The Tour de France pedals onto TV every July—showcasing the world’s greatest road cyclists. As in recent seasons, NBC Sports will broadcast this year’s event across NBC , USA Network, and Peacock .

Peacock is our favorite service for watching the race because it carries every stage live and on demand. It’s also the streaming home of the Tour de France Femmes and Vuelta a España.

Keep scrolling for a closer look at watching the Tour de France in 2023—including the complete schedule with channel listings.

What channel shows the Tour de France?

You can watch the Tour de France on NBC , USA Network, and Peacock . You’ll get the most live coverage from Peacock, which streams every stage and the daily Tour de France Pre-Race Show . USA Network shows a mix of live and encore coverage, while NBC carries select portions of the race—primarily an encore of the final stage in Paris.

Pro tip: To heighten your Tour de France viewing experience, download the official Tour de France mobile app on your Android or iOS device. The app comes with course maps, real-time stats, and live commentary.

2023 Tour de France schedule

This year’s Tour de France begins on July 1 in Spain before crossing into France on the third day. As usual, the 21-day route features a solid mix of flat to mountainous terrain. Two rest days break up the action before racers make their way to the Avenue des Champs-Élysées in Paris on July 23.

Data effective as of post date. Race times include Peacock’s live Tour de France Pre-Race Show coverage.

2023 Tour de France Femmes schedule

Just as the men’s tour wraps up in Paris, the Tour de France Femmes takes off from Clermont-Ferrand. This is the second edition of the women’s race and features an eight-day route ending with an individual time trial in Pau.

Data effective as of post date.

Best TV plans for watching the Tour de France

A Peacock subscription is the best way to watch the Tour de France. Starting at $4.99 a month, the streaming service provides live and on-demand access to every stage of the men’s and women’s races. You’ll also get daily pre- and post-race studio coverage during the men’s competition, plus race highlights and rider interviews.

If you’re only interested in the Tour de France, you can cancel your subscription after the final stage. Otherwise, Peacock’s cycling coverage doesn’t stop there. The service also hosts the Liège–Bastogne–Liège, Critérium du Dauphiné, Vuelta a España, and Paris Tours. It’s also home to the Summer Olympics , which features road race and track cycling events every four years.

Which TV providers carry the Tour de France

Besides Peacock, most TV services carry Tour de France coverage via NBC and USA Network. Our table below illustrates which popular providers offer the two channels.

How to watch the Tour de France for free

*CableTV.com utilizes paid Amazon links. Amazon.com Price; $47.99 (as of 5/3/23 11:30 a.m. CT). Read full disclaimer .

The most convenient way to watch the Tour de France for free is by using an over-the-air (OTA) antenna to pick up your local NBC station. Unfortunately, NBC doesn’t show a lot of race coverage—mostly encore presentations of early and late stages. But it never hurts having an antenna in your TV setup.

If you don’t have an antenna, most cost between $20.00 and $60.00. We recommend the Mohu Leaf 50 for its 60-mile range and slim design. But you’ll want to verify the distance of your nearest NBC station by entering your zip code into the Federal Communications Commission’s Reception Map Tool . That’ll help determine if you need a more robust antenna, which we feature on our Best OTA Antennas page.

Pro tip: To make up for every stage NBC doesn’t air, you can stream free race recaps on NBC Sports’ YouTube channel .

The 110th Tour de France will stream on Peacock and air on NBC and USA Network throughout July 2023. Peacock offers the best way to watch Le Tour because it streams every stage from beginning to end. It also carries the entire women’s race, which begins the same day as the men’s competition ends.

If you’re a cycling fan without access to fast and reliable internet, most cable and satellite TV services have NBC and USA Network. Those channels don’t show as much Tour de France coverage as Peacock, but you’ll still see the most vital moments of the race.

How to watch the Tour de France FAQ

Can you watch the tour de france on nbc.

Yes, some Tour de France coverage airs on NBC. But you’ll want a Peacock Premium subscription to watch every stage from start to finish.

