Canadian metal band Counterparts have been playing music together since 2007 and have been traveling internationally to perform their songs live for their fans. The band has had a bit of a roster change since their first inception, but the band currently consists of lead vocalist Brendan Murphy, guitarists Jesse Doreen and Adrian Lee and drummer Kelly Bilan.

Having had the opportunity to watch their live set, I can honestly say that their live performance is an experience worth having. The venue was a bit small, and the stage was really only a foot higher than the ground, but I think that that only added to the experience. Right off the bat, the band immediately starts playing their first song as soon as they pick up their instruments. They have a ridiculous energy that is rivaled by the energy of their fans. Speaking of fans, the band knows exactly what the fans want from them, and know how to play their part: midway through just the first song, Brendan Murphy jumps into the crowd to do some crowd surfing, an act that is completely supported by the fans. Another example of how the small venue made the experience better, because I really don’t think he would have made it back onto the stage with the timing that he did

I have been trying to see Counterparts live since 2011, but every time they would have a show in Pittsburgh since then, they would face either van troubles or something else out of their control. After watching every live video of them on YouTube and worshipping their albums, I can say that I was more disappointed with their performance last night than anything. Why you might ask? Vocalist Brendan Murphys voice is absolutely gone. Every verse is supposed to be screamed, but he only ended up screaming about 8 words a song, letting the fans yell it at him or just talking through the songs instead. Even though that was a huge letdown, it was still a memorable show because of their crushing instrumentals for all the songs, especially Compass. With the guitarists playing opposite polyrhythmic scales exceptionally well, just like on the albums. If you are thinking about going to see counterparts, definitely do it. Who knows how much longer until Brendan murphys voice is unusable?

Counterparts show was incredible. They are one of the most talented bands, across the genre spectrum. They’re super energetic and fun to listen to/watch. I literally couldn’t stop moving while they played. It was too good. Hardcore dancers are hilariously entertaining too. (I’m generally more of a fast punk rock mosher, myself). I can’t wait to see them again. Thanks to the band for being so amazing.

Music | da linda stanley to be disbarred over misconduct during barry morphew prosecution, state board rules, things to do, music | childish gambino postpones denver concert, entire north american tour, the rapper and “atlanta” star said he’s focusing on his physical health.

That and more than a dozen other concerts on the tour are being postponed so the 40-year-old can focus on his health, Glover wrote online Monday.

“Hey everyone. Unfortunately I have to postpone the rest of the North American tour to focus on my physical health for a few weeks. Hold onto your tickets. ALL tickets will be honored for the upcoming dates in North America when they are rescheduled. Thanks for the privacy. Thanks for the support. Thanks for the love,” the “Atlanta” star posted on X .

Despite his urging, ticketholders for The New World Tour will have to reach out for potential refunds, as they won’t be automatically offered; see ticketmaster.com for more details.

The show is the second in a row that Glover has postponed in Denver, following a 2018 incident in which he broke his foot in Dallas not long before the Colorado show.

The tour started about a month ago, on Aug. 11, in Oklahoma City, and continues later this year in Europe, the U.K. and Ireland, New Zealand, and Australia.

Several other major artists have canceled tours that included stops in Denver this year, or Denver appearances specifically. They include Drake , the Black Keys, Jennifer Lopez, and Neil Young.

Refused announce 2025 North American farewell tour as singer Dennis Lyxzén recovers from heart attack

Swedish hardcore punk heroes Refused will tour North America one last time before calling it a day in 2025

Swedish hardcore punk band Refused band photo

Refused have announced a farewell North American tour for 2025 as singer Dennis Lyxzén recovers from a massive heart attack.

The vocalist, 51, had a heart attack in June of this year, causing the band to pull out of a festival appearance in Sweden.

Now, with Lyxzén on the mend, the band have announced 14 North American dates for next year with Quicksand in support and confirmed these will be their farewell to the United states and Canada.

They have also suggested they'll bid farewell to fans elsewhere over the course of 2025, finishing in their homeland of Sweden.

