Come along with us to discover the closed city from Punta Cana! Higüey city, Head city of La Altagracia Province. The tour starts by taking an AC van from your hotel to go to the countryside, to visit a traditional countryside house, where you will have the opportunity of seeing the coffee and cocoa plantations, as well as the process to prepare them. Degustation of some exotic tropical fruits, coffee, chocolate and produced right there. You can also buy some organic products from them. Just after that our expert tour guide will take you to Higüey City, to know its history and culture. Once there, you will visit the San Dionisio church, with over 500 years old, built in the 1512. We will also visit The Basilica of La Altagracia church, built in the 1950 s, visited by people from all over the world.

• Description

Let´s go to explore the close city from Punta Cana (Higüey city) with our expert tour guides will take you through the historic part of the it to learn a little bit of its culture and development. Once there, you will also visit the colonial-style San Dionisio church, dating back more than 500 years. Then, The Basilica of La Altagracia church, only inaugurated in 1971 but featuring an altar painting of the Virgin Mary dating from the 16th century. Following our visit, we will then head to the countryside, where we will be invited to a traditional local countryside home, where you will see coffee and cocoa plantations, as well as the process of making them. Taste some exotic fruits, coffee and chocolate prepared right there. You can also buy organic cocoa, coffee, and local souvenirs right there. What to bring: cash money for shopping, sun lotion.

Best way to do this tour. cheap price, but good service. Loved the countryside better than the city itself. Bring your family and show them really coffee and cocoa plantations. you can walk inside the coffee plantation. you feel real countryside pure air.

A la hora que escojáis, os recogeremos en vuestro hotel de Punta Cana. Apenas una hora después llegaremos a Higüey : la capital de la provincia dominicana de La Altagracia.

Visitaremos en primer lugar un rancho, donde realizaremos un paseo a caballo. ¡La mejor forma de comenzar el día! Tras contemplar los paisajes naturales de Higüe a lomos de un caballo, nos acercaremos a la Basílica-Catedral de Nuestra Señora de La Altagracia . Veremos los exteriores de este moderno santuario, ubicado en pleno centro de Higüey, está consagrado a una de las vírgenes más veneradas por los dominicanos. Durante la visita por el templo apreciaremos su singular arquitectura. 

Continuaremos la excursión en el Mercado de Higüey , donde veremos la gran variedad de frutas exóticas de sus puestos. ¿No os parece el mejor lugar para cargar pilas? Disfrutaremos de un completo almuerzo tradicional dominicano en el mercado. Con este buen sabor de boca, seguiremos el tour aprendiendo sobre las importantes industrias de café, cacao y tabaco. 

Para ello, nos adentraremos en una  fábrica de tabaco . ¿Sabéis cómo se hace este producto tan típico? Conoceremos las principales técnicas en esta casa artesanal que lleva elaborando puros a mano desde hace generaciones. ¡Os sorprenderá!

Por último, nos desplazaremos hasta la paradisíaca playa Macao , en la que realizaremos una breve parada fotográfica. Finalmente, os llevaremos hasta vuestro hotel y daremos por terminado el recorrido cuatro horas más tarde.

VIDEO | Intrant multa a Caribe Tours por manejo temerario de uno de sus conductores

La empresa de transporte canceló al chofer, que también fue multado por la Digesett

El Instituto Nacional de Tránsito y Transporte Terrestre ( Intrant ) multó al pago de un  salario  mínimo a la empresa  Caribe Tours , al detectar que el  vehículo  en el que se desplazaba el  conductor  denunciado en las redes sociales por manejar de forma temeraria no figura dentro de los  registros  de la entidad para transporte interurbano.

La manera imprudente de conducir del chofer, cuyo nombre no se reveló, se vio en la carretera hacia Puerto Plata.

El Intrant explicó que, según la Ley 63-17, en su artículo 49, sobre obligaciones, los prestadores del servicio público de transporte terrestre de pasajeros tienen "las obligaciones de homologar y habilitar técnicamente la totalidad de los vehículos asignados a los servicios, detectándose que la empresa  Caribe Tours  no presentó en su listado el  vehículo  modelo Volvo, de placa 1105322, color blanco, año 2012, por lo que no figura en los  registros ", destacó.

Dijo que amparado en el citado artículo y considerando el 281 de la referida Ley, multó a la compañía al pago de un  salario  mínimo.

Conductor cancelado por Caribe Tour 

El conductor , que se hizo viral en un video en las redes sociales en el cual se advierte un manejo temerario en la carretera hacia Puerto Plata, fue multado por la Dirección General de Seguridad de Tránsito y Transporte Terrestre ( Digesett ) y también desvinculado por la empresa Caribe Tours , para la cual laboraba.

Al informar sobre la cancelación del chofer, Caribe Tours argumentó que "la administración ha procedido como corresponde en estos casos, desvinculando a dicho conductor por violar el protocolo de manejo establecido por la institución".

Pide disculpa a la población

Caribe Tour pidió  disculpas  a la población y valoró este tipo de  denuncias .

" Caribe Tours  no tolera este tipo de  acciones  que violan los  principios  de la misma y cada vez que surgen  denuncias  en tal sentido, luego de verificarlas, procede inmediatamente a aplicar severas sanciones a los  responsables ", indicó.

En tanto que la Digesett hizo un llamado a los  conductores  a ser  responsables  en la vía y manejar de acuerdo a la Ley 63-17 y las disposiciones establecidas por las autoridades competentes.
