Epic concert, awesome performance at a great theater. it was insanely hot but by the water Jones Beach kept cool. Brent sand awesomely but I was a bit disappointed by the lack of songs from the new album. They sang Get Up but that was it. They also only sang their most popular songs but almost none from their first few albums and none at all that weren’t their most famous. I would’ve liked to hear some more somgs that weren’t as popular as I’ve heard them many times. It was great that they coheadlined with godsmack as they put on a kickass performance also. They really create the classic rock atmosphere with their fans. The crowd was on fire from shinedown and godsmack kept it alive. It also seemed to me that Brent’s voice sounded slightly different, maybe it was mechanized or something because it sounded higher pitched. I’m gusssing he lost his voice over the tour and had to compensate, better that than cancel the show, this was also the last show of the first leg so they’re taking a break. Altogether best concert I’ve ever been.

I really had a great evening, this was my first time seeing them live and they were a lot better than I expected. Brent did talk a lot during songs, sometimes telling us things about the band that were sort of necessary but other times it almost seemed like he kept talking just so he wouldn’t have to play. I was also shocked to realise only 3 songs of their new album were performed; Attention Attention (the album title as well as a song) wasn’t even played, and instead they relied on material from the early 2000’s which I was unfamiliar with (I only know their last two albums in depth). The crowd loved it and could all sing along (so maybe it was my fault for not recognising as much) but I am still confused why the band came on stage with the start of Attention Attention playing and to not even perform that song on stage. Brent wore a jacket with the ‘!’ of the album cover which was also featured on the drums so it all seemed that the evening would be full of new material and still they didn’t go into their new album as much as I’d hoped, they did about 3 songs each from each record. This doesn’t mean I didn’t have a great time, on the contrary, but it didn’t make sense to me that the new album had come out months ago and 75% of what they played was old material.

I love listening to Shinedown's music and I bought Attention Attention. Wednesday, May 16, 2018 was my first time to see Shinedown live in concert. They did not disappoint me. All four band members were full of energy on stage and very engaged with the entire audience (or so it seemed - that's how good they are.) They also sound as good live as they do on their albums which is often not the case with many bands. And the bass player and lead guitar player sang backup and their harmony was spot on. The lead singer briefly explained the meaning behind some of their songs. He also walked onto the floor several times and interacted with the audience on the upper decks and the crowd was very polite and gave him room to perform. Their light show is also very good. Lots of laser lights and designs. The only complaint I might have is there was too much smoke used and at this particular venue it became overwhelming to some. I liked Shinedown live in concert so much, I am purchasing tickets to see them again in a August with Godsmack. Shinedown is phenomenal live!!

Olivia Rodrigo Adds Asia and Australia Legs to Guts World Tour

Olivia Rodrigo at the 2022 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony Red Carpet held at the Microsoft Theatre on November 5, 2022 in Los Angeles, California.

Olivia Rodrigo will tour Asia and Australia for the first time in her career, the singer announced Wednesday. Rodrigo has added nine international dates to her massive “ Guts ” world tour for a total of 82 shows globally.

The new dates kick off Sept. 16 in Bangkok, Thailand and continue through Seoul, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Singapore, Melbourne, and Sydney, wrapping up on Oct. 19 at Qudos Bank Arena. Additional dates may be added as Rodrigo wrote on social media, “Stay tuned, Manila!” Fans in the comment sections of her social posts are eager to hear when and if Rodrigo will also be adding Latin American dates to the trek but that has yet to be confirmed.

Popular on Variety

The “Guts” tour has since made stops in New York, Houston and Dublin, and will make its way towards London in the coming weeks. It will conclude on Oct. 18 in Sydney.

Tickets for the newly added Asia and Australia dates will be available starting with the American Express presale in select markets.

Rodrigo performed “Vampire” and “Get Him Back!” at MTV’s Video Music Awards on Tuesday night, following Lil Wayne as the second performer of the evening. It was her second-ever appearance at the show as Rodrigo made her VMAs debut in 2021 when she performed her Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 hit “Good 4 U.”

