Inside Nicole Kidman's Relationship With Her Kids Bella And Connor Cruise

Nicole Kidman and Tom Cruise are the parents of two adopted children, Connor and Isabella "Bella" Cruise. When the couple split, the "Moulin Rogue" actor's relationship with their kids became fractured. She has since moved on with country star Keith Urban and welcomed two girls, Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret, but there has been much speculation about where things stand with Kidman and her eldest children.

The specifics of their relationship may be vague, but when Kidman speaks about Connor and Bella to the press, there's a lot of love. "Motherhood is about the journey. There are going to be incredible peaks and valleys, whether you are an adopting mother or a birth mother. What a child needs is love," she said in  The Sun  in 2019. She has also made it clear that there is no difference between having adopted or biological children. "It's the emotion of attaching to a child and helping to guide them and rear them [that is important]," she told Tatler in 2018.

They are all grown up, and their mom feels they've turned out well. "They are healthy and sane and together and are great, great people," she told Associated Press (via Daily Mail ) in 2010. "So I'm not one of those people that needs to be reminded of what I have." But that doesn't mean everything has always been perfect. Here's how Nicole Kidman's relationship with Bella and Connor has evolved over the years.

Nicole Kidman adopted her children in in 1992 and 1995

Nicole Kidman and Tom Cruise married in 1990. The "Batman Forever" actor knew she wanted to start a family with her husband, but the traditional route was not possible for them. "From the minute Tom and I were married, I wanted to have babies," Kidman told Vanity Fair . "And we lost a baby early on, so that was really very traumatic. And that's when we would adopt [our daughter] Bella."

The Oscar winner has been open about her fertility and miscarriage and how it impacted her experience with motherhood. "I wish I'd had more children, but I wasn't given that choice," she told Marie Claire in 2021. She did become a mom for the first time, thanks to adoption. First to Isabella "Bella" Cruise in 1992 and later to Connor Cruise in 1995. The love the star felt for her children was instant.

"When I held Bella in my arms, that was everything. I look into those eyes, and that crazy love happens — it's crazy love because you'll do anything when you have a child," Kidman told The Independent in a 1998 interview. "It opens up a part of your heart you didn't even know was there." At the same time, Kidman is open to them connecting with their birth parents. "That's part of my belief on adoption," she told E! News in 2016. "If a child wants to find their birth mother, I'm absolutely supportive of that."

Nicole Kidman's divorce from Tom Cruise impacted her children

There was a time when Nicole Kidman and Tom Cruise were one of Hollywood's hottest couples. "He swept me off my feet. I fell madly, passionately in love," she told The Sun. And things between them moved quickly. "I was so young. I look back now, and I'm like, 'What?' I had two kids by the time I was 27, and I'd been married for four years. But that's what I wanted," she shared.

But that ended with their divorce in 2001. Following their split, something seemingly shifted in Kidman's relationship with her children."They live with Tom, which was their choice," she said in 2010, per  Hello!  magazine. "I'd love them to live with us, but what can you do?" Kidman and Tom agreed to joint custody of their children, but there's been much speculation about how much time she spends with them. There would be years without photographs of them in public, and there have been reports that Tom has excluded Kidman from special events, like their son's wedding, per Radar . (In 2019, Connor reportedly married Silvia Zanchi, who is a member of the Church of Scientology.) 

The questions about their dynamic were fueled when Kidman accepted an Emmy for Best Actress in a Limited Series in 2017 for her work in "Big Little Lies" and mentioned only her youngest kids in her speech. "I am also a mother and a wife. I have two little girls, Sunny and Faith," she said. "This is yours." 

They stopped calling Nicole Kidman 'mom'

Nicole Kidman has been reluctant to share too much about her relationship with Bella and Connor Cruise, but she has offered some rather telling details over the years. "My kids don't call me mommy, they don't even call me mom," she once told GMTV (via Marie Claire ). "They call me Nicole, which I hate, and tell them off for it."

