- ABOUT TOURS
So, you’ve picked your destination, locked in those cheap flights and got your accommodation all sorted? That’s the tough part out of the way, now for the fun stuff: deciding what to do when you’re there! Flight Centre has a wide range of tours to suit every travel style, whether you’re an adventurous sort, a self-confessed foodie, a budding photographer or a history buff.
Top 5 reasons for touring
- Expert guides give you an in-depth experience
- Meet and create friendships with like-minded travellers
- Travel all around the world with many hassles taken care of
- Some places can only be seen on a tour
- Wide range of tours, including solo, group and luxury
Why book a tour
While you might think of tours as added extras, they can add another dimension to your getaway and often end up being holiday highlights. Tours allow you to get to know your destination a little better, immersing you deep within the scenery, the cuisine and the local cultures. You can tour by foot, boat, train, scooter, tuk-tuk, kayak or camel; there are countless things to see and hundreds of ways to get you there.
Tours are perfect for solo voyagers – with the added bonus of meeting like-minded travellers and forging lasting friendships – but are also fantastic for families looking to spend a bit more time together, or couples keen to explore the wider world hand-in-hand. Most tour groups are small enough so that you won’t get lost in the crowd, and can vary from a few hours to a few days.
Tour Companies
We've got a great range of tours on offer from the best in the business. See our full list of Tour Companies .
Where touring can take you
Tour providers exist to make the entire world accessible for everyone no matter their background. From the astonishing Egyptian pyramids and artwork in the Louvre, to the dazzling city lights and sights in New York and the stretches of seemingly deserted coastal coves in Thailand, there's nowhere in this world a tour can't take you.
In fact, joining a tour is sometimes the only way to reach a particular place, such as Antarctica or the Inca Trail in Peru. You don't necessarily have to be part of a large group, with many destinations reachable through solo and small group tours. So whether you’re travelling on a shoestring or a Champagne budget, you can always make your holiday that little bit more memorable by adding a tour to your travel plans.

Croatian & Eastern Delights
It was a great trip, slightly hectic, but we saw a lot of places. Dee was an excellent tour guide, patient, considerate and full of information on history of the places we visited. Tour Radar also was great to deal with, they made it easy to book, complete all information needed and reply promptly to any queries. I would happily recommend both companies.

Berlin to Venice (15 Days) (including Salzburg)
Best of Central Europe
I though the Intrepid tour was fantastic. The group leader did a great job in looking after us and providing us with good orientation in all the countries we visited. The only point that could be improved, was in relation to accommodation. In Prague, five people were placed in the one hotel with one bathroom and toilet. This is not really ideal, however, when we raised this issue, our group leader went out of his way to provide an alternate accommodation for my husband and I. I felt that this was really good and we were very pleased with the outcome. The other tour participants were great and I recommend this to anyone who is interested in a great holiday. Thank you Zsolt.
A Touch of Europe (11 destinations)
Europamundo run a couple of varying European loops so as expected every few days some fellow travellers finished their section of the loop and new travellers were added. Accomodation was good and centrally located when town trips were planned, or on the outskirts after a city visit if simply for an overnight and onward journey the next day. Day trip guides were excellent, tour guides great.
Berlin and Imperial Capitals
I took a train to Berlin as I was already in country. The driver met me on the platform as I exited the train. The hotels were superb as was the tour! Pedro was the guide on the first half and Leonardo on the second half. Both were great as well, very considerate.
Imperial Europe (Summer, 10 Days)
This was the 1st Trafalgar tour we did. We were unsure about being on someone else's timeline/pre-set schedule. This tour taught us that it was a great way to see the world. There was plenty of free time to hit the things a 2nd time or more in depth. We had great city guides but our tour mgr was just awesome - really made things fun
- €100 deposit on some dates Some departure dates offer you the chance to book this tour with a lower deposit.
Highlights of Eastern Europe (Start Vienna, End Vienna, 17 Days)
Enjoyed everything. I always take all optional tours, but i think it better if more optionals, especially dinners, were in the initial package. We stayed 2 nights everywhere, which was nice, and did have some free time, which i enjoyed by going to two Zoos. I would like to see zoos as an optional Trafalgar tour occasionally. Our guide, Paul, was exceptional, and took very good care of my roommate whe became ill. I especially enjoyed his little bag of lical bakery treats at several stops.
Eastern Europe Road Trip (End Warsaw, 13 Days)
Central Europe
It was great; we enjoyed it and the guide was great.
London to Rome Trail (Summer, Start Amsterdam, 16 Days)
Imperial Highlights (10 Days)
Me and my family took this tour with a wonderful tour director call Kate from Poland. The fellow passengers were of mixed nationalities and age from Australia, India, Singapore, Philippines, USA etc. It was a great value for money trip with lot of added hidden treasures included on the way which came as a very pleasant surprise for all of us. On our own I doubt if any one of us would have managed to see those places. The hotels were decent with relatively good food. Kate made sure that we had ample vegetarian food us as per our choice. The whole trip was never hectic with plenty of time for ourselves to spend with family. All the local specialist guides had good sense of humor and didn't make us feel like we were in a History Class. Over all a great trip and highly recommended to take with family or friends.
This was a great tour made wonderful by our tour guide Zdenka. She knew these countries so well, she wanted us to see everything possible and she made it happen! Our bus driver, Gaspy, kept us safe and on time. Would recommend this tour, you learn so much and the countries visited were so beautiful and welcoming. This is the first time that Globus gave us a couple small, quirky new hotels that were not comfortable. Please Globus stick to regular hotels that have great staff. if the hotels are far from city center please give us transportation there and back on our afternoons off whenever possible.
Highlights of Eastern Europe (Classic, End Vienna, 14 Days)
Wonderful way to see Europe. Staying 2 nights in most places gave us time to explore on our own. We had a great Tour Leader and Driver who made the trip so special. My absolute highlight was the UNESCO listed Wieliczka Salt Mine. It was an amazing experience that I never tire of telling people about.
What people love about Central Europe Tours
Very good tour , something’s we didn’t find out right until the moment. But, overall good tour.
I had a safe journey till the last day. The tour did not end in Munich as expected/informed earlier. Hotels should have ramp to ease carry our luggage. Ference was an awesome driver. Mika was a lovely girl that ensures everyone safely departs on the last day.
Saw so much in a short time! Ten countries in 15 days! Had a very busy schedule to accomplish all we did, but it was worth it. The activities were varied, with great optional excursions offered. This is my 5th tour with Expat Exlore ( through Tourradar) and it never faIls to amaze me how much value you get for your money.

