Our CEO started the business with a small Yacht after winning some national championships in different classes of sailing boats. At first we were only able to have small groups who wanted to learn and feel exactly what sailing is about. A few years later, our CEO became a boat builder, and the company started to grow. We built a Catamaran with a larger capacity, 2 Sailing Yachts and now we also have a Power Boat specially made for dolphin search. One of the most popular activities while on holiday in Albufeira is to join one of the many varied boat tours.

These tours range from thrilling jet boat rides through to relaxing coastline tours or sea-bound speed boat trips searching for dolphins.

There is also a variety in the length of the boat trips, with shorter 2.5hour trips just to Benagil cave or whole day excursions that include lunch on deserted beaches.

With a host of different tour companies and the many styles of boat - there is an overwhelming choice for your boat trip from Albufeira. This huge selection quickly diminishes in the peak summer months, as the best tours sell out fast, and compromises have to be made for last-minute bookings. The different styles of Albufeira boat tours

The majority of the shorter boat tours (2-4hours) have either one of two aims; to see the dolphins or to visit Algar de Benagil (Benagil cave)

Algar de Benagil is a spectacular sea cave with a sandy beach inside and an opening in the roof that allows sunlight to stream in. Benagil cave is the most famous natural feature of the Algarve and is 15km to the west of Albufeira. Found along this section of coastline (between Armação de Pêra and Carvoeiro) are many other magnificent cliff formations, including sea caves, cove beaches and sea pillars, and this stunning shoreline is best seen by boat.

Dolphins are frequently seen along the Algarve coastline, as they are travelling between the warm waters of the Mediterranean Sea and the food-rich Atlantic Ocean off the western coastline of Portugal. This means there are many pods of dolphins passing within 7km of Albufeira daily, and sightings are almost assured.

Note: The Portuguese are respectful to the dolphins; they keep boats at safe distances and never harass or stress these wonderful animals.

To see the dolphins, fast boats are needed to cover the distance and to catch up with them, and the tour companies use RIB boats, jet boats or speed boats. These speed boat dolphin trips include a brief tour of the coastline, and are typical 2.5hours long.

The tours of just the coastline use larger boats and provide a much more relaxing and social trip. Often there is a bar on board, there will be decent commentary, and there is less of the nauseating speeding through huge waves. The coastline tours also last around 2.5 hours (so as to get two trips in per day).

The full-day trips tours explore a bit more of the coastline, and then head to a "private" beach for a lunchtime BBQ. The afternoon is often spent on this quieter beach. Insight: The boat tour companies are only allowed to provide lunch on a beach which is inaccessible from the cliff tops. This is sometimes cleverly marketed as a "private beach" - it is only private because it is inaccessible, there are no private beaches in Portugal.

So before booking your boat tour, consider…..

Do you want to see the dolphins? You will have a 95% chance of seeing them, but it will involve at least an hour speeding through huge Atlantic waves.

Do you want to go on a speed boat or rib-boat? A speed boat will be fast and exciting, but you may feel seasick. A smaller RIB-boat can get closer to the cliffs, but you will get wet, and these tours tend to sell out first.

Do you want a full day tour? It provides lunch, a deserted beach and a more relaxed pace, but technically everything can be seen in just 3 hours.

Do you want a specialist boat? There are sailing yachts, glass-bottom boats, "pirate ships", and a multitude of other specialist boats – each fantastic for their target market, but you will be paying more for the gimmick.

Getting the most from your Albufeira boat tour

The boat tours from Albufeira are some of the best activities of the region, but there are some factors you should be aware of.

The weather is always the biggest consideration for a boat tour. Never book anything until you can confirm that the weather is good. There can be massive waves that roll in from the Atlantic, and any wind will make them even larger. These large waves can make entering Benagil cave impossible for some of the bigger tour boats.

The speed boat tours are exciting, but on every tour, there are a number of passengers who are seasick. If you are prone to seasickness, avoid the dolphin tours and just stick to the calmer coastline tours.

