Located opposite Amsterdam's iconic Rijksmuseum, the Royal Experience Amsterdam jewelry and diamond polishing workshop was founded in 1840 . Since then, its gems have captivated illustrious world-famous personalities such as Queen Victoria I of England, Empress Sissi of Austria and Napoleon Bonaparte himself.

At the time of your choice, we'll begin a guided tour of the Royal Experience Amsterdam facilities . During the tour, which lasts about 30 minutes , you'll learn all about this company's long history and the famous people who have oohed and aahed over its brilliant diamonds.

Learn how diamonds are shaped, cut and polished , and discover how Amsterdam became known as "the city of diamonds . " You'll also get to see firsthand how the esteemed goldsmiths and diamond polishers of Royal Experience Amsterdam work.

We'll continue the tour in the exhibition halls , which house a large display of loose diamonds of all shapes and sizes . Among them is the patented Royal 201 diamond , deemed the most brilliant diamond in the world !

Royal stories can be found when diving into this rich legacy. Then, have the unique opportunity to see the diamond polishers and goldsmiths upclose, whilst your guide explains how diamonds are formed and polished. You can take a picture of yourself behind a real diamond polishing table, learn how to analyze a diamond and hear why some diamonds sparkle more than others.

Curious how the hardest material in the world is cut into a beautifully sparkling diamond? No better way than experiencing it yourself! After this highly exclusive workshop (max 2 persons at a time) you will master the skill of cutting diamonds. Your personal guide/master polisher will welcome you to our polishing factory in the centre of Amsterdam. Before the workshop starts, he or she will take you on a private tour through the Diamond Museum and tell you everything there is to know about the origin of diamonds. You will also see some amazing diamond artefacts, and our master polisher will tell some fascinating stories only true craftsmen know. After the museum, it’s time to sit down at the polishing table. Cutting diamonds requires specialized knowledge, tools, equipment, and techniques because of its extreme difficulty. So, before we start our diamond polisher explains everything about the (protected) craft of diamond polishing and the 4 C’s of diamond valuation. After the extensive explanation, it is time to start polishing your own diamond. To make sure you will polish your diamond perfectly, you will be given clear instructions, tips, and feedback during the polishing. When your personally cut diamond is finished, you will receive your official Royal Coster Diamonds polishing certificate. But we are not finished yet! The Diamond Fund is not only a unique museum displaying a stunning exhibition of historical artefacts, jewellery and precious stones, but also the main treasury of the Russian Federation. The dazzling beauty of the jewellery exhibited here is indescribable. With jaw-dropping diamonds and sparkling emeralds, this collection is unrivalled the world over. We proudly invite you to visit one of the most ambitious projects in our country’s history!

Today, it seems incredible that this fantastic collection began as just a small wrought iron chest that Peter the Great instructed the royal jewels and state regalia be kept in. It is very doubtful that 300 years ago, Peter would have foreseen that his rather modest collection ​​would turn into this mega-project, comparable to the Crown Jewels at the Tower of London.

On the tour you will see:

• Invaluable historical exhibits: coronation ceremony instruments (orb, sceptre, crown), insignia, items specially made for the members of the imperial house, the jewellery of Russian kings and queens (tiaras, earrings, brooches, hair clips etc.).
• The Russian monarchs’ power symbols - the Imperial Crown of Russia, a work of art made up of diamonds and pearls, topped with a rare red spinel.
• Jewellery made of precious metals and stones, created in Soviet times by outstanding master craftsmen, especially for the Diamond Fund.
• ‘Seven Wonders of the Diamond Fund’ - a legendary exhibition of gems, including diamonds and other stones of epic proportions.
• The collection of platinum and gold nuggets, the largest of which is called the ‘Big Triangle’ and weighs a whopping 36kg!
