Prepare yourself for this tour with our Travel Prep-tips

Day to day program.

All distances are “approximate distances” of recommended bike tours. The tour details are barring changes, a.o. as a result of nautical, technical or meteorological reasons.

Day 1: Corfu/Corfu City (Embarkation)

Individual arrival by plane on the island of Corfu and subsequent transfer to the ship.  Check in on the Panagiota from 2 pm on. Dinner on board. Overnight stay in Corfu town.

Day 2: Corfu Island – Sivota | Sivota – Parga (aprx. 18 mi./28 km) | Parga – Island Lefkas

Cast off! In the morning we cross over to Sivota on the mainland of Greece. There our first cycle tour starts and leads us to Parga beautifully situated below a Venetian fortress which towers over the old town. Here the boat awaits us to take us on a long cruise to Nidri on Lefkas Island. On our way we pass a witty swing-bridge which connects Lefkas with the Greek mainland. You spent the night in the lively harbor of Nidri.

Day 3: Lefkas Island (aprx. 21 mi./35 km) | Sivota – Fiskardo

After breakfast we start with a short tour to a waterfall nearby Nidri. With a bit of luck enough water will tumble for us to have a refreshing swim. Afterwards we continue on quiet roads over the hills via Siyros to the picturesque harbor town of Sivota. Here we board the boat and cruise to Fiskardo on the Island of Kedalonia. Situated on the northern tip of the island, the harbor town enchants with its colorful houses and many cafes and bars along the lively waterfront promenade.

Day 4: Cephalonia Island (aprx. 25 mi./39 km) | Sami – Vathy

We leave Fiskardo by bike and climb an impressive mountain road on the west coast of Kefalonia, from which we are met by awe inspiring views over the Assos peninsula and the famous Myrtos beach. After the climb we turn inland and cross the island. Shortly before the end of the bike tour we visit the Melissani stalactite cave on board a small row boat and marvel at the incredible blue tones created by the unique cave formations, sun and water. In Sami the boat welcomes us and once on board, sets off for Vathy on Ithaka.

Day 5: Island of Ithaca (aprx. 13 or 17 mi/20 or 28 km)

In the morning we cycle on the Ithaca Island. The homeland of the mythical king Odysseus, is a hilly island with a beautiful landscape. On today’s cycle route we can enjoy the typical character of the Ionian Islands away from the beaten tourist track: gnarled olive trees, crystal clear water and friendly islanders – time appears to stand still on Ithaca. Decide for yourself, if you are up for the challenge of a true hill climb, or, if you would prefer the leisurely alternative of a panoramic ride at half the height. The Panagiota awaits our arrival in Frikes before setting off to the small island of Meganisi.

Day 6: Islands of Meganisi and Paxos (aprx. 10 mi/17 km)

Meganisi is a tiny island with lots of charm, which we explore in the morning by bicycle. The panoramic tour takes us along lonely island roads and through the three villages of the island, which give us a good impression of the traditional island life of the Greeks. At Spartochori beach we can enjoy a coffee and a swim in the sea. In the afternoon we sail to Paxos Island, whose unique natural harbor in Gaios creates a special island atmosphere. We can spend the evening in one of the cozy taverns of Gaios.

Day 7: Islands of Paxos and Corfu (aprx. 14 mi./23 km) | Paxos – Corfu town

Paxos, the smallest of the seven Ionian Islands is a grove of olive trees, which gives the island its wonderful silver green color. On today’s cycle trip we circle the island. We can have our last swim in the Mediterranean on one of the many beaches. After lunch, the Panagiota will take us back to Corfu, where we will end our journey with a dinner and a cosy get-together on board.

Day 8: Corfu / Corfu City (Disembarkation)

After breakfast, check-out and individual return home or extended stay in Greece.

Your tour guide informs you each day about the tour details. Helmet use is mandatory on all cycle tours. You are strongly encouraged to bring your own (well-fitted) helmet. Cycle helmets are available on board in limited number (on request). You are free to set aside a half or full day to swim or spend on board the boat, instead of taking a planned cycle tour.

