Saint Raymond (born March 30, 1995) is the stage name of British singer-songwriter Callum Burrows, who has grown to indie-pop prominence following his debut EP “Escapade” in 2012 – hailing from Nottingham, England, UK.

Born and raised in Bramcote, Nottingham, Callum Burrows’s earliest musical excursions came performing at small venues and open mic nights across the city. Also home to the likes of Jake Bugg and Dog Is Dead, Nottingham has provided ample sources of inspiration and influence for the singer, who has managed to aptly navigate the highly saturated singer-songwriter genre. Saint Raymond released his debut EP “Escapade” in April 2013 on Gabrielle Aplin’s Never Fade Records. The record showcased the anthemic nature of Burrows’ songwriter and introduced the singer to a much larger audience.

Later in 2013 the singer became warmly received by BBC Introducing and appeared on the BBC Introducing Stage at Reading and Leeds Festivals in August. On top of this, Saint Raymond made an appearance on the esteemed radio show “NottinghamLIVE”, which is considered by many to be the catalyst for Burrows signing with the major label Asylum Records. By September 2013 the major-label’s promotional-machine’s wheels were in motion which saw Saint Raymond support the American indie-rock darlings HAIM on their sold-out UK tour.

The singer-songwriter’s sophomore EP “Young Blood” appeared in January 2014 on National Anthem Records. Rising to No. 4 on the iTunes Album Chart, the EP proved a popular release, with the title track being named BBC Radio 1 DJ Zane Lowe’s “Hottest Record in the World”. Later that month Zane Lowe invited Burrows to perform a live session at the world-famous Maida Vale studios. After opening for Ed Sheeran on his Multiply Tour in the UK and Europe, Saint Raymond issued his third EP “Ghosts” on Asylum Records. Led by the single “Everything She Wants”, which also garnered Zane Lowe’s “Hottest Record in the World” sign of approval, the record build the singer’s profile further and earned a remix by Everything Everything. Arriving in July 2015, Saint Raymond’s debut, studio album “Young Blood”, was produced by Jacknife Lee, who known for his work with U2 and Bloc Party. Spawning the single “Come Back to You”, “Young Blood” is epitomised by Burrows’ heartfelt lyrics, catchy pop choruses, and indie-rock accompaniments.

Live reviews

I saw Saint Raymond a year ago in Manchester's Ruby Lounge, my word has his performance chanced in the last 12 months. Last time out it was quite a relaxed gig, he has a young following and the crowd were happy to sing along to his music and created a decent atmosphere.

I haven't heard much from him since but was expecting more of the same, man I was wrong. This time out the band gave a much heavier sound and basically rocked it this time, it was much more entertaining and I'm saying that after enjoying it last time around. He worked the crowd well got them going. His voice holds up well and he is building up a nice repertoire of songs. Looking forward to his album later in the year and would happily go and see another gig if I get the chance.

Great performer, great voice. You can tell he genuinely loves doing what he does. He hadn't toured for a few years and because people still came out and knew his old stuff and learned his new stuff he was so appreciative of the support. Would 100% recommend watching, plus he promised a new album soon so...

It was a very good night, the music was great and the crowd were too, Callum really interacted with the crowd and made it an enjoyable experience for all involved.

You could tell he loves what he does.

Saint Raymond

Saint Raymond first garnered serious critical acclaim with the release of his debut Escapade EP, showcasing his spirited style and a knack for crafting undeniably catchy tunes packed with palpable emotion. The release of his debut album Young Blood in 2015 and a coveted support slot with Ed Sheeran saw Callum Burrows (Saint Raymond) garner a legion of fans nationwide.

Known for his invigorating live sets and anthemic choruses, Saint Raymond has returned this year to treat fans with new music. First up was “Right Way Round,” which saw the talented Nottingham-bred musician enthrall with spirited production and infectiously catchy lyricism. His latest release “Love This Way” further evidenced the evolution of his alt-pop sound, incorporating a scintillating guitar solo and an extremely resonant lyrical sentiment.

We caught up with Saint Raymond to chat about his persisting with release plans in spite of the pandemic, crafting his live sets, his upcoming sophomore album, and more!