Drummer David Sandström says: "In the beginning of this year we started making plans to have one last big hurrah, to make the end of the band a fun, generous, indulgent affair. And that's how it felt after the first show. It's the best we've ever sounded and we were really enjoying ourselves, tossing in old songs we haven't played since the nineties and even a Misfits cover.

"And then disaster struck. I visited Dennis in the hospital the day after he was admitted and true to form he was not happy about the hospital gown he was forced to wear.

"So on to the good news: Dennis is doing great. He's one of the healthiest dudes I know. He can't sit still, exercises a lot and it follows that his recuperation would be swift. He's gotten excellent care and his doctor has run all the physical tests on him and they all indicate he's making a full recovery.

"Needless to say, he's itching to get back on tour to play shows and he even suggested we should keep preliminary dates set up for the late fall and winter, but we decided to postpone those shows and instead start up in the spring.

"So yeah, that's where we're at. We're coming to the U.S. in March/April 2025 and we're looking at what else we can do with the rest of the year, all we know is that we want to finish back home in Sweden at the end of the year."

Heart announce rescheduled North American tour dates after Ann Wilson’s cancer treatment

"We were just starting to fire on all cylinders and the vibe was entirely MAJOR. To be continued…"

Heart have announced their newly rescheduled North American tour dates for 2025 – see the full list of dates below.

Yesterday (September 9), the veteran rock band took to social media to announce their 2025 tour dates across North America, which were rescheduled after the band postponed all 2024 performances in July for singer Ann Wilson to undergo cancer treatment .

It came after the band postponed a string of shows for Ann to undergo a “time-sensitive” medical procedure in late May . In July, Ann Wilson revealed that the procedure was to remove something that “as it turns out, was cancerous”.

Heart's Ann Wilson performs live in January 2024

The band’s Nancy Wilson said in a statement per Consequence about the new tour dates: “We are so so excited to resume this tour. We were just starting to fire on all cylinders and the vibe was entirely MAJOR. To be continued…”

The tour will kick off in late February, and will run until early April with stops in Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Vancouver, Buffalo, Montreal and more. Tickets are now available for purchase via Ticketmaster – previously purchased tickets will be honoured at the newly rescheduled dates.

Heart’s 2025 North American tour dates are:

APRIL 02 – Montreal, QC – Bell Centre 04 – Ottawa, ON – Canadian Tire Centre 05 – Québec, QC – Videotron Centre

In late May, Wilson and Heart announced that their  European shows would be cancelled as the singer had to undergo “time-sensitive” medical procedures . At the time, the nature of the procedure was unknown, but they shared that Wilson’s expected recovery time would be six weeks. Heart wrapped up their first leg of their North American tour with Cheap Trick in late April and May.

In April, the band teamed up with Jimmy Fallon to perform the ’80s hit ‘Total Eclipse of the Heart’ to mark April 8th’s solar eclipse. Most of North America and Mexico witnessed the spectacle for the first time since 2017. A total solar eclipse occurs when the moon lines up perfectly between the Earth and the sun, blocking out the sunlight. North America won’t see the celestial event again for 21 years.

The Swedish post-hardcore greats will also reissue their landmark album The Shape of Punk to Come on November 8 for its 25th anniversary, including a 3xLP version with unreleased demos and rare alternate versions, plus an album of covers by artists including Fucked Up , Idles , Touché Amoré , Quicksand, Zulu , and Gel . Dubbed The Shape of Punk to Come Obliterated , that and the reissue are out November 8 via Epitaph . Check out the covers album’s tracklist below, along with the Refused Are F**king Dead Tour dates.

TechCrunch demoed an incomplete version of Apple’s forthcoming Hearing Test app following Apple’s "Glowtime" event on Monday. The test shares key similarities with its clinical predecessors, prompting people to tap the display when they first hear gradually rising tones of different frequencies. Hearing Test will be built into iOS 18, though Apple is currently awaiting FDA approval for both it and the newly announced hearing aid feature before launch. Users must have mild to moderate hearing loss in order to enable the hearing aid feature, though that diagnosis doesn’t have to come directly from the app.