To make matters worse, Tom Cruise's second wife, Katie Holmes, had previously gushed about her relationship with his and Kidman's kids. She said in a 2007 interview with Parade (via People ), "His first two children [Connor and Isabella] are incredible, really smart and kind. They call me 'Mom.'" In an interview with Vanity Fair in 2006, Holmes also spoke about the teens and their bond with their sister, Suri Cruise. "It's really special to see them [Bella and Connor] holding their little sister," she said. "To hear them talk about all of the fun things they are going to do together." Following Tom and Holmes' divorce, Suri reportedly became estranged from Tom ;  Suri's current relationship with her older siblings  is unclear.

Despite the complex relationship dynamics between Kidman and her children, she has stressed the importance of motherhood — regardless of the circumstances. "My daughter and son, their life is molded by the way I live," she said in a 2007 interview (via People ). "If I wasn't willing to take on that responsibility, I shouldn't have adopted them." 

Nicole Kidman's children are members of the Church of Scientology

Tom Cruise is arguably one of the most famous members of the Church of Scientology, and his older children, Bella and Connor Cruise, have followed in his footsteps. "They are adults," Nicole Kidman said in a 2018 interview with Who magazine. "They are able to make their own decisions. They have made choices to be Scientologists, and as a mother, it's my job to love them." She added that she would continue to accept them because she is their parent. "No matter what your child does, the child has love, and the child has to know there is available love, and I'm open here," she shared.

Actor and former Scientologist Leah Remini has been far less diplomatic about the Kidman-Cruise kids' upbringing. In her 2015 memoir, "Troublemaker: Surviving Hollywood and Scientology," "The King of Queens" star claimed Bella and Connor were kept away from any outside information that, as she put it, "might get them asking questions." Remini also remembered once asking Bella and Connor about spending time with Kidman. According to Remini, Bella allegedly responded, "Not if I have a choice. Our mom is a f***ing SP." "SP" stands for "suppressive person," which is the term the church uses for anyone who they view as an enemy.

Despite this, Kidman is supportive. "I've chosen not to speak publicly about Scientology. I have two children who are Scientologists — Connor and Isabella — and I utterly respect their beliefs," she told The Hollywood Reporter in 2013.

Nicole Kidman wants her relationship with her kids to remain private

Nicole Kidman is one of the biggest stars in the entertainment industry. As such, there will always be an interest in what she does and what happens in her personal life. While she is willing to share some of it with fans, like her fertility issues, there are other aspects she prefers to keep under wraps, like her relationship with her two oldest children. "I'm very private about all that. I have to protect all those relationships," she said in an interview with the Hollywood Foreign Press Association in 2018 (via Hello! magazine ). "I know 150 percent that I would give up my life for my children because it's what my purpose is." Kidman has also made a point of keeping her two youngest children, Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret, away from the spotlight.

Bella and Connor Cruise seem to be more than fine with leading relatively quiet lives. "[Connor] is DJing, he's doing really well. Bella lives in London now," Kidman said in a 2013 interview with " Extra ." "I think that, you know, everybody has their own path, and when they find their path, it's such relief as a parent, you know?" She has also praised them for who they have become. In a 2014 interview with The Weekly , she said, "They are generous, kind, and hardworking, and these are traits that I love to see in my children."

Nicole Kidman has a deep love for her children

In the interviews Nicole Kidman has given about her children, she has made one thing clear: she loves them. While promoting her film "Lion," which is a story that involves adoption, she told Town & Country , "This movie is a love letter to my children." The 2016 biographical feature, which also stars Dev Patel, follows a young man who spent the bulk of his childhood with adoptive parents and wants to find his biological family. "I relate to that. I feel that for my own children who are adopted," Kidman said. "It's not about anything else other than 'I wanted you.' It's that deep and personal, and whatever your journey is, I'm here to love and support you."

Despite the obvious love she has for Bella and Connor, Kidman has been honest about how parenting can be a challenge. No matter what, she approaches it with openness and offers support. "Parenting is about learning who they are, not making them what you want them to be — letting them find their way then supporting them," she told The Sun. "It's rigorous. You're constantly looking at yourself, so you're not placing these expectations on a child." When asked to name the most difficult thing about being a mother in Vogue's "73 Questions" series, she replied, "Knowing I won't be here forever, so I won't always be here to take care of them."

