We were in the 17th row next to the soundboard when Graveyard kicked things off. Hailing from Gothenburg, Sweden, where heavy metal still sings the blues, they were the only band on the bill that I had not seen before. Joakim Nilsson took the stage at 7:00pm to warm things up with a solo performance before his band joined him for “The Siren” from 2011’s excellent Hisingen Blues. Obviously Graveyard flew here from Sweden, but they might as well have come on a time machine from the 70’s. Every member of the band sports a mustache and straight hair that rides well past the shoulder line. They are heavy as hell, but they don’t shy away from the ballads that are truly more blues than they are metal. Rockers like “Ain’t Fit to Live Here” and “Endless Night” were always followed by slow smokers like “Hard Times Lovin’” and “Slow Motion Countdown”. I’m not sure the early evening crowd really picked up on what they were throwing down, but for my money they were worth the price of admission alone. I was really looking forward to seeing this band and they blew away my expectations. Their shout-out to the locals in Speedwolf just made me like them even more. The set was a stripped down, no-frills, down-and-dirty rock show that had an emotional weight that only the deaf could deny. I’m anxiously waiting for them to come back to Colorado to headline a smaller venue. Maybe their smoke machine will do more damage t -

This is not a reflection of Graveyard. This is a result of Songkick giving me bad info and me still being quite salty.

So, Songkick asked me to review "the show" ... Well, Graveyard played w Black Mountain the night before and then the night after. But, no Graveyard in Richmond,VA. Songkick gave me bad info and I bought tickets months in advance only to learn on 10/2/19 that Graveyard was in fact NOT PLAYING on 10/3/19 in Richmond. I was quite bummed. I do wanna give a shout out to The Broadberry and Eventbrite for refunding the cost of the 3 tickets. I can only hope I get to see these cats one day !

The show exceeded my expectations!

Great performance by the whole band. The sound was not perfect but it was good enough. The length of the show good although you can't just get enough of your favourite group!

Reasonably priced tickets if one booked early.

Musicians were really down to earth and a built good rapport with audience wich responded wonderfully although a bit shy as the show started.

Adorable musicianship by the band and just perfect vocals coming from the graveyard somewhere.

Great show, we enjoyed a lot, and the place is well organized, comfortable, equipped with enough easy to use lockers, with good ventilation. The only but painful disappointment was the sound, so badly managed with so good possibilities. At the beginning you barely heard the voice, then something else became too strong - bass or heights. Only closer to the end of the show it became balanced enough so you could hear good both instruments and vocal.

Awesome show, the band is phenomenal and very approachable.

The repertoire was what everyone expected and had an incredible time seeing them! It started on time, the length of the time was adequate. The vibe of the concert was electric and everyone had a great time. It's one of those bands that deliver playing live, Joakim Nilsson's voice was superb. Very happy of being able to see them live.

Amazing gig! Love when bands sound better live than recordings (recordings are great, but live was even better).

I have seen Graveyard several times, never disappointed:)

Will definitely catch them next time they are in Australia.

Super soirée avec Kamchatka, Graveyard et Clutch pour finir. C'est dommage que nos amis suédois de Graveyard n'aient joué que 40 minutes parce que c'était très très bien. Faudra les revoir tous seuls pour en profiter pleinement.

Show was great, the band performed better live than on records.

The place for the show was kind of narrow, so not many people got close to the stage, but the sound was very good. Great show overall, would certainly go again.

Stoner metal stalwarts Baroness, occult rockers Graveyard and proggy doom dealers Pallbearer will hit the UK and Europe together this autumn

Prog/stoner metal favourites Baroness have announced a co-headline tour with occult rockers Graveyard for late 2024.

The pair will be supported by progressive doom quartet Pallbearer as they play across the UK and mainland Europe in October and November.

Tickets will go on sale from 10am local time on Friday, May 17.

Baroness will be touring to promote their latest album Stone , released last year to rave reviews.

Metal Hammer journalist Alex Deller gave the album a glowing 8/10 review .

Deller wrote: “More than a simple distillation or a ‘return to roots’, Stone is an ideas-heavy brute in its own right: a monument to ambition and heaviness, and to refusing to rest too long in one place lest roots or languor take hold.”

Graveyard will be promoting their new album 6 , released via Nuclear Blast Records in September, and Pallbearer will be on the road off the back of new album Mind Burns Alive , which comes out on Friday, May 17.

One second you’re waiting for Semetary to come out and the next he’s in your face. I didn’t feel like I was just watching someone singing their songs on stage. The coordination along with his hard beats was insane. It was a great performance, I’ve never felt anything like it. Great job Haunted Mound

I go to about 3 concerts a week; I absolutely LOVE live music. This was the best concert I’ve ever been to, everyone was having a blast, the music was AMAZING live, it was great!!

Disney rolls out new lineup of programming at 2024 upfront.

