Sam Smith

The superstar British singer and songwriter adds arena dates in five cities, kicking off Oct. 28 at Adelaide Entertainment Centre in South Australia.

Australia and NZ will cap a full run of dates across the U.K., Europe and North America, slated to start April 23 at Motorpoint Arena in Sheffield, England.

Work has begun on the marathon that awaits.

“I start rehearsals in March,” Smith tells Billboard . “I’m starting to prep now, really. I’m starting to watch what I eat, what I’m drinking, starting to move my body more, train my voice, just getting ready for the year ahead.”

On this occasion, “I’m not doing as many gigs this time as last time, when I hit nearly 130 gigs. That was really intense. We’re doing a little less, keeping an eye on my mind and my body.”

With Gloria , which is due out Jan. 27, Smith is four albums deep into a career that has yielded four Grammys, three BRITs, a Golden Globe, one Oscar, some 50 billion multi-platform streams, and a coveted James Bond theme.

Smith knows what to expect from the road ahead. “I think I’ll always feel fatigued after a tour, it’s an intense job. The jetlag and the adrenaline crash you go through every night when you walk off stage, it’s very intense. I plan my breaks, so it’s not going to be impossible. It’s just about getting used to jetlag. Every time I do it, I know how to look after myself more and more.”

Smith’s three studio albums all crashed the top 5 on the Billboard 200, with 2017’s The Thrill of It All hitting No. 1.

Sam Smith’s Gloria tour reaches its euphoric peak in Sydney ★★★★★

Smith welcomes audiences in on a personal journey with this full-scale production in the city where they "found themself"

Alannah Le Cross

The evolution of Sam Smith has reached its euphoric peak through the Gloria tour. This curated three-part experience of Sam’s discography takes you from their early days of stripped-back soulful songs of heartbreak, starting with ‘Stay With Me’, through the uncomfortable growing pains of learning to love themself, and to a celebratory round of queer discotheque, ending on a high with ‘Unholy’.

Smith kicked off the two-date Sydney leg of their world tour at the Qudos Bank Arena on Friday, November 3. Featuring Australian-grown Meg Mac as their supporting act – who provided a suitable warm-up with her soulful and emotive music which speaks to Smith’s early work.

Sam is an artist who has lived out much of their personal and professional journey in the scrutinising glow of the public spotlight. A nod to the non-binary singer’s growth and commitment to personal truth in spite of this comes early on, when the lyrics “cause I’m just a man” in ‘Stay With Me’ are updated to “please baby understand”.

Meanwhile, their vocal performance is as strong as ever. As crystal clear as a mastered studio recording, their voice is like brown butter – it goes down smooth, but you can feel every tangy grain of grit and pain. A beacon of megawatt stage presence, Sam simultaneously has a relaxed charm.

View this post on Instagram A post shared by SAM SMITH (@samsmith)

The Sydney dates fall towards the tail end of the Gloria world tour. Despite this, the stage is full of energy. As Smith explained to the 13,000-strong sold-out audience, playing in the Harbour City is somewhat of a homecoming for them. They’ve been visiting our city for many years, long before they headlined Sydney Mardi Gras (in 2020, on the precipice of the global lockdowns which led them to slow down and write the Gloria album). They told us: “Sydney was where I found myself.”

The performance that followed was the actualisation of someone who has in fact found and affirmed themself as a person and as an artist. This is echoed in the stage design, in which a plush, erotic depiction of a masculine body in gold lounges across the entirety of the stage.

For years, Sam’s career has focused on their voice and the emotional connection it prompted in the audience. In a 2023 interview with Zane Lowe for Apple Music, Sam discussed the restrictions of being a young artist, the vulnerability involved in producing an album, and the exposure of having your every move on stage dissected, which left them seeking a sense of safety from the public eye as their burgeoning queer identity started to evolve. Now those restrictions have been fully stripped, and this is reflected in the way in which the Gloria experience has been creatively directed – from the stage design to the evolution of the costumes, which speak to each section and theme of the experience.

