Weedeater will steam across Europe and the UK in support of their last smoking hot full-length, “Goliathan” (2015), which is still available in various formats from the Season of Mist shop here . “Goliathan” is furthermore streaming in full here .
Those infamous sludge outlaws Weedeater finally return with their long-awaited fifth full-length “Goliathan”. Their new album marks the crossroads where true Southern rock and metal meet raw humour, old religion, as well as weed and whiskey. “Goliathan” embodies the band’s trademark shuffle and swagger at their fullest. Syrupy slow riffs are buoyed by canyon-deep bass and some of the hardest-hitting drumming since Keith Moon. Full-on bruisers such as “Cain Enabler”, “Claw of the Sloth”, and the aptly-named “Bully” demonstrate that “Goliathan” is delivering a vintage Weedeater and the soon-to-be gold standard of Southern sludge metal. At its founding, the band rose like a doobie phoenix out of the ashes of Buzzov•en. When the cult sludge act called it a day, bass player Dave “Dixie” Collins teamed up with guitarist Dave “Shep” Shepherd and founded Weedeater in the harbor town of Wilmington about the year 1998. Their crushing and massive first full-length “…and Justice for Y’all” (2001) created an immediate buzz, while critics were struggling to put a tag on their sound. Nearly everybody agreed that stoner rock, doom, sludge and some crusty elements were part of the mix, which the band simply calls “weed metal”. The debut was produced by renowned engineer Billy Anderson (Eyehategod, Neurosis), as well as sophomore album “Sixteen Tons” (2002).
Weedeater went out to perform live with Corrosion Of Conformity and Alabama Thunderpussy among others. After some detours of Dixie Dave, who played shortly with Bongzilla and Sourvein, third album “God Luck and Good Speed” hit the world in 2007 and shifted the band’s focus slightly towards the stoner side. The latest full-length “Jason… the Dragon” got delayed when vocalist “Dixie” Dave lost a toe due to an incident with his favourite shotgun. When the sludge driven album finally came out in 2011, shows in the US and Europe cemented the band’s reputation as a fierce live entity. After signing to Season of Mist, Weedeater reissued their full back-catalogue on their new label. Yet the Bible Belt state of North Carolina, USA remains a fertile ground for hemp and stoner rock. “Goliathan” makes the South smoke again. Lean back and let this monster record blow your mind!

Weedeater are a wild breed of music with their sludge metal music, from North Carolina. They have been together long enough to release four full-length albums, with their most recent album having just come out last month. Tonight it is all about their biggest songs and their biggest songs only, who would know anyway, as I’m pretty sure the horde of punters literally took the band name quite literally, as they probably had it for the dinner before they came to the show this evening. It’s hard to describe their music as it is so loose and rough – sludgy might just be the perfect word for it. Their opening song is called “Hammerhandle” which induces many mosh pits but definitely the slowest mosh pits I’ve ever seen with everyone looking a little bit worse for wear, one member of the audience even stumbles onto the stage, managing to keep his drink in hand, and then wanders around it for a little bit before falling off.

Weedeater never disappoint. There were three openers, I only caught the last one -- Telekinetic Yeti. They really got the crowd going with some groovy, heavy stoner doom type jams. Weedeater was as tight as ever, with a new drummer and Dixie Dave's crazy antics. Highly recommend.
These fellas always produce, big thick high energy sludge, its fucking loud, its in your face, it is fun. A few flying PBR cans from audience but had an amazing time, Randy fn Blythe (sp?) Sat in for a song!!!!
If you doom, go see Weed Eater.
The weedeater show was as awesome as expected. The Ace Of Cups venue in Columbus Ohio is one of my favorites in town. The opening bands were killer, especially Black Wizard. We got pictures and handshakes with dave and shep also. Very good show
Seen them several times by this point as they constantly tour, and they never disappoint. Great live sound, and Dixie's antics are always entertaining. Go see them if you haven't, or even if you have.
Great show last night, they played an amazing set list. Can't wait to set them again. Syracuse is a great place to see shows. The Lost Horizon is a great venue to play.

After signing to Season of Mist, Weedeater reissued their full back-catalogue on their new label. Yet the Bible Belt state of North Carolina, USA remains a fertile ground for hemp and stoner rock. Weedeater rose like a doobie out of the harbor town of Wilmington about the year 1998. Their crushing and massive first full-length …and Justice for Y’all (2001) created an immediate buzz, while critics were struggling to put a tag on their sound. Nearly everybody agreed that stoner rock, doom, sludge and some crusty elements were part of the mix, which the band simply calls “weed metal”. Their debut was produced by renowned engineer Billy Anderson (Eyehategod, Neurosis) as well as sophomore album Sixteen Tons (2002). After some detours of Dixie Dave, third album God Luck and Good Speed hit the world in 2007 and shifted the band’s focus slightly towards the stoner side. Jason… the Dragon got delayed when Dave lost a toe due to an incident with his favorite shotgun. When the sludge driven album finally came out in 2011, shows in the US and Europe cemented the band’s reputation as a fierce live entity. After signing to Season of Mist, Weedeater reissued their full back-catalogue. Their most recent album ‘Goliathan’ makes the South smoke again. Lean back and let this monster record blow your mind!