If today’s date is between July 1 and July 23, you can watch the current Tour de France stage live and on demand via Peacock . Check out our complete Tour de France 2023 schedule for race start times and channel listings.

Is every cycling Grand Tour race on NBC?

No, not every race in the Grand Tour of Cycling airs on NBC. While NBC Sports channels and platforms televise the Tour de France and Vuelta a España, the Giro d’Italia streams on Max’s  B/R Sports Add-On .

What cycling events are on Peacock?

Popular cycling events featured on Peacock include the Tour de France, Vuelta a España , and Olympic cycling . Other major UCI World Tour races like the Giro d’Italia, Milan–San Remo, and Tour of Flanders stream on services like FloBikes and Max’s B/R Sports Add-On .

The Tour de France begins Saturday in Utrecht, and NBC has again released its online and mobile products to enhance viewers’ experiences. “We want this to super-serve the fan and be a one-stop shop,” Kevin Monaghan, senior vice president business development of NBC Sports and NBC Sports Digital, said of the application.

New for this year, NBC partnered with TourTracker, a leader in online race coverage, to create a product that will likely be familiar to cycling fans and has also been proven easy to navigate.

The desktop and mobile versions are exactly the same in terms of core features, and little has changed from last year. “We are always looking for ideas from customers, but there is just so much here,” Jack Jackson, vice president product development of NBC Sports said. “We are getting on that border of usability and not quite sure what the next phases of things would be, but we continue to look for angles.”

NBC gave VeloNews an early look into both the mobile and desktop versions of the application and from a live-viewing experience, the desktop version was a highlight for us. In the desktop version, the amount of content the viewer has access to on one screen is impressive. The viewer can see the live video of the stage as well as live GPS tracking of the peloton and breakaway on both a map and profile version of the stage and a list of riders.

Additionally, Amaury Sport Organisation (ASO), owners of the Tour, provides written play-by-play commentary during the stage. The mobile version only allows the viewer to see the live coverage, and not all of the other data at the same time. Even though the desktop version costs more, it is worth the price, considering the experience is better than watching on a normal TV, provided your internet connection streams video fast enough.

Screen size appears to be the limiting factor in the mobile version, but TourTracker founder, Allan Padgett doesn’t see it this way, “The web experience is meant to really be just a live experience, whereas we expect people to use the [mobile] app as a guide they are carrying around all day.”

NBC works closely with ASO to post results within minutes of the last rider finishing the stage, and new this year, the viewer will be able to get updates in real-time of riders abandoning the race and the reasons for abandonment. Also, included in NBC’s Tour de France live product are stage replays, photos (including the timing photo from the finish), commentary, and interviews after the stage has ended.

The short videos produced by NBC during the Tour are available without purchasing the application and can be found on the cycling page of nbcsports.com.

Online App: $29.99 (one-day stage pass available for $4.99) Mobile App: $19.99

2023 Tour de France TV, live stream schedule

NBC Sports airs every stage of the 110th Tour de France, including live daily start-to-finish coverage on Peacock .

NBC and USA Network will also air live coverage of the first week. Additional encores of each stage air on USA at 2 a.m. ET most days. All NBC and USA Network coverage also streams on NBCSports.com/live and the NBC Sports app. Complete broadcast information is here .

Peacock will also air daily live pre-race shows setting up each stage.

The Tour begins July 1 with the Grand Départ in Spain before crossing into France on the third stage.

The Tour covers France’s five biggest mountain ranges, including eight mountain stages and four summit finishes. The last summit finish will be the 15th stage followed by a rest day and the lone time trial, a 14-mile race of truth.

The Tour will not have a time trial on the penultimate day as it did the last three years. Instead, the 20th stage, usually the last competitive stage for the yellow jersey, includes five significant climbs.