Disney rolled out its upcoming lineup of programming in a spring tradition in the TV business that's known as the upfronts.

Part presentation and part celebration, ABC and Disney stars joined the company's top executives at the Javits Center in New York City to promote their shows to the nation's advertisers.

"The upfront is a week, a year where companies come in and they show to our advertisers all of the new content that's coming, either renewed or brand new," said Rita Ferro, Disney's President of Global Advertising.

She adds that the content "is like magic" and "a treasure trove of everything, everyone and everywhere."

Ferro also talked about what she hopes the headlines will be after the upfront.

"Our one hope as a company is that regardless of what you're going to see next week, there is no presentation or stayed more creative and more anchored in world class storytelling and incredible brands that move the hearts and minds of consumers and the Walt Disney Company," Ferro said. "That is what we're known for. At the end of the day, all the content is great, but there's very few companies that can make you feel and have an emotional connection here, like Disney does."

At the upfront, several trailers were debuted for new series for Hulu and Disney+ including "Agatha All Along," High Potential," "Ironheart," "Daredevil: Born Again," "The Acolyte" and more.

Joan Vassos named 1st-ever Golden Bachelorette

After her time was cut short on the inaugural season of "The Golden Bachelor," Joan Vassos, the 61-year-old grandmother and school administrator from Rockland, Maryland, will begin her own journey for new love this fall when she steps into the historic role as the first Golden Bachelorette.

The fan favorite will bring her signature grace and charm as she embarks on a search for her next person, showcasing that everyone is worthy of more than just a second chance at love, when "The Golden Bachelorette" premieres Wednesdays this fall on ABC and streams next day on Hulu.

Super Bowl champion Jason Kelce joins ESPN

ESPN has signed Jason Kelce to a multi-year agreement , adding the vibrant personality as an analyst on the company's marquee programming around premier NFL telecasts.

The 13-year NFL veteran joins "Monday Night Countdown" each week, leading into Monday Night Football throughout the regular season and ESPN's Super Wild Card and Divisional Round playoff games.

The six-time NFL All-Pro will also become a member of ESPN's Super Bowl studio coverage each year, including Super Bowl LXI in Los Angeles (February, 2027) when America's Biggest Game airs on ESPN and ABC. Additional postseason studio appearances will occur annually, including during the NFL's Conference Championship weekend.

Selena Gomez announces 'Wizards Beyond Waverly Place'

The official title of the new series, which is a continuation of "Wizards of Waverly Place," was announced by Selena Gomez at the upfront. The singer and actress serves as the new series' executive producer and guest star.

Gomez and David Henrie are reprising their roles as Alex and Justin Russo. The show also stars Janice LeAnn Brown, Mimi Gianopulos, Alkaio Thiele, Max Matenko and Taylor Cora.

The series follows an adult Justin Russo, who has chosen to lead a normal, mortal life with his family, Giada, Roman and Milo. When Justin's sister Alex brings Billie to his home seeking help, Justin realizes he must dust off his magical skills to mentor the wizard-in-training while also juggling his everyday responsibilities - and safeguarding the future of the Wizard World.

The series is slated to premiere on Disney Channel and Disney+ later this year.

Bruce Springsteen documentary coming to Hulu, Disney+

Hulu and Disney+ announced that they will launch "Road Diary: Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band" in October of this year.

The new documentary will feature unprecedented, behind-the-scenes access to their 2023-2024 world tour.

The film begins with a one-of-a-kind look at the band's preparation process, following them from their earliest rehearsals in Red Bank, New Jersey, to performances for tens-of-thousands across continents.

All the while, fans get the chance to experience professionally shot footage from the 2023-2024 tour for the first time ever - in addition to hearing firsthand from band members about performing on stage with Springsteen and how they keep the magic of The E Street Band as potent as ever.

The film was directed by Springsteen's longtime collaborator Thom Zimny and produced by Zimny, Jon Landau, Bruce Springsteen, Adrienne Gerard and Sean Stuart.

Hulu announces new stand-up comedy brand 'Hulu's Laughing Now'

Comedian Jim Gaffigan announced the launch of Hulu's comedy stand-up brand, "Hulu's Laughing Now," from the upfront stage on Tuesday.

Gaffigan will be the first comedian to host a stand-up special as part of the new brand, with his special "The Skinny" launching on the platform Nov. 22.

"Hulu's Laughing Now" will feature 12 comedy specials per year, adding one new comic per month.

Serena Williams to host 2024 ESPYS on ABC

Calling it a "dream come true," tennis legend Serena Williams will host The 2024 ESPYS on July 11 at 8 p.m.

Williams' turn as host of The ESPYS will immediately follow the July 10 premiere of the first episode of the ESPN+ Original Series, "In the Arena: Serena Williams." This 8-part series provides an inside look at her legendary career, featuring firsthand perspective from Williams and key figures throughout her life.

