Elegant, attractive, beautiful, and romantic - are just some qualities that come to mind when you imagine a city like Paris. Countless tales and stories have been established within its famous borders over an extended history. It is nearly the perfect city to live and work in, and when you do, you will experience something extraordinary in your life. But logistically, as a Non-Parisien, there are usually many details to work out, like to find English speaking jobs in Paris, lodging, health insurance, finances, and visa requirements.

Moreover, if you would like to move to Paris, you're likely to need more complex french language skills than Bonjour, une baguette s'il vous plaît!

Unlike other major European capitals like Stockholm or Copenhagen, where the official information is published in English, it is uncommon to find such information in France in any different language.

Working in Paris as an Expat

In France, where most jobs require you to speak a minimum of some French, it can be challenging for a native speaker of the English language to find a job.

As far as foreigners are concerned, the French labor market can be divided into highly qualified and less qualified.

The chances of working in Paris are more realistic if you have reputable university degrees and international experience.

Paris has very well established companies and upcoming start-ups with flexible hours that are always looking to hire highly-skilled English speakers. Thus, if you speak languages other than French like English, you will considerably increase your chances of getting a job in France.

In terms of cities, Paris is considered a natural choice for expats, but some recruits far beyond the City of Light.

Can I get a job in Paris without speaking French?

A commonly perceived idea reflects that the French are bad at the English language and are easily off-putting when speaking another language. So, is this true?

According to surveys, 9 out of 10 French people consider themselves less good at foreign languages than other Europeans and are more critical of teaching foreign languages in France.

In another survey organized by the organization EF, France is at the bottom of the table on English proficiency among European countries, at the 35th position. Italy and Spain are also at the bottom of the table. The countries that are mastering Shakespeare's language the best are, unsurprisingly, the countries of northern Europe (Sweden, Norway, the Netherlands).

Don't panic if you feel hostile between the French; it is always possible to get through by speaking Frenglish.

Is it easy to get an English speaking job in Paris?

Yes and No.

Finding jobs in Paris for foreigners is often a complicated matter. Each year, many international students experience difficulties in their research. It can often feel like a multitasking game by submitting multiple cover letters, resumes, and online applications.

Without a doubt, finding English-speaking jobs in Paris can sometimes feel like a full-time job in itself, but the rewards are fruitful. We have covered seven crucial steps which can help you land a permanent contract or full-time job in Paris in 4 weeks!

Although these pointers can play a vital role in putting you ahead of other candidates, the primary essential aspect is your willingness, determination, and passion for the field you want to start your career. Job search is a not-so-easy task. To have successfully found your next job in Pairs, it requires enthusiasm to grit one’s teeth, explore further, and grind it out and keep going when the going gets hard. It also means not giving up when job applications do not work out as intended or hoped.

Jobs in Paris for Non-French Speakers

A professional life in Paris is mainly focused on French, especially in the B2C sectors (sales, customer contact, etc.) or in medicine, where French fluency is essential. However, many companies with an international vocation are present, mainly in Paris, where the working language is English.

Working in France without speaking French can therefore be quite possible. However, daily life without speaking French can be more complicated, since in France, whether on product packaging or television, everything is translated into French!

As stated previously, if you do not master French but are a native speaker of English, all hope is not lost; English is the international language. Many multinational and import-export and start-up jobs will be open to you!

What English speaking jobs are in demand in Paris?

With a dynamic job market and protective social law, Paris remains a welcoming land for professional mobility candidates. Paris has nearly 11 million inhabitants and employs 23.3% of all jobs in France. The most preferred job offers for English speakers are in the field of IT, Engineering, Marketing, Finance, and Business Development.

How to find English speaking jobs in Paris in 4 Weeks?

Finding a job is not an easy task in a country where your native language, such as English, is not the country's mother tongue. To be effective, know that it is not the number of applications sent but their quality that makes the difference.

Exploration, organization, and preparation: these are seven critical steps to finding your desired English speaking job offers in Paris.

Finding jobs in Paris for foreigners

There are numerous job boards where a job seeker can search for jobs in Paris for non french speakers on platforms like Linkedin, Indeed, Glassdoor. Still, the primary challenge is to search within these job descriptions if they require French or any other European language as part of their recruitment requirement, and if you want to kick start your career in 4 weeks, it can be a time-consuming process.