The first ensemble they appear in features a white business shirt with a black skinny tie, similar to the types of outfits that they would typically wear during the In The Lonely Hour days. Except, the shirt and tie sits underneath an encrusted gold corset. It’s in this costume that they sing their standard crowd favourites including ‘Good at Goodbyes’, ‘Not the Only One’ and ‘Like I Can’. But this is all just the prelude to three “chapters” and six rounds of an evolving performance interspersed with breaks from the diverse assemblage of talented dancers.

Chapter One is Love , and their outfit is a romantic style, with a billowing white blouse trimmed in lace as the centrepiece. In this section they sing ‘I’m Not Perfect’, ‘My Diamonds’, ‘How Do You Sleep?’ (complete with some of the iconic moves from the music video) and ‘Dancing With a Stranger’.

Chapter Two is Beauty , this section begins with ambient choral music, and Sam enters in a show-stopping glittering ball gown with a generous tulle petticoat spilling out from underneath to perform a cover of ‘Kissing You’ (arguably the best cover song they’ve ever done) – this then leads into ‘Lay Me Down’ and ‘Love Goes’.

Contrasting the gown, their next look is an all-black denim cowboy 'fit that fulfils our rhinestone “yeehaw” fantasies. Calling on the audience to help turn the stadium into “a big gay bar”, Smith goes on to sing ‘I’m Not Ready to Lose You’ and the electro-fuelled ‘Tonight’ before being adorned in an enormous puffy pink coat for ‘I’m Not Here to Make Friends’ – the same one they wore in the explosive music video, which outraged viewers who aren’t used to seeing a body like Sam’s adorned in corsets and nipple tassels.

From there, they appear in a low-key streetwear-style denim jacket and jeans with a rhinestoned white tee-shirt, which leads to a liberating shirtless boogie to Sam’s cover of Donna Summer’s ‘I Feel Love’ – a song that inherently evokes queer dance floor euphoria.

The religious references are dialled up as Smith emerges in a white shroud and crown that evoke the Virgin Mary as the hymn that inspired the tour’s title echoes across the stadium – before the fabric is torn away to reveal an outfit made up of not much more than underwear, nipple pasties, fishnets and over-the-knee boots. The phrase from Madonna’s song ‘Human Nature’ “express yourself, don’t repress yourself” is repeated like a motif, a driver of the message that Smith told us up top is what this whole show is about: Freedom.

At one point between slinky dance moves, they grab their exposed tummy and shake it, smiling to themself and to the audience – and Sam looks great. The performer on this stage is miles from the early days of Sam’s career, when there was a sense of hesitation and self-consciousness.

Like many other queer, trans and non-binary people in the public eye, Smith puts so much of themself into their art, and they do it with so much love, whilst also uplifting and showcasing the other artists they share the stage with. Despite the hatred and vitriol that continues to be fired at them, with this tour, Sam creates a safe and inviting space.

By the final sequence, the “gay bar” has evolved into a queer cabaret. The fishnet ensemble is layered and embellished with a corset and an elaborate devil-horned top hat for the big closer – the Grammy-winning hit ‘Unholy’ – and it’s a howlin’ hoot.

Sam is in league with a trend of great queer pop artists who are playing with religious iconography in a way that can be healing for the queer community, and for anyone who has felt the effects of suppressive binaries and rules.

The comfort that Sam now has in themself is palpable, and it makes their audience feel comfortable, too. A wide array of people from all walks of life filled the arena, and everyone was fully into it (there was probably some shocks for the straight boyfriends who were dragged along, and the unsuspecting middle-aged ladies who liked Sam’s X-Factor era). But Sam is one of those rare queer artists who brings people together from multiple communities.

