The Lidl-Trek era has officially begun

lidl trek tour 2023

What will change in the Lidl-Trek era? Everything, and nothing

The Lidl-Trek era is here, and a lot is changing at the surface level of the program. There’s a new name, new kit, and a whole new set of ambitions thanks to even greater resources now available to the team.

The team formally introduced itself Wednesday at a Lidl store in Bilbao, Spain, where the 2023 Tour de France will begin this Saturday. With the biggest race in road cycling as a backdrop, Lidl-Trek signaled its intentions: To win at the highest levels the sport can offer.

And yet, deep down, not much is changing at all. At the top, Lidl-Trek will still be led by some of the finest minds in cycling, starting with general manager Luca Guercilena. And the team will operate under the same philosophies and values that have already made it a success on the WorldTour. At its core, Lidl-Trek is a team that puts rider development and a family atmosphere first.

“Over the years, we’ve invested a lot in young riders who are developing at a high level,” Guercilena said. “Loyalty to the team has been fundamental to reaching our potential. That will never change.”

With Lidl as a partner, Lidl-Trek will be able to realize its vision at a scale that the program never could have imagined before. The goal is to be the most successful team in the peloton, no matter where and when they line up.

The team has always prioritized rider development . 2019 World Champion Mads Pedersen, recent Tour de Suisse winner Matthias Skjelmose, and inaugural Tour de France Femmes best young rider Shirin van Anrooij are all examples of the team’s successes. As Lidl-Trek, the road program will double down on its commitment to young riders by creating a development team for the men’s team, and adding Under-23 racers to the women’s team.

The new kits are sure to make a splash across France.

“Our foundation will always be investing in riders that fit our mentality while always keeping an eye on young generation,” Guercilena said. “This is why we’re creating a development men’s team and investing even more into young women’s riders.”

The men’s development team will be based in Deinze, Belgium, where the Trek Factory Racing service course is located, and consist of 14 riders competing at the UCI Continental level. Accommodations will be made for the young riders, including an option to stay at an apartment in Girona, Spain, where they can enjoy pristine training roads. The Lidl-Trek women’s team will add five young riders directly to its roster. All of the young riders will take on a carefully-curated schedule of races to help them gradually acclimate to WorldTour racing.

The road program has always taken a judicious approach to veteran signings. Free agent riders not only need to fulfill an open role on the squad, but they need to fit culturally, too. Guercilena prizes loyalty. Developing riders in a family atmosphere is another good way to make those riders stick around.

But Guercilena isn’t blind to the realities of the sport. And the increased financial support with Lidl as a partner will help the team keep its roster intact, while also allowing it to strategically pursue free agent cyclists and increase its firepower wherever and whenever necessary.

“We’re very thankful for the financial support of a great company like Lidl in addition to Trek,” Guercilena said. “Not only can it help us keep our riders, but we will be able to increase the level of the whole team and pursue our biggest goals.”

lidl trek tour 2023

This next chapter is going to be so much fun.

Winning is great, of course, but it’s even sweeter when you can have fun along the way. Lidl-Trek will embody The Bicycle Company’s “ride bikes, have fun, feel good” ethos right down to its playful new kits and bike schemes. The riders continue to win your heart even when they don’t win on the road.

The Trek road racing program has always had a unique vision of what it wanted to accomplish, and how. The Lidl-Trek era will take that experiment to a whole new level. Get ready to watch the same ‘ol program like you’ve never seen it before.

“We are building up an ambitious team with the goal to achieve the highest ranking in the world. No excuses,” Guercilena said. “This will be a big task, and we are all ready for it at Lidl-Trek.”

BIKE CHECK: Mads Pedersen’s Chroma Ultra-Iridescent P1 Madone

This is a work of art!

Are Lidl-Trek's bikes the prettiest at the Tour de France?

Each rider of the women's and men's teams will be racing aboard a one-of-a-kind Project One ICON Trek Émonda or Madone

Trek Project One ICON TdF edition collage

When the 2023 Tour de France gets underway on Saturday, July 1, each rider of the Lidl-Trek squad (formerly knowns as Trek-Segafredo) will be rolling through France on a one-of-a-kind Project One Icon bicycle.

Trek today unveiled eight all-new Project One ICON paint schemes, made especially for the bike brand's professional men’s and women’s road teams but available for consumers worldwide.

Trek says that each paint scheme is handcrafted using individualized paint processes that create organic designs and patterns that cannot be replicated. Therefore, no two Project One ICON frames are exactly the same.

