Take tour car or rent a atv and drive up the mountain and stop wherever you feel like stopping on the way. I paid 870$ for seven people None of us felt like it was worth the money. Also I think we had a crappy guide whom we could not understand what the thing he was saying.

Not being able to hike I was thrilled at the opportunity to take a 3 hour took with Pink Jeep tours. Pink Jeep tours offers an assortment of tour packages but the one they recommended that you start with is the "Roaring fork" tour. Their office is located on the Parkway which is very convenient for people staying in Pigeon Forge or Gatlinburg. You are asked to arrive at least 20 minutes before your tour starts so you can use the bathroom or relax and look at their gift shop. Our tour guide Jerry called my group and we had a full house for our Jeep tour. I chose to sit up front with him which made my trip more comfortable. Note they advise you to put your phone in airplane mode since there is no reception along the way and you want to get some great pictures. Jerry spent some time as we made our way to the Smokies telling us about how Gatlinburg got its name, the highest mountain in the Smokies, and other fun filled stories as we traveled. He answered any questions we had such as my own-are there any other types of bears besides black bears there. The answer is no-don't expect to find a grizzly bear here. That led to the first part of the tour-we were in search of some black bears. My daughter spotted some in the distance but they were really too far to get a good glimpse. We traveled up a one lane only dirt road to see some cabins and got to stop off and visit one of them. Nearby was one of the many beautiful streams flowing water. You can just hear the water and feel so relaxed. Jerry took us to one of the prime viewing areas of the mountains for another photo op. It is a shame that much of the region had been subject to forest fires but still the views are breathtaking. Jerry gladly offered to take our picture both there and in front of the jeep. We passed through more beautiful streams of water, saw hikers and families until we stopped at a small dry goods store that had restrooms. We had a quick break to visit and back in the jeep again. Once we were out of the Smokies he drove us back to Pigeon Forge for the last segment-a fun filled bumpy ride down a steep hill!! I did like the fact that there is a drop off point for people who can't handle such a ride and he picks you up again. Hang onto your strap because everyone was pushed up towards the middle as we tackled bump upon bump. Afterwards we made it back to the office where we disembarked and graciously tipped him for all his hard work. One of the best things I like about this tour company is that they insure safety to all their guests being their number one priority. This definitely is a must do if you want a guided tour of the Smokie Mountains. Pink Jeep tours offer other tours as well so you can explore different places including one with a stop in North Carolina. I was so glad we had the opportunity to take this tour and thanks to Jerry who made us feel most welcome. Located on the parkway in Pigeon Forge across from Mel's diner, they have their own parking lot.

This was an amazing time!!The jeeps we're so cool and PINK!! The ride was breathtaking. Julie was our driver and she was AWESOME!! We stopped along the route a couple of times and seen some amazing views. The best part though, the off roading at the end of the tour.

We went on my 52nd birthday and I have always wanted a Pink Jeep, so we decided to try it out. We had a great time! Tanner was our guide and he made it so much fun and educational. He took pictures for us. I highly recommend it!!

One of the best tours I've ever taken!!! Katlyn was fantastic!!!! She brought us to great spots for spectacular views, adapted the tour based on weather to get better locations too. She knew so much about the area and history, and made the information personal with her own experiences of living in the area. She also took many photos of our group for us. And wow!!! She should seriously be a professional photographer!!! She knew every camera setting and angle and how to get the bets images. They are the single best photos from our trip! I learned some new phot tips from her along the way. After the tour, she took us off roading in the jeep, which was a blast. Overall, she (and the tour) were truly the highlight! This was worth every penny, and I would not miss out on the chance to do it again.

I was a little hesitant to spend $200 for a 3 hr tour, but we signed up. We were lucky to get Mike as our tour guide. He was kind and knowledgeable. I recommend asking for him if you tour the BEAUTIFUL smokey mountains with their company.