Their performance never falters. It takes a lot of training and a considerable level of fitness to be able to maintain the power and control behind a voice like that while also keeping up with your dancers and putting on a show – not to mention, also being corseted and stomping around in eight-inch heels.

It’s been five years since Smith has brought a tour to Sydney, and their fans have been yearning for a collective healing cry, yet there were some notable songs missing from the 90-minute set. ‘Love Me More’, the first song off Gloria and an affective self-love anthem, would have been a significant inclusion, and a crystallising transition between the Love and Beauty chapters. Despite this, the Gloria tour is an impressive reintroduction to an artist who continues to evolve while remaining true to themself.

We love Sam in all of their facets, but our favourite Sam is the one who isn’t afraid to show us who they really are, and in turn allows us to be who we want to be, too.

Sam Smith has added dates in Australia and New Zealand to their Gloria world tour, heading down under in October.

The British pop star will kick off the short run at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre on October 28 before journeying on to Melbourne, Sydney, and Brisbane. Smith will then head to New Zealand for one final show in Auckland on November 11.

A ticket pre-sale opened today (January 16), with a general sale beginning on Wednesday (18). Visit Smith’s official website for more details and to buy tickets.

The shows down under will follow a raft of shows across the UK, Europe , and North America . The Gloria world tour kicks off in the UK on April 12, with the first leg including two massive shows at London’s The O2. In North America, meanwhile, Smith will headline iconic venues, including Madison Square Garden and The Kia Forum.

Last week (January 11), Smith shared the latest track from their upcoming new album Gloria in “Gimme,” a collaboration with Jamaican reggae star Koffee and Colombian-Canadian R&B singer-songwriter Jessie Reyez . Describing the song as “filth,” the singer said: “I’m a sexual person, I like sex. It’s something I’m teaching myself to not be ashamed of. Me and Jessie were basically drunk, drinking whisky in Jamaica, two in the morning, running around absolutely wasted, like two girlfriends having a laugh.”

Gloria will be released in full on January 27 and will be preceded by Smith making their return to Saturday Night Live this weekend (21). Their latest appearance as musical guest on the US comedy show will be their third.

SAM Smith will return to Australia at the end of the year with a surgically-improved voice and upgraded venues.

The singer from London , 23-year-old Smith abruptly postponed his sold-out Australian shows in May after doctors diagnosed a vocal cord haemorraghe .

Smith will play Perth Arena on November 28, Adelaide Entertainment Centre on December 1, Qantas Credit Union Arena in Sydney on December 4, Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne on December 8 and Brisbane Entertainment Centre on December 12. All shows are all ages and in keeping with the low prices on the initial tour all tickets are priced at around $85.

Smith underwent surgery in the US last month and has cancelled all performances. He is due to resume touring at the start of July, health pending, then has a heavy schedule of dates all around the world until the end of September.

Fans who had tickets for Smith’s axed Australian shows will get first dibs at buying tickets for the rescheduled dates through a special pre-sale. Ticketek will contact ticket holders with full information.

Inked: Sam Smith visited Sydney tattoo artist Rhys Gordon before his vocal cord issues earlier this year.

The May tour was booked before Smith’s album dominated the Australian chart and was mainly in venues around 5000 capacity. Most venues on the rescheduled dates will be at least twice the size.

A pre-sale for Frontier Touring members starts on June 11 while tickets to the general public go on sale from 10am June 17.

Smith’s album In the Lonely Hour has sold over 210,000 copies in Australia and has passed the five million sales mark worldwide.

“The doctors have told me I need to fully rest until my vocal cords have healed, otherwise this could become a huge long-term issue,” Smith said in a statement at the time of axing the Australian dates including two songs on the Logies, which were later filled by Megan Trainor.

“I am so sorry to all who have bought tickets, I truly am. This kills me.”

Smith, who turned 23 last month, was successfully operated on in the US by Dr Steven Zeitels , who performed the same procedure on Adele and Lionel Richie. He has been unable to talk for three weeks after the operation and appeared on the Billboard Music Awards holding up placards with a thank you speech written on them.