Fabulous trip!

Luann oshea.

Fabulous trip!! Beautiful scenery, great ride, exceptional service!

Thank you very much for your kind review! We are delighted that you enjoyed our tour. Hopefully, we can welcome you on board again soon. Best wishes, Boat Bike Tours.

First time in the Greek Ionian Islands

Last week I had the pleasure of being guided around the Ionian Islands on an ebike through Island Hopping. Although my guides, Kostas & Isabell, weren’t responsible for the fantastic weather, they were responsible for our safety, comfort and enjoyment, and they both pulled that off wonderfully! They knew their stuff and how to motivate us and keep us together. Their charm and energy were contagious! The crew also saw to it that we had fantastic, abundant food, and plenty of opportunities to swim in the sea. They even kept us out of harm’s way during a storm or two. Make sure you choose a bike and tour that’s right for you. Our lovely boat the Panigiotta was in a league of its own and the star attraction whenever we pulled into the harbor. I loved living on the boat, but be aware that your cabins will be very small – you might want to compare the different options available and pack light.

Hi Julie, We are incredibly grateful that you took the time out to share your feedback with us. Customer satisfaction is our top priority and we are thrilled that you enjoyed your experience on board of the Panigiotta– it means a lot to our entire team! We look forward to welcoming you back on board. Best, Romy

The Panagiota is an affectionately restored two-masted motor yacht. She has six cabins below deck and four cabins above deck, all of which have a small bathroom, air conditioning and are equipped with a French bed. Some have an extra bunk bed, what means a great accommodation for a family vacation. In the spacious and typical Mediterranean styled saloon there are tables and chairs where you can enjoy breakfast and dinner and sit and relax when it’s a little chilly outside. But you will probably spending most of your time – when not cycling – on the rear deck or spacious sun deck.

Often, our guests want a more personal approach to our bike tours, choosing to have a group tour with their family or friends only. We pride ourselves on being able to fully customize our tours to the needs of our guests – from start to finish.

We understand that not everyone is at the same skill level or fitness level, so we offer multiple cycling tours to choose from so you feel comfortable and safe while you ride.

Stamatis and the 2 Georges offer a fantastic experience at S-bikes. Rode solo for 5 days on the off road trails and had a great time. Just before I was due to leave Stamatis and George organized a tour on the west side of the island and it was the highlight of the stay. Trails you would never come across unless you were on a bike, fantastic views and a chance to see parts of Corfu hidden from the beaches.

S-bikes offer something for everyone, for a days adventure try the organized tours to the top of the mountain, for experienced riders, plenty of off road trails and downhills to put a smile on your face and for the road riders, plenty of climbs and fast sections. Great service and a good selection of bikes, plus the guys are super friendly.

Fantastic day out. I went for the harder of the routes that s-bikes offer and it was a great way to see pays of the island that you wouldn’t find on your own and single tracks and fire roads that you wouldn’t even think about unless on a MTB outing. Great day, great tour guide, fantastic views. Especially old Perithia and Mount Pantokratoras. My thanks to George, especially.

bike and boat tours corfu

We were a family of 4 with 2 teenagers and we took the easy cycling tour down Pantokrator mountain with our guide George. We were first driven up to the peak to see the view of Albania, then started at 800m and road downhill ending in Archavi. Very pleasant tour through olive groves and cycling through small villages on the way down.

A highly recommended activity to do with teenagers who enjoy cycling.Staff at the shop (another George) was friendly and very helpful. Stamatis answered my emails and accomodated us on the day we preferred.

bike and boat tours corfu

Our cruise ship had docked in Corfu for the day and we took a tour through the ship in conjugation with this group. The tour lasted about 5 hours, and the biking was all on the asphalt road. I went with my 57 year old dad and both of us are in good shape, so the overall feel for us was good since the uphill was a bit challenging.

For less experienced cyclists, the tour is still ideal since the uphill doesn’t last long and there is an optional extension to a small church at the top of a climb (views recommended). The scenery is very rewarding and the guides are excellent.

bike and boat tours corfu

Joined a group of five for a mountain bike tour and had a great ride. I’m mainly a road cyclist so mountain biking made an interesting change.