Left on time. Our driver Catlynn was a rockstar. Due to traffic we didn't get to stop at the landmark sign but she tried her best driving to other signs so that we can capture something No bear sighting on the tour but saw some wild turkey The views are second to none. Very informative as we drove through downtown Gatlinsburg. We saw some settlers homes, beautiful waterfalls and bridges. Highly recommended pink key tours when traveling to pigeon forge

Great investment if you would like a guided tour around the mountains. They offer several different types of tours and our guide advised they will be adding another next year. They are also very flexible. The next day was going to be a downpour so we had to fit two events into one day. They moved me the day before to an earlier booking time. Different tour but same length. I honestly think I liked this one better than the one I had booked anyway. Dennis was our guide and he was friendly and made sure to explain some of the history of the mountains and take pictures for me and the other couples on our tour. You can book a private tour but I love ppl so we took for the cheaper shared tour. When your done with the tour most of the options include an off road fun experience after which was my favorite part.

Had an incredible time on our pink jeep tour of the national park. The office location was minutes from our stay in Dollywood and parking was easy. We were the first tour of the day and the crew in the office was bright and chipper and welcoming. Our tour started on time and our host was Chris. Chris was informative and funny. He had more dad jokes than I thought possible in a three hour tour. His information regarding the flora and fauna within the park, the history and landmarks of the park, and his recommendations for various other activities to do in the area were so good that my daughter will be able to write up a report on the park for school with just the information he supplied and we went on a hike he suggested after the tour and it was perfect. Chris was also previously a photographer so he takes his Kodak moments seriously and will snap some great pictures with your phone. The tour itself is a great experience, seeing up close the natural beauty and history. We saw several sightings of bears and enjoyed getting out to walk around at a few locations along the way. Obviously they cannot guarantee bear sightings on their tours, but even without the bears, the tour is seriously great. I recommend you splurge for the private jeep for your party if at all possible and the earliest tour time will give you the best chances of no crowds/park traffic, most likely to see animals. At the end of our tour, Chris took us to a separate location for a rough road experience. (Off roading) it wasn't tame and you couldn't do it holding an infant or beverage in your lap. But it was worth it. Absolutely a fun time had by all!

pink jeep tour

We booked the pink Jeep Tours for a 9 AM departure, and our tour guide was Mike! He was extremely informative from beginning to end! He took the most amazing pictures of us with our cameras as well, and even created some pretty cool graphics for us! This is definitely a must take tour! We happened to be in the tour bus with other guests from Miami so that was fun as well since we are from Texas! There is so much to see and great pics too!

Pink Jeep Adventure Tours in Sedona, Arizona

Judy Hedding

In the 70s, Pink Jeep Adventure Tours in Sedona, Arizona was the only gig in town. Started in 1958, this tour service provides exciting multi-hour jeep adventures traversing on and around Sedona's red rock landscape. Pick your preferred destination, like Horseshoe Bend on the Colorado River , Antelope Canyon, or the Grand Canyon . Or crawl through rambling terrain with gorgeous panoramic views on the Broken Arrow Trail (an exclusive offering of Pink Jeep Tours). This particular tour also takes you on a thrilling descent to the Road of No Return. However, if you prefer a less rugged trip with more history or a mellow sunset ride, Pink Jeep Adventure Tours can arrange for that, too.

The Pink Jeep Story

Judy Hedding

Pink Jeep Adventure Tours is the oldest continuously-operating Jeep tour company in the United States. It was started by a Sedona realtor named Don Pratt who used to drive clients around to see homes at Broken Arrow Estates. After visiting Waikiki Beach's Royal Hawaiian Hotel, he returned to Sedona with the notion to start a jeep company using the hotel's iconic color as its trademark. Today, Pink Jeep Adventure Tours is most known for its Broken Arrow tour over the rugged desert red rocks. The tour is exclusive to the company, as it maintains and preserves the area's most photogenic route.

Preparing The Pink Jeeps

There are approximately 75 Jeeps in the Pick Jeep fleet, all outfitted with special tires, custom seats, and a head-turning pink paint job. It takes about five weeks to convert a regular, run-of-the-mill Jeep Wrangler into a Pink Tour Jeep and the fine-tuned maintenance schedule assures the vehicles are always in tip-top shape. Additionally, each tour guide is assigned their very own vehicle so that they are familiar with its operation.

The jeeps have comfortable padded seats, holding 6 or 7 people per vehicle. That means, if you don't have a full jeep's worth of friends, other folks may be joining the tour with you.

