The 11 Best Hotels in Singapore

Plan your stay at these spectacular editor-approved and T+L award-winning hotels.

travel leisure india's best awards

Courtesy of Fullerton Hotel Singapore

Singapore is one destination that has mastered luxury everywhere from the cutting-edge airport — which Travel + Leisure readers have ranked best in the world for more than a decade in our World’s Best Awards — to its hotel landscape. Nearly every big-name brand has moved into The Lion City, and just when you think Singapore has hit its peak in terms of sophisticated stays, another game-changing hotel is on the horizon.

During my first visit in 2019, I had the chance to stay in a few of the island nation’s most sumptuous spots and sip an authentic Singapore Sling at the Long Bar at Raffles (which was still under renovation at the time), and I’ve been continually impressed on my trips since. Last year was a banner one in terms of newcomers in the city-state, with the addition of The Singapore EDITION and Como Metropolitan Singapore, but there are plenty of other fabulous tried-and-true favorites that consistently rank high on Travel + Leisure’s World’s Best Awards and It List . Here, we’ve narrowed down the ever-growing list to 11 of the best hotels Singapore has to offer.

Why I’m the Expert

Lane Nieset is a Paris-based travel writer who has extensively covered Singapore’s award-winning hotels, cocktail bars, and restaurants. She’s explored multiple neighborhoods, properties, and attractions, so she’s confident these hotels are the best in the island nation.

Capella Singapore

Courtesy of Capella Singapore

Also available to book at Tripadvisor.com

The hotel has a private island feel but is a just short drive away from the city center.

If you want to step out of your hotel room and start sightseeing, this tucked-away spot isn’t for you.

Name-dropped in the “Crazy Rich Asians” book series (and featured in the film with a cameo at the spa), Capella Singapore is truly one of the most iconic hotels in the country. During my stay in 2019, my jaw dropped when I pulled up to the 30-acre property, whose beautifully manicured tropical greenery extends around two centerpiece 1880s-era restored Tanah Merah colonial bungalows. The World’s Best Awards-winning property for the past four years consistently receives rave reviews from readers, and it’s no surprise why.

Featuring balconies suspended over the Singapore seascape, 38 villas with private plunge pools, and nearly 900 pieces of art woven into the hotel’s design, you’re guaranteed fantastic views no matter where you are on property. In addition to three pools (including an infinity-edge) and direct access to crystal-clear Palawan Beach, you’ll definitely want to recharge at the Auriga Spa, where treatments revolve around cycles of the moon.

The Details:

  • Neighborhood: Sentosa Island
  • Accessibility: Wheelchair-accessible with rooms equipped for travelers with limited mobility
  • Nearby Attractions: Singapore Cable Car, Sensoryscape, Resorts World Sentosa, The Palawan @Sentosa, SkyPark Sentosa, iFly Singapore
  • Loyalty Programs: Capella DISCOVERY; American Express Fine Hotels + Resorts
  • Rates: Start at $724

Andaz Singapore

Courtesy of Hyatt

The luxury hotel is modern but fits perfectly in place with the surrounding traditional, shophouse-filled alleyways.

Suites start at nearly twice the size of the rooms — so go for an upgrade if you want something more spacious.

Andaz Singapore — the Hyatt brand’s first to open in Southeast Asia — uses its height to its advantage. Spanning the top floors of the 39-story, silver honeycomb-patterned DUO tower, the 347-room hotel offers guests a few ways to soak up 360-degree views of Singapore's striking skyline — one of the favorites being from rooftop cocktail bar Mr. Stork, which is dotted with teepees inspired by local bird nests.

Landing a place on our 2023 and 2024 World’s Best Awards lists, it has a prime location in the historic Kampong Glam neighborhood and features a fabulous infinity pool which stays open until 10 p.m. The gym is 24-hours — always a plus for jet-lagged travelers — and the Sunroom offers all-day complimentary refreshments, making it a popular place to post up between sightseeing excursions.

  • Neighborhood: Kampong Glam
  • Accessibility: Wheelchair-accessible rooms
  • Nearby Attractions: National Gallery of Singapore, Fort Canning Park, Objectifs, National Design Centre, Bugis Street, Pulau Ubin (via Changi Point Ferry Terminal)
  • Loyalty Programs: World of Hyatt; American Express Fine Hotels + Resorts
  • Rates: Start at $263

Fairmont Singapore

Courtesy of Accor Hotels

The central location places travelers within walking distance of major landmarks and attractions.

