Ahead of the tour’s kick-off in February, the band has added 15 new dates to their self-titled trek, in addition to the previously announced shows. The new dates begin in May and carry through the end of July. The band visits several states across the south and midwest, including Nashville’s Ascend Amphitheater, The Blue Note in Columbia, Missouri, and the Starlight Theater in Kansas City before wrapping in Billings, Montana, on July 28, bringing the total to 23 cities.
The tour launches on February 16 at the Knoxville Civic Coliseum in Knoxville, Tennessee. Giovannie & The Hired Guns, Rival Sons, and the Weathered Souls are among the opening acts, with other artists expected to be announced.
Whiskey Myers’ latest album, Tornillo, was released in July 2022 and debuted at No. 10 on the Billboard Top Country Albums and Independent Albums charts. It also cracked the top 15 on the Top Rock Albums chart.
“I’ve always been good about keeping my blinders on,” frontman Cody Cannon previously shared with American Songwriter about feeling the pressure of fame. “I don’t pay attention to any of that shit. We’re thankful and it’s life-changing. But as far as all the noise, I kind of keep that out. We’ve always done our thing where we dance to the beat of our drum. We’ve always been good about that. That’s kind of the core of the band.”
“The pressure was on again,” added bandmate John Jeffers about Tornillo . “The pressure was on with the ‘White Album’ (‘Whiskey Myers’) because we’d come off of two (producer) Dave Cobb records. And all of a sudden, we flipped gears and said, ‘Screw it, we’ll produce it ourselves.’ There was pressure there and it worked out. For us to turn around and do it again, it was on us, so we had to bring it to the table.”
Tickets for the new shows go on sale to the public Friday (Jan .13) at 10 a.m. local time.
