Not only are they clean; you can know what level of amenities are offered making it easy to choose a hotel that best suits your budget and your preferences.

Save time planning your trip by using our helpful articles. AAA’s team of travel editors has created one-day itineraries that you can follow exactly to get the most out of a short excursion. Alternatively, use them as a guide to get an idea of where things are in a city to assist in planning your trip, so you don’t waste valuable vacation time.

For more than 80 years, AAA’s expert inspectors have been evaluating hotels and restaurants across the United States, Canada, Mexico, Costa Rica and the Caribbean. They conduct surprise evaluations based on a rigorous set of guidelines to provide members with detailed comments on what to expect at AAA Diamond-designated hotels and restaurants.

Unlike other rating systems that are based solely on travelers’ experiences, AAA inspectors determine Diamond designations on-site and according to established guidelines and requirements. The AAA Diamond Program reflects the latest in industry trends and travelers’ expectations. The designations not only indicate the level of amenities that you can expect at a property; they also assure that hotels offer a clean, comfortable experience no matter the budget.

Our team of AAA travel editors has been providing travel advice and information for members since the release of the first TourBook in 1926. They are experienced travelers who provide in-depth information on cities and attractions as well as sample travel plans. With the AAA TourBook guides, AAA’s travel information is more convenient than ever.

There are a few ways to get AAA maps. Firstly, you can stop by your local AAA office to pick up paper maps of U.S., Canada and Mexico — for free for AAA members. Plus, select offices carry an atlas of North America.

The second way you can get maps is via the AAA Map Gallery , an online gallery where you can access printable maps of destinations in the U.S., Canada and Mexico, as well as maps of cruise terminals and national parks.

The other way to access maps is with TripTik Travel Planner . The TripTik tool allows you to plan and save routes, find important points of interest like hotels (including pet-friendly hotels), campgrounds, restaurants and attractions as well as identify locations that offer discounts and savings to AAA members.

The LPGA’s development tour keeps getting bigger and better.

The Epson Tour announced Monday the elevation of the purse at the Carlisle Arizona Women’s Golf Classic to $400,000, making it the largest on the circuit. The first-place check will be $60,000.

The event will also have a new home, as it has pulled up stakes from Longbow Golf Club in Mesa and will head to the TPC Scottsdale Champions Course. While the TPC Scottsdale Stadium Course is the longtime home of the PGA Tour’s WM Phoenix Open, the Champions Course will once again host the final stage of the PGA Tour Champions Q School in December. The Champions Course has also hosted the Advocates Professional Golf Association Tour. The Champions Course will host the Epson Tour May 9-12, 2024.

Furthermore, Epson and the Carlisle Companies announced a contract extension for the tournament, which is one the few 72-hole events on the tour, through 2026. Carlisle came on as title sponsor in 2021.

“We are constantly seeking partners who share our goal of giving our athletes the best opportunities to succeed and pursue their dreams of playing on the LPGA Tour, which is exactly what Carlisle has consistently done from day one of this great event,” said Jody Brothers, Epson Tour Chief Business and Operating Officer.

The Carlisle Arizona Women’s Golf Classic held a spot in March on the schedule when it was at Longbow. Previous winners of the Carlisle are Gabriela Ruffels (2023), Fatima Fernandez Cano (2022) and Ruixin Liu (2021).

Five storylines to watch at the Epson Tour opener, including a mother of two and some new faces

The LPGA battle in Singapore on Sunday featured a couple of Epson Tour graduates. In fact, HSBC Women’s World Championship winner Hannah Green and runner-up Celine Boutier were part of the same graduating class in 2017.

The 2024 Epson Tour season kicks off this week in Florida, and a total of 192 players have “graduated” to the LPGA over the past 25 years. Many of them, like Green and Boutier, have gone on to win major championships.

This year’s schedule includes 20 events with a record $5 million in total prize money. The average purse size has increased $20,000 since last season.

Consider that in 2013, the tour played for a total of $1.6 million.

Another noteworthy change: the season-ending Epson Tour Championship is moving from LPGA International in Daytona Beach, Florida, to Indian Wells (California) Golf Resort next October.

Here are five things to know about the 2024 Epson Tour season:

More ways to get on tour

In the beginning, only three LPGA cards were given out each season on the developmental tour from 1999 to 2002. That number increased to five in 2003 and then doubled to 10 in 2008. It held steady there for 15 years.

Beginning in 2024, 15 cards will be handed out through a new points-based ranking system (rather than the money list).

Those who finish in the top 10 will continue to earn Category 9 status. Those from 11-15 will earn Category 15 status for 2025 and will be zippered with LPGA members finishing Nos. 101-125 on the Race to CME Globe Points List.

