Frequently Asked Questions

Gold Fever Historical Trail is a great option for families, kids, and couples who enjoy the history and the scenery Holcomb Valley has to offer. If you've never gone off-roading before, this fire road is a great introduction to Jeeping. You'll visit areas even local Big Bear residents have never seen!

The Squeeze Trail is definitely a fun trail for those new to off roading. We'll show you how to use the Jeeps 4-wheel drive system you'll need to get through many obstacles! On some sections you'll need to crawl slowly as we guide you through obstacles that need special attention 😉.

John Bull East , also known as the John Bull Jr. Trail is a great trail for someone "new" to off-roading, but not afraid to experience the Black Diamond difficulty this notorious trail has been given. You'll experience boulders, rock-gardens, and steep hills. Of course, we'll guide you through the entire trail.

To be safe, your Jeep tour should be reserved at least one week in advance, especially if on a weekend (our most popular dates). Click "Reserve Tour" and check our live calendar to find current bookings or call us to reserve a time that works for you.

Please arrive at the Black Yeti Jeep Tours address (noted below) 15 minutes prior to your appointment . It'll give you time to transfer items you may want to bring with you on the tour.

If you have not arrived by the time your tour departs, your costs will not be refunded.

Recommended items:

  • Clothing appropriate for the weather. Keep in mind mountain weather changes very quickly. Long pants, and a thin long sleeve (for those who get cold) should help you feel comfortable.
  • Chapstick. Many choose to enjoy these tours without the Jeep top and doors. You'll want chapstick, especially if your lips are not accustomed to wind and sun.
  • Hat/Sunglasses. A little bit of shade and clarity go a long way. We'd prefer you enjoy the Jeep experience as comfortable as possible.
  • Camera. You'll have the chance to see and experience the mountains, history, and obstacles some people will never have the opportunity to. Bring your camera (GoPro too) so you can enjoy this tour now and share it later with your family and friends.
  • Necessary personal items.

Upon arrival, we'll ask you to confirm your preference of a tour with or without the Jeeps doors and top.

Absolutely not , we don't require our guests to spend more than what the tour costs. If you feel your guide went above and beyond to provide an enjoyable experience, I'm sure a tip is appreciated 😉

You may cancel your Jeep tour (100% refund) if more than 48 hours before your appointment.

Any cancellation within 48 hours of departure is not refunded.

DOIN' OFF-ROAD TOURS RIGHT SINCE 2014

Big bear off-road experience has been servicing the valley for over two decades..

The original experience started with Designated Wakesports in 2004. Desi (owner/operator) had a passion for wakeboarding and boating here on beautiful Big Bear Lake. He wanted to provide an experience that gives guests the same thrill of boating in a high-performance tournament tow boat with one of our professional captains. He also wanted guests to be able to experience the lake at their leisure, so in 2009 Designated Wakesports started providing Sea-Doo rentals. We quickly became one of the top-rated Sea-Doo rental companies on the West Coast. In 2014 Big Bear Off-Road Experience was established. Desi had a passion for off-roading on the world-famous local trails and wanted guests visiting Big Bear to have the opportunity to enjoy the same experiences. Desi started Big Bear Jeep Experience with a small fleet of jeeps in 2014. This experience is one of a kind, putting our guests in the driver seat of one of our customized jeeps while they follow our professional guides in a convoy of jeeps as the guide narrates the entire experience via 2-way radio. This unique driving experience quickly became the #1 rated off-road driving experience in the country. In 2020 BBORE partnered with BRP and added the UTV experience to the list of experiences provided. Over the years, guests request a vehicle capable of taking them and their group into the backcountry, but they didn’t want to drive. Desi listened, and after a long year of custom fabrication, TourZilla was born. TourZilla is the biggest and baddest off-road safari vehicle ever created! TourZilla was designed and built to hold 11 passengers safely and bring them to the backcountry. One of our TourZilla handlers (i.e. guides) will drive TourZilla and narrate the entire experience. All you and your group have to do is sit back and enjoy the thrill of a lifetime as TourZilla conquerors anything the trail has in store!

That's not all we have to offer

DESIGNATED WAKESPORTS

We are here to deliver the best day on the lake for you, your friends, and your family! Designated Wakesports' charters provide everything you need to have an unforgettable day on the Lake. We do it all! From wake surfing, waterskiing, wakeboarding, wakeskating, and kneeboarding to everyone's favorite activity TUBING! If it's legal to do it behind the boat, we do it! If boat charters aren't your thing and you're looking to experience the lake at your own pace then Designated Wakesports is the place for you! We offer a premier fleet of Sea-doos for you to enjoy the lake at your leisure. From mild to wild you're sure to have an amazing experience on our Sea-doos!
