If you are taking a cruise you may be wondering which plug sockets will be in the cabin.

The below post details the plug sockets found onboard the cruise ships from all major cruise lines.

It’s important to know which plug sockets will be in your cabin as it’s likely you’ll need to bring travel adapters. Get the adapter I use here: Worldwide Travel Adapter

International Power Plug Adapter with 3 USB-C and 2 USB-A Ports, All-in-One Worldwide Wall Charger for USA EU UK AUS

EPICKA Universal Travel Adapter

The below table is based on inside cabins, higher-grade cabins may have additional sockets.

Cruise Essentials – Don’t Cruise Without an Adapter!

My favourite universal adapter converts UK, US, AU and EU sockets to each other. It also has 4 USB slots meaning that you can charge 5 things at once and comes with fast charging.

All Royal Caribbean cruise ships have at least 2 US plug sockets and 1 European plug socket per cabin. The newest Royal Caribbean ships in the Quantum and Oasis class will also have 2 USB sockets per cabin.

What plug sockets do Virgin Voyages cruise ships have?

All Virgin Voyages cruise ships have at least 6 USBs, 3US, and 1 European plug socket. Higher grade cabins may have extra plug sockets.

If you feel as though you may need more plug sockets you may tempted to bring a power strip or power cord. These are banned by most cruise lines and as your luggage is searched on embarkation, one should not be brought on board. To find out why they’re banned, check out this post: Cruise Lines Don’t Allow Power Strips – These are Your Alternatives

Alternatives to Power Strips

USB Charging Stations:  Charging stations do not usually include plug outlets but have multiple USB options. They are usually used to charge things like phones, tablets, and cameras. This is my personal favourite option and I’d recommend a charging station for most cruisers. They’re relatively cheap, small and work very well.

Multi Socket Outlets:  Outlet taps plug into the plug socket and are used to provide additional outlets, most of them include USB options. You may have seen either long or cube-shaped outlet taps which provide 2 or 3 extra sockets.

Outlet Adapters:  Due to the different types of outlets in different countries, outlet adapters provide different types of plugs, and may contain USB options. An outlet adapter may convert a US plug socket to a UK one for example and provide extra USB sockets. An outlet adapter eliminates the need for a separate adapter which you would need if using an outlet tap or charging station.

Power Banks:  This isn’t so much of an alternative to a power strip as just another thing that you can use to keep your things charged. I’d always recommend bringing a good power bank with you on your cruise, that way you can charge multiple things from the bank and only have to charge the bank up instead of multiple other items. There are many types of power banks and I’ve tried a lot of them over the years. At the moment I am using an Anker power bank which you can find on Amazon here, unlike other banks, it hasn’t lost any capacity as I’ve been using it:  Anker Power Bank*

Note: Some devices will have other names including power port, outlet extender, and wall mount but may still be used onboard as long as there is no surge protection.

Below are some examples of charging stations, outlet taps, and outlet adapters that would be allowed on cruise ships.

Your SeaPass lets you into your stateroom and doubles as your Onboard Account charge card. You can show your SeaPass at bars, dining, and other venues onboard when you'd like to make purchases. It can also be used to access to special areas of the ship if you are booked in a Retreat, Concierge or Aquaclass stateroom. You can view your balance and onboard purchase in the Celebrity Cruises App, on your in room TV (where applicable) or by visiting the Guest Relations desk. The credit card tied to your booking may be authorized for large amounts while you're onboard and will be charged at the end of the cruise.

New tech on the Celebrity Edge

More power outlets for your gadgets.

s we use more and more gadgets, our need for additional sources of power grows. The limited number of power outlets on cruise ships has been a problem for years. The Celebrity Edge helps to address these needs with additional outlets throughout the stateroom. The decorative power box shown above gives you access to two 110 outlets and two USB power plugs for smartphones. Additional outlets and USB plugs were bedside in our Celebrity Suite.

TOUCHSCREEN CONTROLS LIGHTS & CURTAINS

The Edge also features touchscreens to control lights, curtains, and your thermostat – with presets for morning, evening, and night.  In addition to the in-room touchscreen control, you can use your smartphone for more refined control of individual lights in your stateroom.  The touchscreens don’t provide individual light controls, which was a bit disappointing.

Your smartphone can even be used to unlock your stateroom door, although we found it more convenient to use the stateroom card.

LARGER ELEVATORS WITH TOUCH PANELS

Elevators have been one of the Achilles heels on ships. Who hasn’t waited for an elevator after a show only to have it open full of guests. The Edge hopes to minimize this problem with new sensors in the ceiling of its elevators. These sensors detects when it is full, and then it skips stopping at floors until space is available. These sensors weren’t working yet on our cruise, but should be working soon. The Edge’s elevators are significantly larger than on the Solstice Class ships. In addition, they use touch screens rather than individual buttons. By using a programmable touchscreen, prominent messages can help guide guests to the proper floor for port tenders or other special events.