Taken to the top of the mountain by car then enjoyed a varied descent – quite technical and a lot of varied surfaces. Tremendous views and plenty off road. Good quality bikes and George, our guide, was very friendly and informative.

Highly recommended.

bike and boat tours corfu

We recently did the s bike tour and absolutely loved it, it was the highlight of our trip. My dad and i wanted a way to see the island and this tour delivered. It takes around 5 hours from start to finish which includes the 20 minute drive up the mountain to the starting point. The guide was excellent, the views were incredible and the staff were extremely friendly.

We did the beginner tour which was mostly downhill. We saw Mount Pantokrator, got to drink fresh mountain water and visit a 500 year old olive press. Well worth doing with all the family if you have teenagers.

Important information

Due to our international audience all Islandhopping tours are conducted bilingually, in English and German.

We reserve the right to make changes to the planned itinerary due to changing wind and weather conditions as well as organizational requirements. Should it be the case for example that the harbours on the above mentioned tour sequence are overcrowded, the tour will be operated in reverse.

Level 2 - 3

Participants require a relatively high level of fitness for this tour. The daily routes vary in length 12 - 25 mi/20 - 40 km and lead through hilly or mountainous terrain. The tours can be completed without any time constraints. The cycle tours range between a total of 1,000 – 2,970 ft./300 - 600 m of elevation. There are also some extended climbs where walking your bicycle is of course permitted. Most of the roads are asphalted and rarely frequented. Your tour guide will inform you each day about the tour details. You are free to set aside a half or full day to swim or spend onboard the boat, instead of taking a planned cycle tour.

On our regular cycling tours the riding pace is determined by the cyclists on regular bicycles. We ask guests who have reserved an e-bike to be mindful of this and to acknowledge that also the regular cyclists need time to rest and longer to climb the hills. Thank you for your understanding.

Helmets are mandatory on our bike tours. It is advised to bring your own, well fitted, helmet with you as our rental helmet numbers are limited (reservation required).

We believe that only children with a good physical condition and previous bicycle tour experience and a minimum age of 10 are able to master the cycle tours ith their own strength. Please note that the minimum height for a rental bike is 1.30 m (4.3 ft.) for hybrid bikes.

For the best tour experience with children, we recommend our Multi-Adventure tours in Croatia or Greece. We are convinced that these itineraries provide the best all-round experience for each individual family member when travelling as a family.

The tour which you have booked requires a bike with a fully functional set of gears. Islandhopping can offer you high quality, fully serviced rental bikes perfect for the terrain of this tour.

Should you however wish to bring your own hybrid bicycle with you, please make sure to check the condition of your breaks, gears, and tires and don’t forget to bring along a puncture repair kit and the essential spare parts for your bike (e.g. brake pads and spare tubes). Your bike should be in prefect mechanical working order.

We do not allow private e-bikes on board of our boats. This decision has been made due to health and safety regulations. If you wish to ride an e-bike for the duration of your tour, please get in touch with us about the rental options.

We do not recommend bringing along private road bikes, as the thin tires are not suitable for some of the road surfaces encountered on the tours.

Liability disclaimer: Radurlaub Zeitreisen GmbH. Will not be held liable for any damages caused to private bikes during loading, unloading or other logistical handling thereof.

Please do not forget that the ship is your hotel as well as a machine, which has to be maintained and operated – day and night. A certain level of noise is therefore inevitable.

The Panagiota does not offer a WiFi connection. If you need to connect to the internet during the tour, we recommend to take your portable electronic device to a cafe or bar somewhere in the harbour. Free WiFi is on offer almost everywhere. If you order something to eat or drink, then you are able to use the WiFi to your hearts content.

What Our Guests Have To Say

Outstanding trip with two informative and friendly guides.

Very enjoyable holiday. The guides (*** and ***) were excellent.