“Guts” was released to high acclaim on Sept. 8 via Geffen Records and was preceded by two top 10 singles, “Vampire” and “Bad Idea Right?” “Vampire” debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, marking Rodrigo the youngest artist to debut three No. 1 hits on the chart behind “Drivers License” and “Good 4 U.”

In an interview with Capital FM in England , Rodrigo said she wrote much of the songs on “Guts” with the concept of an accompanying tour “in mind.”

“I think there’s a lot of fun songs,” she said. “I wrote the album with a tour in mind, so I think they’re all songs I wanted people to be able to scream in a crowd. Hopefully, that’s what’s achieved.” A similar teaser — in the form of a faux ticket advertising “Olivia Rodrigo: Guts The World Tour” — appeared in a lyric video for “Making the Bed,” the sixth track off “Guts.”

Rodrigo last toured North America and Europe in support of her debut album “Sour” in 2022. It started on April 5 in Portland and ended on July 7 in London. Gracie Abrams, Holly Humberstone, Chappell Roan and Baby Queen served as opening acts.

How to get tickets for Olivia Rodrigo’s 2024 Sydney tour: presale, prices and everything you need to know

Good for us! Olivia Rodrigo is bringing her Guts World Tour to Sydney

Ashleigh Hastings

Fire up the group chat, because Sydney’s year of the big name musical girlies just upped its game. We kicked off 2024 with appearances from her highness Taylor Swift , followed by a recent royal visit from SZA . Just last week Billie Eilish revealed a massive Aussie tour, and now we’re feeling all kinds of ‘deja vu’ thanks to a fresh announcement from pop princess Olivia Rodrigo.

Now is the time to dig your converse out of your wardrobe and your youthful angst up from the depths of your heart, because Olivia Rodrigo is officially bringing her Guts World Tour to Sydney in spring 2024. Ticket sales start soon and missing out would be a bad idea, right? Here’s all the information you need.

When is Olivia Rodrigo going on her Sydney, Australia tour 2024?

Olivia Rodrigo will start the Australian leg of her Guts World Tour with two shows in Melbourne, before heading to Sydney for two shows on Thursday, October 17 and Friday, October 18. Both shows will take place at Sydney’s Qudos Bank Arena .

When do Olivia Rodrigo tickets go on sale?

General ticket sales start at 1pm local time on Thursday, May 16 via Ticketek . Punters have already noticed there’s a bit of time between Rodrigo’s Melbourne and Sydney shows, so we’ve got our fingers crossed that more dates could be announced.

Is there a presale for  Olivia Rodrigo’s Sydney shows?

Judging from how wildly popular Ms Rodrigo’s music has become, the fight for tickets is guaranteed to get ‘brutal’. We recommend signing up for presale to avoid ending up in a state of ‘jealousy, jealousy’ towards those who scored tix. Your presale options are the Amex presale from Monday, May 13 at 12pm, the Live Nation presale on Wednesday, May 15 at 1pm, and the My Ticketek presale which starts at the same time as Live Nation.

How much will tickets cost for Olivia Rodrigo’s Australian tour?

Ticket prices haven’t yet been revealed for Rodrigo's Sydney shows, but we’ll update this story as soon as we know. For reference, London tickets can currently be found starting from $123.

Who is the support for Olivia Rodrigo’s Australian shows?

New Zealand singer-songwriter Benee will be warming up the crowd for Olivia Rodrigo’s Qudos Bank Arena shows. She’s best known for her TikTok viral tune ‘Supalonely’.

When else is Olivia Rodrigo playing as part of her 2025 Australian tour?

Rodrigo will perform for two nights at Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena on Wednesday, October 9 and Thursday, October 10. Currently, those are the only Australian dates she’s announced – sorry to the rest of Oz!

The Planet Zero World Tour begins in Bonner Springs, KS on September 3 rd , kicking off a 20-date U.S. run of fall shows that will see the record-breaking, chart-topping band bring their new music, #1 hits, fan favorites, and biggest stage show yet to cities from coast to coast in support of Planet Zero . While lead single “Planet Zero” – Shinedown’s record-breaking 18 th #1 – remains in the top spot at Active Rock Radio for the fourth consecutive week , the band has released album track “The Saints of Violence and Innuendo.” The frenetic yet massively catchy track takes on the platforms and institutions that don’t value honesty and instead use half-truths, false narratives, and innuendo to push agendas that are often not reflective of the people’s best interest. PRESS HERE to listen to “The Saints of Violence and Innuendo” and HERE to check out the lyric video . Pre-order Planet Zero HERE . Each pre-order includes an instant download of “Planet Zero” and “The Saints of Violence and Innuendo.”