This will be the first Tour since 2016 to include the two men who won the title the previous two years. That’s Slovenian Tadej Pogacar , who in 2020 became at 21 the second-youngest winner in race history, then repeated in 2021. And Dane Jonas Vingegaard , who went from a fish-packing facility worker to the top of pro cycling last year.

The most compelling storyline outside of the yellow jersey will likely be 38-year-old Brit Mark Cavendish , who is tied with Belgian legend Eddy Merckx for the record 34 Tour stage wins. Cavendish said he will retire after this season.

Paris will play host to the best athletes in the world during the 2024 Summer Olympics. The athletes will have the opportunity to compete in some of the most storied and historical locations throughout France, from palaces, museum complexes, Teahupoʻo, Tahiti, to soccer stadiums and the shores of the Mediterranean Sea.

While many of the venues for the Paris Olympics have an illustrious past, here are six locations that will help showcase Paris, and France, during the Summer Games:

Château de Versailles

A world-renowned cultural site, the Château de Versailles will welcome athletes, human and horse alike, during the Olympics for equestrian and modern pentathlon events. A temporary stadium will be erected on the Etoile Royale esplanade for jumping and dressage events, while a course along the Grand Canal will be set up for cross country events.

The Château de Versailles, a former royal residence, was originally constructed as a hunting lodge in 1623. Louis XIV renovated and expanded the palace, eventually moving his court to Versailles. During the French Revolution, the palace was largely abandoned, and it was not until 1830 that restorations were made to the location. The palace and surrounding gardens were designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1979 for its importance in government, art and science in France and it is considered one of the country’s most significant cultural sites.

The Seine will be a major hub during the Paris Olympics, hosting not only the open-water swimming events and the triathlons but also the Opening Ceremony. During the Opening Ceremony, approximately 10,500 athletes will travel along the Seine through the heart of Paris. It will be the first time in the history of the Olympic Summer Games that the Opening Ceremony will not be held in a stadium. The parade of athletes will end in front of the Trocadero, where additional festivities will be held.

In addition to the Opening Ceremony, athletes competing in triathlon and open-water swimming will begin their races in the Seine, from a temporary floating pontoon below the Pont Alexandre III bridge in Paris' western end.

Roland Garros

Rendering of Roland-Garros Stadium for the 2024 Olympics

Home to tennis and boxing during the Games, Roland Garros already has played host to some of the greatest sporting achievements in the nation's history. The French Open, one of tennis' four Grand Slams, has taken place on the grounds since 1928. The finals for tennis and boxing, along with other matches, will take place on the stadium's centerpiece, Philippe Chatrier Court. The principal venue of Roland Garros, the court is named after long time president of the French Tennis federation, who helped return tennis to the Olympics in 1988.

Grand Palais

Located in the heart of Paris, the Grand Palais is an exhibition hall and museum complex that will be transformed into a venue for fencing and taekwondo during the Paris Olympics. Originally constructed for the Paris Universal Exhibition in 1900, the building features ornate glass vaults and iron and light steel framing that reflect innovations from the period it was built.

Since its opening, the Grand Palais has been used as an exhibition site for art, sport and science. It has multiple spaces for art exhibitions and a science museum in the complex, as well as a history of hosting fencing and equestrian competitions. In 2017, the Grand Palais was used during the final stage of the Tour de France, when riders rode through the hall on the way to the Avenue des Champs-Elysees.

Stade de France

Image of the Stade de France in its track and field set up.

The national stadium of France is also the largest in the country, with a capacity of 80,698. Originally built for the 1998 World Cup, the stadium also has been a site of men's UEFA Champions League finals, Rugby World Cup games and the World Athletics Championship. Track & field will return to the Stade de France for the Paris Olympics, and the stadium will also host the Closing Ceremony. The stadium has not just seen athletic feats, but also major artists such as The Rolling Stones, Celine Dion, Beyoncé, Coldplay, Metallica, Prince and more.