How’s lockdown been and how was it impacted your plans? For me personally, like everyone, I found it a bit weird at the start. But it’ll admit that I also quite enjoyed it at the start; I quite enjoy my own company. Like on a non-creative level I really don’t mind my own company at all. So, the first bit of it I was like this is great. I watched a bunch of stuff I’d not watched and but then I was like okay, this might be happening for a bit longer I guess.

Plan-wise– for us it kind of just screwed everything. We kind of had a bunch of stuff in the diary ready to like to build around the release in terms of live stuff. Obviously, all of that got canceled. It was a weird one because we were like do we push everything back? But I just thought there’s no point in putting everything on hold. So yeah, we kind of just went with it, I guess.

It was very disruptive but the one thing about it was that it’s the same for everyone, so it’s not just me that’s been affected. It’s just been weird.

Was it always the plan to push ahead with releasing? What was like the thought process behind it? Like it’s amazing that the new music has been so well received during lockdown. It was very last minute. So, we literally had a meeting on like March 10th in terms of like visuals and stuff like that. Obviously, we had this plan, but then obviously we couldn’t shoot anything. But it just felt natural to just go ahead of it because obviously we didn’t know how long we could wait for this to blow over so we didn’t want to push it back and then wait endlessly to release music.

We had to change a lot of plans. For example, with the visuals, we had a mood board of stuff we liked, and we had to dig deep and find something that has already been shot. So that was a bit weird because we kind of had dates in the diary to shoot visuals, so it was very disruptive, but, like everyone else, we just had to get on with it.

“Love This Way” is an absolutely massive tune, how did that track come to be? I wrote the song quite a while ago in a session with a couple of guys I’d never worked with it before. For a lot of this upcoming record, I was working with the same group of people that I love working with. But I just had this session and we wrote this song in maybe one or two days. It came super quick and at the core of the demo was a Saint Raymond song but it just didn’t feel right.

So the guy who produced the record, Joe Page, just jumped on and did some additional production on it. It came together really easily. The day we wrote it the guitar solo was like a bit of a joke but it ended up staying in along with the weird Bruno Mars “Huh” thing. I guess it’s wasn’t really a joke, we were more just like “why not?”

Both of the songs you released this year have been super received, how is it to have had that sort of reaction from those songs? It’s really weird because normally I gauge how well a song is doing by the reaction when I’m playing it live. Normally you’d release a song and then you go on tour, you do some shows and that’s normally the gauge. So obviously, this has been a bit different. It’s really weird at the minute because the only reactions I’m seeing are like online through my phone.

I was having a conversation with someone the other day about it and I guess you don’t really know. You can just read a bunch of comments and that’s how you see it. For me, it’s not a weight off my shoulders because that sounds like a negative thing, but I’ve just really wanted to get these tunes out so it’s nice to finally release them.

saint raymond interview

I’ve seen you like 5 or 6 times, what’s the process of like crafting a setlist and how’s that changed over time with new songs coming out? So, my drummer, John has been my drummer since the first day. The rest of the band kind of switched around a bit. But John’s been my drummer since day one and we’ve both got the live show to where we want it to be. The records will always have more production and a more slick element to them but we always the live show to like acknowledge that these are pop songs, but we didn’t want them to feel slick production-wise.

We always kind of built it on that and making sure that it felt like a bit more a bit bigger than that and a bit rawer than that. In terms of like setlist, there are definitely songs that we’ve just kept in the set from the past few years because of how well they do live. Set wise think it’s all about building it and you’ve got an hour and 20 minutes to keep people engaged. So you don’t want to throw everything in at the start and I’m just constantly learning still.

There are certain songs that we wouldn’t place at the start because it feels like that’s not the right moment to do it. For us, “Fall At Your Feet” has always worked as a big ender for us and I’m sure it won’t now because times have changed. For me personally, when I go see a band, I hate it when they just released a load of new music and that’s all they play. So, I’m very conscious of it, but it’s hard. Now that I’ve done touring and stuff, I get why bands do that. Like you’ve been playing these songs for like every night for four years. I think the challenge is just finding a good balance. It’s important for us to evolve the live show and the reality of a setlist is that you’re never going to please everyone.