For extra perks like lounge access with daily breakfast and evening cocktails, you’ll have to book one of the Fairmont Gold rooms or suites.

The sister spot to neighboring Swisshôtel The Stamford , the 778-room Fairmont Singapore (a World’s Best Awards 2021 winner) is an urban version of a palatial resort. The duo share two freeform outdoor pools, and you can dine al fresco at poolside restaurant The Eight. Another less-expected amenity for a hotel in a city center: a 24-hour, 50,000-square-foot fitness facility with six outdoor tennis courts.

The South Tower’s rooms were the most recently renovated of the bunch, and while all show off spectacular views, some of our favorite shots of the skyline are from the Deluxe Harbour View Rooms. Among the nine dining and bar options, highlights include the elegant, two-Michelin-starred JAAN by Kirk Westaway , a contemporary British tasting menu restaurant, and whimsical craft cocktail bar and high tea hotspot ANTI:DOTE.

  • Neighborhood: Central Business District
  • Accessibility: Wheelchair-accessible rooms available
  • Nearby Attractions: Singapore Art Museum, Marina Bay Sands, Gardens by the Bay, the Singapore Flyer, SkyPark Observation Deck
  • Loyalty Programs: ALL - Accor Live Limitless; American Express Fine Hotels + Resorts
  • Rates: Start at $379

Mandarin Oriental, Singapore

Courtesy of Mandarin Oriental

Club lounge HAUS 65 goes above and beyond typical offerings with complimentary chauffeur service, wellness classes, and personalized butler service.

Entry-level rooms are on the smaller side and not all include lounge access.

Perched over Marina Bay, Mandarin Oriental Singapore claims one of Singapore’s most coveted pieces of real estate. Of course, the best views in the house are from the upper floor Royal Marina Bay Penthouse — which spans an impressive 4,230 square feet and features a dining table seating 10 — or the three-bedroom Presidential Suite, whose terrace is suspended over the bay.

All of the three-time World’s Best Awards (2021, 2022, and 2024) winner’s 527 rooms show off floor-to-ceiling views — as does MO BAR and al fresco lounge BAY@5. The Spa at Mandarin Oriental, Singapore is another winning feature, with treatments that incorporate Asian healing elements and Traditional Chinese Medicine.

  • Neighborhood: Marina Bay
  • Accessibility: Wheelchair-accessible
  • Nearby Attractions: Singapore Flyer, SkyPark Observation Deck, Gardens by the Bay, ArtScience Museum, Marina Bay Sands
  • Loyalty Programs: Fans of M.O.; American Express Fine Hotels + Resorts
  • Rates: Start at $485

Raffles Singapore

Courtesy of Raffles Singapore

The historic beauty features a fresh design and modern tech touches.

It’s one of the pricier hotels in town.

When a destination’s first hotel undergoes a multi-year renovation, you can’t help but wonder how much will be left intact and what won’t make the cut. Raffles Singapore still has the iconic Long Bar, where the original Singapore Sling debuted, but now you’ll also find Jereme Leung’s contemporary Chinese spot Yi, and wood-fire dining experience Butcher’s Block.

Ranking in our World’s Best Awards for the past four years, Raffles Singapore also rightfully earned a place on our It List 2020 after it reopened. As T+L contributor Ellie Storck wrote , “The 133-year-old property has emerged looking lighter and brighter, with its timeless design details scrubbed and polished to a like-new sheen.”

  • Nearby Attractions: National Library, Capitol Theatre, Civilian War Memorial, SAM at 8Q, National Museum of Singapore, Peranakan Museum, St Andrew’s Cathedral, Marina Bay Sands
  • Rates: Start at $1,360

Shangri-La Singapore

Courtesy of Shangri-La Singapore

The hotel has a resort feel with open gardens and tons of amenities for everyone in the family.

The location is far from downtown attractions.

Sprawling across three wings on 15 acres of tropical gardens, Shangri-La Singapore is the country’s own version of Eden. Despite featuring 792 sumptuous rooms, the World’s Best Awards-winning hotel (in 2021 and 2023) never feels crowded. One of the most family-friendly properties in Singapore, the kids will have plenty of entertainment, from the family suites themed around castles and safaris to the expertly stocked pantry and family concierge, who can arrange everything you need both at the hotel and around Singapore.

From the 24th-floor Horizon Club, you’ll have panoramic city views, a buffet breakfast, light refreshments, and evening cocktails and canapés — plus priority check-in. The dining options, which include Italian, Chinese, and Japanese cuisine, are nothing short of spectacular — especially Shang Palace’s upscale take on traditional Cantonese dishes.