Jeep Tour Timing

Pink Jeep Tours depart every hour on the hour starting at 7 a.m.; the last tour of the day returns just after sunset. And while embarking on a jeep tour at any time of the day is delightful, there are some seasonal considerations. In the summer, hot desert temperatures make afternoon tours sweltering if there's no cloud cover. If you go out during this time, lather on the sunscreen and don't forget your water. Or instead, opt for an early morning or sunset tour for more tolerable conditions.

In the winter, desert mornings can be chilly. And in an open-aired jeep, there's not turning on the heat. Dress warm and in layers so that once the temperature rises, you can strip off for comfort.

Advance reservations are not required, but Pink Jeep Adventure Tours is busy all year long, every day of the week. Booking in advance assures you a preferred timeslot so you can arrange it around the desert's elements.

Jeep Touring with Kids

Sure—you can bring your kids along on a Pink Jeep Tour. But first, research your route to make sure it's suitable for children. Most Pink Jeep Adventure Tours can accommodate children older than 18 months, but that doesn't mean every tour is suitable. Tours through rugged terrain may make toddlers fussy and holding onto a little kid while being jostled back and forth could detract from your fun, too.

If you're traveling with little ones, it's also important to time your tour wisely. If an afternoon tour lands right in the middle of nap time, opt for a morning tour instead. And if your kids tend to get cranky during the late day, a sunset tour might not be the best pick. Remember, you may be sharing your vehicle with other tourists and a disruptive child may detract from their experience, too.

Pink Jeep Treads Lightly

Pink Jeep Tours believes in respecting and maintaining the environment for all people to enjoy for many generations to come. They are permitted to conduct commercial tours by the National Forest Service, the Bureau of Land Management, and the Department of the Interior. They support the "tread lightly" concept by raising money for the National Forest Foundation, organizing volunteer efforts to clean up and maintain the area's National Parks, and establishing a trail conservation team responsible for trail maintenance and rebuilding.  Additionally, each Jeep is outfitted with state-of-the-art emissions systems that are updated regularly in an effort to reduce the tour operation's carbon footprint.

Schedules, Tickets, and Directions

Pink Jeep Tours conducts trips every day of the year, except on Christmas Day. Tour rates range from about 50 to 135 dollars per person, depending on the tour and the customer's age. Because they grant refunds on cancellations, it's possible to book a last-minute tour even during the busy season, in the event someone cancels.

Pink Jeep Adventure Tours also make a great activity for a corporate outing. Or, call them to arrange a family reunion or a wedding with the red rocks of Sedona as your backdrop. Book your outing online or give them a ring.

Sedona is approximately a two- to three-hour drive from most locations in the Phoenix area. Take I-17 (Black Canyon Freeway) north to Exit 298 (AZ179) toward Sedona-Oak Creek Canyon. Then, take Highway 89 into Sedona.

Don't care to drive? Pink Jeep Adventure Tours now offers day-long tours  to both Sedona and the Grand Canyon which include pickup from the Scottsdale area.

Jepp Tour Tips

  • Pink Jeep Tours has exclusive rights to the Broken Arrow Tour meaning, aside from hikers and a few very brave bikers, you won't see any other people (or tour companies) on the trail.
  • The Broken Arrow Tour is for adventure seekers only.  If you have physical problems—like a week back, or neck—if you're afraid of heights, or if you're you are a very nervous passenger, select a gentler tour. Seat belts are required and the jeep is equipped with handles and bars to grab onto as the jeep maneuvers its way down rocky slopes. Sometimes it's so rugged, you can't even snap a photo!
  • The seats in the back of the Pink Jeep are the bumpiest, and the seat next to the tour guide in the front is the comfiest.
  • Don't forget a shade hat (especially in the summer). And make sure it's one that has a string that secures around your neck. Wear layers in the winter. Bring a bottle of water. And make sure your camera has a wrist or neck strap so it doesn't fly out of the Jeep.
  • Bring cash to tip the tour guides. Fifteen percent is a typical tip for a good experience. But if you had a fabulous time, don't be afraid to tip 20 percent. If you are short on cash, the office can add the tip to your credit card.
  • There are no bathroom stops on the two-hour Broken Arrow Tour. So, limit your water intake (only enough to avoid dehydration) and make a trip to the restroom before the tour leaves.
