He arranged the yellow dhoti and then opened the jewelry box. The gold chain with red stones seemed perfect to compliment the Lord's yellow garbs and so, he chose that for the evening. With that, the Lord was ready to see his devotees. The other man in the room slowly opened the door as his senior picked a Pooja thali in one hand and rang the bell with the other. "Jai Sri Krishna" - he roared before he began his rhythmic chants. The crowd repeated in chorus and thus began the evening aarti at Shree Dwarkadhish Temple.

Beyt Dwarka is the first place I visited on my trip to Dwarka. We drove from my hotel towards the holy place 36 km away. 30 km on land and 5 km on the sea is what you need to cover before you set foot on the island of Beyt Dwarka also called Bet Dwarka and Shankhodhar.

We pass through the city of Dwarka which is locally called Gomti Dwarka on our left, Rukmini Temple on our right followed by vast stretches of dry land all around. Then came the hillocks of unprocessed salt – in shades of grey. Tata Chemicals – the producer of the popular salt brand Tata Salt has its manufacturing facility at Mithapur. Mithapur in Gujarati means salt city. There are Navy offices on the left and then we see the jetty full of colorful boats on our right.