A fabulous trip - the crew were amazing -both boat and tour guides, the food provided was delicious and plenty - and overall service was fantastic. my one improvement would be less bottled water: guests can bring their own water bottles and could also purchase a reusable one once there (or include reusable bottles in package as souvenir)

The crew on board Pangiota was exceptional!

Ionian Islands on Bike & Boat

Hellas shows her greenest side in this lovely tour of the Ionian Islands, off the west coast of Greece:  nature, crystal clear shimmering sea and centuries of Venetian influence dominate the archipelago. Corfu, the dream island of the unforgettable Austrian empress Sissi, is the starting point of this journey, which leads us to regions which are not very well known abroad. We’ll discover the island of Ithaca, which is said to have been the home of Ulysses’ Odysseus; the incredible bird sanctuary island of Lefkas; the wonderful mountain world of Cephalonia; and the beautiful olive woods of the small island of Paxos. Enjoy your stay on board the wooden motor yacht Panagiota and let yourself be whisked away, sampling the excellent, rich Greek cuisine and coziness of the ship!

Day 1:  Corfu Town – Embarkation

Individual arrival and subsequent transfer to ship. Check in is available on the Panagiota , your ship and home for the week, starting at 2 pm. Dinner is served on board. Overnight stay in Corfu town.

Day 2:  Corfu Island – Sivota – Parga – Lefkas Island – 18 miles / 28 km

In the morning we’ll cross over to Sivota, on the mainland. Our first cycle tour leads us to Parga, found below a Venetian fortress. The boat awaits us in Parga to take us on a cruise to the town of Nidri on Lefkas Island. En route we pass a swing-bridge which connects Lefkas with the Greek mainland. You’ll spend the night in the lively harbour of Nidri.

Day 3:  Lefkas Island  – 25 miles / 39 km

Today first we’ll travel from Nidri to a nearby waterfall. If you’re lucky it will have enough water for a refreshing morning swim. Next we’ll cycle along quiet roads through the mountains past Sivros to the harbour in Vasiliki. We anchor at Porto Katsiki, one of the most famous beaches in Greece. Then the ship brings us to Fiskardo on Cephalonia, where we’ll spend the night. This harbor town enchants visitors with its colorful houses, numerous cafés and bars along the picturesque promenade.

Day 4:  Cephalonia Island – 25 miles / 39 km

Day 4’s cycle tour leads us from Fiskardo to an impressive mountain pass on the western side of the island. We’ll have amazing views, a panorama down to Myrtos beach, its white pebbles and electrifyingly clear water. After a refreshing break we continue cycling. We may visit the Melissani limestone caves featuring stalactites and stalagmites, which can be viewed from row boats. Later in the afternoon we’ll cruise to Vathy on Ithaca Island.

Day 5:  Ithaca Island – 13 – 17 miles / 20 – 28 km

Today the famous island of Ithaca awaits us, the homeland of Odysseus. It’s hilly and features a beautiful landscape. Gnarled olive trees, crystal clear water and friendly locals – time seems to stand still away from the busy touristic routes. You’ll have to decide if you’re up for a steep climb and a bit of a challenge, or a more leisurely ride. From Frikes the Panagiota takes us to the small island of Meganisi.

Day 6:  Islands of Meganisi and Paxos – 10 miles / 17 km

Meganisi has got lots of charm, we’ll spend the morning exploring it by bicycle. There are three villages on our itinerary today, showing us the traditional island life of Greece. Spartochori beach is great for a swim and a coffee break, and in the afternoon we’ll sail to Paxos Island, featuring a unique natural harbor, Gaios. We can spend the evening in one of the cozy taverns of Gaios.

Day 7:  Islands of Paxos and Corfu – 14 miles / 23 km

We’ve saved the smallest of the seven Ionian Islands for last; Paxos is a grove of olive trees, giving the island its wonderful silver green color. We circle the island, have our last swim in the Mediterranean on one of the many beaches and after lunch we travel back to Corfu. Dinner is served on board, our last evening together in a cozy atmosphere with crew and tour guides.

Day 8:  Corfu town – Disembarkation – End of trip or extension

After breakfast, check-out and individual return home or extended stay in Greece.