These new paint colors are available, made to order, on Trek’s Émonda SLR and Madone SLR framesets.

All Project One ICON bikes are painted in-house at Trek's Wisconsin headquarters by the brand's "most experienced Project One artists."

"These bespoke designs are about more than colors that stand out: they're filled with texture, depth and mood," says Trek.

Trek did not yet say which rider will be aboard what color; I guess we'll just have to tune in to the Tour de France and Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift later in the month to find out.

The all-new schemes:

Chroma Ultra-Iridescent (limited edition)

Chroma Ultra-iridescent comes from years of trial, error, and combined artistic brainpower from Project One’s most sought-after master painters. It takes a certain level of skill and know-how to create a paint so radiant.

Chroma Diamond Flake (limited edition)

Millions upon millions of microscopic chrome flakes create a stunning scheme worthy of every display. No two diamonds are the same and with this limited-edition colorway, riders will have a dream bike that shines differently in every light.

Real Smoke (Cerulean Mist, Red Smolder, and White Ash)

Real Smoke is a hazy, hand-crafted paint scheme that uses fire as the main ingredient. Each frame catches smoke within its base paint layers for a design that never cools.

Crystalline (Blue Prismatic and Viper Frost)

These one-of-a-kind paint schemes are created organically by fusing together thousands of tiny crystals into lattices that sparkle in any light. Just like the natural phenomena they replicate, Crystalline bikes are like snowflakes — each one as unique as the next.

Team Tie Dye

This unique paint scheme in pro team colors complements the six additional Tie Dye options currently available through Project One that launched earlier this year.

Trek aren't the only bike brands unveiling special bikes at this year's Tour de France - so far we've also seen Lapierre's AI designed Xelius SL for Groupama-FDJ and Mark Cavendish's personalised Wilier Filante SLR.

UCI WorldTeam

The American Lidl-Trek squad emerged from the ashes of the RadioShack and Leopard squads with Trek Factory Racing stepping up as the title sponsor at the start of the 2014 season.

The team then became Trek-Segafredo in 2016, before changing to Lidl-Trek during the 2023 season.

In the past, Fabian Cancellara won three Monuments for the team before retiring in 2016. Cancellara’s Classics-winning legacy remains ingrained within the team, however. With the likes of Jasper Stuyven, Mads Pedersen and Edward Theuns on their roster, they’ve quickly become a force to be reckoned with in one-day races and a big rival of the cobble-crushing kings, Alpecin-Deceuninck and Soudal Quick-Step.

Their goals don’t lie solely in the spring though, with climbers like Bauke Mollema, Giulio Ciccone, Kenny Elissonde and Juan Pedro López, the team have also been a constant threat in the Grand Tours, particularly when it comes to hunting stage wins from breakaways.

For 2024, however, their remit has certainly broadened, with the continued development of cyclo-cross starlet Thibau Nys and the armada of new talent that has been signed ahead of the new road campaign.

Tao Geoghegan Hart is perhaps the blockbuster name amongst the team's new signings, with the former Giro d'Italia champion set to become their big GC leader in the Grand Tours. Geoghegan Hart is looking to rebound from a career-threatening crash at the 2023 Giro d'Italia, but the likes of Remco Evenepoel (Soudal Quick-Step) and Wout van Aert (Visma-Lease a Bike) demonstrate that riders can come back better than ever following major rehabilitation.

Should that be the case with Geoghegan Hart, Lidl-Trek will be a team to be reckoned with in the Grand Tours. Not only do they already have Giulio Ciccone - who himself fancies a crack at a Grand Tour podium - but their climbing roster has been bolstered for 2024 with the additions of Carlos Verona, Sam Oomen, Patrick Konrad and Fabio Felline.

Tim Declerq will provide ample support on the flatlands, as too will the likes of Ryan Gibbons and Andrea Bagioli, whilst the signing of Italy's Jonathan Milan will offer the team a secondary sprinter to Pedersen.

Tour de France pro bikes you can buy yourself — from Trek, Giant, Canyon, Merida, Bianchi, Pinarello, Colnago + Wilier

Tour de France pro bikes you can buy yourself — from Trek, Giant, Canyon, Merida, Bianchi, Pinarello, Colnago + Wilier

First Published Jul 2, 2023

The Tour de France is underway and here are some of the team bikes that you can buy yourself – as long as you’re willing and able to drop a whole lot of money on it.