Bella Cruise moved to London and lives her life mostly out of the spotlight, although she has a public Instagram page and refers to herself as Bella Kidman Cruise. There is much chatter about her bond with her mom, but she set the record straight in a 2012 interview with New Idea magazine (via E! News ). "I love mom. She's my mom. She's great. I see her sometimes, and I speak to her," she said. "We're a very close family. I love all of our family."

In 2015, Bella married Max Parker at the Dorchester Hotel. Neither Nicole Kidman nor Tom Cruise were there. While there was speculation about why Bella's parents skipped out on the wedding, a tipster told the Daily Mail  that they simply wanted to avoid creating a media frenzy. The source also claimed Kidman was involved in the planning process.

The wedding may have excluded Kidman, but Bella's marriage is believed to have opened doors. About a year after the wedding, Bella and Kidman reunited. "It was a very emotional moment for all of them, especially Nicole," a tipster told Woman's Day Australia (via New Zealand Herald ) in 2016. "It didn't take long for her to burst into tears, and Bella soon followed." This was also an opportunity for the actor to meet Parker, and the source said she took "an instant liking" to him.

Connor Cruise says he has a 'solid' relationship with his mom

While they may not be as close as Nicole Kidman would hope, Connor Cruise has said things are good between them. "I love my mum," he said in an interview with Woman's Day in 2014. "I don't care what people say; I know that me and Mum are solid. I love her a lot. My family means everything. Yeah, I love my music, but the family comes before everything else."

His mother sure seems to share these sentiments about family. In an interview with The Weekly, the actor spoke about her children and husband, Keith Urban. "At this stage of my life, and with time being so precious, the joy I get from us as a family outweighs any joy in any other area of my life by far," she said. 

In addition to working as a DJ, Connor is a keen fisherman, golfs from time to time, and enjoys barbecuing meat. Connor resides in Clearwater, Florida — yes, near Scientology headquarters and one of dad Tom Cruise's many properties. A source told People in 2018, "Connor has a pretty simple life in Clearwater." Though they lead entirely different lives, Kidman supports the path her son has chosen to follow. "Nicole only wants the best for Connor, but she gives him the freedom to make his own decisions, and that includes his religious beliefs and where he wants to live," a tipster told Hollywood Life .

Connor was clearly very excited to watch the Bolts with his friend Aden Darmody, who he was sitting next to in the selfie. He grinned alongside his friend, as he wore an electric blue Lightning jacket. “Nothing better than Stanley Cup Final hockey with family. Go Bolts,” he wrote along with the picture. While Connor sat down by the ice, it looked like Isabella was enjoying the UEFA Euro Championships from the comfort of her bed. She looked like she was lying down in her black and white selfie. She zoomed in as she squinted at the camera to show she was anxious about the overtime in the England versus Denmark game. “My face during extra time. It’s incredibly rare for either of the Cruise children to post a selfie , let alone both posting them on the same night. Connor caused a stir on June 8, when he posted a picture of his brand new haircut in an Instagram story. An avid fisherman, most of Connor’s Instagram posts are out on boats, showing off whatever his latest catch is. He also has a knack for grilling and runs a separate Instagram account to show off all the different meats that he cooks. While her brother cooks and fishes, Isabella is an artist. She usually uses her Instagram to share artistic renderings of celebrities like Lizzo  or  Jessica Torres .

Though the picture is going viral now, it was posted on Instagram in December 2023 by former Tampa Bay Buccaneers linebacker Derrick Brooks. 

“I was a little star-struck but played it cool and he said he was too,” Brooks wrote, in part. 

In the group photo, Cruise, 61, stands in the front row with Connor, who wears a blue vest. Bella smiles as she peeks her head over the shoulder of another woman.

It has been years since Cruise has been publicly photographed together with both Bella and Connor.