Before and around the first album, you played some massive London shows, headlined Rock City, and obviously had the Ed Sheeran support slot. How is it to now reflect back on all of that now? Headlining Koko came just after the Ed Sheeran tour and that was a real moment for me. But I think a lot of shows blur into one and you don’t appreciate it. I think this whole situation we’re in now is going to make me really appreciate every single show a lot more.

I’ve been on long tours before and you’re working long hours so I’ve said on stage a different city to where I am. You’re just on the road, playing shows, and they all blur into one. I’ve done some reflecting now and we had some really big moments and did some crazy shows. I think it’s just learning to really appreciate every single gig again, you know, whether you’re playing in front of 20 people or 20,000 people.

The uncertainty is the hardest thing now; we don’t even know when we can put on shows again. I know a lot of people are penciling stuff in with the hope they’ll go ahead, but the whole situation has been a bit grim.

Speaking of like live moments, literally one of my favorite live moments ever was when you played “Movie On My Mind” live. It was an unreleased song at the time and by the end, everyone was singing along. It’s still a staple of your set and people seem to still love it. Did you ever think that song would be as popular as it has been? Not at all. I think I’d written it around the time of that show. The whole record was done and signed off when I wrote it. We literally wrote that song in about 4 hours and we never thought that it’d be a moment live. Even now it spins me out, even though it’s been out for ages. I think those moments live are when you step back and just become really grateful. I do remember that moment at Koko and even with the last tour, it was still such a moment in the set.

There’s always songs you picture live, in terms of what bits a crowd might sing along to but I don’t think you actually imagine it to happen how it was. That song still blows my mind. At that moment, the song wasn’t even going to be on the album so I think it was probably that chain of events that lead it going on the record.

You released “A Light That Blinds” after your debut album, how was the process of going back and crafting that smaller body of work? Also, after the album, you could put out tracks without them being tied to an album campaign. I always said I never wanted to be that guy who took ages to release music again but I kind of was. From when I started to when the album came out, how music is listened to just completely changed. When we started that whole campaign in like 2013 and we were slowly building it up and everyone kind of got their music from the radio. Whereas, now streaming is king all of a sudden. The campaign was sort of like radio-led then streaming came in and the whole thing changed.

I kind of just took a step back from it and kind of slowly started writing music again. I think I was just a bit burnt out like in terms of writing music just because I’ve done it for so long non-stop to get that record out. It was quite nice after the album to know you can just release a song and it’s out and people will go listen to it. Like now you don’t have to now do a massive album campaign. You can just release a song and drip feed songs and people will go and listen to it. It’s definitely a different way and it is really interesting. It was hard to figure out, but I guess it was kind of cool.

Music Video Premiere: Alexander Stewart – broken by you

Obviously, the album should hopefully be coming out next year. How’s it feel being on the cusp of that? Also, how do you feel about releasing an album when the importance of the album itself isn’t as high as it used to be? Like people might just shuffle it on Spotify or just see a song on New Pop UK or something like that. With a lot of the songs that came out after the album, it was obviously nice to have those out but it was a bit frustrating knowing that there was nothing next. Obviously, with the songs at the minute, there’s a whole body of work to come out after. So it’s really exciting to know that, from my point of view, I’m not gonna be twiddling my thumbs waiting for the next moment.

But like you say, it’s a weird one because I think the purist in me and as a fan I want an artist to do an album campaign. I want to hear like two songs off it and then I want to sit down or listen to the album. I think the way it works now is getting multiple songs out and hope people will find them on certain streaming playlists. Long gone are the days where you necessarily like sit and listen to an album one to 12 or whatever, it’s kind of people will pick their favourite songs put on a playlist with their other favourite songs. It’s a completely different thing but it’s kind of nice still. It’s cool from my perspective as well knowing that people are still listening to the tunes from the first album and before.

saint raymond interview

Do you feel like services like Spotify have allowed you to release an album with less pressure? I guess so. When we released “Right Way Round,” it was like 18 months since we last released music so we were kind of stepping into the unknown. So seeing that there are still people that want the music and people that are excited for it really helps. Because then you just like, let’s keep going and not kind of put brakes on it or take a step back. Knowing that people are still just excited about new music as they were ages ago has been a massive, massive help.