Bike brands often sell more affordable versions of models that sponsored teams ride, with spec downgrades to make price points, but that's not what we're covering here. No, these bikes are either virtually identical to those ridden in the Tour or have just a few differences. Essentially, they're of a similar level.

Sometimes there will be differences in components. A race team might have a deal with a certain manufacturer, for example, while the bike brand has commercial reasons for speccing product from a different company. Mainly, though, the components shown here are the same as you'll see used in the Tour

To keep things manageable, we’ve stuck with bikes that are finished in team livery or at least the same colours as the relevant team. If team colours don’t interest you, all of the framesets shown here come in other finishes too.

Check out all of the bikes being raced in the 2023 Tour de France

Every frameset that you see in the Tour de France is commercially available, or it will be soon – that's one of the UCI's rules. Even if a bike brand doesn't offer a complete bike built up with the same components used by a particular team, you could put together a copy of anything ridden by the pros... as long as you're prepared to throw enough money at it.

Here are bikes you can get your hands on that are the closest to those ridden by the pros at the Tour de France.

Alpecin-Deceuninck: Canyon Aeroad CFR Disc Di2 £8,799

2023 Canyon Aeroad CFR Di2

Canyon offers its Aeroad CFR Disc Di2 in an Alpecin-Deceuninck finish. As the name suggests, it’s built up with a Shimano Dura-Ace Di2 groupset, which is what the team riders use.

The bike you can buy is specced with DT Swiss wheels and a Rotor ALDHU24 crankset and INspider power meter, whereas the pros are on Shimano all the way.

Canyon-SRAM:  Canyon Aeroad CFR eTap £9,999

2023 Canyon Aeroad CFR eTap Canyon-SRAM

Canyon also offers its Aeroad CFR in a Canyon-SRAM replica. As a UCI Women’s World Tour team, Canyon-SRAM will be racing the Tour de France Femmes which starts on 23rd July 2023.

Canyon-SRAM riders use SRAM Red eTap AXS groupset components, including power meters, and Zipp wheels, all of which are found on this bike. The team uses Schwalbe tyres while you get Continental GP 5000s here, but the build is extremely close to what you’ll see the pros using.

Astana Qazaqstan Team: Wilier Filante SLR €11,300  and Wilier 0 SLR €11,300

2023 Wilier Filante SLR Astana (1)

The Wilier Filante SLR aero road bike (above) and the lightweight Wilier 0 SLR (below) are each available in gorgeous Astana Qazaqstan Team finishes, as well as various other paint jobs. They’re both available in several different component specs with prices starting at €8,400.

Check out our Wilier Filante SLR review

2023 Wilier Zero SLR Astana (1)

A build including Shimano Dura-Ace Di2 – the groupset used by Astana Qazaqstan – will set you back €11,300.

> Check out Mark Cavendish’s Wilier Filante SLR

The spec also includes a Prologo saddle and Vittoria tyres, which is what the Astana boys use, although you’ll get Wilier’s own wheels, made with Miche, whereas the team bikes are fitted with Corima (or in some cases HED). That aside, this setup is close to the one you’ll see ridden in the Tour de France.

Bahrain Victorious: Merida Reacto Team £8,500  and Merida Scultura Team £8,000

2022 Merica Reacto Team

Although Bahrain Victorious riders are using Pearl White bikes for the Tour de France, you can buy both Merida Reacto aero road bike (above) and Scultura lightweight road bike (below) in standard team finishes.

Read our review of the Merida Reacto Team-E 2021

The Reacto and the Scultura frames are each available in a top-level CF5 version, as used by the pros, and in a cheaper and slightly heavier CF3 build. Both of the bikes above are CF5.

The component specs are extremely close to those used by the pros too, with Shimano Dura-Ace Di2 groupsets, Vision wheels, Continental tyres, and Prologo saddles.

Check out our Merida Reacto 6000 review

2022 Merida Scultura Team (1)

The Scultura Team comes with a Merida handlebar and stem whereas Bahrain Victorious use FSA/Vision products, but that’s about the only significant deviation.

Lidl-Trek:  Trek Madone SLR 9 eTap Project One Icon £16,150  and Trek Emonda SLR 9 eTap Project One Icon £14,600

2023 Trek Madone SLR 9 eTap Project One Icon - 1

Trek-Segafredo has just changed its name to Lidl-Trek and riders will race the Tour de France on bikes that feature Trek’s eight new Project One Icon paint schemes – Project One being Trek’s custom programme.