Itinerary changes We reserve the right to make changes to the planned itinerary due to changing wind and weather conditions as well as organizational requirements.

Level 3 The cycle routes require an advanced level of fitness from the participants. The daily routes have a length of 12 – 31 mi./20 – 50 km. They lead through hilly or mountainous areas and will be completed without any time-constraints. The cycle tours will take us up to 1,000 – 2,300 ft/300 – 700 m of elevation. There are also some extended climbs where walking your bicycle is of course permitted. Most of the roads are asphalted and rarely frequented.

Children We believe that only children in a good physical condition and with a minimum age of 10 and previous bicycle tour experience are able to master the cycle tours on their own strength. Please note that the minimum height for a rental bike is 1.30 m (4”3’).

Catering The on-board chef is a member of the crew and prepares the breakfast and one or two warm meals a day. The catering starts with the dinner on the arrival day and ends with the breakfast on the departure day.

Internet availability The Panagiota does not offer a WiFi connection. If you need to connect to the internet during the tour, we recommend to take your portable electronic device to a cafe or bar somewhere in the harbour. Free WiFi is on offer almost everywhere. If you order something to eat or drink, then you are able to use the WiFi to your hearts content.

Language Due to our international audience all tours are conducted bilingually, in English and German.

Own bicycles Please be aware, that we have a weight limit of 22 kg (48.5 lb), if you bring your  own bicycle/e-bike on board of one of  our boats. This limit is important to protect the health of our guides/crew members,  than they have to lift the bikes on board. If we consider it necessary, we will check the weight of the bicycle/e-bike on site. If the weight limit is exceeded, we reserve the right to refuse taking the bike on board.

Luggage Advice Please bring your personal belongings in foldable travel bags. Please avoid hard protective cases. They will be too heavy to store within your cabin. Our ships Please do not forget that the ship is your hotel as well as a machine, which has to be maintained and operated – day and night. A certain level of noise is therefore inevitable.

Prices & information

The price of a charter depends on many things. The beauty of the tours that we offer is that they are fully customizable. We can add extra services such as special bikes, extra meals or we can organize visits to the highlights of the region where you cycle that are not included in the program. That all affects the price. You can request a quote here for a trip of your choice. Our team of specialists will assist you to choose the right ship and itinerary or design a customized program for you.

They cover the island in a wonderful silver-green shimmer. The natural harbor of Gaios is unique and provides a special atmosphere during our stay here. Perfect balance for families

We went on this tour at the end of a long summer travel, and it was the perfect balance of adventure and relaxation for our family. Our guides, Tina and Niovi were absolute pros - warm, available, generous and skilled. The level of exertion was just right for our healthy but not super fit family - we got close to our limits for vacation but never felt pushed too far and therefore ended up feeling improved without feeling depleted. The delicious and generous shared meals are served family style so there was plenty of opportunity to socialize with the other guests, and we were lucky to have similar age kids on our trip. The boat is absolutely "ship-shape", in great condition and well maintained and the captain and crew work hard to make it the most comfortable experience possible. They warned us in advance when we might expect swells, and even those days were delightful sailing so I am sure they timed and charted the course for our benefit.

The best way to explore!

The tour was better than we could ever have imagined. The crew and guides were professional, hospitable and made the tour even more fun.

Join us on a fascinating journey! On this Bike & Boat tour we explore both the Greek mainland with the impressive islands of the Ionian Sea. Along the way we get a first-hand experience of the scenic and cultural diversity in Greece as we travel by bike and on board the two-masted motorized sailing boat, the Panagiota.

The Ionian Islands show Greek at its greenest, unspoiled scenery and centuries of Venetian influence characterize this yet little-known archipelago. The glistening blue waters of the Ionian Sea, the mountainous landscape of Ithaca, the bird-sanctuary island, Lefkas, the mini-island of Meganisi and the small island of Paxos covered in olive groves all play part in a wonderfully relaxing vacation. Famous sites such as Delphi and Aegina are just some of the highlights of the tour. The passage through the Corinth Canal is sure to become an unforgettable memory.

