As well as headlining Reading & Leeds 2023, the US band will head out on a short tour of the country

The Killers have confirmed a short run of UK and Ireland tour dates to complement their headline slots at Reading & Leeds 2023 .

After topping the bill at the twin festivals next August, the Las Vegas-conceived band will head to Scotland, where there will hold their first-ever show in Edinburgh. The group will headline the Royal Highland Centre Showgrounds on August 29.

In September, The Killers will continue the brief tour at Belfast’s Boucher Road Playing Fields before heading to Stradbally to headline the 2023 edition of Electric Picnic.

Tickets for the Edinburgh and Belfast shows will both go on sale at 9am GMT on Monday (December 12). Edinburgh tickets will be available to purchase here , while Belfast tickets will go on sale here .

The short tour follows the band’s massive, sold-out stadium tour this summer , which saw The Killers play to 400,000 fans at shows, including two euphoric nights at London’s Emirates Stadium.

The new dates are the latest to be added to what looks set to be a busy schedule for The Killers next summer. Previously, the band were confirmed to be performing at Atlanta, GA’s Shaky Knees festival alongside Muse and The Lumineers.

Meanwhile, the group’s latest album, Pressure Machine , was released in 2021 and was followed up by the standalone single “boy” in August. Written before the songs that made up Pressure Machine , the themes explored in “boy” helped lead frontman and principal songwriter Brandon Flowers to the subjects that would eventually be the focus of that record.

“This was the first song written after we had to cancel the  Imploding The Mirage  tour due to the pandemic,” Flowers explained in a press release at the time. “I had recently moved back to Utah and started to make trips to Nephi, where I grew up. I found that the place I had wanted to get away from so desperately at 16 was now a place that I couldn’t stop returning to.

“I have a son approaching the age I was at that time in my life. With ‘boy’, I want to reach out and tell myself – and my sons – to not overthink it. And to look for the ‘white arrows’ in their lives. For me now, white arrows are my wife, children, my songs and the stage.”

Since the release of their 2004 debut, Hot Fuss, with its now-classic breakthrough singles Mr Brightside and Somebody Told Me, Las Vegas’ The Killers have gone on to sell 28 million albums, win countless Grammy, Brit, Q, NME nominations and awards and headline stadia and festivals around the world.

Hot Fuss’ follow up, Sam’s Town, a love letter of sorts to the band’s hometown, was released in 2006 and featured When You Were Young and Read My Mind. Third studio album, Day & Age, was released to widespread critical acclaim in 2008, anchored by the massive global hit, Human. 2012’s Battle Born then saw them expand their world tour into countries they’ve never visited before, and ultimately headlining a sold out Wembley Stadium, one of the most significant and memorable shows of their career.

The Killers’ most recent LP, Wonderful Wonderful, was released in September 2017 and saw the group achieve a record breaking fifth consecutive UK Number One, also topping the U.S chart for the very first time. With the addition of that album’s hits, The Man and Run For Cover, The Killers have amassed a truly incredible back catalogue.

The band will be celebrating 20 years of hits

Amy Houghton

‘Mr Brightside’ by The Killers is a bonafide British classic. Sure, The Killers aren’t British, but it’s a fresher's week anthem, wedding crowd-pleaser and pub belter all rolled into one. That song unites all generations from all walks of life, almost as though its lyrics are implanted in our brains from birth. In fact, it has spent a total of 382 weeks (nearly seven years) on and off in the UK charts.

Always wanted to see ‘Mr Brightside’ in the flesh? Now’s your chance. The American band has announced a bunch of live UK shows to celebrate their latest album ‘Rebel Diamonds’, which a compilation of all of their greatest hits from the last two decades including ‘Mr. Brightside’ (obviously), ‘Jenny Was a Friend of Mine’ and ‘When We Were Young’.

Recent tour reviews

It was amazing!!! From the moment they went on stage to the very last second it was just so much positive energy coming from the band. The crowd was bad, but that isn’t The Killers’ fault! They did the absolute most and it paid off. Brandon hit those high notes despite his flu, Ronnie was legendary on the drums, Ted was amazing, the choir was amazing, et cetera et cetera. It’s a shame (especially for the people that DID know all their songs) that the crowd bothered them so much that they didn’t play Mr. Brightside, but again, the band isn’t to blame.

These Las Vegas legends know how to give a great performance!