The BBQ lunches provide a decent selection of food, but the choice becomes more limited if you have food requirements (don't eat fish, vegetarian or vegan).

The sea is very chilly, as it flows in from the Atlantic – even in the summer, it only reaches 20C. Some of the tours promote "a chance to swim" but realistically, this is just a jump in, freeze and climb out.

Albufeira Marina

All of the boat tours depart from Albufeira Marina, which is to the far west of Albufeira. This is a 20-minute walk from the centre of the Old Town or 5km from the Strip in Albufeira New Town.

You will most likely need a taxi or Uber to travel to the marina. At 10am - the check-in time for the morning boat tours - there is always high demand for taxis/Ubers in the peak season.

Always arrive early as the boat tours depart promptly. During the peak season, each of the boats will be used for multiple tours, and they won't wait for late passengers – and you won't be getting a refund for missing a boat tour.

Each of the tour companies has a reception or meeting point along the marina front, and your ticket will state the tour company you are travelling with. At the marina are a section of cafes, restaurants and decent toilet facilities.

1 – visita praia da coelha, la playa más hermosa de albufeira.

Hay muchas playas hermosas en Albufeira . De las cuales, Praia da Coelha está en la cima de mi lista.

Situado a unos 6Km al oeste del Casco Antiguo de Albufeira, Playa del Conejo es una playa impresionante rodeada de acantilados amarillos, arena dorada con conchas marinas y aguas cristalinas de color turquesa.

Esa playa de Bandera Azul, tiene tiene aguas tranquilas, extraordinarias formaciones rocosas y paisajes muy pintorescos. Hay también socorristas, un restaurante, Stand Up Paddle Boarding y sillas de playa y sombrillas de alquiler.

Las pasarelas de madera le llevan a la parte occidental de la playa desde donde se puede llegar a las secciones de Praia da Coelha que son más aisladas y tranquilas.

Hay un enorme aparcamiento, un restaurante, un quiosco de venta de ropa de playa y recuerdos, deportes acuáticos con buenos precios, sillas de playa y sombrillas de alquiler e incluso un masajista. No son permitidos perros, caravanas ni campings.

San Rafael es accesible para sillas de ruedas, muy popular entre los lugareños, turistas y familias con niños. Pero también puedes permanecer en la segunda sección, que tiene más sombra debido a los acantilados y es mucho más tranquila.

El mirador de la playa de San Rafael es una popular atracción de Albufeira y ofrece unas vistas impresionantes. Pero tenga cuidado al subir en los acantilados debido al riesgo de erosión y caída.

3 – Pasee por el Casco Antiguo

¡Un viaje a Albufeira no puede ser completar sin visitar su Casco Antiguo!

Con calles empedradas, casas encaladas y de azulejos, museos, callejones encantadores, pintorescas iglesias, plazas animadas y una gran variedad de restaurantes, tiendas, bares y pubs, el Casco Antiguo de Albufeira es el corazón de la ciudad.

Las calles principales, Rua 25 de Abril y 05 de Outubro, y plazas, Largo Eng. Duarte Pacheco y 25 de Abril, son los lugares más concurridos del Casco Antiguo, por lo que después de caminar por ellos, sugiero que encuentres calles más estrechas y tranquilas para un ambiente más relajado.

También debes contemplar la vista panorámica desde Miradouro do Pau da Bandeira y Peneco, dos atracciones famosas, y caminar hasta las playas, especialmente Praia dos Pescadores, una playa icónica de Albufeira.

Ya sea que vayas durante el día o por la noche, hay mucho lo que ver en el Casco Antiguo de Albufeira.

4 – Explora la costa algarvia en barco

La mejor manera de explorar la impresionante costa del Algarve es sin duda en barco.

Y esa es la razón por la que cuando estés en el Algarve, no debes perderte la oportunidad de navegar a lo largo de hermosos paisajes y descubrir cuevas marinas, grutas, calas escondidas y magníficas formaciones rocosas desde la perspectiva del barco.