Former world champion Mads Pedersen, for instance, has a bike with a Chroma Ultra-iridescent finish, for example. That paint job is priced at £3,850… and then you have to factor in the price of the bike that goes underneath it. Even the least expensive Project One Icon finish is £1,650.

Trek’s Madone (above), which the US brand bills as its “fastest road race bike ever”, features IsoFlow technology – a huge hole in the seat tube, essentially – that’s said to provide an aerodynamic benefit and save weight.

Trek releases radical Madone SLR, its “fastest road race bike ever”

Lidl-Trek uses SRAM Red eTap AXS groupsets and Bontrager wheels which you can choose through Project One, although you have to spec Bontrager tyres rather than the team’s Pirellis.

2023 Trek Emonda SLR 9 eTap Project One Icon - 1

The Trek Emonda SLR AXS (above) – the lightweight road bike in the range – is also available in the new Project One Icon finishes.

If you’re happy to go without the super-posh finish, Trek Madone SLR 9 eTaps start at £14,500 through Project One and Trek Emonda SLR 9 eTaps cost from £12,950.

Ineos Grenadiers: Pinarello Dogma F Dura Ace Di2 Team Replica £12,400

2023 Pinarello Dogma F Dura Ace Di2 Team Replica - 1

If you’re a fan of Ineos Grenadiers, you can buy a Pinarello Dogma F in team colours… as long as you have a big stack of cash to throw at it.

Read our review of the Pinarello Dogma F Super Record EPS 2023

The bike is specced with a sponsor-correct Shimano Dura-Ace Di2 groupset. Although Ineos Grenadiers occasionally stray from Shimano for race wheels, this build comes with frequently used Dura-Ace C50s.

The saddle is a departure, though. Although that looks like a £400 Fizik Antares Versus Evo Adaptive 00 pictured, you’ll actually get one from Pinarello’s Most brand. The official spec shows Pirelli P Zero Race rather than Conti tyres too.

Arkea Samsic: Bianchi Oltre RC €13,849

2023 Bianchi Oltre RC Dura Ace - 1

This one is a bit of a cheat because it’s not a team edition, it’s just that Arkea Samsic happens to use the Oltre RC in this colour scheme and with almost the same build: Shimano Dura-Ace Di2 groupsets and wheels.

Okay, the pros use Continental tyres and Selle Italia saddles rather than the Pirelli and Bianchi options fitted here, but aside from the team logos, those are the only real differences.

2023 Bianchi Oltre RC Tour de France Limited Edition - 1

Arkea Samsic will be riding the final stage of this year's race on the Bianchi Oltre RC Tour de France Limited Edition  (above).

> Bianchi introduces Tour de France Oltre RC road bike

Just 176 of these are available, that figure chosen because it's the number of riders starting this year's Tour. The price of these is €15,500 (around £13,280) + VAT.

Team DSM: Scott Foil RC Pro £10,499

2023 Scott Foil RC Pro

Again, we’re bending the rules with this one. Rather than being a true team edition bike in a special finish, Team DSM just happens to go with standard Scott paintwork and a similar component spec.

With a Shimano Dura-Ace Di2 groupset and wheels, Vittoria Corsa tyres, and pretty much everything else from the Scott-owned Syncros brand, the build on this stock model is almost exactly the same as the pros use. The only real difference is the lack of a Shimano Dura-Ace power meter, but you could always get that upgraded.

UAE Team Emirates: Colnago V4Rs frameset £4,999.95

2023 Colnago V4Rs Team Emirates

Colnago offers its top-level V4Rs in a UAE Team Emirates finish. It’s not the most eye-catching finish ever – it’s pretty low key, to be honest – but you get a UAE flag on the seat tube, and red fork lowers with UAE Emirates logos.

Check out our review of the Colnago V4Rs

Team Jayco Alula: Giant TCR Advanced SL Disc Team Frameset £2,999

2023 Giant TCR Advanced SL Disc Team frameset (1)

You can’t buy a complete bike in a Team Jayco Alula finish in the UK, but you get the TCR Advanced SL Disc frameset – which is exactly the same as the pros use.

Getting it built up with a Shimano Dura-Ace Di2 groupset, Cadex wheels and Vittoria tyres would be easy enough with the usual proviso: you'll need a hefty wodge of cash to cover it.

Unfortunately with almost all of these you'll be obliged to buy them with handlebars about 10cm wider than the pros are running and no option to swap them for something narrower!

Right, then you buy the bike and the team changes sponsor, colors or folds.. Then it's either dated or collectable just how you look at it..