“ Tell me the truth  / Or tell me a lie  / Tell me what I’ve gotta say to get out of this room alive

Show me the answers  / Or give me a clue  / There’s not enough space in the miles between me and you

Oh no  / Here we go  / Here come the saints of violence and innuendo

So tell me truth  / Are you really surprised?  / You live in a world where empathy goes to die ” –

Lyrics from “The Saints of Violence and Innuendo”

“Planet Zero” ( PRESS HERE to watch the new music video) and “The Saints of Violence and Innuendo” introduce an album that sees Shinedown taking on the forces that keep us divided at a time when we need to be coming together. These songs warn of the dangerous dehumanizing consequences of cancel culture run rampant – if we shut each other down, we risk losing empathy, respect for one another, and our ability to communicate and unify in a way that leads to actual progress and understanding . Planet Zero is an incisive look at some of society’s most critical issues, including the increasingly toxic division among those of differing ideologies , the need for honesty in our public discourse , and the corrosive effects of social media and cancel culture on mental health and humanity . Part  social commentary  and part in-depth  exploration of the human psyche, there is also hope, triumph, and reminders that we all need one another. After all, it is the band’s impassioned striving for unity  that has long been at the heart of their creative output.

The high-concept, ultra-vivid, viscerally charged album was produced by Shinedown’s Eric Bass (who also produced the band’s 2018 acclaimed album ATTENTION ATTENTION ,)   and recorded at  Bass’ newly built Big Animal Studio in South Carolina.

Shinedown also recently made their ATTENTION ATTENTION feature film available worldwide. A stunning visual counterpart to their 2018 acclaimed album of the same name, the film brings to life the album’s narrative about a mental health journey and the resolve of the human spirit, weaving together 14 songs into a provocative and thought-provoking cinematic story that illuminates yet another dimension of Shinedown’s limitless creativity.  PRESS HERE to watch the trailer. The film, directed by Bill Yukich   (Beyoncé, Metallica, Wiz Khalifa) is now available to rent and purchase worldwide on Vimeo and is available on iTunes in select territories. It is also available on   digital and cable VOD   in the U.S. and Canada , and on Blu-ray and DVD – PRESS HERE to purchase and watch.

The “Vampire” singer is currently in the midst of her trek’s European leg, which began April 30 in Dublin. It follows her initial run of shows in North America, which featured stops in Palm Springs, Calif., New York City, Toronto and more cities.

“europe leg of the GUTS world tour has been wonderful so far!!!!” she wrote on Instagram following the new announcement, sharing photos from her past performances. “so much luv for everyone who has been coming 2 jump and sing and scream!!! Asia and Australia dates just announced!!! hope to see ya there!!!”

The news comes just a few days after Rodrigo was forced to postponed her show in Manchester planned for Friday (May 3) due to technical difficulties at the Co-Op Live arena. “I’m sooooo disappointed that we’re unable to perform in Manchester due to on-going venue-related technical issues,” she wrote on her Story at the time. “I’m so bummed and I really hope to see you all soon.”

Taylor Swift adds new ‘The Tortured Poets Department’ set for European leg of Eras Tour

‘He sat there with his middle finger up at me’

Following a two-month break, Taylor Swift’s record-breaking Eras Tour resumed in Paris, France, on Thursday.

And along with adding several songs from her latest album, The Tortured Poets Department (TTPD) , to the already-sprawling setlist, the US superstar treated lucky ticket holders to some fresh fashion, too.

Swift performed new tunes But Daddy I Love Him, So High School, Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me?, Down Bad and Fortnight wearing a white taffeta dress with a corsetted bodice, dramatic hip draping and her own lyrics (“I love you, it’s ruining my life”) scrawled down the high-low skirt — a custom design by Vivienne Westwood.