This cycling trip is also offered from Corfu to Athens!

Daily Program

bike and boat tours corfu

Individual arrival at Marina Zeas harbor. Check in on the Panagiota from 2 pm. Dinner on board. Overnight stay in the harbor of Marina Zeas.

bike and boat tours corfu

In the morning we sail to Aegina, the famous pistachio island. Here our first cycle tour takes us to the excellently preserved temple of Aphaia, which lingers high above and scouts over the lucent sea. In the afternoon we sail with the Panagiota through the Isthmus of Corinth, which was completed in 1893. Julius Caesar had already plans for its construction. This 3.9 mi./6.3 km long but only 79 ft./24 m wide and 26 ft./8 m deep canal connects the Aegean Sea with the Gulf of Corinth and saves travelers sailing from Athens to Corinth the aprx. 258 mi./400 km long trip around the whole Peloponnese. If weather conditions are fine, the cruise continues to Galaxidi, otherwise overnight stay in or near Corinth.

bike and boat tours corfu

In the morning a transfer picks us up at Galaxidi and takes us to the famous site of Delphi, which rests at the foot of the Parnassus mountain range. Apollo, the god of the light, was once worshipped here and the oracle consulted. Not only the many temples and treasuries, the well-preserved theatre and the stadium, but mainly the breath-taking hillside location of the sanctuary makes the visit to Delphi an unforgettable experience. In the afternoon, the bus will bring us to the harbour of Nafpaktos where we have time for lunch and a short stroll through the wonderful town before another short bus ride brings us finally to Mesolongi. The boat meets us here and we stay the night.

bike and boat tours corfu

In the morning, a longer crossing takes us to Ithaca. If the weather is good, guests can take a swim break on the way before docking at the port of Vathy. In the afternoon we explore the legendary Ithaca by bike. Ithaca is a mountainous, scenic island where you can enjoy the unique charm of the Ionian Islands away from the tourist crowds. Beautiful olives, deep blue sea and friendly locals – on Ithaca, time seems to have stood still. Spectacular views await you on this round trip! Overnight stay in Vathy.

bike and boat tours corfu

During breakfast we cross the sea to Meganisi. Our bike tour takes us along a panoramic route on quiet island roads through the three villages of this lovely island and gives you a good impression of the traditional island life of the locals. At the beach of Spartochori, we have time for a coffee and swimming break. In the afternoon, the journey continues to Nidri on Lefkas, where guests have the opportunity (if desired) to cycle through rustic olive groves to the hidden waterfall of Nidri. Overnight stay in Nidri.

bike and boat tours corfu

Today’s bike tour leads through the impressive mountains of Lefkas to the island capital of the same name. On the way you can enjoy spectacular views before enjoying a well-deserved coffee in the mountain village of Karia. In the town of Lefkas, the Panagiota awaits us for a longer crossing to Paxos, during which you have plenty of time to relax. You can spend the evening in one of the cozy taverns in the unique natural harbour of Gaios.

bike and boat tours corfu

Paxos, the smallest of the seven Ionian Islands is a grove of olive trees, which gives the island its wonderful silver green colour. On our morning cycle trip we circle the whole island. We can also have a swim in the Mediterranean on one of the many beaches. In the afternoon the Panagiota takes us to Corfu. The last evening aboard includes the communal dinner and a last get-together in a cozy atmosphere with crew and tour guides.

After breakfast check-out; individual return home or extended stay on the Corfu island.

Cycling in Greece

Gulf of Corinth & Ionian Islands

Participants require a high level of fitness for this tour. The daily routes vary in length: 12 – 31 mi. (20 – 50 km). They lead through hilly and mountainous terrain. The tours can, however, be completed without any time-constraints. The cycle tours will have an altitude of 1,000 – 2,300 ft. (300 – 700 m). Participants will also need to master long and steep climbs, during which, of course, bikes can be pushed. Most of the roads we cycle along are asphalted and with low traffic. You are free to set aside a half or full day to swim or spend time on board the boat, instead of taking a planned cycle-tour. This tour is primarily a guided group tour. Your tour guide informs you each day about the tour details. Upon consultation with your tour guides, the possibility to cycle on your own along recommended, suitable routes, may present itself.