EVEN THE TENDERS GO HIGH TECH

Celebrity Edge Tenders

The tenders on the Edge are sophisticated and pretty luxurious. With individual seats, air conditioning, and higher ceilings, the tenders are very comfortable. In addition they have multiple display screens for safety and port information.

SIMPLIFIED CHECK-IN

By encouraging guests to pre-register online, the boarding process on the Edge is much simpler. Suites guests are greeted as they enter the new terminal and taken to a special suites lounge. There you are asked to take a seat, enjoy a cocktail and continental breakfast until a customer service agent comes by to take your picture. Once that’s done, you can board the ship – no lines, no forms to fill out, no paper to take with you – just board the ship. You can go directly to your stateroom to drop off you bags and pick up your stateroom keys.

HIGH TECH THEATRE

Nowhere has technology been taken to a higher level than in the theatre. The stage itself juts out into the audience making performances more intimate. Behind the stage is a panoply of projection screens which provide backgrounds for performances  and can move as needed.  Plus the stage has all the bells and whistles – it can be raised and lowered, ropes and hooks from the ceiling allow aerial performers to show off their skills, a motorized water fountain rolls out for special effects, and a very powerful sound system are just some of the technological features which will dazzle guests.

With the Edge, Celebrity made a very intentional effort to revolutionize the cruise experience. Technology was one of the cornerstone of this effort. There are many other examples in addition to what we’ve covered here. They did a good job of integrating new technology to enhance the cruise experience for guests.

Do you love Celebrity’s sky suites but want an affordable cabin that is a little larger? We recently spent ten nights on a Southern Caribbean cruise in a Celebrity Equinox sunset sky suite in The Retreat and adored it. The sunset sky suite is a nice step up from a regular sky suite for a small upgrade price.

In this post, we will give you all the details about the suite with photos, including the bed, bathroom, balcony, storage, and technology, and have posted a video walkthrough to give you a better look.

Save For Later 4

The Equinox is a Solstice-class ship in the Celebrity fleet. Built in 2009, she was revolutionized in 2019 and is expected to go into dry dock in April 2024. With a capacity of 2,852 passengers, the Equinox is a mid-size ship in the fleet.

The Sunset Sky Suite

We stayed in stateroom 6305, a studio-style cabin of about 379 square feet with a combined sleeping and living area, including a separate bathroom and a large balcony. With a king-size bed and a sofabed, it sleeps up to four people.

Note that the photos below were taken before our stateroom attendant had finished setting up the cabin. It looked even nicer once he was done.

Door leading to cabin 6305, a Celebrity Equinox sunset sky suite.

Sleeping Area

The sleeping area has a comfortable king-size bed with premium linens, a comforter, and four pillows. If you don’t care for the pillows or comforter, no worries. Just ask your stateroom attendant for an alternative.

Equinox Sunset Sky Suite bed

Your bed is high enough off the floor to allow you to store your suitcases beneath it.

During the day, your bed will be made up with a decorative pillow and a runner at the foot, which will be removed each evening during turndown service. A piece of chocolate will be left on your pillow at bedtime, a nice touch.

On either side of the bed is a nightstand with a wall-mounted lamp above it. Two drawers are provided for your belongings. As this is an older ship, there are no electrical outlets at the nightstands.

If you use a CPAP machine , ask your cabin attendant to provide you with an extension cord for your CPAP, which they will tape to the carpet to extend to the electrical outlet at the desk area. Also, use one of your magnet hooks on the wall high above your nightstand to loop your CPAP tubing over during the day to keep it out of the way.

The bathroom has a single-bowl sink, a toilet, and a tub/shower combination with a shower wand. Bigelow toiletries are provided in large bottles, including body lotion, soap, shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel.

Equinox Sunset Sky Suite Bathroom 1 1

The bathroom has enough storage, with several drawers and shelves below the sink and shelving behind the side mirrors. A small tray on the counter holds complimentary cotton balls, cotton swabs, a shower cap, and lip balm.

Equinox Sunset Sky Suite Bathroom 2 1

The Celebrity Equinox sunset sky suite has ample storage, including a large closet for your hanging clothing (using a rod and a half). Ask your cabin attendant if you need more clothes hangers. As you can see, our cabin attendant loaded us up!

A second closet contains six shelves, one of which holds your room safe. Here is where you will find robes and slippers, compact binoculars, and umbrellas for your use during your cruise.

