Super godt arrangeret tur med FDM travel
Super god tur til de smukkeste nationalparker i det østlig USA. Starten i Monterey med sejltur på bugten, - med blåhvaler og pukkelhvaler var et mega hit hos hele familien.Tak til Christoffer Dyrendom for godt arrangement.

FDM are professionals
First.. maybe twice in my life have I posted a review. I felt compelled to do so now. When my impulsive daughter wanted to extend her stay in the U.S., the day before her scheduled return flight, she asked me help (it would have cost her a fortune to do so roaming on her mobile phone from California). It was a Friday afternoon and I knew the travel agents at FDM would be looking forward to the weekend, but I called; Pia Toft Laustsen answered. I quickly explained (i min beste dansk) what my daughter wanted to do. Pia knew exactly what to do. It helped that she had purchased 'a changeable ticket' when she booked the flight, which makes it easier, but there are always fees. (Just know that up front; there's no reason to waste time whining about it) My daughter, of course, had to initiate the request (I could be anybody), and Pia arranged an easy way to do this via email. While my daughter handled that, Pia was looking for the cheapest option for the new flight.. without a 32 hour layover. When Pia received the change confirmation from my daughter, she had three great options for her. After a bunch of "hmmm... welll.. maybe.." back and forth with my daughter over Facebook, I told Pia (who had stayed on the line with me) my daughter's choice. Within seconds she had a contract ready and sent the invoice (betalings faktura) to my daughter (CC: to me - just to speed things up). As soon as I paid the invoice (which again took seconds because of the payment link), Pia executed the transaction, emailed my daughter her new itinerary. I think the whole thing took 20-25 minutes, from "Far... kan du ikke bare..." to "DONE!". There are a lot of discount travel bureaus out there. If you want the security of experts, choose FDM !!

FDM giver tryghed på rejsen
Da vi på et tidspunkt kort før vores hjemrejse fra Canada til Danmark kunne se, at vi nok ikke kunne nå vores planlagte fly, kontaktede vi FDM, Morten Kirkegaard, som svarede hurtigt tilbage. Det beroligede os og vi fandt en løsning, så vi kunne komme med det planlagte fly. Årsagen var en storm i det sydlige Labrador.

Har haft en forrygende tur til USA
Har haft en forrygende tur til USA, 3 uger med en meget høj grad af egen tilrettelæggelse. Har også tidligere været tilfreds med at benytte FDM travel, når jeg havde ferieplaner, der skulle tilrettelægges efter egne tanker og planer. I mit tilfælde stod de for fly og 2 * 2 nætters hotelophold, mens jeg selv klarede resten undervejs for at have mulighed for løbende tilpasning.

Den bedste tur, man kan ønske sig
Turen til USA's nationalparker var veltilrettelagt af FDM-travel, men i samarbejde med os, så vi fik den bedst mulige vejledning til at opleve det, vi gerne ville, nemlig storslået natur. Rejseagenten var venlig og velkvalificeret og tog sig god tid til at snakke med os på forhånd. Hun sørgede for, at vi fik kvalitet for pengene - vi kunne næppe have tilrettelagt turen selv og sparet ret meget. Hotellerne var af forskellig kvalitet, men det er OK - og ofte vinder de mindre, småby-moteller ved deres hjemlige venlighed. Anbefales varmt

Leje af bil hos Avis via FDM med…
Leje af bil hos Avis via FDM med medlemsrabat fungere godt. Vi har gjort det en del gange og er indtil nu sluppet for seriøse forsøg på plat og svindel. Noget der eller er almindeligt i branchen. Da vi skulle aflevere bilen i Faro stod regnen ned i stænger. Så forærede de os en paraply. Sikkert en der er blevet glemt af en anden kunde, men alligevel..

Tur syd på i bil til Frankrig og Tyskland.
Tur syd på i bil til Frankrig og Tyskland fra den 2/9 - 16/9 2023. Første overnatning ved Køln (1 overnatning) var ok. Næste stop St. Malo (3 overnatninger)) var rigtig godt. Næste stop Paris (4 overnatninger), hvor hotellet ikke helt levede op til forventningerne. Værelset lå på femte sal, elevatoren var i udu de første par dage og aircondition var en gulvting, som ikke kunne hamle op med de 35˚ der var uden for. Videre til Nancy, hvor værelset var meget lav standard og meget brugt med pletter på gulvet og væg og kun en gulvting som aircondition. Virkede ikke rart. Morgenmaden var ikke noget at råbe hurra for. Videre til Freiburg, hvor vi igen havnede på femte sal, her kørte elevatoren dog til fjerde sal. Her var der aircondition, morgenmaden var rigtig flot og en dejlig stemning. Vores oplevelser iøvrigt overskygger de uheldige hoteloplevelser vi havde med den dejlige meget varme tur vi have.