The singer said on Twitter his first words after breaking his silence will be “f**k me that was s**t”.

December will now see Smith’s friends Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran crisscrossing the country around the same time.

News: Sam Smith Confirms Return To Australia

sam smith world tour australia

(AUS) Frontier Touring have confirmed that four-time Grammy winner Sam Smith will return to Australia this summer, performing in arenas across the country on his biggest tour yet.

“Australia, I am so so happy to finally have some good news for you.. I can now announce that my cancelled IN THE LONELY HOUR tour dates have been rescheduled!! I’m unbelievably excited to get back onstage and perform for you all again, and I promise it will be so much better than it would have been before when my voice was damaged. The past few months have been incredibly difficult, but the support, love and patience my fans have shown me is absolutely unreal. I am so grateful to every one of you. I can’t wait to see you all xxxx” – Sam Smith

Smith’s summer tour will begin at Perth Arena on Saturday 28 November before visiting Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane in early December. This will be Smith’s second headline tour of Australia, following his debut tour earlier this year which was unfortunately cut short following a vocal cord haemorrhage and subsequent surgery.

Smith’s career trajectory has been astounding; the transition from working seven days a week in a City of London bar just two years ago to becoming one of the biggest-selling artists in the world is testament to his strong work ethic, powerful vocals and inherent talent of translating universal emotions and experiences into cathartic masterpieces The 23-year-old Brit has gone from strength to strength since the release of his debut album In The Lonely Hour (out now through EMI Australia) which last week celebrated its one year anniversary and has sold more than eight million copies worldwide.

The record – filled with emotional anthems including ‘Stay With Me’ , ‘I’m Not The Only One’ and ‘Like I Can’ – has been in the top ten of the UK album chart since its release, having spent all but two weeks in the top five. Adding to the accolades, the ten-track release was the second highest-selling studio album of 2014 in both the United States and the United Kingdom.

Smith’s appeal shows no bounds with both critics and audiences in awe of Smith’s live show; his debut show at New York’s Madison Square Garden earlier this year sold out in just half an hour. Void of the gimmicks, pyrotechnics or special effects normally associated with an arena-sized production, Smith’s finely-tuned and emotion-filled vocals and warm persona fill the biggest of rooms.