Cruise shares Bella and Connor with ex-wife Nicole Kidman. He is also dad of daughter Suri, 18, from his marriage to Katie Holmes.

Bella is an artist and “has been drawing ever since her wee hands could pick up a pen,” according to her website, where she sells tote bags, graphic T-shirts, and limited-edition prints. 

Connor, a former DJ, is an avid fisherman and won a tournament in 2022 after reeling in a 301-pound Warsaw grouper . 

Bella and Connor, like their father, are members of the Church of Scientology. 

In 2010, Cruise opened up to Esquire about the moment he became a dad through adoption.

“I remember that first night, just staring at Bella. I was checking her every second, just looking at her, feeling that immediate bond. On Sept. 30, Bella attended an exhibition of artwork inspired by the band Hole's album Pretty on the Inside , E! reported. The event, which was a prelude to the show that runs from Oct. 2 to Oct. 3, was hosted by Hole founder and lead singer Courtney Love   in London, England, to celebrate the album's 30th anniversary. Bella made a rare appearance at the event, standing beside the piece of art she contributed to the show.

Ahead of the show, on Sept. 17, Bella posted information about the event on Instagram and shared her excitement about participating. "Is this real life? *pinches self* I am beyond excited to be taking part in this exhibition," she wrote on her Instagram, adding that she was honored to be among the artists contributing to the Hole show. "What a dream," she wrote.

Bella pointed out that the money made at the event would be "all for charity."

Bella has been an artist since she was young.

Bella has been making art for years, often sharing select pieces on her Instagram.

She also has her own website , where she sells prints, totes, pins, and shirts that feature her art. "Bella has been drawing ever since her wee hands could pick up a pen. Since that point in time, she’s been evolving in her arts," her website reads. "Her go-to medium was pen and paper for most of her life. However, she is now venturing into other formats and mediums. Including digital. Which has been a bit of a game changer in her opinion."

Bella lives in London with her husband of six years.

She currently lives in London with her husband of six years, IT professional Max Parker . The pair had a small Scientology wedding in 2015 with only their close friends present. In 2016, Bella told the Daily Mail that although neither her nor Parker's parents were present for the wedding, that doesn't mean they're not in touch, as some press has speculated . "Of course [we talk], they're my parents. Anyone who says otherwise is full of s***," she said.

When asked about her children with Cruise in a 2018 interview with Australia’s  Who  magazine ,  Kidman opened up about their decision to practice Scientology , the controversial religion Cruise has long championed.

"They are adults," Kidman said of Bella and Connor. "They are able to make their own decisions. They have made choices to be Scientologists, and as a mother, it’s my job to love them.”

Bella and Connor also have a handful of siblings from their parents' second marriages. Kidman has two daughters , 13-year-old Sunday Kidman Urban and 10-year-old Faith Kidman Urban , with husband Keith Urban . Cruise shares 15-year-old Suri Cruise with ex-wife Katie Holmes .

Finding images of Tom Cruise’s adopted daughter is usually a mission impossible — until now.

Isabella “Bella” Kidman Cruise made a rare social media appearance on Sunday, Sept. 17, when she shared a selfie on her Instagram .

In the carefree picture captioned “What a summer,” the 30-year-old looks coyly at the camera. Donning a simple white top with a cute bow decorating her décolletage, the brunette shows off her appreciation of jewelry wearing a number of gold necklaces around her neck and a gold ring in her nose.

Bella, an artist, normally shares images of work with her nearly 52,000 followers.

According to her website , “Bella has been drawing ever since her wee hands could pick up a pen. Since that point in time she’s been evolving in her arts.”

Bella sells her work on reasonably priced totes, pins and limited edition prints. “Her go-to medium was pen and paper for most of her life,” the site explains. “However, she is now venturing into other formats and mediums. Including digital. Which has been a bit of a game changer in her opinion.”

Bella was adopted by Cruise, 60, and Nicole Kidman, 55, in 1992 after the couple married in 1990. The Hollywood pair also share a son Connor, 28.