Blinken to Meet With Arab Officials in Saudi Arabia About Israel-Gaza War
The U.S. secretary of state plans to raise the issues of hostages held by Hamas, a potential cease-fire, humanitarian aid and a long-term political solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

By Edward Wong
Reporting from Washington
Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken will travel to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on Sunday to speak with top Arab officials and try to figure out possible solutions for the thorniest issues of the Israel-Gaza war, including humanitarian aid, reconstruction and hostages, the State Department said on Saturday.
One of Mr. Blinken’s priorities on Monday and Tuesday will be discussing “ongoing efforts to achieve a cease-fire in Gaza that secures the release of hostages,” a department spokesman, Matthew Miller, said in a statement. He added that Mr. Blinken would underscore his belief that it is Hamas that stands in the way of a cease-fire for the Palestinian people, since the group is not budging on the hostage negotiations.
Saudi Arabia is hosting a three-day meeting of the World Economic Forum, and top Arab officials, including Mr. Blinken’s diplomatic counterparts, are attending. They include senior ministers from Qatar and Egypt, which have been the two Arab mediators in multiple rounds of talks over a potential hostage agreement between Israel and Hamas.
The forum’s website says Mr. Blinken will be in a half-hour public “conversation” starting at 12:45 p.m. on Monday, the final day of the conference.
American officials are pushing for Hamas to release about 40 of the 100 or more hostages it is holding in exchange for the liberation of many more Palestinian prisoners and a six-week cease-fire. U.S. officials say that would be the first step in securing a permanent cease-fire, and Israel supports the proposal. However, Hamas has insisted on a commitment to a permanent cease-fire, and many Arab officials, including in Saudi Arabia, have been calling for the same; those officials say that such a cease-fire should take place immediately.
Mr. Blinken and other top aides of President Biden have also been trying to push for a long-term political solution to the conflict. In their best-case scenario, they envision Saudi Arabia and perhaps a few other Arab nations agreeing to normalize diplomatic relations with Israel. In exchange, Saudi Arabia would receive advanced weapons and security guarantees, including a mutual defense treaty , from the United States, and a commitment for U.S. cooperation on a civilian nuclear program in the kingdom .
For its part, Israel would have to commit to a concrete pathway to the founding of a Palestinian nation, with specific deadlines, U.S. and Saudi officials say.
Before the war started last October, U.S. and Saudi officials were in intense discussions to reach an agreement on the terms of such a proposal. For those negotiators, a big question at the time was what Israel would agree to. Since the war began, the Americans and Saudis have publicly insisted that Israel must agree to the existence of a Palestinian state.
But Israeli leaders and ordinary citizens have become even more resistant to that idea since the Oct. 7 attacks, in which Hamas and allied gunmen killed more than 1,200 people and took about 240 people as hostages. About 100 of the hostages were released last November in a prisoner swap during a weeklong cease-fire. The Israeli military has launched attacks to eradicate Hamas from Gaza, where the health ministry says more than 34,000 Palestinians have been killed.
Mr. Miller also said on Saturday that Mr. Blinken planned to discuss “continued progress on climate change mitigation and the global energy transition” at one of the World Economic Forum events. The secretary also expected to attend a meeting of ministers from nations in the Gulf Cooperation Council, a regional organization, to talk about security coordination.
An Israeli official told The New York Times on Friday that Mr. Blinken planned to visit Israel while in the region.
If Mr. Blinken does go there, the topics he is likely to discuss would no doubt be the same ones on his agenda for Riyadh, including increasing humanitarian aid for the people of Gaza, a potential political solution in the form of a multicountry megadeal and the impasse over a hostage/cease-fire agreement. He would also probably discuss Israel’s plans for a major offensive in the Rafah area of Gaza, which Mr. Biden opposes.
The details of Mr. Blinken’s scheduled trips to the Middle East often change at the last minute . As of Saturday night, the State Department has not announced any stops beyond Riyadh.