Equinox Sunset Sky Suite Closets

The closet door fronts have full-length beveled mirrors, which are a nice touch. Not only do they allow you to check your outfit before you leave your cabin, but they also make the cabin feel even larger.

Equinox Sunset Sky Suite mirrored closets

Your living area has a desk/bureau combination with four large drawers, perfect for two people’s clothing and belongings. Two shallow drawers allow you to store paperwork and small items.

Equinox Sunset Sky Suite desk area

Above the desk is a lighted mirror stationed above a kneehole area with a chair, which is where a hair dryer can be used. You will find one for your use during your cruise in one of the large drawers.

Equinox Sunset Sky Suite desk storage

On top of the desk is a gray leather folio that holds your first day’s newsletter, excursion tickets, informational flyers, invitations to events, and business cards for your cabin attendant, butler, and concierge team.

Equinox Sunset Sky Suite desktop

Being an older ship, Celebrity Equinox isn’t up-to-date on electrical outlets. The only outlets in the cabin are at the desk as shown below, two US 110V outlets and one European 220V outlet. There are no USB ports for your use.

Equinox Sunset Sky Suite desk outlets

Luckily, we had sailed on a Solstice-class ship before, so I packed a power adapter with extra outlets and USB ports.

If you sail on an older ship, I’d recommend you pack a non-surge power adapter . Don’t bring an extension cord or a surge-protected power strip because those will be confiscated at boarding.

A flat-screen TV is over the bureau and swings out to allow comfortable viewing from either the bed or the sofa.

Refreshment Center

A dry bar is nestled in one corner of the cabin with shelves and a cabinet above and two cabinets below. One cabinet holds your mini fridge, and the other cabinet has shelves for your use.

Inside the mini fridge are items for sale. You can ask your stateroom attendant to remove them, or you can simply move them yourself from the fridge to the cabinet next to it.

On the counter is a tray with an ice bucket, two wineglasses, and four complimentary bottles of water. Your stateroom attendant will replace your water bottles each day.

Equinox Sunset Sky Suite dry bar

Seating Area

A large plush sofabed allows for comfortable seating (and naps, which I can attest to). An adjustable table allows for coffee-table height or dining height, whichever you prefer.

Across from the sofa is a large porthole, one of my favorite things about this cabin. Next to it is a captain’s chair.

Equinox Sunset Sky Suite view 2

The Balcony

The balcony is long and shallow, furnished with one lounger, a lounger that converts to a chair, an extra chair, and a large table.

which has followed its construction from day 1 and has in its latter pages many many pictures.

Can They Make Me a Moscow Mule?

By starri , May 24, 2017 in Celebrity Cruises

Cool Cruiser

Dumb question I know, but I've been wondering this for a while, and I don't think I've seen it answered. Obviously not offered in Vintages, the Martini Bar, or World-Class, but what about at the Sunset Bar or in Michael's?

Also, Pimm's Cup, same question.

Yes to the Pimms in Michael's Club.

I was able to get a Moscow Mule at the World Class Bar on Equinox in December.

Yay! Thanks so much.

Ensemble Lounge or Passport bar (I forget) also offered them on Equinox. They now offer Ginger Beer on the ship which you need for the "mule".

Vineyardfan

The Martini bar, Sunset bar, Passport bar and Ensemble lounge all normally carry both ginger ale and ginger beer, so you shouldn't have a problem (as long as the bartender is somewhat knowledgeable).

so you shouldn't have a problem (as long as the bartender is somewhat knowledgeable).
I don't know about the knowledgeable part...I asked for a Paralyzer in a few bars on my March 2017 B2B Constellation cruise and they had no idea until I finally found a "knowledgeable" bartender midway thru my second cruise. I also asked for a Pain Killer during my 30 days on the ship and no bartender knew how to make one or the desire to google it.

Lived on these on Solstice last October! The barman in Ensemble Lounge made the best one ever. I would often stop by to get one, or he also worked at the Sunset Bar so also got them there during the day. I know Mast Bar also made them but w're not as good IMO.

I was able to get a Moscow Mule at the World Class Bar on Equinox in December.     Sent from my iPhone using Forums

Same for us...served in the copper mugs!

We're also on the Solstice. Do you remember his name?

I'm not really going on the cruise to drink, but I need a libation or two in evenings.

If you happen to find yourself on Qsine, they make a mighty fine version of the mule as well.

Can you get one on the classic package? They have become a go to of mine here at home!

What is a Moscow mule? Never heard of it.
Vodka, ginger beer, and lime juice. Usually served in a special copper mug.
Are they good?

margsipie

On the Solstice now and I've had several in the Passport bar

Dumb question I know, but I've been wondering this for a while, and I don't think I've seen it answered. Obviously not offered in Vintages, the Martini Bar, or World-Class, but what about at the Sunset Bar or in Michael's?   Also, Pimm's Cup, same question.