Requirement to wear a helmet Helmet use is mandatory on all bike rides. . It is advised to bring your own, well fitted, helmet with you as our rental helmet numbers are limited (reservation required).

The catering starts with the dinner on the arrival day and ends with the breakfast on the departure day.  If you wish to eat vegetarian food or have distinctly different eating habits please inform us in time before your arrival. Please keep in mind that special food requirements cannot always be met in all details. If you have extensive food allergies we ask you to give us a list of the food that you can eat. This should be done before your arrival so that the cook can be instructed to plan and shop accordingly. In the case of a  glutenfree diet,  we request that you bring along your own basic foodstuffs such as bread and cereals for the duration of your tour with us, as it is extremely difficult to attain these products from Greek vendors. Please note that due to the small size of the kitchen and the available equipment on board, we cannot guarantee that your food will not come into contact with kitchen utensils in which gluten-containing foods have already been processed. So if you have a serious celiac disease , where the food must not come into contact with utensils in which food containing gluten was prepared, then we would recommend not to participate in the trip as the risk of an allergic shock would be too high. If it is a (mild) gluten intolerance it is not a problem.

Language aboard

Due to our international audience all Islandhopping tours are conducted bilingually, in English and German.

Please note that Greece is on Eastern European (Summer) time, i.e. GM(S)T + 2 hours.

Itinerary changes

We reserve the right to make changes to the planned itinerary due to changing wind and weather conditions as well as organizational requirements.

Group riding pace  On our regular cycling tours, the cyclists on regular bicycles determine the pace. We ask guests who have reserved an e-bike to be mindful of this and to acknowledge that the regular cyclists need time to rest and take longer to climb the hills. We thank you for your understanding.

Bringing Children

We believe that only children with a good physical condition and previous bicycle tour experience and a minimum age of 10 are able to master the cycle tours with their own strength. Please note that the minimum height for a rental bike is 1.30 m (4.3 ft.) for hybrid bikes.

Internet availability

Please note that there is no WiFi available onboard the Panagiota. If you need to connect to the internet during the tour, we recommend bringing your portable electronic device to a cafe or bar somewhere in the harbour. Free WiFi is on offer almost everywhere. If you order something to eat or drink, then you are able to use the WiFi to your hearts content.

Bringing private bikes & EXCLUSION of private E-BIKES and road bikes

The tour which you have booked requires a bike with a fully functional set of gears. We can offer you high quality, fully serviced rental bikes perfect for the terrain of this tour.

Should you however wish to bring your own hybrid or MTB with you, please make sure to check the condition of your breaks, gears, and tires and don’t forget to bring along a puncture repair kit and the essential spare parts for your bike (e.g. brake pads and tubes).

Please do not forget that the ship is your hotel as well as a machine, which has to be maintained and operated – day and night. A certain level of noise is therefore inevitable.

No, the barge doesn’t take the same route as the cyclists do. Sometimes the route may be altered because of weather conditions or repairs to bridges or locks and then the guests and the guide can arrange with the skipper to be met at a different place. Naturally you can always stay on board for one or more days.

Yes, this must be notified when booking, but no later than 14 days before arrival. Diets which need a special preparation or special ingredients can only be offered in limited form. We will do our best to meet your needs, but we also ask for your understanding as due to limited logistic possibilities on a barge we are not able to prepare complete specialized menus. On some trips, in case of a gluten-free diet; lactose-free diet or vegan meals, a surcharge of € 75,- per diet per week applies. This is stated per tour.

The size of the group depends on the barge scheduled on the tour. The capacity of the barges varies between 10 and 170 participants,but on most barges the capacity is between 10 and 24 people. However, on the larger barges a guided cycling group never consists of more than 26 people.

Most of the participants then wear rainwear. When the weather is so bad that cycling becomes really impossible (but that is almost never the case!), you can stay on board or your guide can organize an alternative program with, for example, cultural excursions and city tours (at your own expense).