What if there was a job board just for English-Speakers which does not require French or any other language but English? Thus, in turn, it could save you tons of time, and you could find the latest jobs as per your career interest. It sounds exciting, right?

Faruse is the perfect solution for finding jobs in Paris for non-french speakers. Every day, there are 1000+ English speaking jobs released on the platform, which can turbocharge your job search. You can filter the search results as per your field of expertise or by the company and directly apply to your desired position.

To put it as clearly as possible, you will not have much job-search success unless you know how to uncover as many jobs as possible, act on those job leads, and then follow-up on future job postings. Job leads are essential in the job-search process, and if you are looking for jobs abroad for English speakers, you are at the right place!

Get Organized with a Job Dashboard

To be more agile, you must have a collection of all the English-speaking jobs you have applied for. Why is this important?

Often neglected, the organization is essential in a job search. In particular, it is vital to note all the details of each position and each application: company for which we have applied, for which job, which missions, on what date, what contacts we have had with them, etc.

If you ever receive an unexpected phone interview from a recruiter interested in your profile and you no longer remember the offer or when you answered it, the interview may start badly.

You can access a job dashboard on Faruse, where you will daily receive English speaking jobs in Paris customized according to your career interests.

It will provide you with a systematic framework on different touchpoints of the job-seeking journey, from applying to managing your job interviews and, most importantly, following up with your recruiters at the right time. This will save you extra hours that can be well used to prepare for your upcoming phone interviews or in-person meetings.

Resume Optimisation

A company receives a large number of applications for a published job posting. To stand out and catch the eye of the recruiter, you must customize your CV.

An excellent personalized CV must include a clear title, keywords suited to the position sought, and well-informed professional experience.

You should also know that most of the recruitment firms use Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) to quickly filter and rank your resume based on its relevance to the job description.

To ensure your CV and cover letter are tracked, make use of Faruse's AI-powered free resume builder. It makes sure that your CV is targeting the right keywords, provides you real-time content analysis, and the best part, you can also directly import all your information from LinkedIn.

Our AI resume builder will ensure you are fully compliant with the industry standards of beating down the ATS and landing more interviews for your next job in Paris.

Do not spend hours perfecting your resume and cover letter when you can customize it within 10 mins. The best part, you can create unlimited tailored resumes with life-time access. No monthly installments, sweet deal, isn't it?

Legalities: What are the visa requirements for landing a job in Paris?

France is an inviting country just not for the millions of tourists who visit for leisure but also for thousands of international students moving to France for higher education. If you are a citizen of the EU, EEA countries, or Switzerland, you don’t need a French work permit to secure a permanent or part time job in France.

Foreigners who enter France to take up paid employment must have a work permit. Otherwise, a company cannot hire him/her. The work permit can take either a visa or a residence permit, or a document separate from the residence document.

It depends on your work contract. For example - employees with permanent contracts can initially become 1 year-term visa holders and renew it before its expiry.  Sanctions are levied in the event of the employment of an illegal worker.

Visa management is a tricky one, even if you are in Paris as an expat or plan to move to France. The French administration is a bit complicated, and getting around can be challenging as a non-french speaker.

If you are struggling to find the answers to your visa-related questions, you can always send us an email, and our visa expert team will be happy to answer your questions.

Alternatively, you can also check out some Facebook groups where people must have surfaced in a similar situation, but one should always prefer professional advice if possible.

We often get asked - Can I move to Paris without a job?

Leaving everything to go and live in another city, whether it's Paris, Marseille, Lyon or whichever in your country, it's always the same.

In case you plan to move to Paris without a job, you need to ensure you have financial savings that correspond to what you need to survive. You have to count the rent and the cost of living, consider the costs of transport to work, etc. For rent of 500 euros, you must earn more than 1500 euros net monthly, therefore) or find guarantors which can also be your parents, relatives.

Although it sounds like a wild ride, it is not impossible, and the chances to get a job in some instances may improve as one can directly meet the recruiter and other team members. It is essential to understand your visa situation and consider the other external factors before making this call.

Learn New Skills During your Job Search

Learning throughout your career is essential to be able to evolve and gain skills. Continuing learning concerns all those who have entered the workforce: employees, job seekers, self-employed workers, and liberal professions or work-study students.