Hej Lars Tak for din anmeldelse. jeg beklager de gener i har oplevet på jeres tur til Tyskland og Frankrig. Gjorde i os opmærksom på ved bestilling at i ønskede hotelværelser med aircondition? ellers kan man ikke være sikker på at få dette. Ellers er man velkommen til undervejs at kontakte FDM travel hvis man ikke synes hotellerne lever op til de ønsker man havde givet til rejsespecialisten. Ellers har vi ikke nogen mulighed for at udbedre. Jeg er dog glad for at høre i havde nogle gode oplevelser, og alligevel fik en god tur. Vh Camilla, FDM travel

Tak til FDM rejser
Martin W. N. fra FDM var en stor hjælp for os. Helt fra planlægning af vores rejse til Florida og til sidst ved afregning af diverse udgifter i.f.m. billeje. FDM sendte os i rette tid inden vores rejse flere gode mails med rejseråd, som sparede os for mange unødvendige udgifter.

For lidt planlægning/service
Jeg synes ikke, det er smart på en kør-selv-ferie, at der er valgt hoteller inde midt i byer med smalle, brolagte gader. Der burde i det mindste en kørevejledning til. Det burde også være en selvfølge, at I oplyser om parkeringsmuligheder og tilbyder at reservere en plads. Vi droppede det sidste hotel i Bremen og fandt et andet, da vi ikke ville stille en bil med to dyre elcykler og for flere tusind kroner vin ved kantstenen. Vi var to, på et hotel var der dobbeltværelse og morgenmad til én person. Vi måtte tilkøbe en selv. Klistermærker til de lande, vi kørte i, måtte vi selv finde. Vi fik et link, men derfra var det ret bøvlet Vi vælger nok at arrangere selv næste gang. Det er ikke én dato, men et 3 ugers forløb, jeg skriver startdatoen for rejsen

Hej Inga Jeg er ked af at høre at du ikke føler dig oplyst omkring de hoteller der var booket til jer. Inden man laver den endelige booking, får man tilsendt en rejseplan med oversigt over de valgte hoteller, så man har mulighed for at godkende dem, eller få dem ændret. Det lyder til at der er sket en fejl ang. morgenmaden på hotellet hvor der kun var morgenmad til en. I er velkommen til at kontakte jeres rejsespcialist med dette. Motorvejs og miljømærkater skal man selv sørge for, det er korrekt. vi vil gerne give råd og vejledning. men man skal selv stå for at få dem købt, da der oftest skal bruges oplysninger omkring jeres bil som vi ikke kender til. Ferien var rigtig godt tilrettelagt af vores rejsekonsulent Anne-Dorthe. Vi var ligeledes godt tilfredse med de steder vi boede undervejs i de 3½ uge på øerne.

Vi kom aldrig afsted.

Avis bil gennem FDM…
Jeg havde lejet en Avis bil i Grækenland gennem FDM Travel. Alt fungerede fint, både ved afhentning og ved aflevering. Jeg har brugt ordningen en del gange i forskellige lande og har altid været tilfreds.

16 dage i paradis.
16 dage i paradis. Vi har 2 personer afsted og vi blev positiv overrasket da vi havde anvendt kontakt formular hvor der stod Fdm ville vende tilbage inden for 5 dage.. dagen efter ringe Stine Knap om formiddagen. Hurtigt blev der snakket ønsker og pris og vi aftale et tlf møde hvor min kone også kunne være med. Inden for 1 uge blev vi enige og fik bestilt vores rejse. Der må vi tage hatten af for Fdm lige så go en oplevelse det var at bestille lige så fed en ferie var det at være på. Og da en tropisk orkan kom i nærheden af hvor vi var blev vi kontaktet med besked om hvordan vi skulle forholde os hvis det blev nødvendig hvem og hvor vi skulle kontakte og at de ville holde øje med fly med mere og kontakte os hvis det blev nødvendigt at lave ændringer. Vi bestiller helt sikkert vores næste rejse gennem Fdm og rigtig gerne gennem Stine Knap… Verdens klasse oplevelse