Yves-du-Manoir

The 2024 Paris Olympics also will return to a site filled with its own history at Yves-du-Manoir. The stadium in Colombes, France, was the main location for the 1924 Olympics, when it was the venue for the Opening Ceremony, track & field, cycling and other events. The stadium returned to the world stage in 1938, when it hosted three men’s FIFA World Cup games, including the final between Italy and Hungary.

For the 2024 Games, Yves-du-Manoir Stadium will be home to field hockey, and new buildings constructed for the Olympics will be turned into the future home of the French Hockey Federation’s national training center.

What is the Route for the 2024 Paris Olympic and Paralympic Torch Relays?

The Olympic and Paralympic Torch Relays will serve as a spectacular show of teamwork and culture as the iconic Olympic flame travels through 65 French regions and territories before arriving in Paris.

nbc tour de france schedule

During the spring and early summer, the Olympic flame will be illuminating numerous regions across France and their overseas territories as part of the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Torch Relays.

The torch was lit on Monday, April 15 in Olympia, Greece, in commemoration of the Olympics' historical birthplace. It then began its journey to Athens to board the “Belem,” a three-masted ship that will carry the torch across the ocean to land in its first stop in France – Marseille.

From May 8 to July 26, thousands of people – from Olympic athletes to volunteers – will carry the torch through more than 400 towns across France and French territories until its last stop in Paris for the Olympic Games Opening Ceremony.

The history of the Olympic Torch Relay

The first torch relay took place for the 1936 Summer Games in Berlin, when the Olympic flame was first carried from Olympia to the German host city, according to the International Olympic Committee .

The torch is traditionally kindled in Olympia, in an event organized by the Hellenic Olympic Committee. The 2024 Olympic Torch Relay will have 600 torchbearers carry the flame across 41 towns in Greece until it reaches the Panathenaic Stadium in Athens, where it will cross the Mediterranean to start its epic journey around France, according to Paris 2024 .

Every relay is an opportunity to celebrate the history and culture of the host nation. This year, the Olympic Flame will journey past iconic sites, such as the Lascaux caves, home to hundreds of prehistoric paintings believed to date back up to 17,000 years ago; the archaeological site at Alesia, where Julius Caesar defeated the Gauls in 52 B.C.E; the palace at Versailles, built by King Louis XIV in the 1660s.

Torchbearers will also travel across the Atlantic, Indian and Pacific oceans to reach six French territories: French Guiana, New Caledonia, Réunion, French Polynesia, Guadeloupe, and Martinique.

Who will be participating?

A selected 10,000 torchbearers will participate in the Olympic Torch Relay, consisting of 69 team relays of 24 people. Each team is made up of champions, everyday athletes, volunteers, referees, coaches and more, who are members of the 34 Olympic and Paralympic Federations, according to Paris 2024 .

Stephanos Ntouskos, who won an individual gold medal for Greece in rowing at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, was the first bearer of the Olympic torch as it began its journey through Greece. The final torchbearer in Greece will be Ioannis Fountoulis, a silver medal-winning Greek water polo player from the 2020 Games, who will hand the flame to President of Greece's National Olympic Committee Spyros Capralos, who will then transfer it to the Paris organizing committee on April 26, according to Olympics.com .

The 1,000 torchbearers that make up the six Paralympic Torch Relay team relays will highlight groups deeply involved in the Paralympic Movement. This includes volunteers from the Paralympic federation, exceptional young para-athletes, all-star Paralympians, innovators using sport for social impact and supporters of those who are disabled.

The relays will capture the value of sport and teamwork in France, showcasing spectacular events, like skateboarding through Bordeaux, archery at Château de Compiègne and cycling around Mont-Saint-Michel.

“The Torch Relay is, above all, a human adventure, represented by the stories of each Torchbearer,” said Paris 2024 President Tony Estanguet, per Paris 2024 . “Be they athletes or sports enthusiasts, committed to their local communities or involved in meaningful community projects, the people we call the Forerunners represent the richness and diversity of our society. With them, the Torch Relay will be a wonderful moment of openness, transmission and sharing. ”