This was, so far, the best concert for The Killers that I've ever seen (& I've seen them 3 times already). The acoustics for the Staples Center wasn't the absolute best, but it didn't matter when the whole stadium was singing at the top of their lungs along with the band. First of all, since this was the Wonderful Wonderful Tour, I thought the band would play mostly songs from the new album, but to my surprise, they performed a great mix of songs from their entire discography. What surprised me the most was that The Killers played a ton more songs from their Hot Fuss album than they ever had before. They even dug deep to perform such notable songs like "Andy, You're A Star" & "Smile Like You Mean It". A beautifully sweet touch was when the band performed a new, sort of spur-of-the-moment, song about Los Angeles...a song they had written on the road just before their L.A. leg of the tour. One of the major highlights of the entire concert was when the band had invited a young teenage fan up onto the stage to play the drums on the song "For Reasons Unknown". Apparently this has become an ongoing tradition of the band, to invite fans up on the stage to perform with them. This was such a touching, yet totally bad-ass moment, & I hope The Killers keep on doing this at every concert tour from now on. By the end of the concert, my friends & I had lost our voices from singing & screaming so loudly, but it was one thousand percent worth it. The Killers proved with their electrifying & humorous stage presence, along with their amazing voices & talent, that they will forever hold the spot of being my all-time favorite band.

I actually saw the show at Barclays on Tuesday the 8th. Let me start by saying I see a lot of concerts every year and was only familiar with the better known of The Killers songs. Having said that - they were EXCELLENT! Flowers is a magnificent front man with a set of pipes to carry stadiums. The band is flawless and so rock and roll. I will judge a band by how much they can hook me with a song I’ve never heard before . From the opening with Wonderful Wonderful and The Man thru The Calling start to the encore I was dazzled. I downloaded everything and I’m now a confirmed fan. I will see them again ASAP. One of the best live I have seen -ever. And I’m no spring chicken.

From the groundbreaking debut Hot Fuss , celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2024, to the band’s latest full length LP, 2021’s Pressure Machine , Rebel Diamonds showcases the group’s versatility and staying power across the ever-changing alternative music landscape.  The collection is made up of songs that embody who The Killers are as a band, additionally including some favourites of theirs that have resonated over the years - tracks like “ Be Still, ” from 2012’s album Battle Born or “ Dying Breed ” from 2020’s album Imploding The Mirage or “ A Dustland Fairytale ” from 2008’s Day & Age , which the band recently re-recorded and performed with Bruce Springsteen.

Thanks for contacting us. We've received your submission.

Killers singer Brandon Flower performs onstage.

We think you’re about to “Smile Like You Mean It.”

That’s because The Killers aren’t finished with their 2022 tour yet.

Brandon Flowers and co. just announced that they’re adding seven additional concerts to their ongoing “Imploding The Mirage Tour” in 2023.

On the extended run, the “Mr. Brightside” group will hit Atlantic City’s Etess Arena at Hard Rock Hotel and Casino on March 16, Uncasville’s Mohegan Sun Arena on March 17, Columbus’ Value City Arena on March 21 and Durant’s Choctaw Grand Theater on March 24.

Plus, the band will play a handful of postponed concerts from the 2022 leg of the tour.

While tickets for the newly announced shows don’t go on sale on Ticketmaster until Friday, Dec. 2, you can pick them up as early as today on Vivid Seats before seats are officially available.

Be aware that Vivid Seats is a secondary market ticketing platform, and prices may be higher or lower than face value, depending on demand.

They have a 100% buyer guarantee that states your transaction will be safe and secure and will be delivered before the event.

So, if you’ve always wanted to hear “Mr. Brightside,” “When You Were Young,” “Somebody Told Me,” and all the other Killers hits you know and love live, keep scrolling.

We’ve got everything you’ll need to know about the short tour below.

The Killers upcoming 2022-23 tour schedule

We’ve outlined all upcoming tour dates, venues and links to buy tickets.

See you at the Killers show of your choosing.

(Note: The New York Post confirmed all above prices at the publication time. All prices are subject to fluctuation and include additional fees at checkout .)

The Killers tour setlist

For Killers fans that don’t like surprises, we’ve got some good news for you.

The Las Vegas-based rockers have stuck pretty closely to the same setlist for most shows on the tour.

Rather than completely spoiling it here— but come on, you already knew “Mr. Brightside” was their encore— you can find what the group has been playing at each show on Setlist.FM .

The Killers new album

Want to brush up on The Killers if you haven’t heard much since 2004’s “Hot Fuss” and 2006’s “Sam’s Town?”