GLORIA the tour will kick off at Adelaide Entertainment Centre, Adelaide on Saturday 28 October before heading to Rod Laver Arena, Melbourne on Tuesday 31 October, then Qudos Bank Arena, Sydney on Friday 3 November before Brisbane Entertainment Centre, Brisbane on Wednesday 8 November followed by a final stop at Spark Arena, Auckland on Saturday 11 November. Frontier Members will have access to pre-sale tickets on Monday 16 January ahead of the general public on sale on Wednesday 18 January.  Tickets and tour info: https://www.frontiertouring.com/samsmith Sam Smith is currently in Australia and will perform an exclusive concert floating above the vines at d’Arenberg Cube winery in McLaren Vale, South Australia tonight! With Adelaide being the first stop on the Australian leg of GLORIA the tour, it’s only fitting that the tour is launched in South Australia where Sam has been enjoying some of the state's best tourism experiences over the past few days.  Sam’s upcoming 13-track album, Gloria, will be their boldest statement yet and comes off the back of the huge success of the ARIA #1 single, ‘ Unholy ’ featuring Kim Petras. The smash hit is currently back at #1 on the ARIA singles chart this week, giving it five non-consecutive weeks at the top and has surpassed 1.3 billion streams globally with 36 million streams in Australia alone. “It feels like emotional, sexual and spiritual liberation” declares the most confident and creatively fulfilled version of Sam Smith the world has yet encountered.  “It feels like I’ve got my faith back, in my job.  So it was beautiful, with this album, to sing freely again, for me.  It feels like a coming of age”. Where Gloria is a pop album of sorts, it’s also progressive pop-art, from a pioneering, defiant, state-of-the-art pop star to be proud of.  “There is craftsmanship in what I do, and truth and real expression”, says Sam. “My diva album? I think so! I’ve finally let my Gloria out.” Since their No.1 debut album  In The Lonely Hour  (2014), Smith has amassed a constellation of glittering achievements: 36 million albums sold (including 1 million album sales in Australia across entire catalogue), 250 million singles, 49 billion multi-platform streams (1.19 billion total combined stream in Australia), four Grammys, three BRITs, six MOBOs, a Golden Globe, one Oscar, two No.1 albums, five No.1 singles, two No.1 singles as featured vocalist on club bangers from Naughty Boy (‘ La La La ’, 2013) and Calvin Harris (‘ Promises ’, alongside Jessie Reyez, 2018). Sam’s catalogue of smash hits include, ‘ Too Good At Goodbyes ’, ‘ I’m Not The Only One ’, ‘ Dancing With A Stranger ’ with Normani, ‘ Fire On Fire ’, ‘ Stay With Me ’, ‘ Like I Can ’, ‘ Love Me More ’, ‘ Diamonds ’, ‘ How Do You Sleep? ’, ‘ Pray ft. Logic ’, ‘ Love Goes ’, ‘ To Die For ’ and ‘ Unholy ’ with Kim Petras. With the release of Gloria, the new album and GLORIA the tour, it’s going to be an unstoppable 2023 for Sam.  Don’t miss Sam Smith live this October and November.  Tickets via:  https://www.frontiertouring.com/samsmith and November.

This concert was absolutely amazing! His voice was so angelic and he was so genuine and humble. Every time he smiled it melted my heart because you could tell how grateful he was and how much he loves his life and it was just so beautiful! Everyone was there to just have a good time and everyone was singing along and it was such an incredible environment. One of the best moments was when someone from the crowd threw a rainbow flag on the stage during his song “HIM” and he took it a waved it around while everyone cheered in support of gay rights, it was so amazing. He is so inspiring and honestly my favorite artist. This was hands down the best concert I’ve ever been to, and I never wanted it to end. One of the best nights of my life.

One of the best shows I’ve ever been to, so emotional and it still a happy show. When he played we could feel everything he was singing about, we felt his emotions. The whole concert was amazing, the opening show (Lewis Capaldi) was really good, love his voice and the songs he played. What I loved most about Sam Smith was the simplicity of his concert, there was no need for an elaborated scene, we’re there to see him and his singing, not a big show with a lot of dancing and decorations (not saying concerts who have that are bad, I actually really like them, what I mean is that he doesn’t need that to be great). Also, the decorations were so cool and amazing, and his speeches were simply beautiful and powerful LOVE IS LOVE!❤️

Everything about the show was amazing, ypu touch everyone in the auditorium. The songs you decided to sing were excellent and the feeling you put to every song you showed it in your eyes. After every song you smiled to the public and that made us more excited to be there and sometimes put tiers of excitement in our eyes. We could all related to your songs in different ways. You are an inspiration to me. I'm so happy I got the opportunity to see you after the show and get your autograph in my ticket and sweatshirt. That night it's going to be unforgettable for every person that was there that night and the night before. Hope I have the opportunity to see you again here in Mexico City.

'Doing something Unholy': Sam Smith breaks records and barriers with new music

Sam Smith is having a moment.

Their song Unholy may well be the song of the summer, reaching number one in the US, UK and Australian charts, as well as being the soundtrack to more than 2.4 million TikToks.

Their fourth album, Gloria, was released last Friday and is expected to storm up the charts.

Gigs on Saturday Night Live, Jimmy Fallon's Tonight Show and at the White House are all in the bag, and they're due to perform at the Grammys.

And, to top it off, the singer visited Australia for a couple of weeks and got to pat a koala.