Italy dominates in the Giro! Jonathan Milan clinches stage victory, Ganna makes his mark with a stunning breakaway

Jonathan Milan claimed victory in the fourth stage of the Tour of Italy. The Lidl-Trek rider was the strongest in a bunch sprint, which was just as thrilling as Monday's. The stage was eventful, with several riders forced to chase and Biniam Girmay exiting the race after two crashes. Tadej Pogacar retains his pink leader's jersey.

After Monday's tumultuous stage, the riders faced a similar challenge on Tuesday, with another tricky finale. The stage started just after noon in Acqui Terme, a historic spa town located between Turin and Genoa. The first 75 kilometers were mostly flat. During this section, a breakaway formed with initially four riders: Stefan De Bod (EF Education-EasyPost), Francisco Munoz (Polti-Kometa), Lilian Calmejane (Intermarché-Wanty), and none other than Filippo Ganna (INEOS Grenadiers). However, Ganna dropped back to the peloton after half an hour.

Sprinters duel, Jakobsen struggles on climbs

The remaining three riders eventually built up a maximum lead of five minutes. In the peloton, the teams of Olav Kooij, Jonathan Milan, and Tim Merlier closely monitored the gap. Merlier outpaced Girmay in an intermediate sprint, thus increasing his lead over Milan in the points classification: Merlier now had 67 points, with his Italian rival at 63. Shortly thereafter, the climb of the Colle del Belogno began. Here, Calmejane earned nine mountain points, positioning the Frenchman to wear the blue jersey as the second-ranked rider in the mountains classification on Wednesday.

On the Belogno, Visma | Lease a Bike decided it was time to shake things up, at the expense of Fabio Jakobsen. The sprinter from the Netherlands struggled yesterday and had to let go three kilometers before the summit. Tim Merlier and Fernando Gaviria also faced difficulties, though they managed to return without issues. Jakobsen, thanks to his close friend Julius van den Berg, rejoined after chasing for over half an hour. Calmejane saw his mission accomplished and allowed himself to be caught by the peloton.

Girmay crashes twice and is forced to withdraw, chaos at the intermediate sprint requires Martinez and Merlier to chase

During the descent, a crash startled us, involving Matteo Trentin, Ben O'Connor, and Girmay among others. The first two resumed without much trouble, but Girmay took longer to get up. The Eritrean grimaced, stretched a bit, and got back on his bike. Shortly after, he crashed again, and this time it proved too much. Under the watchful eye of team director Aike Visbeek, Girmay had to withdraw.

As the Giro pressed on, the approach to the bonus sprint added an intriguing twist. Cian Uijtdebroeks snagged a second of time gain, causing the peloton to stretch into a single line around a bend. Visma | Lease a Bike and Lidl-Trek increased the pace, resulting in a split. This forced Jakobsen, Merlier, and Dani Martinez, third in the general classification, into a chasing position. The sudden acceleration reignited the competition in the Giro. Roughly 35 kilometers from the finish, the dropped riders managed to reintegrate into the peloton, narrowly escaping greater trouble.

Ganna attacks on Capo Mele, Milan takes advantage of chaos in sprint

Meanwhile, the peloton steadily ate into the lead of the remaining duo up front. With fifteen kilometers to go, the gap had shrunk to just thirty seconds. The final challenge was the Capo Mele, setting the stage for a fierce battle for position. The wide, busy coastal roads were quickly devoured as the final phase approached rapidly. All sprinters were still in the mix, and it was unclear who would manage to survive the climb. The peloton stayed tightly packed as they smoothly navigated the winding coastal roads.

Just before the climb, nearly every sprinter’s team contributed to the effort. Notably, Lidl-Trek and Visma | Lease a Bike kept their trains well-positioned. De Bod and Munoz felt the lactic acid surge through their legs as they began the climb and were quickly spent. On Capo Mele, Ganna made another attempt. The Italian powered through with huge pedal strokes and created a gap of about eighty meters. This was bad news for the sprinters who were already on tired legs.

Ganna reached the top with a six-second lead and tried to push on. Lidl-Trek lead the pursuit but didn’t close the gap quickly. The tall Italian from INEOS continued to hammer down on the descent, but soon the pack was back in sight. At 700 meters, Ganna was caught. The organization among most sprinter teams had broken down, and the sprint was chaotic. Only Lidl-Trek remained well-organized, positioning their sprinter perfectly at the front. In the final 200 meters, Milan took the lead and, with powerful strokes, managed to hold this position to the line. Kaden Groves finished second, with Phil Bauhaus in third.

