I took my "broken" bike to this Trek location to see if they could help. It kept jumping out of gear when going up hill. I will note that this bike was a cheap off the shelf bike from a local sporting goods store and not from Trek. Austin, the service manager, took a look at it and figured out what it needed. He ordered the parts and installed them and I came and picked it up. I rode it for about a week with no issue. Then the part he replaced completely broke in half. I took the bike back in and he upgraded the replaced part, new chain, and upgraded shifter cable for zero charge. Bike is better than new now and haven't had any issues for a few weeks. Go see Austin at Trek Arnold. Great guy and very knowledgeable!!

We were looking for e bikes and was in the area so we stopped in. They were attentive and didn't rush us, even they knew we weren't into buying.

Went in today with 2 mountain bikes that needed some service. Loved the Coronavirus conscious policies and measures. Employees were super friendly, knowledgeable, and very reasonable. Managed to get both bikes back to operating form in short time. Highly recommend them.

I am not a review writer, and may have written only a few in my life. Here is why I decided to write today. This certainly was not a life ending ordeal, but my bike, in which I ride everyday was having some issues. I tried to self correct and it really was doing no good. I called Trek in Arnold and asked if I could bring it right in. They invited me to bring it in right away and were very courteous during our conversation. When I arrived, I told them what was happening and they immediately put the bike on the rack and started troubleshooting. I asked them how long it will take, and the gentleman told me the policy was to return all bikes within 72 hours. I was secretly bummed, but hey, I didn't give them any notice, I didn't schedule an appointment with them, and realized I was being unrealistic with expecting it back in such a short amount of time. I agreed to the time frame, but started watching them go through diagnosing the problem. Now two of them were working on it. Next thing I know they are taking it for a ride. When they came back in with the bike, they asked if I could hang around for a few more minutes while they adjusted a hydroculator (not a real word, I made that one up, because I had no idea what he said). I said I could go to lunch and come back. I did so, and my bike was done. The awesome part was, when I tried to self correct the issue prior to bringing the bike in, it only made the problem worse, however, this gentleman did not make me feel like an idiot for it. So, not only was the bike done, but the cost to remedy the issues was very reasonable, I will bring my bike to these guys instead of where I bought the bike (where it is free for life) and will pay for the tune ups etc... This is a great example of how you treat customers. If you treat them right, they will come back. Roger

I needed an exercise bike repaired. They don't normally work on them but Justin helped me out. He fixed my ball bearing problem. It actually works better now than I remember it working since I owned it. Thanks for the great service above and beyond expectations.

Moved to the area recently and took my bike here for service. The employees were friendly and the service department was very professional. Had a bum derailleur, which they made every effort to fix before recommending that I replace it. Good turn around time and good communication. Bike runs great after a tune-up there. It's a nice store and they have a nice selection of accessories. Gave it four stars instead of five because I have limited experience there, but no complaints so far.

Trek bicycle store arrives on michigan avenue, family friendly bike store has seen huge demand for thousand dollar specialty bikes., michael de los reyes , patch staff.

Although the Trek Bicycle Store in Arnold, at 2194 Michigan Ave., has only been open for about two weeks, Manager T.J. Thayer said his team has already sold bikes valued at $1,700 and $3,000. The former is a racing bike, the latter triathlon

“We were really expecting to sell more family-friendly bikes,” Thayer said.

Thayer said his former manager, Jay Thomas who runs the Trek Store in Ballwin, gave him five minutes to accept opening the Arnold location. “I took it right away.”

Thayer was an assistant manger for three years with the Ballwin store.  Thomas also owns stores in Independence, Kansas City and a few in Omaha, NE.

Trek decided that Arnold’s population growth and location—near the border for St. Louis and Jefferson counties—were perfect for the newest bicycle store, Thayer said.

“The St. Louis area is pretty saturated with about 30 store and we didn’t want to steal staff from competitors,” he said.

Contractors built-out the 6,000 square foot location in about 40 days, Thayer said, and his Wisconsin-headquartered company sent two specialists to focus on layout and presentation.

“They sent us two ninjas who even checked the letters’ placement on the displays,” Thayer said.

Thayer focused on hiring knowledgeable specialists and focusing on inventory. “We carry about 90 percent of Trek’s line.”

Thayer said it takes about 10 days, weekends included, to receive an out-of-stock item.

He also offers a 30-day price guarantee and will match any other retailer selling the same Trek model.

“I really want a clean conscience,” Thayer said, “it doesn’t make sense to drive many miles to save a few dollars.”

To further help buyers, Thayer’s store will offer a Groupon discount in three weeks. 

“And people who follow the Arnold business on Facebook and Twitter can receive special one-day deals,” he said.

The store is also working to find trails for Arnold and Jefferson County riders, Thayer said.

He and his eight staffers would like to ride 63-mile course that loops between Arnold and Hillsboro. It has a winery, rolling hills and beautiful trees, he said.

The staff is happy to spend hours helping shoppers find the perfect bike, Thayer said.

Thayer helped a family obtain the best bike for their 2-year-old son.  A 6-foot, 8-inch tall, 380-pound man has happily left with his ideal bike from the Ballwin store, Thayer said.

Jack Mistretta, a sales associate, can help people find trick and stunt bikes. “Unfortunately, most people see the bikes and think ‘Oh that’s a kids’ bike,’ “ Mistretta said.

He admits the stunt bikes need a separate display. Right now the stunt bikes are located next to the children’s bikes.

John Pessin, the store’s inventory manager, has a passion for advanced biking technology and challenging courses. “When I’m not at work, I’m researching ways to lighten a bike’s weight.”

Less effort is needed to propel a lightweight bike.

Pessin also has an interest in Downhill Riding, where people ride durable 70-pound bicycles down the face of a mountain.

“We don’t do this job for the money, we do it because we want to help people enjoy bicycling,” Thayer said.