Det var smuk tur, med positive og negative oplevelser
Det var en spændende og smuk cykeltur, med mange dejlige og hyggelige oplevelser. Der var både positive og negative oplevelser. Positive: Meget pæne, smukke og hyggelige hoteller. Dejlige madposer med typiske Alsace produkter og rigeligt. Negative: Kortet var ikke et cykelkort, men en kopi (ringe) af et turistkort. Rutebeskrivelse på engelsk er ikke i orden. Vi måtte bruge gps ofte, hvilket bruger meget strøm.

Super oplevelse

Roadtrip Californien og vest USA
Er netop hjemkommet fra godt 3 ugers fantastisk roadtrip i Californien og vestlige USA. Planlægning og rute med indhold har jeg haft den kæmpestore fornøjelse at lave sammen med Mette Majbritt Larsen fra FDM i Ålborg. Jeg kan på det varmeste anbefale hende (og FDM). Hun er så engageret og vidende om USA og alle de muligheder en sådan tur kan indeholde; lydhør overfor ønsker og kommer med relevante input til selve ruten, særlige oplevelser ( fx Grand Canyon helikoptertur, Canyon walk, Las Vegas show…) og utraditionelle bosteder ( fx Glamping, ranch..) der bare har gjort vores rejse endnu mere fantastisk og uforglemmelig. Så planlægger I tur til USA kan I med stor fordel kontakte Mette Majbritt og jeres tur vil være i de bedste hænder !!

Is Southwest about to end its free-for-all seating?
The company says it is ‘very seriously studying’ alternatives to its signature open-seating system.
Southwest Airlines fans know the drill: Check in to your flight exactly 24 hours in advance and secure your spot in line to board the plane. What seat you’ll end up in? That’s a mystery until the last minute.
A puzzle to some and an invigorating challenge to others, Southwest’s unique boarding process and one-class cabin are now under the microscope as the airline looks for ways to prop up its financial performance. In a call with investors Thursday, Southwest CEO Bob Jordan said executives are “very seriously studying” seating and the way passengers board the planes.
“It’s been several years since we last studied this in-depth, and customer preference and expectations change over time,” Jordan said. “We are also studying the operations and financial benefits of any potential change.”
Unlike most airlines, Southwest doesn’t have a premium section on its planes that commands higher fares. Where other carriers might charge extra for a cushy seat in the first few rows or an extra-legroom option near the front, Southwest customers can grab whatever seat is open. A spot near the front won’t come with any additional frills, however.
In a news release announcing quarterly earnings, a conference call discussing those results and an interview with CNBC , representatives said they were taking a deep look at customer preferences around seating and boarding. The current open-seating system was put in place when airliners were generally less full, the company said, noting that preferences change as planes fill up.
“There’s no decision, there’s nothing to report other than we are seriously looking at this,” Jordan said in response to a question about seating. “But early indications both for our customers and for Southwest look pretty darn interesting.”
While Southwest has contemplated the possibility of assigned seating for nearly two decades at least , the review has accelerated over the past six months, the CEO said. Jordan said the company will say more during an event for investors in September. The company has also recently said that it is preparing to add red-eye flights in the next couple of years.
Today, Southwest passengers can pay more to end up in a better seat, even without picking that seat in advance. Upgrades that provide priority boarding and early check-in give customers the first pick of spots. The airline makes “hundreds of millions of dollars” from those upgraded boarding options, executives said last year.
“They’re in kind of a pickle regarding revenue generation, so they’re looking at everything,” said Robert W. Mann, a consultant and former airline executive. “I think what they have seen is that when they’ve tweaked their existing cattle call … they find it to be very lucrative.”
He said that if the airline could deliver a more “pleasant” boarding process, or seat selection for a fee, it would probably be attractive to travelers.
“There’s nothing about their boarding process that they couldn’t improve,” Mann said.
Travel analyst Henry Harteveldt, president of Atmosphere Research Group , said he did research more than a decade ago that found a large number of people avoided Southwest because it did not offer extra-legroom seats, assigned seats or a premium business-class cabin. He said that the airline could make “an enormous amount of money” by adding assigned seating — and that travelers would probably welcome knowing what seat they would end up in.
“I think it could be an incredibly positive thing for the airline, but I recognize that Southwest has a more-than-50-year history of being egalitarian, of having open seating and being different from other airlines,” he said.