She accessorised with one of the house’s signature three-row Orb chokers and, before launching into The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived , topped off her gown with a matching white trench coat featuring military-style epaulets and frogging.

Swift then switched things up with an onstage costume change, stripping down to a second Vivienne Westwood ensemble: a black crystal-embellished bra top and briefs, which she layered beneath a metallic gold tailcoat with black crystal-embellished lapels to close out the TTPD section with I Can Do It With a Broken Heart.

Swift added a set for her new album for the European leg of her Eras Tour.

The new costumes are perfectly in line with the literature-inspired looks Swift’s been exploring while promoting TTPD — think corsets, pleated skirts and plenty of black and white.

Swift collaborated with a number of major fashion houses on her stage styles for the Eras Tour, all of which are inspired by her past album aesthetics.

Swift was forced to cut some songs from the setlist to introduce songs her new album.

Standouts include the bedazzled Atelier Versace bodysuits Swift wears during the Lover section of her performance, the sparkling Roberto Cavalli crop-top-and-miniskirt combos she sports for the 1989 segment and the flowing, fluttering Alberta Ferretti gowns that add ethereal drama to the Folklore portion of the show.

And given that the aforementioned brands provided several different colour variations of each look for Swift to rotate between as her tour rolls on, additional TTPD costumes are practically guaranteed to pop up at the shows ahead.

Is Olivia Rodrigo coming to Australia?

Olivia's initial announcement for her GUTS world tour unfortunately did not include Aussie tour dates.

Olivia was set to make a trip down under just a fortnight after her album was released. According to Universal Music Group, the singer was set to touch down in Australia on September 22 to promote her new album.

Although she didn't have any performances planned, she had a number of  interviews lined up and an exclusive fan Q&A on September 22. However just a few days shy of her trip, the singer has announced she is no longer visiting.

According to the Daily Telegraph, the trip was cancelled at the last minute due to "unforeseen circumstances."

“Olivia is devastated that she won’t be able to make it, however she’s so excited to see her Australian Livies in 2024,” a Universal Music Australia representative told the publication.

But despite an initial cancellation, it's now been confirmed Olivia is bringing the GUTS World Tour to Oz in October 2024, with special guest BENEE.

Airline Agrees to Pay $79 Million After Selling Tickets for Canceled Flights

Qantas, Australia’s national carrier, apologized and said it would pay a fine and compensation to settle a suit brought by a consumer watchdog.

Three parked jets can be seen through windows in an airport.

By Jin Yu Young

Qantas, Australia’s national airline, said on Monday that it had reached a deal with the country’s consumer watchdog to pay the equivalent of $79 million for selling thousands of tickets to flights that it had already canceled.

The airline said in a statement that the payments, totaling 120 million Australian dollars, would resolve a lawsuit that the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission filed against Qantas over the issue last year. The commission accused the airline of advertising and selling tickets for more than 8,000 canceled flights from May 2021 through July 2022.

The commission said Qantas had known that the flights would never take off, and that tickets remained available for an average of over two weeks after the flights were canceled — in some cases, for as long as 47 days.

Qantas said it expected to pay 20 million Australian dollars in compensation to more than 86,000 of its customers, as well as a fine of 100 million dollars, subject to court approval.

“We know many of our customers were affected by our failure to provide cancellation notifications in a timely manner, and we are sincerely sorry,” said the carrier’s chief executive, Vanessa Hudson.

“We have since updated our processes and are investing in new technology across the Qantas Group to ensure this doesn’t happen again,” she said.

Gina Cass-Gottlieb, the consumer watchdog’s chairwoman, said the agency was “pleased to have secured these admissions by Qantas that it misled its customers, and its agreement that a very significant penalty is required as a result of this conduct.”

The airline has had a rocky few years. While it bills itself as “the spirit of Australia,” its customers there have complained about unreliable flights and high ticket prices. The airline has also taken flack for giving large paychecks to its board and its previous chief executive, after what a court called its illegal layoffs of 1,700 baggage handlers.

In the airline’s statement Monday, Ms. Hudson said the resolution of the suit over the canceled flights “represents another important step forward as we work towards restoring confidence in the national carrier.”