How to get tickets for Janet Jackson’s 2024 UK tour
The Queen of Pop’s Together Again tour will see her come to UK stages for the first time in five years
Janet Jackson stans, the wait is officially over. After bringing her superior glamour and showmanship to stages across North America as part of her Together Again tour, Ms Jackson has announced today (April 29) that she’ll be extending that tour to the UK and Europe.
Janet will come to the UK in September and August later this year, marking the first time the popstar has performed in here since appearing at Glastonbury in 2019. She’ll be celebrating 50 years in entertainment (having started at the ripe old age of seven) and the 35-year anniversary of one of her most critically acclaimed albums, Rhythm Nation .
Excited? Here’s how to secure tickets.
When is Janet Jackson going on her UK tour 2024?
The singer will be playing four dates in the UK in the autumn. She’ll start in Birmingham on September 27 before heading to London on September 28 , Glasgow on September 30 and Manchester on October 1 .
When do tickets go on sale?
General sale goes live on Friday, May 3 at 9am on Ticketmaster .
Is there a presale?
Mastercard holders will get to enjoy early access via this link on Tuesday, April 30 at 9am, while fans with the O2 Priority app can get their hands on presale tickets from Wednesday, May 1.
There’s also a chance to secure tickets early if you sign up to an artist presale over on Jackson’s website here .
How much will tickets cost?
Tickets will cost between £69.80 and £160.60 for Janet Jackson’s UK tour dates.
Where else is Janet Jackson touring as part of her 2024 European tour?
Before coming to the UK, the singer is set to play in Paris . Then, after her show in Manchester, she’ll head back to mainland Europe and perform in Antwerp , Munich , Cologne , Berlin and Amsterdam .
What has been said about the tour?
When Jackson started her Together Again last year, Billboard called it ‘one hell of a party’ and Rolling Stone wrote: ‘ She still dances with the type of effortless, sweat-free ease that’s made her such a standout in all eras of her career.’

“Prepare.”
Sleep Token are currently in the US and will start their Teeth Of God North American run tomorrow at the Financial Theatre in Phoenix, Arizona.
The band are promoting their 2023 album Take Me Back To Eden , which was released via Spinefarm.
Metal Hammer gave Take Me Back To Eden a glowing 8/10 review upon release.
Journalist Dannii Leivers wrote: “Combining feeling and sound in a potent, masterful statement, …Eden is Sleep Token’s strongest effort to date.
“And, while they’ll always be Marmite, there’s no question it will delight those already onboard.
“This is a record that not only expands the band’s universe and continues to prod metal’s boundaries, but considers what it means to be human. Otherworldly they may be, but there’s the deepest empathy within.”
Sleep Token have since inked a deal with major label RCA.
The band announced the signing by calling it the start of their “new era”, which they’d previously teased by unveiling new masks in December 2023.
Mask designer Lani Hernadez-David stated in an interview with Metal Hammer that month: “I’m sure they have something in mind that the fans will appreciate greatly.
“There’s definitely a new era coming, but I won’t speak too much on that, because I’m not really clued up on it.”

Two-time Oscar-winning singer Billie Eilish will be touring the world this year and next, and coming to venues in the UK next summer - including the so-far ill fated Co-Op Live in Manchester.

Billie Eilish has announced a new tour and will be coming to the UK next summer.
The 22-year year old 's show is named after her latest album - Hit Me Hard And Soft - and will kick off in North America in September.
It will then head to Australia in February 2025, before travelling across Europe and arriving in the UK on 7 July when she will perform for two nights in Glasgow, at OVO Hydro.
Eilish will then play six nights at the O2 in London, and four nights at the new Co-Op Live arena in Manchester - a venue that has been beset with problems as it prepares to open to the public.
The singer will then play two gigs in Dublin, Ireland, at the 3Arena.
A vocal environmentalist, fans are being encouraged to take "sustainable transport" during the tour, which will also feature "eco-villages" and encourage plant-based food options.
The tour will partner with the plant-based food organisation Support + Feed - an initiative founded by Eilish's mother Maggie Baird - and environmental non-profit organisation REVERB.

Eilish's third studio album comes out on 17 May, a month after Taylor Swift 's much lauded album The Tortured Poets Department .
Like Swift, Eilish is encouraging fans to listen to the collection as a whole, saying on her website that the new body of work should be listened to chronologically as it "hits you hard and soft both lyrically and sonically, while bending genres and defying trends along the way".
She's not released any singles in advance, encouraging fans to listen "in one go".
The album cover features Eilish on her back under dark water with a white door open above her.
Eilish's last album was 2021's Happier Than Ever, and her debut record When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? was released in 2019.
The youngest person ever to have won two Oscars, she took home the award for best original song Oscar gong for Barbie's What Was I Made For? in March, and won the same prize for James Bond's No Time To Die in 2022.
Tickets for Hit Me Hard And Soft go on general sale on Friday.

“I can’t wait to bring my band back to the UK for my 2025 Commitment arena tour,” said David of the newly announced dates. “Looking forward to having a party and mixing up the classics and maybe something new…”
The singer first burst onto the scene with his critically acclaimed debut album, ‘Born To Do It’, a genre-defining record that solidified him as a huge name in the UK R&B scene. One of his biggest hits remains as the 1999 track ‘Re-Rewind’, which has gone on to become a UK garage classic.
In the time since the song put him on the map, David has gone on to gather 14 BRIT Award nominations, two Grammy nominations, four MOBO awards, three Ivor Novellos, and collaborate with everyone from Sting to Diplo to KSI.
He also has one of Ibiza’s most long-standing residencies, playing Ibiza Rocks for what will be the seventh year later this summer.
In other Craig David news, earlier this year it was confirmed that the singer – as well as AJ Tracey and Annie Lennox – was among those to have joined the #Justice4Windrush campaign.
The campaign aims to ensure that more of the 15,000 people eligible for compensation after historical wrongful deportation from the UK are able to claim their money.