"They were so soft and cute," Sam told News Breakfast, giggling.

If you've been in a bar, or on a dance floor, or spent much time on social media over the last couple of months you will have heard or seen Sam Smith.

The Brit first had a global hit ten years ago with the ballad Stay With Me , and became known as the reigning sovereign of heartache.

But Unholy has heralded a new era for the singer, not just comfortable in their own skin, but proud of their sexuality and gender (they came out as non-binary in 2019) and ready to party.

"'Unholy sounds like nothing else in popular music right now," Lars Brandle, Billboard's Australia correspondent, said of Gloria's second single.

"Its melody is magnificent, it's catchy, with slappy beats and touches of production ear candy."

And of course it has their magnificent, otherworldly voice — hitting high notes like honey - which Sam says they crafted by "just trying to be like Aretha."

Doing something Unholy

Unholy — a tale about a man who leaves his wife and kids at home to get up to "something unholy" — is notable not only because it's a banger, but for making Sam Smith the first out non-binary artist to reach number one in markets across the world.

Kim Petras, who features on the song and is due to headline World Pride in Sydney next month, is the first trans performer to hold the title.

"I've got to allow myself a little bit of a pat on the back, because it's an incredible thing, you know, to have made that many people dance," Sam said about the success of the song.

For the non-binary and gender diverse community it means so much more than just another party anthem.

"It's absolutely fantastic … for people to see trans people and non-binary people thriving," says Chris McAllister, founder of trans performance night Queers Of Joy, and board member of Trans Pride Australia.

"When I was growing up you didn't know a gender diverse person. It was seen as weird thing, like a mental health issue."

Person performing on stage, holding a microphone and wearing a black tank top. Another person is by their side.

Chris says Sam Smith is helping to normalise gender diversity on a global scale.

The millions of TikTokkers lip-syncing to Unholy may not all know their favourite artist is queer, but that can also be part of the point.

"It bodes well for the future, that it is normalised [through performers like Sam Smith].

"We won't need to educate kids. It will be something that is just normal."

Uncharted territory

Gloria is rich with themes and musical styles far beyond the heartache ballads Sam Smith made their name from.

"I just think that my first three records were really about heartbreak and sadness, and heartache became a really safe place for me. I'd go in the studio, and writing about that felt easy," Sam said.

"And so for me my challenge of this record … I wanted to write songs that had the felt joyful and felt strong, stronger in terms of the messaging and more confident."

Sam speaks of the album feeling like a liberation, and it's peppered with party songs filled with sexy desire, like Gimme  and the disco-inspired hook-up anthem I'm Not Here to Make Friends .

There's also a strong theme of self-love and acceptance, exemplified by the first single Love Me More and repeated again on the album on songs including Perfect.

"I definitely class myself as a recovering perfectionist," Sam says.

A person stands looking at the camera. They are in a navy blazer with black t-shirt underneath, short blond hair and earrings.

"I think that a lot of society has made us believe that we can have these perfect lives, and through TV and, and, you know, reality TV and social media, all these things. But life is just so much more messy than that."

Sam doesn't want to be seen as a role model – "I'm too flawed" — but inevitably has become one not only for queer and gender diverse people, but also for the body acceptance movement

Having previously had well-documented body image issues, the singer is now proudly flaunting their body on social media and in film clips.

Back to their roots

Sam's favourite song on the album is the title track, Gloria, a stunning hymn sung with a choir and recorded in a church in the town where they went to primary school.

"Gloria, for me is a spirit within me," Sam explains.

"It's my mum's voice. My sister's voice, my grandma, all the women within my life. I think it's the voice of all the divas I've studied and loved in pop music. And it's this feminine energy and voice that has always been in my music.

"And it really is a voice that says keep going you know, dust yourself off when when things get tough."

Gloria on tour

Things may get a little tough for Sam Smith, as they embark on a world tour in support of Gloria this year, including multiple dates in Australia in November, particularly as they have to leave their menagerie of animals at home.