An earlier version of this article misspelled the name of Qantas’s chief executive. It is Vanessa Hudson, not Husdon.

Wells Fargo Championship 2024: How to Watch and Stream All the PGA Tour Golf From Anywhere

The Tour heads to Charlotte's Quail Hollow Club with a share of a $20 million purse up for grabs.

will shinedown tour australia

With the seemingly unstoppable Scottie Scheffler out of the picture, it's an open field at the Quail Hollow Club this weekend for the Wells Fargo Championship.

Scheffler has been in ominous form, having claimed wins at the The Masters and The Players Championship, but the World No. 1 has opted out of this weekend's action as he awaits the birth of his first child.

Leading the charge in his absence will be new favorite Rory McIlroy, who is returning to action after sitting out last week's Byron Nelson.

Also in the hunt will be defending Wells Fargo champ Wyndham Clark. Denver-born Clark registered a four-stroke victory over second placed Xander Schauffele at the 2023 edition of this tournament, and comes into this weekend's event having clocked up three top-three finishes from his last five tournaments.

Keep reading to find out the best live TV streaming services to use to watch each day of the tournament live wherever you are in the world.

How to watch the the Wells Fargo Championship 2024 online from anywhere using a VPN

If you find yourself unable to view the tournament locally, you may need a different way to watch -- that's where using a VPN can come in handy. A VPN is also the best way to stop your ISP from throttling your speeds by encrypting your traffic, and it's also a great idea if you're traveling and find yourself connected to a Wi-Fi network, and you want to add an extra layer of privacy for your devices and logins.

With a VPN, you're able to virtually change your location on your phone, tablet or laptop to get access to the tournament. So if your internet provider or mobile carrier has stuck you with an IP address that incorrectly shows your location in a blackout zone, a VPN can correct that problem by giving you an IP address in your correct, nonblackout area. Most VPNs, like our Editors' Choice, ExpressVPN , make it really easy to do this.

Using a VPN to watch or stream sports is legal in any country where VPNs are legal, including the US, UK and Canada, as long as you have a legitimate subscription to the service you're streaming. You should be sure your VPN is set up correctly to prevent leaks: Even where VPNs are legal, the streaming service may terminate the account of anyone it deems to be circumventing correctly applied blackout restrictions.

Quick tips for streaming the Wells Fargo Championship 2024 using a VPN

  • With four variables at play -- your ISP, browser, video streaming provider and VPN -- your experience and success when streaming may vary.
  • If you don't see your desired location as a default option for ExpressVPN, try using the "search for city or country" option.
  • If you're having trouble getting the tournament after you've turned on your VPN and set it to the correct viewing area, there are two things you can try for a quick fix. First, log into your streaming service subscription account and make sure the address registered for the account is an address in the correct viewing area. If not, you may need to change the physical address on file with your account. Second, some smart TVs -- like Roku -- don't have VPN apps you can install directly on the device itself. Instead, you'll have to install the VPN on your router or the mobile hotspot you're using (like your phone) so that any device on its Wi-Fi network now appears in the correct viewing location.
  • All of the VPN providers we recommend have helpful instructions on their main site for quickly installing the VPN on your router. In some cases with smart TV services, after you install a cable network's sports app, you'll be asked to verify a numeric code or click a link sent to your email address on file for your smart TV. This is where having a VPN on your router will also help, since both devices will appear to be in the correct location.
  • And remember, browsers can often give away a location despite using a VPN, so be sure you're using a privacy-first browser to log into your services. We normally recommend  Brave .

James Taylor talks koalas, the 'gravitational attraction' of touring and Taylor Swift

will shinedown tour australia

It’s nearly midnight in Australia when James Taylor pops onto the screen , casual in a T-shirt and omnipresent baseball cap.

He’s in the midst of a tour of the country – which he’s visiting for the first time in seven years – and indulges immediate questions not about his legendary career, mellifluous songs, or his upcoming U.S. tour. It's about koalas.

A photo on his Instagram page showcased the soft-spoken Taylor cuddling a native marsupial and he was, indeed, smitten.