Like we talked about earlier, a load of your songs always prompt massive sing-alongs when you play them live. Does that ever factor into your writing process or is it something you ever think about when you’re deciding what to release? It’s a weird one because when I’m in the moment writing it’s just purely music-led. I tend to let the music lead and then build on it from that. Someone said to me ages ago that every song feels like a sing-along one and I kind of like that. I like there’s no real low moment. Maybe there is a subconscious thing going on in the back of my mind because I just love playing live. So I guess there is something within me whenever I’m writing this saying, will this work live or whatever? But I wouldn’t say it’s a definite thing that like ever changes a song but I just know deep down that I’m going to be playing it live so that probably makes it a big factor without me really thinking about it.

When something emotionally impactful happens, do you feel the urge to write about it instantly or do you just sort of take a while to process? I think it varies. A lot of the time, I tend to take a moment on it and I wouldn’t dive straight in. But then I think sometimes it is really helpful if you’ve got some time to just dive straight in on it. But to be fair, a lot of ideas for like lyrics or melody tend to come in the most awkward places when you’re like in public or on public transport. I think I have like 2000 voice memos and I haven’t labelled any.

I always get inspiration at the most awkward times and you have to like pretend you’re coughing or something while you’re trying to record. Although you probably don’t want to pretend you’re coughing these days.

Next year should see the arrival of your second album, after 5 years. What do you think are the major differences within yourself and the creation of the album? I guess the big difference for me is like when I was writing those songs for the first record, I was like 16 or 17. I was so young and I was just open to everything in terms of like, who I was working with, and I was just wanting to do everything. I’m still like that, to an extent, but I had stepped straight out of school and I got really fortunate with getting sessions. I was just up for anything. I did like five years of solid writing. Now I guess the big differences is like I’ve written these last songs from being like 23 to 25, maybe even younger. So I guess it’s just like I’ve grown up, literally.

I say not my musical approach hasn’t really changed. Like, I still love working with the same people that I worked with when I was 17. I guess it’s just a maturity thing. It’s very common, like cliche thing to say when people are like this a more mature record. Maybe there’ll be moments on this record that aren’t more mature on this record but I think just literally I’ve matured as a person and my life has changed, I guess. I couldn’t even have a drink in a bar when I started writing my first record.

I guess with like any job you’re learning on the job too. You start taking away things you don’t like and you know what works for you. That’s why I think on the majority of this record, it’s a team of people that I like working with because I just know that I can be with these people and make the best music for Saint Raymond.

Obviously it’s a really weird time at the moment but what are you most looking forward to? I think the main thing is getting the second record out just because it has been five years. The moment that that’s released will an amazing moment for me personally, just because it’s very easy for people to think like what are they actually up to, like musicians when they’re not when an album has been out and then nothing’s really happening. So it’ll just be nice to be like, this is what I’ve been doing. I think that coming out is a big one and then just getting back to playing live shows. I’d love to be here in a year’s time having played Nottingham or wherever really. For me, it’s nice to know there’s a record coming; it’s such an important thing for me.