Never had a problem getting anything if they had the makings, even if you needed to explain how to make it.

I like them because they're not too sweet, and I really love the spiciness of the ginger. I don't really like sweet drinks, but I can do a Pimm's cup because of the cucumber and lemon.

OCA REP

I believe that when ordering more obscure drinks, or something that you might prefer to be made a certain way, you should know the ingredients and be able to communicate that to the bartender. I would not assume a bartender is going to Google a drink recipe. Perhaps a PARALYZER or PAIN KILLER are well known cocktails, but I have never heard of them.

We enjoy a top-shelf margarita made according to a recipe we enjoy at home. A friendly discussion with the bartenders at the Mast Bar and Michael's Club, along with instructions on the proper preparation, got us service with a smile... and a nearly perfect margarita each time.

Enjoy yourself!

The taste depends on the brand of ginger beer. There is Goslings, Bunderberg and Fever Tree to name the brands that they have had on board. Sometimes if you order one they may also use ginger ale. Fever Tree is rare. A 4 pack of 6.8oz bottles at the lowest price is about $5, available at Sur La Table for $8.

As with most drinks if you change the spirit it is a different drink. Use rum instead of vodka and it is a dark and stormy. That is usually made with Goslings Ginger Beer and Goslings rum. I prefer Kraken rum over the Goslings.

I hope not. Ginger ale is too sweet.

  1. Complete Cruise Ship Plug Socket Guide: Search by Ship

The below post details the plug sockets found onboard the cruise ships from all major cruise lines. It's important to know which plug sockets will be in your cabin as it's likely you'll need to bring travel adapters. Get the adapter I use here: Worldwide Travel Adapter. EPICKA Universal Travel Adapter. $25.99 $19.99.

  2. Electrical outlets on the ship

I also use a couple adapters to help with my power needs. 220 to 120 plus usb - Just make sure the device plugged into the 120 outlet is dual voltage or you will fry it. Expand.

  3. Plugs, Power Outlets and Sockets

There is a light duty electrical outlet in the bathroom meant for shavers, etc. The outlet will accept 2 prong American and Euro style plugs. Because it is light duty, it is inconveniently located high above the sink next to the light fixture. Here is a photo taken of the bathroom on Silhouette's younger sister, Reflection:

  4. Electrical outlets on Celebrity ships?

  6. Outlet configuration on Equinox

That's it. Nothing near the beds, just 3 outlets by the vanity and, on ships with a kettle, you lose the use of the one on the right - we relegate the kettle to the bottom of the wardrobe. All the S line ships have the same arrangement even the ones that have been Revolutionised - only the Suites have been upgraded to include USB ports.

  7. New tech on the Celebrity Edge

The limited number of power outlets on cruise ships has been a problem for years. The Celebrity Edge helps to address these needs with additional outlets throughout the stateroom. The decorative power box shown above gives you access to two 110 outlets and two USB power plugs for smartphones.

  8. Edge Electrical Outlets and USB

Cruise Lines "A - O". Celebrity Cruises. Edge Electrical Outlets and USB. Just saw a preview picture of the Edge and was interested to see they have a new selection of outlets in the room. As it is often asked I thought it would be helpful to post. This was from a standard Veranda Cabin.

  9. Electrical outlets

Posted March 2, 2009. On most of the Celebrity ships & staterooms I've been in there have been 2 North American style 110V gounded outlets by the desk as well as 2 European style 220V outlets. There might be a European style outlet under the bed but the lamps are plugged in there. The outlet in the bathroom is very low power and not useful for ...

  10. Electrical outlets in cabins on Beyond

On the desk there is: - 1 220v EU plug. - 2 110v USA / UK combined plugs (note the USA voltage!) - 2 USB-A ports. on one side of the bed there is: - 1 110v USA plug. - 2 USB-A ports. In the bathroom there is 1 USA plug 110v. Thanks very much, very helpful.

  11. Tour Of A Spacious Celebrity Equinox Sunset Sky Suite

Being an older ship, Celebrity Equinox isn't up-to-date on electrical outlets. The only outlets in the cabin are at the desk as shown below, two US 110V outlets and one European 220V outlet. There are no USB ports for your use. Luckily, we had sailed on a Solstice-class ship before, so I packed a power adapter with extra outlets and USB ports.

  12. Celebrity's Electric Plug Options/Types??

You need to let Celebrity know of your needs. The ship has two US 110V outlets and Celebrity medical team will arrange for an extension cord (illegal for you to bring on board) and any adaptors you might need for more than the two outlets they provide. If booked with a TA - call them. Otherwise - sorry - call Celebrity or the Captains Club rep.