Familiar start

The Epson Tour kicks off March 8-10 with the Florida’s Natural Classic, which has been a staple on the developmental circuit for 15 years. Former Texas player Agathe Laisne won last year’s event at the Country Club of Winter Haven. It’s the first of a three-week swing in the Sunshine State.

Former LPGA commissioner Mike Whan caddied for Mexico ’s Lili Alvarez back in 2010 at the event. Last year, new Epson tour chief Jody Brothers met the tour by serving as a first-tee starter. He also worked in the equipment trailer, helping to strip grips to keep the line moving.

Jean Reynolds won the first edition of the Florida’s Natural in 2009.

LPGA veterans in the opener

There are a number of LPGA veterans in the field this week in Winter Haven, including LPGA winners Annie Park and Cydney Clanton.

Category F on the Epson Tour priority list allows up to 12 players who are on the current year’s LPGA priority list to compete. In addition, Category C allows players who finished a minimum of 72 holes at the previous year’s LPGA Q-Series to compete. That would include players like Sophia Schubert, Lauren Stephenson and Emma Talley, who are listed in this week’s field.

Mother of two

https://www.instagram.com/p/Cx8VMRLOgYK/?img_index=1

Rachel Rohanna spent years as the only mom on the Epson Tour. And now, she starts 2024 as a mother of two after she and husband Ethan Virgili welcomed a second daughter, Greenlee Kay, on Sept. 24.

Rohanna once suffered a four-stroke penalty after discovering that daughter Gemelia’s 23-inch U.S. Kids club had slipped to the bottom of her bag during an Epson Tour event. Mercifully, that penalty didn’t keep Rohanna from earning an LPGA card three years ago.

Epson Tour player Emma Jandel, now on maternity leave, is due in March.

https://www.instagram.com/p/C4EI0TTurcY/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==

That first-day-of-school feeling will feel even stronger for those starting their first full season of professional golf. Players like Erica Shepherd of Duke, a two-time USGA champion, and Julia Johnson of Ole Miss, who has worked extensively on Golf Channel broadcasts since helping the Rebels win their first NCAA title, are among those ready to start chasing their dreams in Winter Haven.

aaa epson tour

HONOLULU (AP) — The Epson Tour remains the primary path to the LPGA Tour, now with larger purses and a new wrinkle on how to get into those tournaments.

The Epson Tour released its 2024 schedule on Tuesday, most noteworthy the five tournaments with $300,000 purses or more — the largest at $400,000 for the Carlisle Arizona Women’s Golf Classic — and the Tour Championship moving from Florida to California.

New to the circuit is switching from money to points to determine the top 10 players who receive LPGA cards the following year. That now is in line with the Race to CME Globe on the LPGA Tour, and the Tour Championship will get a 30% boost in points.

The wrinkle is the end of Monday qualifying, relying instead on the Epson Tour’s relationship with the Women’s All Pro Tour sponsored by Annika Sorenstam. The winner and runner-up at those 10 events get into future Epson Tour events.

Among the goals was to allow the players to compete for more money while spending less. Epson Tour players typically drive to tournaments when they can.

The season starts March 8 with three straight weeks in Florida, capped by the new Atlantic Beach Classic and its $300,000 purse. Next are four tournaments in the West, two in Arizona. The Arizona Women’s Golf Classic moves to the second course at TPC Scottsdale.

Martin Trainer reacts after missing his putt on the 18th green during a playoff for the PGA Zurich Classic golf tournament at TPC Louisiana in Avondale, La., Sunday, April 28, 2024. The team of Rory McIlroy, of Northern Ireland, and Shane Lowry, of Ireland, defeated Trainer and teammate Chad Ramey to win the tournament. (AP Photo/Gerald Herbert)

The Midwest swing in June includes two in Michigan and a new tournament in Indiana (Otter Creek Championship with a $300,000 purse).

“It’s been a focus of mine to create not necessarily a drivable tour, but one that athletes can keep expenses as low as possible,” said Jody Brothers, the chief business and operations officer of the Epson Tour. “The worst thing is the athlete who can play at the next level but didn’t have the finances.”

The average purse is $250,000, and every tournament offers at least $200,000.

The Epson Tour Championship moves from the LPGA International at its Daytona Beach, Florida, headquarters to Indian Wells in the California desert, closer to Epson’s headquarters in North America. That will be Oct. 3-6.

The Epson Tour officially became the feeder tour in 1999 and has produced such players as Karrie Webb, Lorena Ochoa and Inbee Park, all of whom are in the LPGA Hall of Fame. Current players include Nelly Korda and double major winner Lilia Vu.

