 10th via the storied Dischord Records. Along with the news, Scream have announced a run of 2023 tour dates, and shared the new song “DC Special Sha La La.” Listen below.

Scream’s original lineup — singer Pete Stahl, guitarist Franz Stahl, bassist Skeeter Thompson, and drummer Kent Stax — recorded DC Special  at Washington, DC’s go-to punk studio, Inner Ear, with founder Don Zientara, while Minor Threat/Fugazi frontman Ian MacKaye provided additional production. The band’s first LP since 1993’s Fumble,  and first overall release since the 2011 EP  Complete Control Recording Sessions,  has been a long time coming: In 2021, Scream launched a Kickstarter to fund the project, which ended up being one of the last things Zientara recorded at Inner Ear before being evicted from its historic location. Pre-orders for the album are ongoing.

Grohl — who replaced Stax on drums in the late ’80s before moving on to Nirvana in 1990 — contributes to DC Special,  as does MacKaye, Jerry Busher, Amy Pickering, Mark Cisneros, Onam Emmett, Joe Lally, Bob Berberich, and John Goetchius, making the LP a true who’s-who of the DC music scene.

Next month, Scream will kick off a brief North American tour with Soul Side that includes shows in Los Angeles, Portland, Brooklyn, Philly, and, of course, DC. See the band’s full list of tour dates below, and grab tickets to a show via Ticketmaster .

Each fall, Philly takes spooky season to the next level as creepy haunted houses, nerve-wracking hayrides and terrifying Halloween attractions pop up throughout the region, scaring up new and over-the-top Hollywood production-level experiences set inside some of the creepiest places you can imagine.

Eastern State Penitentiary , an abandoned prison, hosts the massive annual Halloween Nights . The basement of a century-old industrial warehouse morphs into the Fright Factory . Infamous Pennhurst Asylum , a deserted psychiatric hospital, transforms into a terror-inducing haunted house. Lose your sanity on a haunted ski lift ( Scream Mountain ) or aboard a runaway antique train ( No Hope After Dark ).

As one of the nation’s oldest — and possibly most haunted — cities, Philadelphia is also home to a bevy of frightening historical ghost tours that offer up chilling tales of the city’s paranormal past and shocking true events, with a chance to witness other-worldly phenomena for yourself.

The twisting, disorienting Original Haunted Hayride — rated 5 out of 5 skulls by Fright Review (and one of their “favorite trails”) — offers a dozen new scenes for 2023 and an all-new sound experience. Then risk it all seeking One Eyed Willie’s lost treasure as you Escape From Willie’s Shipwreck Cove, featuring brand-new elements for the new season. Lastly, explore the dreaded mansion of evil at the risen-from-the-ashes Miles Manor Haunted House.

The Bates Motel

Hollywood-level special effects ramp up the trilogy of terror at The Bates Motel in Delco , named one of the 10 Best Haunted House Attractions in America by CNN. I scream, you scream, we all scream … because we’re all inside an abandoned prison! Eastern State Penitentiary opens its cell blocks each fall after dark for Halloween Nights , one of Philly’s most beloved Halloween attractions and America’s largest haunted house. The legendary prison (that once housed infamous criminals from Willie Sutton to Al Capone) has ramped up bigger and better for 2023 with 15 different attractions across its 11 acres, including five haunted houses, two walking tours and five themed bars — plus the Fair Chance Beer Garden.

Lincoln Mill Haunted House

September 23 – November 4, 2023 (select dates)

A relative newcomer, Lincoln Mill Haunted House spins a spine-chilling story: Bodies were “discovered” in a secret basement chamber after flooding from Hurricane Ida in 2021, uncovering the mill’s dark and gruesome past. Explore the 160-year-old abandoned mill as you avoid the lingering spirits of workers who were subject to torment and experimentation by their disturbed boss a century ago, featuring scare actors, high-quality sets, special effects and animatronics. Operating in the same facility that housed an infamous psychiatric hospital for 80 years before being shut down, Pennhurst Asylum is a terrifying near-real-life attraction in Chester County. Described as the “ scariest place I have ever seen, period ” by HauntWorld , the 120-acre property offers three chilling attractions: the main Pennhurst Asylum haunted house, the disturbing Pennhurst Morgue and the panic-inducing Pennhurst Tunnels, all respectfully presented while reappropriating the site’s problematic history through feedback from the disability and mental health communities. For those looking for a little less horror, professionally guided daytime and paranormal investigation tours are available.