Bella and Conor have chosen to stay mostly out of the limelight and in the past their superstar parents have chosen to keep their children’s lives out of the public eye as well.

“I’m very private about all that,” the Academy Award-winning actress told Australian outlet  Who  in 2018. “I have to protect all those relationships. I know 150 per cent that I would give up my life for my children because it’s what my purpose is.”

Kidman is set to be awarded the Life Achievement Award at the The American Film Institute (AFI) ceremony on June 10, but it is rumored that Connor and Bella may not be in attendance although they have both been invited.

“Nicole knows Connor is extremely loyal to his dad so she doesn’t expect him to come, but the invitation is there for both of them,” an alleged source tells  New Idea . ‘It’s an event they have every right to celebrate along with the rest of Nicole’s family.”

The source added: “Nicole is trying to limit her expectations, but is clinging to hope Bella might make it.”

Also set to be in attendance at the ceremony are Kidman’s two daughters Sunday, 14, and Faith, 12, whom she shares with her husband Keith Urban.

On June 2, Tom Cruise  and ex-wife Nicole Kidman 's son shared a group selfie with two friends at Belleair Country Club in Florida on his Instagram Stories.

Connor, 28, last posted a pic of himself on his account April 29 . In the photo, he was also seen golfing with a friend at a different county club in the state, where he lives.

Both Connor, a DJ, and his sister, artist  Bella Kidman Cruise , 30, have largely kept out of the spotlight despite growing up with famous parents, and rarely post on social media. Connor is occasionally photographed at fashion events and sometimes attends ballgames with his dad . He also shares Instagram pics of himself golfing, fishing or grilling meats, as well as throwback images of himself and his sister as children.

Connor and Bella are the only children Tom and Nicole, who divorced in 2001 , share together. The  Mission: Impossible actor also shares daughter  Suri Cruise , 17, with ex-wife  Katie Holmes , while the  Big Little Lies actress and husband Keith Urban  are parents to daughters  Sunday Rose Kidman Urban , 14, and Faith Margaret Kidman Urban , 12.

Nicole Kidman   may have a celebrated acting career but there's nothing she's more proud of than being a mom. 

The 56-year-old Moulin Rouge star has children with both her ex-husband Tom Cruise and her current husband Keith Urban , and she is fiercely private about her kids.

However, over the years Nicole has delighted fans with an insight into her personal life and how she feels about raising her brood.

Bella Kidman Cruise

Nicole became a mom in 1992 when she and her then-husband, Tom, adopted the first of their two children together, Bella .  Like her father, Bella is a Scientologist 

Bella, 31, shies away from public life, living in Croydon with her husband, Max Parker. The couple got married in 2015, although her mother and father were unable to make the wedding due to work commitments. She lives a relatively normal life as an artist and graphic designer, sharing her work onInstagram to her 55,000 followers.

"You know, she really feels more English," Nicole told Vanity Fair   of Bella. "We lived there for Eyes Wide Shut , Mission Impossible , and The Portrait of a Lady . They both had English accents when they were little."

Many fans speculated that Bella and Nicole weren't on speaking terms, but the duo appear to show each other warmth as the 31-year-old recently liked her mother's post about being honored by the American Film Institute with their Life Achievement Award.

As well as Bella, Nicole adopted son Connor with Tom - who is also a Scientologist. The 29-year-old lives in Florida, owning the barbecuing business Connor's Meat Shack. He is also an avid deep sea fisher, sharing his impressive finds on Instagram. 

Nicole has dismissed rumors that her children were estranged from her, explaining: "Motherhood is about the journey. There are going to be incredible peaks and valleys, whether you are an adopting mother or a birth mother. What a child needs is love."

 She added: "They have made choices to be Scientologists. It’s our job as a parent to always offer unconditional love."

Sunday Rose Kidman Urban

Nicole gave birth to Sunday in July 2008. The couple reportedly named their daughter after Aussie patron of the arts, Sunday Reed, but also claim that Sunday is their "favorite day".