Hay varios paseos en barco que se pueden hacer durante tu estancia en Albufeira y las opciones más populares son: Crucero de 2,5 horas con delfines y cuevas , Crucero de 6 horas y barbacoa en la playa y Crucero de medio día a las cuevas de Benagil y delfines .

Pero si tú estás buscando cosas entretenidas para hacer en Albufeira con los niños, mi recomendación es tomar el Crucero Pirata .

Los tours comienzan a partir de 35 euros y las reservas con antelación son muy recomendables, especialmente durante la temporada alta.

5 – Tomar una copa al atardecer en Restaurante Pedras Amarelas

Si estás buscando el mejor lugar para estar al atardecer en Albufeira, Restaurante Pedras Amarelas es la respuesta.

El Pedras Amarelas es un bar y restaurante de playa situado en Praia da Galé, 4,35Km al oeste del Casco Viejo de Albufeira, que sirve cocina mediterránea y portuguesa.

El restaurante, bellamente renovado, cuenta con una moderna zona de comedor principal con cristales de piso a techo, una elegante terraza en la azotea con sombrillas, tumbonas, fiestas de luna llena, actuaciones en directo y vistas sensacionales.

Me encanta ir a Pedras Amarelas para ver la puesta de sol.

La última vez que estuve allí, un DJ estaba actuando, pedimos unas sangrías, vimos el sol bajando y el cielo siendo pintado con vibrantes tonos de oro. ¡Fue mágico y emocionante!

6 – Disfruta de la animada vida nocturna

Si te gusta salir de fiesta, te encantarás Albufeira.

La ciudad tiene la noche más caliente del Algarve con una gran cantidad de bares y clubes que atraen especialmente a los lugareños y turistas jóvenes.

Lo mejor de la vida nocturna de Albufeira es que se puede ir a dos zonas diferentes de la ciudad: el Casco Viejo, donde se puede encontrar un montón de bar con actuaciones en vivo y entretenimiento; y la «Rua dos Bares», una avenida de 2 Km llena de luces de neón, cafés, restaurantes, bares temáticos y nightclubs.

Algunos de los bares y discotecas más famosas de Albufeira son: Matt’s Bar, Wild & Co, Le Club, Kiss y Club Vida.

Yo personalmente prefiero el Casco Antiguo donde se puede caminar y ver artistas cantando en la calle con la gente reuniéndose y cantando junto. La multitud también es un poco mayor y la noche no se vuelve tan «loca y salvaje» como en la Calle de los Bares.

Ambas partes se vuelven más llenas desde las 9 – 10PM y van hasta las 3 – 4AM.

7 – Descubra nuevas playas

Me encanta las playas, y una de mis cosas favoritas que hacer en Albufeira es descubrir nuevas playas.

La ciudad es el hogar de 25 playas de Bandera Azul, el número más alto en cualquier lugar de Europa. Otra gran cosa de Albufeira es que algunas de sus mejores playas están muy cerca unas de las otras, por lo que puedes visitar varias en una sola vez.

Ya sea que decida explorar la costa este o oeste, encontrarás impresionantes playas rodeadas de imponentes acantilados, con arena dorada y aguas turquesas cristalinas.

Tú puedes comenzar en Praia da Galé, situada a 7Km al oeste del Casco Antiguo de Albufeira, y caminar durante unas 2 horas hasta Praia dos Arrifes. O caminar 25 minutos desde Praia de São Rafael hasta Praia da Coelha.

8 – Ir de compras

Con una gran variedad de boutiques, tiendas de recuerdos y regalos, joyerías, librerías, un bonito centro comercial y mercados gitanos concurridos, te sentirás muy tentado(a) a ir de compras.

Tú puedes comprar algo de ropa para ti o como regalo, accesorios de playa como sombreros y gafas de sol, bolsos hechos a mano, relojes, joyas de diseño, imanes, azulejos, etc.