About Saint Raymond

English singer/songwriter Callum Burrows, better known as Saint Raymond, rushed onto the music scene at the tender age of 18, and his indie pop anthems were immediately tipped for big things by the music press. He grew up in Nottingham alongside the likes of Jake Bugg and Dog Is Dead -- and inevitably drew comparisons to them both. Burrows first caught the attention of the major labels in early 2013 after his debut EP, Escapade, was released on songstress Gabrielle Aplin's own Never Fade label, and entered the digital chart. This was the start of a busy year for the singer/songwriter as he went on to support Aplin on her European tour before signing to Asylum Records -- home to Ed Sheeran -- and joined American soft rockers HAIM for their U.K. dates. His live performances were supported by a band, following the trend set by the Stateside success of Bastille, who were led by singer/songwriter Dan Smith. Burrows also shares an affinity for '80s-inspired lush harmonies with Bastille, while his off-kilter beats take influence from Vampire Weekend's Afro-beat. Another EP appeared in early 2014 and gained radio support from BBC Radio 1's Zane Lowe, who featured it as the Hottest Record in the World on his show. That year he also secured a prestigious support slot with Sheeran on a three-month tour of Europe. In July 2015, Young Blood, his Jacknife Lee-produced debut album, was issued. No fewer than 11 of the record's 17 tracks appeared as singles both in the run up to and just after its release, providing plenty of mainstream U.K. radio airplay. As a result, the album reached number eight on the U.K. album chart, while a timely cover of Major Lazer and DJ Snake's "Lean On" helped to keep his profile high. He capped off the year with a series of headlining shows in the U.K. before taking a step back from the limelight. New Year's Day 2017 brought the single "Oh Brother," his first new material in over a year, but it proved to be his last for Asylum. When the pared-back A Light That Blinds EP appeared in November, it was issued on Never Fade, the label on which his journey had begun. One year later his next single, "Echo," was released on West London's Cooking Vinyl, which -- after another diversion from Burrows back to Never Fade and a Mahogany Session -- eventually kicked off his second album campaign with the 2020 singles "Right Way Round," "Love This Way," and "Wide Eyed Blind." The album itself -- We Forgot We Were Dreaming -- appeared in early 2021. ~ Scott Kerr & James Wilkinson

Kenny Chesney Plots 2022 Stadium Tour

By Jon Freeman

Jon Freeman

Kenny Chesney has firmed up plans for a stadium tour that will kick off next spring. The Here and Now: 2022 Stadium Tour are Chesney’s first live dates to be announced since having to table his 2020 Chillaxification Tour last spring as the Covid-19 pandemic took hold.

The Here and Now trek gets underway April 23rd at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, with many of the locations Chesney had previously announced for the Chillaxification Tour now on his 2022 itinerary. Those include Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Minneapolis’ U.S. Bank Stadium, and Arlington, Texas’ AT&T Stadium. Other cities on the tour, which makes weekly stops through the end of August, include Nashville, Seattle, and Denver. Chesney will wrap things up next year on August 26th and 27th with a two-night stand at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts.

Tickets are on sale now. Previously purchased tickets will be honored for the corresponding 2022 shows, and refunds are available for the next 30 days.

“We’re calling the tour Here And Now 2022, because when we get together, there is  only  the present – and it’s so electric and good, I know I don’t want it to end,” Chesney said in a statement.

Chesney is one of a very small number of country artists gearing up for stadium-level tours. Garth Brooks will launch his in July 2021, with shows booked in Las Vegas, Salt Lake City, Cincinnati, and Nashville.

Welcome

Saint raymond church, we are a welcoming catholic community called by god to live out the message of christ in love and service to all people. our parish mission is:, to lead souls to jesus christ, our good shepherd. our ultimate destination is heaven, to be among the saints in glory with the most holy trinity for all of eternity., faith formation/, youth ministry, saint raymond school, online giving, a message from father sam ward.

Dear St. Raymond’s Family and Visitors,

I am so thankful to Almighty God and to Archbishop José H. Gomez for assigning me as the new Pastor of St. Raymond Church effective July 1, 2021.As a priest of Jesus Christ, my mission, and the mission of St. Raymond Church, is to lead souls to Jesus Christ, our Good Shepherd. Our ultimate destination is Heaven, to be among the Saints in glory with the Most Holy Trinity for all of eternity. Nourished in Holy Mass by the Eucharist, rooted in Sacred Scripture and Sacred Tradition, availing ourselves of God’s mercy in Confession, regular Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, and practicing the Corporal and Spiritual Works of Mercy will keep us on the path to Heaven. The Holy Spirit will guide us securely, especially when we are close to Mary, the Mother of Jesus and Mother of the Church, and St. Joseph, Guardian of the Redeemer and Universal Patron of the Church.