Nancy and Ann Wilson of Heart perform live at 'Women Rock!: Girls & Guitars' at the Wiltern Theater, Los Angeles, Ca. 10/12/00. The concert was held to raise awareness for the fight against breast cancer and will air on the Lifetime channel sunday, october 22, 2000. Photo by Kevin Winter/ImageDirect.

Heart have rescheduled the remainder of their North American “Royal Flush” tour dates for 2025 after lead singer  Ann Wilson underwent surgery to remove a cancerous presence in her body.

Following the surgery, doctors advised her to undergo preventative chemotherapy, and as part of her recovery and treatment, Wilson was instructed to take a year off from performing to fully recover. The band announced it will return on Feb. 28 in Las Vegas’ Fontainebleau, with 18 stops planned in cities including Los Angeles, Phoenix, Portland, Knoxville, along with Montreal, Ottawa and Québec.

Refused announce final North American tour dates, to release 'Shape of Punk to Come' tribute album

Refused

”We were supposed to do this in June. Roll out our modest farewell run, starting with the Rosendal Garden Party in Stockholm and then doing some light touring before calling it quits end of year. The rehearsals had been magnificent, the vibe was great and two days before the show we played a warm up show at Kulturhuset Femman in Uppsala. There were no pictures or video taken but it was a great show in front of maybe 60 local scenesters. We hung out afterwards, I had a few beers and me and Dennis, still vegan and basically straight edge, traded stupid stories about bands we love. It was a fine evening. Next morning I get a call from Dennis’ wife and a couple of tumultuous hours later it’s confirmed that he’s had a heart attack at the hotel. […]We gave it several shots between 2012 and 2024. We all have different takes on how it went and what the legacy of the reformed band will be, but personally I felt we couldn’t quite agree on what we were supposed to do musically, and we were still struggling with that when the pandemic hit. Kristofer felt that he’d done what he wanted to do and left the band in august of 2020 and although there was a delayed effect to the death blow, a death blow it was. So in the beginning of this year we started making plans to have one last big hurrah, to make the end of the band a fun, generous, indulgent affair. And that’s how it felt after the first show, it’s the best we’ve ever sounded and we were really enjoying ourselves, tossing in old songs we haven’t played since the nineties and even a Misfits cover. And then disaster struck. I visited Dennis in the hospital the day after he was admitted and true to form he was not happy about the hospital gown he was forced to wear. Hooked up to all these machines, unshaven with tousled hair, I swear the first thing he said was: (pointing to the gown) 'I mean, this is not great.' I guess they don’t let you wear suits or Negative Approach t-shirts in the hospital. So on to the good news: Dennis is doing great. He’s one of the healthiest dudes I know, he can’t sit still, exercises a lot and it follows that his recuperation would be swift. He’s gotten excellent care and his doctor has run all the physical tests on him and they all indicate he’s making a full recovery. Needless to say, he’s itching to get back on tour to play shows and he even suggested we should keep preliminary dates set up for the late fall and winter, but we decided to postpone those shows and instead start up in the spring. So yeah, that’s where we’re at. We’re coming to the US in March/April 2025 and we’re looking at what else we can do with the rest of the year, all we know is that we want to finish back home in Sweden at the end of the year. Let us know if there are songs you want us to play and we’ll give them a shot. Hope to see you out there.”

Tickets for this final run go on sale on September 13.

Along with this news, the band has announced that they will be releasing two versions of their 1998 album The Shape of Punk to Come to celebrate its 25th anniversary. The first version of the album comes with previously unreleased demos and alternate versions of songs. The second album is a tribute album called The Shape of Punk to Come Obliterated which features covers of each of the songs by bands including Touché Amoré , Gel , Fucked Up , Zulu , Snapcase , and IDLES . Check out the band’s post in full along with the dates and tribute album tracklist below.