Me gusta mucho ir de compras en Albufeira, ya sea en el casco antiguo o en el Albufeira Shopping. Siempre compro trajes de baño, pantalones cortos para mí, e imanes, manteles y toallas de mesa para regalos. A la gente siempre le encanta.

Ir de compras en Albufeira es divertido y es una actividad para toda la familia. Los precios son muy buenos.

9 – Visita Praia da Falésia, una de las mejores playas de Europa

Con casi 6Km, Praia da Falésia es la playa de Albufeira más larga y se extiende desde Olhos d’Agua, en el lado este de la ciudad, hasta el municipio de Vilamoura.

El contraste entre los acantilados de arena roja y blanca oscura cubierto por pinos verdes y el cielo azul lo convierte en una de las playas más singulares de Albufeira.

Ver la «pared larga» formada por los acantilados de diferentes colores, formas y alturas me hace apreciar aún más la grandeza de la Madre Naturaleza.

La Playa da Falésia es perfecta para largas caminatas, tomar el sol y practicar deportes acuáticos como kayak, surf , esquí acuático y parasailing.

Praia da Falésia es una playa de bandera azul y ha sido clasificada varias veces por Trip Advisor como una de las mejores playas de Portugal y también de Europa.

10 – Ve a observar delfines

Los delfines se ven constantemente en el Océano Atlántico y una de las mejores cosas que ver en Albufeira con niños es avistar delfines.

Estas adorables y juguetonas criaturas son algunos de los animales marinos más queridos y nada es mejor que verlos en su hábitat natural, nadando y saltando frente a ti.

Las especies más comunes de delfines que se pueden encontrar alrededor de la costa del Algarve son: Nariz de botella, Común, Rayado, de Risso y Listado.

Los tours de delfines se ofrecen en Algarve de marzo a noviembre, aunque los mejores meses para ver delfines son de junio a septiembre.

Un tour cuesta una media de 35 euros y dura entre 1 y 3 horas. Los niños pagan un precio más bajo en general. La mayoría de los tours de delfines salen del puerto deportivo de Albufeira, y le recomiendo encarecidamente que reserve tu recorrido con antelación aquí .

11 – Lleve a tu hijo a un parque acuático

Con un montón de toboganes, túneles, colchones inflables, boyas gigantes, piscinas de olas y fuentes, pasar el día en uno de los parques acuáticos de la Costa Dorada es sin duda una de las cosas más divertidas que hacer en Albufeira, tanto para niños como para adultos.

Los cuatro mejores parques acuáticos del Algarve son: Slide & Splash, Aquashow, Zoomarine y Aqualand .

Zoomarine, en Guía, municipio de Albufeira, probablemente el mejor y más hermoso, también ofrece actuaciones en vivo, un espectáculo de delfines e interacciones con esos animales.

La primera vez que fui a un parque acuático fue en julio de 2019. Mi familia y yo fuimos a Slide & Splash y lo pasamos muy bien.

12 – Haz deportes acuáticos

El Algarve está bendecido con fantásticas condiciones para los deportes acuáticos, con más de 300 días de sol al año y vientos térmicos regulares.

Así que, naturalmente, una de las mejores cosas que hace en esa región es darse un chapuzón en el mar y hacer deportes acuáticos.

La mayoría de las playas de Albufeira ofrecen diversas opciones de deportes acuáticos, pero las del centro, así como Playa de San Rafael, Galé, Santa Eulália y Falésia tienen más opciones.

Desde paseos en flotadores hasta kayak , jet ski , Stand-up Paddle Boarding, surf , parasailing , coasteering , etc., no hay razón para no participar en algún tipo de actividad acuática mientras estás en Albufeira.

6 – Haz una excursión de un día a Lagos

Cuando estés en Albufeira, no debes perderte la oportunidad de conocer la ciudad de Lagos, uno de los mejores lugares para visitar en el Algarve.

Esta antigua ciudad marina, cuya historia se remonta a más de 2000 años, tiene algunas de las playas más bellas y famosas del mundo. En el municipio también hay una gran variedad de restaurantes y bares.