  • Neighborhood: Orchard
  • Accessibility: Wheelchair-accessible rooms and facilities
  • Nearby Attractions: Singapore Botanic Gardens, Dempsey Hill, Newton Food Centre, the Singapore Zoological Gardens, Sentosa Island, Orchard Road
  • Loyalty Programs: Shangri-La Circle; American Express Fine Hotels + Resorts
  • Rates: Start at $232

The Fullerton Hotel Singapore

You’ll be right in the heart of the city’s must-see attractions.

The suites are the star of the show here, so you’ll want to secure an upgrade.

In a destination that prides itself on modernization, it’s refreshing to see some of the country’s history proudly standing strong. Housed in a century-old Neoclassical landmark building — once home to Singapore’s General Post Office and Chamber of Commerce — The Fullerton Hotel Singapore (a World’s Best Awards winner in 2021 and 2022) sports 400 elegantly-decorated rooms and suites, some of which feature full verandas overlooking The Fullerton Waterboat House and Anderson Bridge.

Amenities are luxe (Balmain toiletries, Dyson hair dryers, pillow menus, a selection of Marrakech’s legendary Bacha Coffee) and the spa features ESPA treatments. The prime locale in the heart of the city’s historic district makes it easy to stroll to landmarks, restaurants, and bars — but it’ll be hard to peel yourself away from the riverfront views at the hotel’s street hawker-inspired Town Restaurant.

  • Nearby Attractions: Singapore Art Museum, National Museum of Singapore, Merlion Park, Fort Canning Park, Clarke Quay, Marina Bay Sands
  • Loyalty Programs: I Prefer Hotel Rewards; American Express Fine Hotels + Resorts
  • Rates: Start at $345

The Ritz-Carlton, Millenia Singapore

Courtesy of Marriott

The rooms are some of the city’s largest and show off panoramic views of Marina Bay.

The hotel doesn’t participate in the Marriott Bonvoy rewards program.

Maintaining a spot on our World’s Best Awards list for the past three years, The Ritz-Carlton, Millenia Singapore houses one of the largest contemporary art collections in Southeast Asia, so you’ll be sleeping in a living museum with pieces by the likes of David Hockney and Andy Warhol. The beauty of The Ritz-Carlton is that while the hotels live up to five-star standards, they’re by no means fussy. Fans of the brand can take comfort in familiar amenities like the Club Lounge, which offers five daily culinary presentations, bottomless Champagne, and butler service.

You’ll want to spend time soaking in a butler-drawn bath admiring the city’s skyline from the octagonal bathroom windows or indulging in a La Mer facial at The Ritz-Carlton Spa — the first hotel partner in Singapore for the luxe beauty brand. Dine on Michelin-starred Cantonese cuisine at Summer Pavilion or sip a 1960s-era cocktail at Republic, previously ranked one of Asia’s 50 Best Bars.

  • Loyalty Programs: American Express Fine Hotels + Resorts
  • Rates: Start at $451

Como Metropolitan Singapore

Courtesy of Como Metropolitan Singapore

The glass-bottom rooftop infinity pool offers showstopping city views.

While the two-bedroom suite accommodates families, the hotel doesn’t particularly cater to kids.

The newly opened hotel — which quickly earned a place on our It List 2024 — is the first of the locally-based Como group to debut in Singapore. Extending across 19 floors, Como Metropolitan Singapore is located on Orchard Road and features 156 rooms and suites that are outfitted with tech-forward touches, and show off city views through wall-to-wall windows.

Wellness is one of the brand’s pillars, and spa Como Shambhala doesn’t disappoint (save time for hot and cold immersion therapies). Michelin-starred Korean steakhouse COTE opened its first international outpost here, and superstar French pastry chef Cédric Grolet debuted his first patisserie in Asia, making the property just as popular among locals as visitors.

  • Accessibility: Wheelchair-accessible outdoor and communal areas, as well as rooms
  • Loyalty Programs: Comoclub; American Express Fine Hotels + Resorts
  • Rates: Start at $248

“Last September, the Singapore-based Como group unveiled Como Metropolitan Singapore, the brand’s first hotel in its home country. Located on Orchard Road — the city-state’s famed shopping and lifestyle hub — the hotel is part of Como Orchard, an immersive experience spread over 19 floors, which showcases the group’s strengths in hospitality, wellness, fashion, and cuisine.”