We recommend first checking out their 2021 album “Imploding The Mirage,” which inspired the tour. Made up of 13 songs, critics found a lot to like.

Pitchfork called the record “one of their biggest and best albums, a marvelously absurd collection of synth-rock gems and arena anthems.”

If you haven’t had enough, try their 2022 release “Pressure Machine.” Clocking in at 13 tracks, it’s a bit quieter and meditative than the bombastic “Imploding the Mirage” but also received praise.

“Brandon Flowers ably channels his Springsteen side on the band’s latest album,” Rolling Stone raved.

Huge rock tours in 2023

Next year is going to be a true doozy for rock fans.

With tour and festival headliner announcements coming in at a quick clip, we’ve sifted through the noise and found the five biggest tours you won’t want to miss in 2023.

•  Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band

•  Blink 182

•  Muse

•  Paramore

•  Metallica

Plus, let’s be honest. You won’t want to miss Taylor Swift’s mega “Eras Tour” either.

The Killers’ ‘Mr Brightside’ overtakes Oasis’ ‘Wonderwall’ to smash huge UK singles record

The song has become the UK’s official biggest single of all time yet to reach Number One

the killers uk tour 2023 tickets

The iconic Killers song ‘Mr Brightside’ has officially broken a huge singles record in the UK.

  • READ MORE: The Killers on the cover: “There are a lot of young people unsure of their place in this world”

As announced today (May 9) by Official Charts, the now-legendary 2004 track has taken over from Oasis ’ ‘Wonderwall’ to become the UK’s official biggest single of all time yet to reach Number One.

Released as part of their debut album ‘Hot Fuss’ , which was shared 20 years ago this month, the song didn’t go on to top the charts, but did end up becoming an unmissable part of British culture.

Initially it dropped in 2003 as the follow-up to the band’s Number Three charting single ‘Somebody Told Me’, and the synth-laden anthem peaked at a somewhat modest Number 10 slot on the charts. However, two decades on, has gone on to become the longest-running Top 100 hit in Official Chart history.

According to new figures from the Official Charts Company, it has been shown that with UK sales and streams of 5.57million – including 1.066million sales and 530,340,000 streams – the song is now the UK’s most successful song of all time yet to reach Number One.

It has also been shown to be the third biggest song of all time in the UK when sales and streams are combined.

Recommended

When it was first shared, it only spent a few weeks in the charts before dropping out, but fast forward to 2024 and the song has now spent 408 weeks (just under eight years) and counting in the Official Singles Chart Top 100 – holding the title of the most weeks on chart of any song in UK Official Chart history.

On average, it is being streamed in the UK around 1.8million times per week, and there’s no sign of it slowing, either. For example, 2023 marked the track’s biggest year of streams to date (79.97m plays), and for 2024, it is accelerating further still with average combined weekly sales and streams of ‘Mr Brightside’ up 23 per cent year-on-year.

Before then, the biggest week for ‘Mr Brightside’ was in July 2019, it clocked up 17,700 chart units after The Killers’ headline Glastonbury set . As for pure sales, 2012 marked the peak, when it was bought and downloaded 125,200 times.

“Thank you so much to all our fans for making ‘Mr. Brightside’ the third biggest song of all time in the UK, and the biggest ever not to have reached Number One; not yet at least,” the band told Official Charts, reacting to the news.

“This Top 10 Award means a lot to us, ‘Mr. Brightside’ has been completely embraced by the British public and we can’t wait to celebrate with you all on the road. Thank you for supporting us. See you soon!”

Martin Talbot, Chief Executive of the Official Charts added: “The success of ‘Mr Brightside’ is a triumph of extraordinary longevity, it is a song which has lived with so many of us throughout the recent decades of our lives – and, for some, an entire lifetime.

Brandon Flowers of The Killers performs at Glastonbury in 2019

“ Ed Sheeran is absolutely right to describe it as the UK’s alternative national anthem. And for this reason, among many others, it is a huge honour for us to have been able to present Brandon Flowers [frontman] with one of our brand-new Top 10 Awards in tribute to its legacy and impact. 20 years on from its first Official Singles Chart appearance, it is now the Top 10 hit that all other Top 10s can only aspire to be.”

Later this year, The Killers will be embarking on a series of festival appearances, including a slot at Mad Cool in Madrid , as well as a number of UK headline tour dates. The latter will come as part of the ‘Rebel Diamonds’ tour , and will see Flowers and co performing at 16 arenas, including four nights at Manchester’s Co-Op Live and six nights at The O2 in London.