“They give off a very calm vibe,” Taylor says. “They’re lovely little critters, and they eat one food. One plant. That’s it. It’s very dialed down.”

Given the soothing tone of so many of Taylor’s staples – “Fire and Rain,” “Your Smiling Face,” “How Sweet It Is” and his signature rendition of Carole King’s “You’ve Got a Friend” – it’s not surprising he found a kindred spirit in a placid (this one, domesticated) koala.

Need a break? Play the USA TODAY Daily Crossword Puzzle.

Taylor and his All-Star Band will leave Oz for a summer run in America, starting May 29 at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles and traveling through cities including Philadelphia, Salt Lake City, Denver and Lenox, Massachusetts, for 50 th anniversary performances July 3-4 at Tanglewood.

The gregarious Taylor , 76, happily eschewed sleep to talk about the “gravitational attraction” of touring, what music he turns to for comfort and the “little scraps of music” that will likely morph into songs for his next album.

Question: When “American Standard” came out in 2020, you became the first act to have a Top 10 album in each of the last six decades and it won your sixth Grammy. Does it stun you when things like that happen at this stage of your career? Answer : Yeah, to me it feels like just continuing and carrying on. I feel as if I’m always in the process of learning how to do this, how to make records, how to tour and how to best do this kind of work and live this kind of life. The unusual thing is it’s been so consistent. Partially when something works, you don’t tend to change it. My evolution has been slow and steady.

On that album, you tackled songs from the American standards canon. Is there another period of music that you would like to do? I keep recorded notes, little scraps of music and ideas and when I get into a pre-writing phase, I’ll start pushing those around. And I’m due for one of those sessions. I’d like to think there is another batch of songs in there. And of course, it used to be that musicians like me, composers like me, would write in batches of 10 or 12 songs and that would make up an album. But now it’s altogether possible to work up five or six songs and let that be it. It’s funny – it used to be that a record deal was necessary to have a career and you used to do all you could to get in the door. Now it’s easy to get in the door, but once you walk through, there are a million people in the room.

More: Sheryl Crow reveals her tour must-haves and essential albums, including this 'game changer'

I think most people would say they find comfort in your music. What or who do you listen to for comfort? My comfort music is still Brazilian music. I love choral music and since I met (wife) Kim, I’ve had a renewed exposure to classical music and that was an eye-opener for me too. I still have my old favorites that I still love to pieces, Ray Charles is still my favorite, Marvin Gaye, Sam Cooke, Aretha Franklin , Ry Cooder and Bonnie Raitt. I love salsa and Eddie Palmieri and the Cuban musician Arsenio Rodríguez. I’m still very connected with the musicians who influence me. I happened across a great record the other day by The Coasters – “Shopping for Clothes.” It’s fantastic.

With this tour coming up, do you have to psych yourself up to go on the road or is it just part of your DNA? I think both. It’s familiar. I feel the gravitational attraction of a tour and feel it grab hold. As I approach it, there is some anxiety and you need to prepare yourself physically and emotionally for it. I work on my voice for about a month ahead of time. I’ll pick up my guitar and start playing every day and try to get my chops and technique back and then we start looking at the set and how we might want to change it from the last time we played that city.

Have you ever had a conversation with Taylor Swift about her being named after you?

Yeah, I met her perhaps it was 15-16 years ago. We did a benefit for (the Candie’s Foundation), an organization that tries to help with teenage pregnancy, and it was interesting. We were both just there with guitars and played a couple of songs. I was performing with my wife and may have had a friend of ours playing cello and Taylor was there just playing by herself. She was just a teen. She told me she had listened to my music a lot and that her folks had named her with me in mind.

More: Taylor Swift's 'Tortured Poets' is hauntingly brilliant, even the 15 surprise songs

I know you had a documentary with Carole King a couple of years ago (“Just Call Out My Name”). But will we ever see a definitive James Taylor documentary? I did an autobiographical piece for Audible (“Break Shot: My First 21 Years”) a few years ago and it covers my experience up until getting signed with Apple and then moving on to Warner Bros. It’s just an audiobook, really. I sort of feel as if everything after that has been so public that there is nothing left to share.