–Shamilee Vellu, T+L Contributor

The Singapore EDITION

The brand-new hotel has received a wall-to-wall makeover.

Located in the well-heeled Orchard neighborhood, the hotel is removed from tourist attractions and less suited for travelers who want to sightsee.

After a soft opening in late 2023, The Singapore EDITION — the brand’s first outpost in Southeast Asia — earned a prime spot on our 2024 It List. The hotel’s 204 guestrooms and suites follow the EDITION’s minimalist aesthetic (oak-planked floors, warm white rugs), and guests can expect some of the brand’s other signatures, like cocktail bar Punch Room, which hosts afternoon tea every Friday and Saturday, plus a luxe spa with plunge pools, an indoor vitality pool, and a 24-hour, state-of-the-art gym.

  • Nearby Attractions: Gardens by the Bay, Mandai Wildlife Reserve, Peranakan Museum, Asian Civilisations Museum, Singapore Botanic Gardens, ArtScience Museum, National Gallery Singapore
  • Loyalty Programs: Marriott Bonvoy; American Express Fine Hotels + Resorts
  • Rates: Start at $406

“Uniquely Singaporean touches include lush indoor gardens that nod to the city's tropical greenery, and louvered window panels inspired by the homes that once dominated this neighborhood, called the Orchard Road district. Similarly fresh is The Edition Singapore’s signature restaurant, the aptly named Fysh, where Australian chef and self-proclaimed “fish butcher” Josh Niland serves up wildly innovative fin-to-tail creations such as noodles from fish bone, tuna merguez sausage, and sweet ice cream — really! — from fish eyeballs.”

–Chris Schalkx, T+L Contributor

Duxton Reserve Singapore, Autograph Collection

Perks include an intimate tea ceremony welcome and luxury bedding and amenities.

The hotel lacks facilities like a fitness center, pool, and spa.

A quick stroll from some of Singapore’s top hawker stalls at Maxwell Food Centre, Duxton Reserve Singapore, Autograph Collection landed a coveted spot on our 2019 It List, originally opening as a Six Senses.

I visited the 49-room hotel not long after the boutique property debut, and in a city that has its fair share of ultra-modern high-rises and colonial charmers, Duxton Reserve is a welcome respite. London hotelier and 1960s Bond girl Anouska Hempel is behind the sultry design that mixes touches of bold cherry-red and gold with elements like Chinese screens and calligraphy-adorned wallpaper from her own collection — so no two rooms are identical.

  • Neighborhood: Chinatown
  • Nearby Attractions: Tanjong Pagar, Maxwell Food Centre, Chinatown Heritage Centre, The Pinnacle@Duxton Skybridge
  • Loyalty Programs: Marriott Bonvoy
  • Rates: Start at $191

Know Before You Go

Prepare for hot, tropical weather year-round.

Singapore is hot and humid, so pack accordingly — think light, airy clothing and a sweater or light jacket since the AC is usually blasting indoors. Seasons are divided into “wet” (September through February) and “dry” (March to August), but even in the dry season, expect some rainfall — so don’t forget to grab a hotel umbrella when you head out for the day.

English is one of Singapore’s primary languages

While other Asian countries are known for “lost in translation” moments and may even require a guide or translator to navigate, English is widely used and spoken in Singapore, making it easier for tourists to get around. You may also notice locals speaking the unofficial fifth language, Singlish, a blend of English and Malay, Chinese, and Tamil dialects.

Expect to experience “chope-ing”

One of the easiest Singlish words to remember, “chope” is as much an action as it is part of the culture. The first time I visited one of the hawker halls, I noticed the packets of tissues and other objects like umbrellas scattered around tables reserving seats while diners queued up at the stands. Don’t be shy when it comes to claiming a place — it’s a ritual here.

How We Chose These Hotels

With a hotel scene that’s one of the most vibrant in Asia — and in the world — narrowing down where to stay in Singapore isn’t easy. These hotels made the list because they’ve earned a coveted place on our editor-selected It List or have been chosen by hundreds of thousands of T+L readers across the globe who vote on their favorite hotels in our annual World’s Best Awards .

Paris-based travel writer Lane Nieset travels multiple times a year to Asia and has extensively explored Singapore’s hotel, restaurant, and cocktail scene. The hotels on the list were chosen based on her personal experience and research, as well as the first-hand reviews of T+L editors and contributors. All of our hotel recommendations also align with our key T+L Hotel Values .