The main countries represented by our cycling guests are: United States and Canada. We also receive guests from United Kingdom, Germany, France, the Netherlands, Belgium, Australia and New Zealand. The common language on board is English.

Savvino-storozhevsky monastery and museum.

Savvino-Storozhevsky Monastery and Museum

Zvenigorod's most famous sight is the Savvino-Storozhevsky Monastery, which was founded in 1398 by the monk Savva from the Troitse-Sergieva Lavra, at the invitation and with the support of Prince Yury Dmitrievich of Zvenigorod. Savva was later canonised as St Sabbas (Savva) of Storozhev. The monastery late flourished under the reign of Tsar Alexis, who chose the monastery as his family church and often went on pilgrimage there and made lots of donations to it. Most of the monastery’s buildings date from this time. The monastery is heavily fortified with thick walls and six towers, the most impressive of which is the Krasny Tower which also serves as the eastern entrance. The monastery was closed in 1918 and only reopened in 1995. In 1998 Patriarch Alexius II took part in a service to return the relics of St Sabbas to the monastery. Today the monastery has the status of a stauropegic monastery, which is second in status to a lavra. In addition to being a working monastery, it also holds the Zvenigorod Historical, Architectural and Art Museum.

Belfry and Neighbouring Churches

bike and boat tours corfu

Located near the main entrance is the monastery's belfry which is perhaps the calling card of the monastery due to its uniqueness. It was built in the 1650s and the St Sergius of Radonezh’s Church was opened on the middle tier in the mid-17th century, although it was originally dedicated to the Trinity. The belfry's 35-tonne Great Bladgovestny Bell fell in 1941 and was only restored and returned in 2003. Attached to the belfry is a large refectory and the Transfiguration Church, both of which were built on the orders of Tsar Alexis in the 1650s.

bike and boat tours corfu

To the left of the belfry is another, smaller, refectory which is attached to the Trinity Gate-Church, which was also constructed in the 1650s on the orders of Tsar Alexis who made it his own family church. The church is elaborately decorated with colourful trims and underneath the archway is a beautiful 19th century fresco.

Nativity of Virgin Mary Cathedral

bike and boat tours corfu

The Nativity of Virgin Mary Cathedral is the oldest building in the monastery and among the oldest buildings in the Moscow Region. It was built between 1404 and 1405 during the lifetime of St Sabbas and using the funds of Prince Yury of Zvenigorod. The white-stone cathedral is a standard four-pillar design with a single golden dome. After the death of St Sabbas he was interred in the cathedral and a new altar dedicated to him was added.

bike and boat tours corfu

Under the reign of Tsar Alexis the cathedral was decorated with frescoes by Stepan Ryazanets, some of which remain today. Tsar Alexis also presented the cathedral with a five-tier iconostasis, the top row of icons have been preserved.

Tsaritsa's Chambers

bike and boat tours corfu

The Nativity of Virgin Mary Cathedral is located between the Tsaritsa's Chambers of the left and the Palace of Tsar Alexis on the right. The Tsaritsa's Chambers were built in the mid-17th century for the wife of Tsar Alexey - Tsaritsa Maria Ilinichna Miloskavskaya. The design of the building is influenced by the ancient Russian architectural style. Is prettier than the Tsar's chambers opposite, being red in colour with elaborately decorated window frames and entrance.

bike and boat tours corfu

At present the Tsaritsa's Chambers houses the Zvenigorod Historical, Architectural and Art Museum. Among its displays is an accurate recreation of the interior of a noble lady's chambers including furniture, decorations and a decorated tiled oven, and an exhibition on the history of Zvenigorod and the monastery.

Palace of Tsar Alexis

bike and boat tours corfu

The Palace of Tsar Alexis was built in the 1650s and is now one of the best surviving examples of non-religious architecture of that era. It was built especially for Tsar Alexis who often visited the monastery on religious pilgrimages. Its most striking feature is its pretty row of nine chimney spouts which resemble towers.