ABC fall primetime schedule released

On the same day of the upfront, ABC announced its 2024-2025 fall primetime schedule. The lineup features new scripted dramas backed by prolific creative teams and a deep bench of established fan-favorite series. Additionally, "The Bachelor" franchise expands with its newest iteration. Fall premiere dates will be announced soon, and additional midseason announcements will be made at a later time.

'He fostered a community that will never be the same without him': Matt Miller, founder of Irish Fest, dies at 54

APPLETON - When Matt Miller called Patrick Murphy, singer for Irish band, Gaelic Storm , inviting them to perform at the very first Irish Fest in Oshkosh, Murphy had just one request for Miller.

"I told him 'Miller, if you're going to do it, you better do it right'," Murphy said. "We had no idea what to expect and when we got to Oshkosh, sure enough, he had done a fantastic job."

Miller died unexpectedly on May 6 at the age of 54. Close friends of Miller said celebrating and bringing Irish culture to his community was very important to him, prompting him to start Irish Fest, which debuted in Oshkosh in 2009.

Irish Fest is an annual event that features live performances from Irish bands and artists, food and drinks, activities for all ages, merchandise and opportunities for shopping. The festival moved to Appleton in 2021 after being held in Oshkosh since its debut year.

"He will be missed by people that never even knew him," said friend and former colleague of Miller's, Gigi Becker. "That's a true legacy."

Jeff Propson worked alongside Miller for about 10 years as the vice president of the Oshkosh Irish Fest. Propson said his time with Miller lead to him establishing some of the most important friendships in his life.

"What I like to think about Matt most of all, is how he connected so many people together," Propson said. "What a legacy to have brought so many people together through a common cause of fostering Irish music and culture."

Miller also owned and managed McGuinness Irish Pub , 201 S. Walnut St. in Appleton. In 2015, the original owners John and Anna McGuiness turned the business over to their son-in-law Chris Meyer and his two partners Eric Buss and Miller. By 2018, Miller completely bought out the buisness and building because he wanted to see it remain in business and stay true to its authentic Irish pub feel, he told the Post-Crescent in June of that year.

There, his love for Irish culture continued to be displayed as the bar hosted events including St. Patrick's Day week, Irish Heritage Day and Celebrity Bartending, where bands like Skerryvore would work behind the bar for the night.

"Miller hosted our first ever Whisky Sessions in the Harp Room of McGuiness," said Skerryvore band member, Daniel Gillespie "We somehow ended up working behind the bar which soon became a regular occurrence as Celebrity Bartending on our tour schedule."

Skerryvore performed at McGuiness Irish Pub and Irish Fest on multiple occasions.

Other patrons at McGuiness simply enjoyed the Irish and Celtic atmosphere the bar gave off.

"My friend group of about 30 college-age boys couldn't wait to get home from break to see Matt and hang out at McGuiness," said John Fogarty, a close friend of Miller. "We loved the environment so much we nicknamed it 'the headquarters.'"

Fogarty said Miller hosted his band, Collective Ex , many times at McGuiness.

"He was caring and selfless and he fostered a community that will never be the same without him," Fogarty said.

Miller was involved in several nonprofits including Boy Scouts of America , the Humane Society and Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) . After starting the Oshkosh Irish Fest, Miller went on to be the founder of the Oshkosh St. Patrick's Day Parade and Tent Party as well as the Oshkosh Oktoberfest.

Many of Miller's friends said he was dedicated to anything he set his mind to.

"You always need somebody like that, you need a Matt Miller on any festival to make it successful," Murphy said. "I think he was just so proud of his community and he really enjoyed showing it off."

A visitation service was held at St. Mary's Church, 312 State St. in Appleton, on May 13. A funeral liturgy was held following day, May 14, in the same location. Miller will be laid to rest at Assumption Cemetery in Wheaton, IL.

His family requests donations be made to Irish Fest of Fox Cities in lieu of flowers. The link for donations can be found on the Irish Fest of Fox Cities' Facebook page.

"There must be some great party or festival waiting for Matt in heaven that he lefts us all too soon," Propson said. "We will miss him terribly and he will leave a void that will be hard to fill."

An Overview of the IELTS

The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is designed to measure English proficiency for educational, vocational and immigration purposes. The IELTS measures an individual's ability to communicate in English across four areas of language: listening , reading , writing and speaking . The IELTS is administered jointly by the British Council, IDP: IELTS Australia and Cambridge English Language Assessment at over 1,100 test centres and 140 countries. These test centres supervise the local administration of the test and recruit, train and monitor IELTS examiners.

IELTS tests are available on 48 fixed dates each year, usually Saturdays and sometimes Thursdays, and may be offered up to four times a month at any test centre, including Bratsk depending on local needs. Test results are available online 13 days after your test date. You can either receive your Test Report Form by post or collect it from the Test Centre.