Scream Mountain at Spring Mountain Adventures

Montco’s Scream Mountain at Spring Mountain Adventures takes you up the dark side of a ski mountain on a chilling haunted chairlift ride, letting you out at the top only to guide yourself down an eerie, dimly lit trail to the bottom. Once at the bottom, you’ll hop on a haunted hayride to visit the remains of quarrymen murdered in their sleep (who, naturally, haunt the resort). For those with acrophobia, the hay ride is available as a separate attraction. Live bands play nightly.

Sleepy Hollow Haunted Acres

September 29 – October 29, 2023 (Fridays – Sundays)

Offering suburban scares since 1990, Sleepy Hollow Haunted Acres features three ghoulish attractions all located on the 230-acre Gunser Farm, a working family farm in Newtown. At a mile-and-a-quarter, the Sleepy Hollow Hayride is one of the longest in the region, winding through dark woods and pumpkin fields. Afterwards, make your way through the abandoned village Field of Fright to old Malfate Manor, known as The House in the Hollow, a terrifying haunted house. End your night by the bonfire pit with live music at the brand-new concessions building.

Haunted Attractions at Winding Brook Farm

Get ready for a three-part chilling adventure: Warrington’s Winding Brook Farm features three classic haunted attractions (ticketed separately) in one terrifying location. The Night Chills Hay Ride winds through woods transformed into the Gates of Hell — populated, of course, by eerie nighttime creatures. The Corn Walk of Horror is a haunting trail with blood-curdling screams at every dark turn. And try not to get trapped in the Haunted Hay Maze , where spooky characters chase you into a (seemingly) never-ending series of dead ends.

Like a nightmare right out of a Stephen King novel, the dark and cavernous basement of a 120-year-old abandoned factory is surely one of the scariest places on earth. That’s the setting for the high-scare, high-startle Fright Factory , a crowd-pleasing, creep-factor-100 warehouse in South Philly. The 25,000-square-foot space is split into three themed areas: Industrial Nightmare, South Side Sanatorium and Fright Factory Unholy. By the time you’re done, you’ll be begging to be let out of the basement.

No Hope After Dark

Step aboard a frightful Halloween festival on the rails as the New Hope Railroad takes you on the No Hope After Dark journey (round-trip) to the unknown aboard antique trains where terror and holiday revelry collide. While on board, experience sinister characters, immersive sets, and heart-pounding fear as your electrifying ride to the chilling abyss takes a haunting turn when nightmares come alive. The 100-minute multi-location journey departs from New Hope Train Station, with luxurious first-class table seating or high-back bench seats in coach available.

I was SO excited when my friends asked me to go with them to see A Wilhem Scream live. It was amazing. First of all, the guys up on stage had such an enthusiasm and energy it was sure to fill the entire place.

They were so awesome, and good with the crowd. Oh man were they amazing at keeping us entertained and engaged in the show. In between each song they would converse with the audience and ask us questions and even take song requests! I love their music too and I found myself on my feet for the entire show.

My feet were sore the next day. And, my throat was too. I left with no voice from screaming their songs at the top of my lungs. Even the songs I didn't know I was singing to the chorus by the end of them. And the band encouraged us to sing along; at several points giving us the microphone so we could be heard louder. It made me feel like an integral part of the show.

I absolutely enjoyed myself 100 percent that night. Would love to see these guys live again sometime. The only thing I would do differently is get closer seats! I would love to be in the mosh pit area.

Waited more than 5 years for this opportunity as I was living overseas and I didn't have a chance to see my favorite band live. This was worth the wait, they were amazing, the energy was amazing, music was amazing. Even had a chance to chat with the band, and had only positive vibes - down to earth, up for a chat with a fan, no prob giving you few minutes and make your day) Can't wait for the next one! Long live the kings)

Lots of energy and lots of heart. A Wilhelm Scream always puts on a good show and this was no exception. It's hard to go on before talent like the Decendents but the held there own and were one of the highlights of the show.

From the 1st time I've seen a wilhelm scream over 10 years ago till this day I've never dared to miss a show when they are coming to town ! Definitely at the top of my favorite live performances EVER!