THE CLUB PRO

Michael Block is in The American Express this week as the PGA section winner, a longstanding tradition. Block is best known for his hole-in-one in the final round of the PGA Championship at Oak Hill last year that led to a tie for 15th and return to the PGA Championship this year.

Ken Weyand is not in the field for the Hero Dubai Desert Classic on the European tour, and for that most people should be thankful.

Weyand earned the wrong kind of attention last week when he accepted a sponsor invitation to the Dubai Invitational, which had a 60-man field for the pro-am format. He is the golf director at The Grove XXIII, the exclusive club in South Florida belonging to Michael Jordan.

How he got into the field is unclear, though Abdullah Al Naboodah is believed to be a member at The Grove and his family sponsored the Dubai Invitational.

Weyand opened with an 87, and because it was a 60-man field, there was no cut. By the end of the week, he followed with scores of 82, 82 and 86. That put him at 53 over par, 72 shots behind the winner, Tommy Fleetwood.

LETTER WRITING

The new PGA Tour schedule of limited fields in elevated events has created plenty of changes in schedules depending on a player’s status.

It also means writing letters to tournament directors in search of a sponsor’s exemption.

“Been a long time,” said former U.S. Open champion Webb Simpson, who has not written for an exemption since 2008. “Right when I turned pro, I got five spots that summer. So I kind of remembered how to do it. My letter this time was a lot better than the last time.”

Simpson revealed the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am already has offered him a spot. That has an 80-man field and a $20 million purse as a signature event.

But he did not write to Tiger Woods for the Genesis Invitational at Riviera.

“It’s my son’s birthday that week,” Simpson said. “I’ve told him before I hate missing it because I do love Riv and supporting him, but I’m not going.”

One thing is certain: Those four exemptions at the signature events will get close scrutiny, especially tournaments that players who might need a spot have a long history of supporting.

Meanwhile, Justin Thomas is No. 28 in the world and would need to stay in the top 30 for two more weeks to avoid needing an exemption to Pebble Beach. He makes his 2024 debut this week at The American Express.

THE FINE PRINT

Grayson Murray is assured of being in all the $20 million signature events the rest of the year from his Sony Open victory .

But his win is likely to knock someone out.

While PGA Tour winners get into signature events for the rest of the year, that category falls behind two other categories -- the top 10 not otherwise eligible in the current FedEx Cup standings, and the leading five from the “swing” series of events that lead up to the signature tournament.

Murray earned 500 points for his win, and with only two tournaments left before Pebble Beach, he is all but assured of staying in the top five. That means whoever finishes sixth would not get in.

The 10 from the current FedEx Cup does not apply to the signature events at Pebble Beach and Riviera; those are based on the final standings from last year.

Similarly, if Justin Thomas is among the top five in the swing series, that would take precedence over him being exempt from being in the top 30 in the world.

PHOTOGRAPHER AWARD

Dom Furore has been chosen for the PGA of America Lifetime Achievement Award in photojournalism.

Furore started with Golf Digest in 1986 and among his early roles was to do a swing sequence with 16-year-old Tiger Woods in California. Woods came to trust him so much that he asked Furore to photograph his wedding in 2004 and his family photo.

Furore has covered majors, other tournaments and golf courses for Golf Digest and its former publication Golf World. That took him fishing with Jack Nicklaus in Russia, accompanying Woods’ mother to her homeland in Thailand and going to Vietnam to photograph the family of Woods’ namesake, Col. Tiger Phong.

He will be recognized during the Golf Writers Association of America awards dinner on April 10 during the Masters.

Patrick Cantlay continues to run in high-end financial circles. Cantlay has signed a partnership with Apollo, a New York-based asset management firm, in which he will wear the logo on the front of his hat. He previously had a hat deal with Goldman Sachs. ... Kevin Chappell, who tried the LIV qualifying event, is playing the Dubai Desert Classic as one of five PGA Tour players who finished among the top 200 in the FedEx Cup. ... Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, along with “Play Yellow” co-founders Jack and Barbara Nicklaus, have crossed $100 million in money raised through golf to help change kids’ health. ... Porsche remains on the European tour schedule as a sponsor but with a new tournament. Instead of its name on the European Open, the German automaker is title sponsor of the Singapore Classic on March 21-24.

STAT OF THE WEEK

Hideki Matsuyama is out of the top 50 in the world ranking for the first time since the week before the 2013 U.S. Open at Merion.

“I was running around telling people I’m a millionaire — in Japanese yen.” — Chan Kim on his first good finish on the Japan Golf Tour. He tied for 14th in the 2015 Mizuno Open and earned 1,442,222 yen. That converted to $12,008.