Later this year, they will return to their Las Vegas hometown to celebrate their debut album with an eight-night residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace . The shows will see them performing ‘Hot Fuss’ in its entirety for the first time. Visit here for tickets to US shows and here for remaining UK tour tickets.

Back in December, Flowers spoke to  NME  about the future of The Killers and confirmed a new solo album .

Speaking about the history of the group, Flowers said: “We were always little different from the other Vegas bands back then because I noticed that there was this competition and rivalry between local bands. I wasn’t thinking about them – I was thinking about  The White Stripes ,  The Strokes , and  Oasis . I didn’t allow myself to get to  U2  just yet, but I asked myself, ‘What is it that these bands are doing and why are they not still in their hometown?’ That’s what set us apart quite early on.

He continued: “We were different, and we were ambitious. Ambition can be seen as an ugly thing to some people but it has served us well. We were able to persevere and it’s kind of unbelievable.”

Co-op Live arena

Olivia Rodrigo gigs called off as chaos continues at Manchester’s Co-op Live

Postponements come hours after queueing fans were turned away from A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie gig on Wednesday evening

The troubled Co-op Live arena has postponed Olivia Rodrigo’s concerts as part of her Guts world tour because of a “technical issue”, hours after the last-minute cancellation of its opening concert for the third time.

Two hours after announcing that A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie would no longer be performing, the venue confirmed that Rodrigo’s concerts on 3 and 4 May had also been cancelled.

Wednesday’s show was supposed to be the first official event at the 23,500-capacity Manchester venue, after several were cancelled or postponed in the past two weeks.

The venue said there was a problem during the soundcheck, with a component of the heating, ventilation and air conditioning system found to be defective.

The arena wrote on X: “Due to an ongoing venue-related technical issue, the scheduled performances of Olivia Rodrigo’s Guts world tour on May 3 and 4 are being postponed. Ticket-holders can either hold on to their tickets or obtain a refund at point of purchase.”

The Grammy award winner Rodrigo is expected to perform in Glasgow, Birmingham and London between 7 and 18 May.

A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie confirmed that “something happened” during his soundcheck that meant his show had to be cancelled. “I’m heated about the situation too, but safety first. Manchester, I got you, just stay tuned for further info,” he said on X.

His performance was cancelled at 6.40pm, 10 minutes after doors were supposed to open at 6.30pm. Fans were queuing outside the venue.

It is the latest in a series of problems for the venue. Rick Astley performed as a surprise guest to about 11,000 arena workers, VIPs and press for the free test event on 20 April, but as many as 4,000 tickets were cancelled , some just an hour before the show, leaving ticket-holders furious.

The venue said this was because of “testing critical procedures”, which meant it had to reduce the capacity for the event.

The venue apologised, and told ticket-holders they could attend a gig by the US rock duo the Black Keys a week later instead. The venue then had to postpone that gig until 15 May.

The arena also postponed two gigs by the comedian Peter Kay, who is now due to appear on 23 and 24 May.

Gary Roden quit as general manager of the arena last week over delays to its opening the venue, and after being criticised for saying some small music venues were “poorly run”.

The venue is part of the Oak View Group. Tim Leiweke, its chair and chief executive, said: “The safety and security of all visiting and working on Co-op Live is our utmost priority, and we could not and will not run any event until it is absolutely safe to do so.

“Today was a very unexpected situation but without a doubt the right decision. I deeply apologise for the impact that this has had on ticket-holders and fans.”

The Co-operative Group said it was disappointed by the announcement and would seek a “full explanation” from Oak View.

“As the naming rights sponsor for Co-op Live, we are shocked at the incident which has led to late cancellation of tonight’s show at the arena,” a Co-op Group spokesperson said.

“We are relieved that no one has been injured, but we share the disappointment and frustration of ticket-holders, many of whom are Co-op members, with the continuing delay to the opening of Co-op Live and the disruption that this is causing to everyone who has been looking forward to attending events.

“We will be seeking a full explanation from Oak View Group, who are responsible for the building, to the obvious questions arising from this, together with a clear plan from the Co-op Live venue management team at OVG for opening the venue and postponed and future events.

“Safety is, of course, the number one priority and it is critical that Co-op members and other ticket-holders can enjoy events in a venue with the very highest levels of security and safety measures in place.”

Situated on the Etihad Campus next to the Manchester City football ground, the £365m venue is scheduled to host Take That, the Killers, Eric Clapton and Barry Manilow in the coming weeks, and there are plans to hold the MTV Europe music awards there in November.