The French companies also provide financial help and time-off during work if you learn new courses to improve your knowledge. It is possibly the best way for job seekers to show a recruiter that you are more than ready for the new challenge by learning new skills and upgrading your knowledge.

It will not only help you to boost your confidence but give an added advantage over other candidates.

There are numerous paid courses that one can undertake, but at Faruse, we are very focussed on self - development and release free course worth over €1000 every month to help students and job hunters. One can take advantage of these free online courses that come with a certification and use them on their CV and Linkedin to attract potential recruiters.

Recruitment Toolbox for Preparation

Practice makes one perfect, and if you have the right recruitment toolbox, you can speed up your preparations for interviews and analytical tests. This will help you to create a perfect first impression and ace your interviews.

Before any interview with a recruiter, you should prepare yourself. You must collect as much information as possible on the position, missions, contact, activity, results, market, operations, and values to show your seriousness and motivation during the interview.

Having the right recruitment toolbox from the beginning can help you research this information in no time, and you can also use it in your cover letter to make a lasting impression.

We have made a list of 50+ tools that can help you understand more about the recruiter - likes/dislikes, how to communicate to land interviews quickly, LinkedIn hacks to put your job search on automation, and tons of valuable resources ahead of your competition.

If you need access, reach out to us.

Career Counselling

It is well known that the job search is a challenging and time-consuming task. And for a good reason, it is hard to guess in advance the company's requirements, what it considers to be strengths and weaknesses.

However, when a job seeker is not getting any reverts, it is customary to lose motivation, leading to frustration.

If you are in this boat, do not worry; you can book a consultation call with our team. We are always ready to provide you with suggestions about your job search, resumes, and most importantly, develop a third eye perspective to overcome your obstacles.

Essential Things to Keep in Mind when searching for Jobs in Paris for non french speakers

Remuneration: what is a good salary in paris.

The level of wages in France has been increasing over the years, but there are several indicators. The annual net salary and the monthly gross salaryis calculated every month. The housing and lifestyle in Paris can be expensive to afford if one is not paid enough for their efforts.

Half of the employees receive less than 1,850 euros net per month, 17% receive more than 3,000 euros, 8% more than 4,000 euros per the data by OBSERVATOIRE DES INÉGALITÉS . It allows you to understand better the salary landscape and negotiate better when you sign your next job contract in Paris.

Keep Various Options Available

Did you know that a fixed-term contract (CDD) is paid more than a full-time employment contract (CDI)?

Yes, that is true. Because CDD (a type of employment contract) is classified as an insecure job, the employer will pay you 10% more than the minimum salary basics. In case you are working extra hours, you do get paid for that as well.

Indeed, job security with a permanent contract is priceless. Nevertheless, a CDD earns more, it seems. At the end of your contract, your balance of any account may hold some good surprises for you. Keep your eyes open for a fixed-term contract that matches your expectations.

Apart from CDD contracts, part time jobs, internships, and seasonal jobs are lucrative to get a full-time placement in a French company. Depending on your internship's length, the remuneration is an element that varies from one offer to another. The standard minimum gratuity is 577.50 € with 35 hours per week, and it is possible to benefit from a budget for transport and your meals. Therefore, doing an internship has two advantages: earning money while learning and gaining crucial skills for your future career.

Other Top Cities to consider when searching for English speaking jobs in France

What is the best city in france besides paris to live in for an english speaking foreigner.

The standard of living in all cities across France is quite remarkable as compared to other European countries. Bustling cities like Lyon, Marseille, Toulouse, and Grenoble have numerous opportunities to offer foreigners searching for a wide range of English Speaking Jobs.

One advantage of working in these cities is that the cost of living is cheaper than in Paris and thus, one can save more money for the delicious food, cheese, wine, and French life. Do not hesitate to glance over the part time and full-time English speaking jobs abroad for English speakers in countries like the Netherlands and Germany, if you feel interested.

Conclusion

Living abroad in a city like Paris with its romantic backdrop, stunning cityscape, and fine-dining dream of many adventure seekers. It is just too much to resist for expats that dream of living in among the world’s most happening capitals.