The latest addition to the brood led by Velma the Bernadoodle is two tortoises, called Nutmeg and Paprika, that Sam got for Christmas.

A little of the melancholy Sam is so well known for emerges talking about their reason for wanting the famously long-lived animals.

"I want something to be on my deathbed with me, that's always been there. It would give me comfort," Sam said.

"I've always been a drama queen."

Sam's visit to Australia, where they performed a concert for a select group of a few hundred media and influencers paid for by the South Australian government, generating controversy for the SA Tourist Commission – which won't say how much Sam was paid – but that doesn't seem to have rubbed off on the performer themselves.

In fact, their January trip Down Under caused such a positive buzz, Unholy went back up to number one while they were here.

Lars Brandle from Billboard expects the album to do just as well.

"Expect Gloria to be a global, mainstream hit. There's a little something for everyone, and enough gems and surprises for repeat listens."

Chad Townsend 's move to the Sydney Roosters has raised plenty of eyebrows and one of those who was "really surprised" by the signing is Andrew Johns .

The club confirmed this week that Townsend would head to Bondi in 2025 on a one-year deal , likely acting as back-up to young guns Sam Walker and Sandon Smith.

Townsend is a premiership-winning playmaker with plenty of NRL experience, but is next to no chance of usurping Walker in the No.7 jumper at full-strength.

Smith on the other hand is a talented utility who came through the juniors as a half and is expected to take over the five-eighth spot from Luke Keary next year.

Townsend's impending arrival has divided opinions in the rugby league world, but according to Johns, the idea that the 33-year-old is heading to the Tricolours to "mentor" the in-form Walker is a strange one.

"I was really surprised," he said on Wide World of Sports' Immortal Behaviour .

"I've heard them talk about that he's going to mentor Sam Walker and Sandon Smith.

"Sam Walker doesn't need mentoring. He needs the other way, just leave him alone and let him play. He's a free spirit, you can not put too much information in Sam's head.

"Sandon Smith might be different - I don't know Sandon, I don't know what makes him tick - but already at the club you've got Cooper Cronk and Mitchell Pearce.

"I was really surprised, but I suppose it gives you back-up."

Townsend is expected to earn around $300,000 at the Chooks next season after three years at the Cowboys on a much larger contract.

Johns pointed out the new-look Roosters attack will be another downfall in Townsend's bid to play first grade when he arrives at the club for the 2025 campaign.

"He's playing reserve grade, he's not playing first grade if they are all fit," Johns said.

"Sam Walker is an on-ball halfback, he's like an old-fashioned halfback. They have changed the way they play. Victor Radley used to be like the halfback but he's moved to the edge and got Naufahu Whyte in the middle, he's just a runner.

"Sam needs a running five-eighth … Chad Townsend couldn't play five-eighth outside Sam Walker. I was really surprised, it really came from left-field.

"It's a bit of back-up for Sam, but I couldn't see them playing together."

Walker's own contract situation continues to be a hot topic as well, with the 22-year-old set to hit the open market in November if the Roosters fail to re-sign him.

Brisbane have been earmarked as a potential landing spot for Walker should he opt to leave the Chooks, especially given the likely retirement of Adam Reynolds next year.

Alex Morgan Alex Morgan

Sophia Smith Sophia Smith

Rachel Daly Rachel Daly

Sam Kerr Sam Kerr

sam smith world tour australia

Alex Popp Alex Popp

sam smith world tour australia

Basta ver abaixo.

sam smith world tour australia

Jenni Hermoso Jenni Hermoso

sam smith world tour australia

Alba Redondo Alba Redondo

sam smith world tour australia

Kadidiatou Diani Kadidiatou Diani

sam smith world tour australia

Alessia Russo Alessia Russo

Quem sabe as australianas e as neozelandesas consigam fazer algo a respeito...