Bread and bagels at The Works Cafe in downtown Portland. Photo by Aimsel Ponti
From New York-style boiled bagels to Montreal-inspired wood-fired ones, there’s lots of great bagels in southern Maine and several shops have the accolades to back that up.
In 2023, Bon Appetit named bagels from Rose Foods and Rover Bagel among the best in the country.
Two years before that, Food & Wine Magazine put Rover, Forage and Scratch Baking Co. on its list of best bagels in the U.S.
Whether you like yours toasted with cream cheese or as the bread for your breakfast sandwich, you can find plenty of styles and flavors from Biddeford to Brunswick.
BEACH BAGELS
The offerings at Beach Bagels include a French toast and marble bagel, and the cream cheese menu comprises spreads like strawberry, olive and honey walnut. Along with breakfast sandwiches, Beach Bagels has hearty breakfast options like omelets and pancakes. Best of all, you’re steps away from a beach stroll. Just don’t let the seagulls steal your bagel. Dutchman’s opened in 2022 as a pop-up housed at Nomad pizza in Brunswick’s Fort Andross building. It’s since become a permanent fixture there and uses the pizzeria’s wood-fired ovens to bake its bagels. FORAGE MARKET
Making bagels at Forage Market involves a two-day aging process. The bagels are naturally leavened with wild yeast starter and baked next to a hardwood fire. There are usually five flavors available, including sesame and garlic. Breakfast sandwiches (including vegan options) are available. Forage also has a location in Lewiston. Advertisement

MISTER BAGEL
There are 10 or so Mister Bagel locations in Maine, including South Portland and Falmouth. It all began with the Portland location, which was the first bagel shop to open in Maine. The late Rick Hartglass started Mister Bagel in 1977, and it is still a family business. Music fans will appreciate the breakfast sandwich menu, which includes The David Bowie (bacon, egg and American cheese), the Jimmy Buffett (egg with roast beef and cheddar) and The Lady Gaga (avocado, salt and pepper, with or without egg).
WHEN: 6:30 a.m. to noon Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to noon Saturday and Sunday WHERE: 599 Forest Ave., Portland. misterbagelforestave.com ______________
At Rose Foods, the menu varies depending on the day, but there are usually six to eight flavors available. For example, should you pop in on a Friday, you’ll find a poppy and onion bialy (a cousin of the bagel that is not boiled). Rose Foods also makes a number of bagel sandwiches, including the Classic Nova with Nova lox and the Classic Whitefish. Advertisement
WHEN: 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily WHERE: 428 Forest Ave., Portland. rosefoods.me

SCRATCH BAKING CO.
You haven’t lived until you’ve experienced the line of devoted fans waiting for Scratch Baking Co. to open, especially on weekend mornings. Along with the popular Maine sea salt, plain and other everyday flavors, Scratch has a daily special bagel. There’s honeyed rosemary on Wednesday and jalapeno cheddar on Thursday. Scratch is also famous, at least to locals, for its P-Cheese spread. It’s a pimento cheese recipe made with cheddar, mayo, roasted red peppers and seasoning and was passed down to co-owner and head baker Allison Reid by her grandmother, Mern.

THE MAINE BAGEL
The Maine Bagel is a drive-thru with several breakfast and other kinds of sandwiches available. With a bagel list that features egg and bialy among the standards, the family-owned spot is the perfect place to stop on your way to Pine Point Beach. The Maine Bagel really shines with a dozen kinds of cream cheese spreads, including raisin-walnut, lox, strawberry, cranberry-nut and bacon-chive.

THE WORKS CAFE
The Works Cafe is an institution on the edge of the Portland’s Old Port. It opened in 1990 as Bagel Works before it changed its name in 2002. The original shop in this regional chain opened in Manchester, Vermont, in 1988, and there are 11 locations around New England, though just the one in Maine. Gone are the ’90s-era banana-walnut bagels and cold pizza cream cheese, but The Works Cafe is still a reliable place to grab a salt, multigrain or cinnamon raisin bagel, among others. The menu also has bowls, sandwiches and smoothies.
WHEN: 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily WHERE: 15 Temple St., Portland. workscafe.com