Not having enough French skills or no french is not a deal-breaker for finding an English Speaking job in Paris. It is always possible to learn the language by taking french lessons, interacting more often with the international community, or living with a french family.

You can check out more than 1000+ available job opportunities and companies hiring English-speakers for their next role. Some companies actively look for English speakers, so make sure to check those out first. If you need more tips for finding your next employment contract or job interview, do not hesitate to reach out to us by e-mail. We are available 7 days per week to answer your queries.

Lastly, although there are ample opportunities in other cities, Paris is still a preferred city for finding English speaking jobs in France as there are more opportunities available for native-English Speakers than any other city.

Tips to look for a job in Paris

Expats are in demand for high-ranking, specialized, positions. But since there're many highly qualified candidates competing for limited positions, you'll need to make your application top-notch.

But don't worry – with a little preparation, perseverance and a lot of hard work, you can find the job of your dreams in Paris. Here’re our tips to find a job:

1. Practice your French

While some industries or jobs don’t require French, knowing a bit of the language is essential to form relationships with colleagues and clients.

Knowing French along with English or any other language will significantly improve your chance of getting a job interview because many businesses in Paris are looking for bilingual candidates.

2. If you don't know how to speak French , attend intensive language courses or use online resources to learn the basics in a short amount of time.

3. Tailor your CV to the local standard

When applying for jobs in Paris, it's important to tailor your CV to the local standards as it can be different from what you're used to .

In France, CVs are 1-2 pages long, depending on your years of experience. It's common for CVs in France to be written in French and to have a professional picture__ at the top. Make sure your CV includes your name, address, email, eligibility to work, list of relevant professional experience, education, language skills, and any hard or soft skills.

4. Start applying for jobs in Paris

As with everywhere else LinkedIn is a great starting point for your job hunt in Paris. However, its popularity doesn’t mean that it’s 100% effective and it’s a good idea to diversify your job search by making accounts in any of the following job portals:

If the independent job search doesn’t get you any interview, it might be a good idea to work with one of the many recruitment agencies . The most popular ones are:

  • Yves Marie Consultants

5. Network in Paris

It has long been known that building a network of contacts in your field of work is one of the best ways to find employment opportunities .

Although networking in Paris would require you to be in the city, it’s worth giving it a shot and attending one of the many networking events that the bigger companies take part in.

Some of the most popular organizers of such events are:

  • InterNations
  • Professional Women Paris

6. Get ready for the interview process

When it comes to interviews, French companies often screen candidates through multiple interviews, sometimes up to 4 ! This means that each interview requires preparation on your part in terms of researching the company and preparing questions about the position and the company itself .

But don't let the interview process stress you out too much. Just __dress well, be respectful, and be prepared.

7. Negotiate for good pay

The average salary in Paris is approximately 5% higher than in the rest of France because of the high cost of living in Paris.

Although the salaries can vary depending on several factors, such as your experience, the company you work for and the sector you're in, the table below should give you a good impression of what you can expect:

What to expect from your employment contract in Paris

Got an offer? Congrats! There are 2 types of employment contracts in France :

  • Contrat à durée indéterminée (CDI)
  • Contrat à durée déterminée (CDD)

It’s highly likely you’ll get a CDD contract, which is a temporary employment contract that can be renewed up to 2 times. This type of contract doesn't typically include a trial period.

A CDI contract is a permanent contract that doesn't have a set end date. This type of contract usually includes a trial period , during which either party may terminate the contract without notice or penalty.

In general, the CDI contract is the better option , as it provides more job security and protection. However, both types of contracts have their own advantages and it's important to weigh all options before making a decision.

Moving to Paris for a job

Once you’ve moved to Paris for work, don’t forget to open a French bank account and get your French tax id number as you’ll be obligated to pay taxes. Once you have found a job, you can start looking for furnished apartments for rent in Paris . The earlier you start your search, the higher is your chance to rent apartments in Paris .

Now that you’re aware of the basics of finding a job in Paris as an English-speaker, you’re all set to start searching and applying for jobs in the capital of France! Bonne chance!

Our values at Paris To Versailles Private Tours

Unlike many others, we are more than just a tour company .