Not long after Sunday was born, the couple moved to Nashville, and they split their time between Australia and Tennessee.

Already, Sunday has shown an interest in following in her parents' footsteps. "I'm raising a little girl that's showing an interest in directing right now," Nicole revealed in 2018. "I want her to have a path for that."

Faith Margaret Kidman Urban

Keith and Nicole then had daughter Faith via surrogate in 2010. However, the couple didn't announce news of Faith's birth nor the fact that they had even been expecting a second child until 2011.

Following their announcement, Nicole explained that they had chosen to keep the news a secret in order to protect everyone involved in the process. "I wanted to be able to tell everybody because I was so excited about her," she told an E! News reporter at the SAG Awards in 2011.

"[But] we just decided this was our thing together. It kind of just perpetuated itself… it protects [Faith] and it protects everyone in the situation."

The two have grown up away from the Hollywood spotlight, although that hasn't stopped them from making waves in the entertainment industry themselves.

Both of Nicole and Keith's daughters have landed a number of roles as extras over the years, while hanging out on set with their mom.

These have included Big Little Lies and The Undoing . Talking to News.com.au in October 2020, a proud Nicole opened up about her children having roles on the latter project.

"They're used to being extras, but they did five days in the freezing New York cold, never complained, and didn't get any special treatment," she said. "And then one day they came home and said, 'We got a line!'"

The actress announced the death of her mom at age 84 through a statement that Halina Rejn, who directed her in "Babygirl," read onstage at the Venice Film Festival Sept. 6 while accepting the star's award for Best Actress.

"Today, I arrived in Venice to find out shortly after, that my beautiful, brave mother Janelle Ann Kidman has just passed," Kidman's statement said. "I am in shock and I have to go to my family."

The statement continued, "But this award is for her. She shaped me, she guided me and she made me. I'm beyond grateful that I that I get to say her name to all of you through Halina. The collision of life and art is heartbreaking, and my heart is broken."

The cause of Janelle Kidman's death was not made public.

Nicole Kidman's mother, who worked as a nursing instructor, had suffered health issues in recent years. In 2022, amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the Oscar winner shared that she returned to her family's native Australia to be with her mom.

"We're down here primarily to take care of my mother," the now-57-year-old said in an NPR interview in January of that year, "and to have her surrounded by her grandchildren."

Nicole Kidman added that the family visited the Art Gallery of New South Wales together. "Even though [the] omicron [variant] is raging through this country, we were able to take her into the gallery after hours and show her the Matisse exhibit," she said, "which coming from a mother who’s raised me in the arts, it was soothing balm."

The actress added, "I'm at the place where I'm being given the chance to view the world — because of how close we are, my mom is giving me the chance to view the world through an 81-year-old woman's eyes. That is so beneficial right now because she's so cognizant. She has every faculty, brain faculty, available. She hasn't lost anything. She hasn't lost any memory, which is fascinating."

Nicole Kidman's mom and dad Antony Kidman, who worked as a psychologist, have been among their daughter's biggest cheerleaders throughout her career. They occasionally accompanied her at celebrity events, including at the 2003 Oscars , where they cheered her on from the audience as she won her first Academy Award for "The Hours."

After the actress' father died at age 75 in 2014, Nicole Kidman leaned on the support of her husband, Keith Urban , and their daughters Sunday Rose, now 16, and Faith Margaret, 13.

"I called him screaming and crying and he was about to go on stage and he walked off stage and he got on a plane. He'd just gotten there," the actress said on " CBS Sundays Mornings" in 2016. "He flew six hours and he was right back and he literally picked me up and pretty much carried me through the next two weeks."

The actress added, "And I also had my children going, 'It's gonna be alright, Mama.' It's interesting the way children view things, 'cause they're like, 'You've still got your mommy.'"

Janelle, who shared a close bond with Nicole, had also battled breast cancer in 1985, when the Moulin Rouge star was 17.

"It was very hard to see your mother going through such pain," Nicole told the Sydney Morning Herald in 1997. "It opened my eyes to mortality, and to pain and suffering, and from that point on I was determined to support and be a part of and in some way help."