Like the Holy Family of Nazareth, I pray that we continue to be a holy family as a parish, united in Faith, Hope, and Love. The work of the New Evangelization in our times demands that we go out to proclaim and live the Gospel of Jesus Christ as Missionary Disciples to share this Good News with others—family, friends, coworkers, classmates, neighbors, fallen-away Catholics, those who no longer believe in God or the Catholic Church, and even those who are hostile to the Christian faith.

I am the fifth Pastor of the parish, succeeding Father John Higgins who will retire here in the Rectory after 18 years as Pastor. The parish was established under Monsignor Patrick Cleary in 1956. Monsignor Robert Gibson and Father Tom O’Hanlon followed as Pastors.

The current Church was built in 1958. Holy Mass was celebrated at then-Piux X High School during the first two years. We are under the Patronage of St. Raymond Nonnatus , a 13 th century priest from Catalonia (Spain). He is the Patron Saint of childbirth, midwives, children, pregnant women, and priests defending the confidentiality of confession.

As we emerge from the devastating effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, St. Raymond Church is once again “open for buisness”. Please join us for Sunday and Daily Masses. Our parish groups and ministries are in the process of starting up again. We want and need you to be an active member of our parish family. Please pray to the Holy Spirit for guidance to discern what talents and gifts, and even financial support, that you can share with us and the wider community in Downey and beyond.

St. Raymond School is an outstanding TK to 8 th Grade school. Click on the School link for more information or to schedule a tour. Mrs. Claudia Rodarte, our Principal, and Faculty are dedicated and talented educations. St. Raymond School thrived even dispite the many challenges during the pandemic.

We have amazing Youth Programs for all ages—Confirmation, Life Teen, and Edge Middle School. The youth have a lot of fun as they grow in their faith and relationship with Jesus Christ. I have already met many of the them and am very impressed with their dedication to serve the Lord and their parish.

I place you and your family under the guidance and protection of our Blessed Mother Mary and St. Joseph. St. Raymond Nonnatus, pray for us.

In the Sacred Heart of Jesus,

Father Sam Ward

Click here is a brief list of my hopes and plans in the near future for St. Raymond Church:

  • To make the Covent Chapel into an Adoration Chapel.
  • To keep the Church and parking lot open for increased hours.
  • To expand the Parish Office hours each day and on the weekends.
  • To add more hours of Confessions each week.
  • To provide opportunities for faith-sharing in small groups, especially after each Sunday Mass.

  • To form a caring and nurturing Bereavment Program to jouney with families before, during, and after Funeral Services.

Breakaway Music Festival Tampa: Guide to parking, lineup, tickets and more

  • Gabrielle Calise Times staff

Get ready, electronic music lovers. Breakaway Music Festival is finally making its debut in Tampa this weekend.

The multi-stage festival takes place at Raymond James Stadium from 5 p.m. to midnight on Friday and Saturday. Here’s everything you need to know before you go.

What is Breakaway Music Festival? And why is it coming to Tampa?

Breakaway Music Festival is an immersive live music experience that debuted in Columbus, Ohio, in 2016. The goal was to bring world-class DJs and electronic dance music to underserved markets.

“It’s not Chicago, New York, Los Angeles or Miami, but anything in between,” said co-founder Zach Reuben.

There are now 11 Breakaway Music Festivals across the country, plus 9 additional stops on the Breakaway college tour. Over 100,000 fans attended in 2023.

Breakaway Music Festival has been eyeing Tampa for a while, Reuben explained, thanks to the city’s young population, growing workforce, large colleges and corporate headquarters. Breakaway Music Festival fills a void left in the market when Sunset Music Festival announced that it would not take place in 2024 .

“It obviously worked out for the better that it didn’t return, but it kind of was independent of our planning,” Reuben said.

Breakaway Music Festival’s lineup

The festival features two stages and a silent disco. The lineup includes a diverse range of genres, include EDM, pop, house, bass and four-on-the-floor music.

Illenium and Kaskade headline Friday, joined by ACRAZE, GUDFELLA, Ian Asher, Matroda, Night Tales, Ravenscoon, ROSSY and Said the Sky.

Saturday’s headliners are Zedd and SOFI TUKKER, with performances by ALLEYCVT, Crankdat, Deerock, Dion Timmer, Calcium, it’s murph, Moore Kismet, Sara Benyo, TroyBoi and ZUEZEU.