In fact, Paris To Versailles provides luxury guided experiences through thematic district tours, museum visits, chic shopping and lifestyle immersions. All of these tours are inspired by the French monarchy and the Parisian art de vivre. Through our tailor-made tours, small groups of Americans experience The Louvre, the Palace of Versailles, Giverny, Chantilly and many more iconic places in a unique way.

Recruiting tour guides with solid knowledge is not enough to offer our clients the best experience possible. What we really need is a sense of connection with interesting people who share our ideals.

Our core value? Each visit is different

According to us, being a guide-lecturer is the exact opposite of reciting a monologue! What’s more boring than a text learned by heart, without any interest for the audience? On the contrary, our strong belief in sharing is precisely one of the reasons why our clients have chosen us for many years now.

Adaptation is what really drives our guide-lecturers through all the visits. Indeed, each client is different (couples, families with small children, elderly people…) which means different knowledge and expectations. Some of them may know their way around French history, while others are complete beginners! On the other hand, some are strongly keen about learning anecdotes about the Louvre castle, while others are just looking to relax in the gardens of Versailles. In all cases, our tour guides always adapt their visit depending on the needs of our clients.

Our tour guide-lecturer jobs in Paris

In other companies, guides can sometimes be underpaid and seen as easy jobs for students. This is not our case at all!

We strive to build a strong relationship with our Paris To Versailles guides and highly respect their work. For example, we know that exchanging with our clients will require your full attention as a guide. This is why a private chauffeur always accompanies you. In doing so, you can fully concentrate on the conversation, without having to drive in the streets of Paris!

In addition to being able to live off your passion, being a Paris To Versailles guide offers many advantages. You get to spend your days in amazing places such as the Basilica of Saint-Denis, the Palace of Versailles or Vaux-le-Vicomte. You also meet very pleasant individuals and have the opportunity to share meaningful conversations with them. Last but not least, you enjoy a high degree of autonomy , while respecting the schedules related to the agency’s organization.

We take it that little extra step and also offer exciting Food and Wine Tasting Tours, along with some fun water-based activities such as Stand-Up Paddling and Canyoning. I guess you could say we’re a Jack of All Trades!

paris tour guide jobs

Here along the French Riviera, we attract over 10 million tourists annually. Our biggest city, Nice, attracts 5 million of these visitors, making it France’s second most popular tourist destination. The first of course being the famous City of Lights itself. After all the positive experiences we’ve had here, we want to branch out and share this with other cities too. We started first with our Paris Bar Crawls , which have been an even bigger success than we could have ever hoped for! Now, we hope to organize our own Guided Walking Tours too. Paris has such a fantastic and unique history. It would be a shame not to share it with the rest of the world.

What Will Your Job Be?

As a tour guide, it will be your job to first off welcome everybody on the tour. Its important to be friendly and enthusiastic so as to make everyone feel welcomed. Afterall, you will be spending the next 3 hours or so in their company, its best to make a good first impression! Once you have your group, you’ll lead them through some of the most historic places in the city. Weaving your way through the streets of the Latin Quarter, Marais and Monmartre while retelling some if the region’s most fascinating stories. And don’t be afraid to be yourself! Make jokes, socialise, have fun. A tour group is only as fun as its tour guide.

paris tour guide jobs

Outside of the Walking Tours, there’s also the possibility of helping out with our Bar Crawls. It’s a great way to meet fun-loving internationals from all over the world and enjoy the very best of Paris nightlife. As a guide, its of course expected that you’ll party and have fun with the rest of the group. But just remember, everyone’s safety is our top priority. Yours included!

Even if the whole socialising aspect isn’t up your alley, there are also available positions in our Office Work department. After all, all our fantastic tours and activities can’t function without the organization of the office crew. Not just in charge of taking bookings, your responsibility will be the create our new content. From Instagram posts to website articles to Facebook events, we count on you to spread the word to all our future clients!

Requirements:

Well for starters, you do of course have to be 18 years old. But after that? We’re happy to work with individuals of all ages and backgrounds! What’s more, you don’t necessarily need to speak any other language other than English. After all, English speaking is our main domain. But of course, being able to speak French or Spanish would really set you in front of some of our other applicants.

Also, if you don’t have any prior experience working as a tour guide or bar crawl staff, then don’t worry! You’ll pick it up in no time. Although previous experience certainly does help a lot.