Podrás explorar el encantador e importante Casco Antiguo de Lagos, visitar el Mercado de Escravos, la iglesia barroca de San Antonio, Forte da Bandeira, el Castillo de Lagos y ver los restos de las antiguas murallas de la ciudad.

Después de visitar el centro de la ciudad, es hora de explorar una de las mejores costas del mundo.

Tú debes ver Praia Doña Ana y Ponta da Piedade, las dos playas más famosas de Lagos, y también Praia do Camilo, una de mis favoritos en el Algarve.

14 – Come mucha comida algarvia

Al visitar un nuevo destino, además del deseo de ver atracciones turísticas famosas y tener experiencias memorables, también hay la curiosidad de degustar platos locales y diferentes.

Mientras estés el Algarve, no debes perder la oportunidad de degustar la gastronomía portuguesa.

Algunos de los platos que debes probar al visitar el Algarve son:

• Bacalhau à Brás (patatas fritas, bacalao y perejil mezclados con huevos);
• Cataplana de mariscos (mezcla de mariscos con hierbas, tomates y vino blanco);
• Enchidos (salchichas ahumadas llenas de diferentes ingredientes);
• Sardinas a la brasa;
• Pastéis de nata (las famosas tartas portuguesas de natillas).

Me encanta Cataplana de mariscos y Pastéis de nata. Cada vez que estoy en Algarve como mucho.

15 – Haz una degustación de vinos

Los vinos portugueses han ganado fama, reconocimiento y múltiples premios en todo el mundo.

Más conocido por el Porto, el vino fortificado que se produce en la región del Doro (norte del país), Portugal también produce otros tipos brillantes de vinos.

A pesar de que el Algarve sólo ha comenzado a revitalizar su sector vitivinicultora en los últimos años, tú puedes hacer un recorrido por los viñedos y descubrir las mejores bodegas de la región.

Durante el tour de cata de vinos también puedes explorar la pintoresca campiña Algarvia, sitios históricos e incluso algunas playas. Hay un montón de opciones, y puedes comprobarlas todas aquí.

16 – Renueva tu fe en la Igreja Matriz

Construida en el siglo XVIII en estilo neoclásico, la iglesia Igreja Matriz de Nossa Senhora da Conceição presenta una sola nave con cuatro altares, un techo de bóveda de cañón y obras de arte notables, incluido un imponente arco triunfal con la imagen de la santa patrona de Albufeira, Nuestra Señora de la Concepción.

Pero el verdadero interés reside en la estatua de Nuestra Señora de Orada, la patrona de los pescadores de Albufeira. Cada agosto hay un festivo religioso con oraciones, Eucaristía, conciertos, procesiones (incluyendo una marítima desde la Marina hasta Praia do Inatel) y fuegos artificiales.

Si visitas Albufeira en las dos primeras semanas de agosto, puedes participar de esas celebraciones. En cualquier otra época del año, tú puedes hacer una visita a esa graciosa iglesia cuando esté en el Casco Antiguo.

17 – Conozca la historia de Albufeira en el Museu Municipal de Arqueologia

Este museo está situado en el centro histórico, a poca distancia a pie de la Igreja Matriz de Nossa Senhora da Conceição, en un edificio de dos plantas con vistas al mar.

La colección está estrechamente ligada a la historia de Albufeira y se divide en cuatro secciones: Pre-historia, Período Romano, Período Islámico y La Edad Moderna.

Un hecho curioso es que la colección principal fue reunida por un sacerdote, el padre José Manuel Semedo de Azevedo, e incluye un jarrón neolítico que data del año 5000 A.C., un conjunto de elementos arquitectónicos y artefactos de la Villa Romana da Retorta y la antigua iglesia parroquial de Albufeira, así como algunas piezas de origen desconocida encontradas en la ciudad.

El Museo Municipal de Arqueología de Albufeira está abierto de martes a domingo, cuesta solo 1 euro y la visita dura entre 20 y 60 minutos.