The trains and stations of the Moscow Metro

The Moscow Metro is the third most intensive subway system in the world after Tokyo and Seoul subways. The first line was opened on May 15, 1935. Since 1955, the metro has the name of V.I. Lenin.
The system consists of 12 lines with a total length of 305.7 km. Forty four stations are recognized cultural heritage. The largest passenger traffic is in rush hours from 8:00 to 9:00 and from 18:00 to 19:00.
Cellular communication is available on most of the stations of the Moscow Metro. In March 2012, a free Wi-Fi appeared in the Circle Line train. The Moscow Metro is open to passengers from 5:20 to 01:00. The average interval between trains is 2.5 minutes.
The fare is paid by using contactless tickets and contactless smart cards, the passes to the stations are controlled by automatic turnstiles. Ticket offices and ticket vending machines can be found in station vestibules.

Touring the Top 10 Moscow Metro Stations

Komsomolskaya metro station looks like a museum. It has vaulted ceilings and baroque decor.
Hidden underground, in the heart of Moscow, are historical and architectural treasures of Russia. These are Soviet-era creations – the metro stations of Moscow.
Our guide Maria introduced these elaborate metro stations as “the palaces for the people.” Built between 1937 and 1955, each station holds its own history and stories. Stalin had the idea of building beautiful underground spaces that the masses could enjoy. They would look like museums, art centers, concert halls, palaces and churches. Each would have a different theme. None would be alike.
The two-hour private tour was with a former Intourist tour guide named Maria. Maria lived in Moscow all her life and through the communist era of 60s to 90s. She has been a tour guide for more than 30 years. Being in her 60s, she moved rather quickly for her age. We traveled and crammed with Maria and other Muscovites on the metro to visit 10 different metro stations.

Moscow subways are very clean
To Maria, every street, metro and building told a story. I couldn’t keep up with her stories. I don’t remember most of what she said because I was just thrilled being in Moscow. Added to that, she spilled out so many Russian words and names, which to one who can’t read Cyrillic, sounded so foreign and could be easily forgotten.
The metro tour was the first part of our all day tour of Moscow with Maria. Here are the stations we visited:
1. Komsomolskaya Metro Station is the most beautiful of them all. Painted yellow and decorated with chandeliers, gold leaves and semi precious stones, the station looks like a stately museum. And possibly decorated like a palace. I saw Komsomolskaya first, before the rest of the stations upon arrival in Moscow by train from St. Petersburg.
2. Revolution Square Metro Station (Ploshchad Revolyutsii) has marble arches and 72 bronze sculptures designed by Alexey Dushkin. The marble arches are flanked by the bronze sculptures. If you look closely you will see passersby touching the bronze dog's nose. Legend has it that good luck comes to those who touch the dog's nose.

3. Arbatskaya Metro Station served as a shelter during the Soviet-era. It is one of the largest and the deepest metro stations in Moscow.

4. Biblioteka Imeni Lenina Metro Station was built in 1935 and named after the Russian State Library. It is located near the library and has a big mosaic portrait of Lenin and yellow ceramic tiles on the track walls.

5. Kievskaya Metro Station was one of the first to be completed in Moscow. Named after the capital city of Ukraine by Kiev-born, Nikita Khruschev, Stalin's successor.

6. Novoslobodskaya Metro Station was built in 1952. It has 32 stained glass murals with brass borders.

7. Kurskaya Metro Station was one of the first few to be built in Moscow in 1938. It has ceiling panels and artwork showing Soviet leadership, Soviet lifestyle and political power. It has a dome with patriotic slogans decorated with red stars representing the Soviet's World War II Hall of Fame. Kurskaya Metro Station is a must-visit station in Moscow.

8. Mayakovskaya Metro Station built in 1938. It was named after Russian poet Vladmir Mayakovsky. This is one of the most beautiful metro stations in the world with 34 mosaics painted by Alexander Deyneka.

9. Belorusskaya Metro Station is named after the people of Belarus. In the picture below, there are statues of 3 members of the Partisan Resistance in Belarus during World War II. The statues were sculpted by Sergei Orlov, S. Rabinovich and I. Slonim.
10. Teatralnaya Metro Station (Theatre Metro Station) is located near the Bolshoi Theatre.