Niets is minder waar.

A PERFECT CIRCLE, PRIMUS, PUSCIFER announce 2024 tour for MAYNARD's 60th birthday

Maynard James keenan puscifer tool a perfect circle 2020 SHINN, Travis Shinn

Maynard James Keenan is turning 60 next spring, and the TOOL frontman is celebrating in a big way. Keenan's two other bands, A Perfect Circle and Puscifer , will be joining forces with funk-metal greats Primus  for a spectacular collaborative tour that will feature all three bands sharing the stage at the same time.

Dubbed Sessanta, the 2024 trek is a callback to Keenan's 50th birthday celebration, Cinquanta, which was supposed to be a one-off collaboration between APC, Puscifer and Primus in Los Angeles.

Now, that star-studded lineup of musicians will be reuniting for seven West Coast tour dates in the spring of next year, kicking off April 17th (Keenan's actual birthday) in Phoenix and wrapping up the next week with a two-night stint at Colorado's iconic Red Rocks Amphitheater.

The untraditional tour setup is unique in and of itself, but the gigs will also mark A Perfect Circle's first shows since 2018, adding another layer of specialness to the whole excurision.

"It took some massaging, and some long days in rehearsal, but we managed to seamlessly pull off this three-song rotation at Cinquanta, my 50th birthday shows, at The Greek Theatre in 2014," Keenan said in a press release.

"Bands aren't used to simultaneously sharing the stage with other bands, but if anyone can do it, it's Primus, A Perfect Circle, and Puscifer."

See Keenan tease the tour below with a hysterical video of him dottering around a nursing home, and then check out the tour dates. Tickets go on sale this Friday September 15th, and you can scoop yours here .

Lidl-Trek present new sponsorship and fresh red, yellow and blue kit

US-registered WorldTour team secures major boost to budget ahead of Tour de France

The riders of Lidl-Trek show off their new kit including three national champions' jerseys

Lidl-Trek have revealed their new stand-out red, yellow and blue colours at a Lidl supermarket in Bilbao during the Tour de France Grand Départ, kicking off a new and bigger chapter for the US-registered WorldTour team.

The international supermarket chain has replaced coffee brand Segafredo, becoming the lead title sponsor going forward for both the men’s and women’s teams, with significant investment for at least five years.

The women’s team will be the first to race in the new colours at the Giro Donne on Friday. The men will race on Saturday in the opening stage of the Tour de France.

The Lidl sponsorship will allow the team to grow and strengthen as a combined men’s and women’s programme. The team will also create their own Lidl-Trek development team for 2024, building the team from scratch. The women's team will grow to 20 riders, while the men's development team

Cyclingnews understands the team’s budget will grow significantly, lifting the team from the lowest third of the WorldTour team budget list to the top third, not far behind UAE Team Emirates, Jumbo-Visma and Ineos Grenadiers. Tao Geoghegan Hart and Italian sprinter Jonathan Milan have already been linked to Lidl-Trek for 2024 as the team strengthen their men’s roster.

The Lidl-Trek Tour de France squad showed off the new colours in a Lidl supermarket closed to shoppers for the special presentation.

Mads Pedersen, Quinn Simmons, Mattias Skjelmose, Giulio Ciccone, Jasper Stuyven, Alex Kirsch, Juan Pedro Lopez and Tony Gallopin rode down the aisle of the supermarket to reveal the new colours.

New US national champion Simmons has a special stars and stripes jersey and Tour de Suisse winner Mattias Skjelmose has the Danish national champion’s jersey.

Ellen Van Dijk also attended the presentation while taking a break from racing during maternity. She is due to give birth in September and hopes to return to racing in early 2024.

“It means a lot to the team to have a big sponsor like Lidl," Pedersen said.

"They will help us improve with the development team and we can grow and be an even bigger team and so be even more important in WorldTour racing.”

„Osmý worldtourový tým na Czech Tour je naprostá fantazie,“ uvedl ředitel závodu Leopold König.

Největšími současnými hvězdami Soudal Quick-Step jsou dvojnásobní světoví šampioni Remco Evenepoel a Julian Alaphilippe. Stáj v loňském roce slavila 55 vítězství a připsala si i šest etapových vavřínů na Tour de France, Giru d’Italia a Vueltě. „Konkrétní sestavu ještě neznáme, ale věřím, že přijedou v mimořádně silném složení,“ řekl König.