18 – Visita la colorida Marina de Albufeira

La vibrante Marina de Albufeira, construida en 2009 y situada a unos 1,7Km al oeste del Casco Antiguo de Albufeira, es considerada uno de los mejores puertos deportivos del país.

Este galardonado puerto deportivo cuenta con 475 puestos de amarre para todas las clases de embarcaciones recreativas náuticas y es uno de los más seguros y protegidos de Portugal.

Además del puerto deportivo en sí y el Club Náutico, hay también varios tipos de restaurantes, tiendas, agencias de turismo, salones de belleza, apartamentos y villas para renta , etc.

Visitar la colorida marina es una de las mejores cosas que hacer en Albufeira cuando está lloviendo, ya que ofrece entretenimiento familiar como juego de bolos , centro de ocio y karting indoor.

También hay paseos, camas elásticas y un SCAD jump, pero en una zona al aire libre.

19 – Descubre las ciudades y playas cercanas

Albufeira, Lagos, Vilamoura, Carvoeiro, Loulé y Portimão son generalmente considerados como algunos de los mejores lugares para visitar en Algarve.

Pero la Costa Dorada, que se extiende por un área de 4.997 Km 2 , tiene muchas otras atracciones.

Y esta es la razón por la que cuando estés en Albufeira, debes aprovechar su ubicación central para descubrir las ciudades y playas cercanas.

Si te gusta historia, deberías visitar Loulé , Faro o Silves . Pero si prefiere playas únicas no te lo pierdas Lagoa y Portimão, dos de las playas más impresionantes del Algarve se encuentran en estos municipios.

Y si te gustan más sitios menos turísticos, mi principal recomendación es el Parque Natural Costa Vicentina, donde encontrarás un poco de historia y playas hermosas.

20 – Conquista las ruinas del Castillo de Paderne

Si estás buscando cosas inusuales que ver cerca de Albufeira, ponga el Castelo de Paderne, uno de los pocos castillos restantes en el Algarve, en tu lista.

Esa antigua fortificación construida a finales del siglo XII por los moros, se encuentra en una colina de un valle con vegetación mediterránea.

Después de varias batallas entre musulmanes y cristianos, el castillo fue conquistado por los portugueses en 1248 y abandonado en 1858.

Al visitar el Castillo de Paderne hoy, tú verás los restos de una estructura trapezoidal, de casi una hectárea de tamaño, rodeado de paredes gruesas y una torre/puerta con un paseo hecho de Taipa (una mezcla de barro, tiza, cal y agregado que se establece como hormigón).

Puede visitar el Castillo de Paderne en coche, pero mi recomendación es reservar un Quad-biking Tour que combina aventura con sitios históricos.

Hay un aeropuerto internacional en Faro, pero la opción más popular para los viajeros de fuera de Europa es el de Lisboa.

Desde Lisboa se puede tomar un autobús o un tren a Albufeira. Los precios son básicamente los mismos y toma alrededor de 2h30min para llegar allí.

Desde Faro se puede tomar un traslado desde el aeropuerto, que cuesta alrededor de €15, un tren o autobús a Albufeira, que cuesta €3.40 y €4.95 respectivamente.

El mejor momento para visitar Albufeira es sin duda durante el verano, particularmente Julio y Agosto. Pero si no te gusta las multitudes y el calor, puedes ir en Junio o Septiembre.

La temporada de Navidad también es una época popular porque hay una gran celebración de Nochevieja en la playa.

Al menos 3 días completos. Hay muchas cosas que hacer en Albufeira y alrededores. Si te quedas más tiempo, también podrás hacer una excursión de un día a Lagos, que es uno de los mejores lugares para visitar en el Algarve.

¿Cómo moverse?

Lo mejor es alquilar un coche porque el transporte público en albufeira no es bueno.

Los autobuses locales no funcionan muy a menudo, ni los autobuses interurbanos ni los trenes.