Five Things to Know About the Epson Tour Championship

aaa epson tour

The Epson Tour closes the 2022 season this week with the Epson Tour Championship at LPGA International, Jones Course. The 72-hole event begins on Thursday, October 6, with the final round scheduled for Sunday, October 9.

The field of 108 players from the United States and around the globe will compete for a $250,000 total purse and a $37,500 winner's payout.

Final Push for LPGA Tour Cards

This week boasts 34 of the top 37 players in the Ascensus Race for the Card standings as they prepare for the year's final event. No. 1 Xiaowen Yin, No. 2 Lucy Li, and No. 3 Linnea Strom are a lock and have secured their LPGA Tour cards for 2022. While there are no guarantees, players No. 4 Grace Kim and No. 5 Celine Borge are in a great position to earn their card, and the top 37 players on the current money list have a mathematical chance at an LPGA Tour card this week. If Katelyn Sisk, who ranks 37th in the Ascensus Race for the Card standings with $38,104 in earnings, wins the event, her total earnings would jump to $75,604, which is more than current No. 10 Alexa Pano, who has earned $75,278 (looking at if they were to make no additional money this week).

Thammaraks Back to Defend

Last October, Prima Thammaraks went 22-under to win the Epson Tour Championship and walked away with her first trophy on the Epson Tour. Entering the final round in second and one shot behind 54-hole leader Daniela Iacobelli, Thammaraks posted a 7-under 65, cruising to victory. The Thailand native smashed the 72-hole record for the event by three strokes set by Riuxin Lin in 2018.

A Second Chance

A look at Daytona Beach’s leaderboard from 2021 shows Prima Thammaraks winning by two-stroke for her first Epson Tour victory. Two players who finished in the top-10 behind Thammaraks at last year’s event return to the field again this year. Daniela Iacobelli, who finished T5 in 2021 and is no stranger to the winner’s circle in Daytona Beach, is looking to pick up win number two this season. Another win would move Iacobelli into the top 10 and another shot on the LPGA Tour. Michaela Finn also finished inside the top-10 last season and is ready for her win number one.

Epson Tour Player of the Year Race

The player earning the most money at the season's end is honored as the Epson Player of the Year. Although No. 1 Xiaowen Yin is in the driver's seat with $117,443 in earnings, the award is still up for grabs.

With Lucy Li sitting this event out and a win by Linnea Strom, fans could see a change at the top with Strom taking home Epson Player of the Year honors even if Yin finishes second.

If Yin misses the cut and doesn't earn money, Grace Kim, No. 4 on the money list with $89,720, Celine Borge No. 5 with 87,546, Gabriella Then No. 6 with 85,416, Gina Kim No. 7 with $80,484, and Kiira Riihijarvi No. 8 with $80,208 must win the event to take over the top spot held currently by Yin.

Gaelle Truet Rookie of the Year Race

The Gaelle Truet Rookie of the Year award is given to the Epson Tour rookie that earns the most money.

Xiaowen Yin has had a solid hold on the top spot in the rookie race for the better part of 2022 and is currently one of four rookies that sit inside the top 10 of the Ascensus Race for the Card standings at No. 1. Grace Kim is presently second amongst rookies with $89,720, Gina Kim third with $80,484 and Alexa Pano fourth with $75,275. They will need to win this week for a chance to jump Yin in the standings.

The award is named after Gaelle Truet, who played on the Duramed FUTURES Tour from 2004-2006 before she died tragically in a car accident.

Epson Tour - Road to the LPGA

Epson is proud to be the title sponsor for the Official Qualifying Tour of the LPGA, now entering its 44th season. The mission of the Epson Tour is to produce a pipeline of extraordinary women golfers who are pursuing their dream of playing on the LPGA Tour.

Epson and the LPGA are elevating the "ROAD to the LPGA" as Epson's partnership enhances the Qualifying Tour by supporting minimum purse levels of $200,000 and lowering player-entry fees. Also, the yearly Ambassador Program, beginning in 2022, will provide financial assistance to recent Epson Tour graduates for continued growth.

Epson shares the LPGA's commitment to enrich communities and change the face of golf by making the sport more diverse, accessible and inclusive.

"Epson’s support for the LPGA and the Epson Tour underscores a corporate commitment to empowering women and helping launch the careers of these exceptional individuals. We are honored to have the opportunity to support these elite athletes and their individual journeys to qualify for the LPGA Tour, and beyond". "

Keith Kratzberg President and Chief Executive Officer Epson America, Inc.