Nicole and then-husband Tom Cruise went on to finance the Women's Reproductive Cancer Center at UCLA. In 2023, twelve years after they divorced, the actress and Keith made a financial gift to Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center in Nashville to help fund clinical trials for breast cancer treatments.

In addition to the actress, Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret, Janelle is also survived by the actress' younger sister Antonia Kidman, her six kids and Nicole and Tom's children Bella Kidman Cruise, 31, and Connor Cruise , 29.

Isabella Cruise tied the knot in a small and intimate ceremony last month – even her parents were not in attendance

For Isabella Cruise‘s intimate London wedding, it was all about jumpsuits and a minidress.

The 22-year-old, whose parents are Tom Cruise and ex-wife Nicole Kidman , married her boyfriend of less a year, Max Parker, in a small ceremony last month, PEOPLE confirmed on Monday.

In the first photos – some appeared in Australian magazine Woman’s Day , and others were shared to friends’ and wedding guests’ Facebook pages – from the Sept. 18 celebration, held at the British city’s Dorchester Hotel, Isabella and her new husband were all smiles.

Cruise posed alongside her bridesmaids, who wore pale pink, fitted jumpsuits, in one photo . The bride donned a lace, long-sleeve white minidress with black tights, and her cropped hair swooped to one side.

In a since-deleted picture, the wedding party, made up of the couple’s close friends, posed amid cocktails after the ceremony. Parker, a British I.T. consultant, wore a simple white button-down shirt with a maroon tie, as he sat alongside his wife and among the group.

Noticeably absent from the festivities? Isabella’s parents and younger brother, Connor, as Isabella wanted a private and low-key ceremony.

Proud father Tom, 53, has been supportive of the marriage, and even paid for both the wedding and party.

The actor and Kidman, 48, split in 2001 after 11 years of marriage. The pair remain active in the lives of both Isabella and Connor, 20.

Isabella has spent the past three years working toward a career as a professional makeup artist. She recently graduated from West London’s Delmar Academy of Make-up and Hair.

Brief history

Simferopol was the capital of the Scythian State, known as Scythian Naples, during the 3 rd century BC. During the 1 st century the Tartats built their settlements at Ak-Mosque and became the residence of Kalga Sultan, the governor of the Crimean Khanate. The name Simferopol has been used since 1784 when the city was annexed from the Crimean Khanate to the Russian empire  led by Catherine II. Simferopol is a Greek word meaning “city gatherer” or “good city”. Since October 1921 Simferopol has had the status of Capital of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, first as part of the Soviet Union, then from 1991 to the first quarter of 2014 as part of Ukraine. After the Annexation of the peninsula by the Russian Republic, Simferopol remained the capital of Crimea.

Administrative, economic and cultural center

The capital is divided into three districts: Railway or Zaliznychnyi in the north and northeast, Tsentralnyi or Central located in the center and west, and Kyivskyi or Kiev in the south and southeast of the capital.

The parliament of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the Council of Ministers, known as the Verkhovna Rada, are located in Simferopol. The city is also the administrative center of the Simferopol Region.

Its major industries are car manufacturing and agriculture. Volga, a major Russian car manufactures has a plant in the capital producing Volga Cars and Gazelle minibuses. Agriculture is a major employer in the region producing wine, juice, canned and fresh fruits, vegetables, grains and other Mediterranean climate produce.

Transportation

Simferopol is known as the “Gate of Crimea” because it is where all the roads, leading to each corner of the peninsula, meet.

The Simferopol International Airport is located in the outskirts of the capital. It is the largest in the peninsula and receives flights from all over the world. It was constructed in 1936.

The main railway station serves its inhabitants as well as the millions of tourists the city receives every year. During the summer Simferopol’s population more than doubles. The bus service connects the capital to every corner of the peninsula. The trolleybus is the longest trolleybus line in Europe. It connects Simferopol with Alushta in one hour and Yalta in two and a half.