Three local DJs will be heading from the Ritz Ybor to the stage at Breakaway: Pushman, Myr and Taylorlace. Over twenty other local artists will perform at the silent disco.

Purchase tickets to Breakaway Music Festival and official after parties

Available tickets from range from a $65 for a single-day pass to $1,049 for 2-Day Ultra VIP ticket, which includes access to a viewing platform on the side of the main stage, drink and merch vouchers and access to a guest lounge. Some ticket packages include hotel stays, shuttle services and local discounts. Visit breakawayfestival.com/tampa to learn more and purchase tickets.

The Ritz Ybor will be hosting the official Breakaway after parties starting at 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. Matroda, Taylorlace and Pushman will appear Friday, with Crankdat, Myr and Wilco Beats performing Saturday. Purchase tickets ($25) and reserve VIP tables ($150) at www.theritzybor.com .

Both Breakaway Music Festival and the official after parties are 18+.

Weather this weekend

Breakaway Music Festival takes place outside, so pack sunscreen and make sure to visit the on-site water stations. The forecast calls for highs in the upper 80s and lows in the upper 60s. Rain is unlikely to occur in Tampa on Friday or Saturday.

The festival is a rain or shine event. Should severe weather interrupt the festivities, refunds will not be given. Updates will be announced at the festival and on social media.

Getting to Raymond James Stadium

Anticipate traffic along Dale Mabry Highway, Himes Avenue, Columbus Drive and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard ahead of the show. The Tampa Sports Authority works with parkwhiz.com , where reservations range from $15 to $53. Note that third-party websites like seatgeek.com are not affiliated with the stadium.

The Hillsborough Community College lots are available for day-of parking. Residents in the nearby neighborhoods frequently rent out their parking spots and driveways to concertgoers. Arrive early to scope for a good space and bring cash.

For those hoping to take public transportation, HART bus routes 7, 15, 32, 36 and 45 service the stadium. Bus stops on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Himes Avenue are a roughly 15-minute walk away. Check gohart.org for route information.

The ride share pick up and drop off location is located in Lot B at 4105 N Himes Ave. As with any stadium show, anticipate potential delays and surge charging with Uber and Lyft.

Lawmakers set to tackle ‘funflation’ as Taylor Swift tour puts spotlight on growing entertainment costs

(CNN) - Taylor Swift’s latest album, “The Tortured Poets Department,” which dropped on Friday, became the most-streamed album on its first day across Spotify, Amazon Music and Apple Music.

The superstar continues to break record after record. Last summer’s “Eras” tour was the highest-grossing concert tour of all time. Swift’s live success, along with Beyonce’s blockbuster tour, jolted the entire U.S. economy, but fans willing to shell out big bucks to be a part of the magic were plagued by ticketing troubles and inflation.

“This is a significant amount of spending that people are still funneling towards entertainment and concerts,” said Elizabeth Renter, data analyst for NerdWallet.

The phenomenon of “funflation” is raising red flags in Washington.

The U.S. Justice Department is planning to sue Live Nation & Entertainment, the country’s largest concert promoter and parent company of Ticketmaster, for breaking America’s antitrust laws, according to reporting from the Wall Street Journal that cited anonymous sources familiar with the DOJ’s plans.

“It’s impossible for a consumer to tell what’s going into these ticket prices,” said Kase Wickman, Vanity Fair contributor. “It’s really frustrating on the consumer side and also feels unfair.”

For its part, Ticketmaster has defended its practices, arguing before Congress last year that it doesn’t set ticket prices or determine how many seats go up for sale.

“Pricing and distribution strategies are determined by the artists and their teams. Service fees, even if they’re called ticketing fees, are retained mainly by the venues,” said Joe Berchtold, president and CFO of Live Nation & Entertainment.

Yet, despite consumer anger over exorbitant fees when buying online, the concert-going craze isn’t over.

“People have rethought how they prioritize what they spend their money on and that we’re going to see continued spending on experiences rather than just stuff,” Renter said.