One requirement in particular to be aware of is that you will need to obtain a French and European work permit in order to work here. And you also need to be flexible when it comes to working hours. After all, we are working in the Tourism Industry.

How to Apply:

We welcome applications from anyone who thinks they would be right for one of our available positions. We’re always looking for new and energetic individuals to add to our ever-growing team. To get in contact with us, feel free to email us at: [email protected] and fill this form

If you’d like to learn a bit more about our company and how we operate, then check out our website or even have a look through some of our Tripadvisor reviews! They speak for themselves.

Part-Time English-Speaking jobs in Paris

Part-time english speaking jobs in paris.

Be My Nounou offers hundreds of jobs in Paris for English speakers (native or bilingual, all are welcomed!). We have the chance to work with the nicest families in Paris and close suburbs.

Despite the fact that you already know how FUN our agency is, why you should choose to work with Be My Nounou ? Well, let us tell you why!

Firstly, we teach English to children in their daily routines, the goal is to create an «  English bubble  » while taking care of them.  The goal is to use this time to teach English in a natural way through daily activities, playing with the kids, cooking … every activity should be a pretext to teach English while having fun!

Babysitter job, nanny job : perfect english speaking job !

Babysitting is the perfect job to combine studies and money. Plus, it ’ s good training to become a mother or father 😜

Most importantly, play is an essential part of a children ’ s development, at Be My Nounou we truly value games and activities as the greatest way of learning a new language!

So if you are part of our BAE (Babysitter Awesome and Enthusiastic) , it is for your creativity and your curious personality, your ability to inspire children and offer them your ideas. But you may need a little help sometimes. The breakdowns of inspiration, the syndrome of the white sheet, it happens to everyone! That ’ s why the Be My Nounou team offers you an activity book and an activity box filled with gifts and ideas for children ’ s activities.

Above all, the goal is to communicate only in English with the children during the time of guard thanks to the material provided by the agency to help the children to learn the language of Shakespeare! And as we learn a new language faster by playing, get ready to have a lot of fun with your little French kids!

Good to know : In any case, you are not obliged to use the material provided by the agency, but it is appreciated by the parents. As a creative nounou, you can also add you own personal touch by submitting your ideas, games and activities that you may know or have already tried with other kids.

How does it work?

Before your first day with the family, you will pick up an activity box at the agency for the children. It is especially designed to introduce you to the kids in a « friendly way » (with gifts, the first meeting passes more easily, do you not agree?) and facilitate the learning of a new language in a fun way. You ’ ll find inside:

  • Fingers puppets
  • English cards game
  • English child booklet (made by the Be My Nounou team; songs, crafts activities, drawing…)
  • Bilingual flashcards book
  • and many other surprises!

In addition, we also provide to our nounous with a monthly thematic program of activities that allows our English-speaking nannies to propose activities and games during the childcare.

Details of the activity booklet send once every two months to our team :

  • Cooking recipes
  • Dance choreography
  • Thematic flashcards
  • Songs and rhymes
  • Scientific experiences
  • DIY arts and crafts
  • Stories and early literacy
  • Fun worksheet
  • Outdoor and indoor games
  • Dramatic play
  • Coloring pages
  • Printable accessories

Nanny job : How to use the activity book?

As a « nounou » for Be My Nounou, you aren ’ t teachers, but English babysitters tutors who adapt to the age, personality, hobbies and desires of each child.  Depending on the parents ’ recommendations and childcare time, you can come up with one or more activities from the program that allow children to play while learning a new language. For short time babysitting, enjoy reading activities and quiet games. For long guards, you can start by making a cooking recipe or role-playing game. The guard is based on a fun and tailor-made immersion.

All activities developed by the team are designed to help children memorize vocabulary. Activities can be manual or sports, educational games or fun activities to encourage children to play while learning a new language with a native or bilingual speaker.

Depending on the age and autonomy of the child, you will have to supervise or assist with the execution of activities, while remaining at the child ’ s disposal in case of questions or difficulties.

When you are planning activities with children, it is important to remember to:

  • Interact with the children
  • Use repetition
  • Introduce new material
  • Be flexible
  • Allow breaks

Through games and activities of the booklet as well as by daily actions, the goal is for the children to learn a new language with her or his BAE (Babysitter Awesome and Enthusiastic). While having fun!
